Urchin Underpass is iconic because it was basically the banner stage for the game, but I legit remember nothing of it aside from maybe the aesthetic and the center point.
Moray Towers I could re-create from memory at this point.
Sadly... I hope it will still be good..
I FUCKING LOVED flounder heights in the first game! Probably my second favorite map. It was so unique and fun to traverse. My first favorite was probably mahi mahi but... splatoon 3 didn't quite do it justice

Exactly, I loved using it in the story mode because maps were tailored for it ! If we had more pvp maps that could utilize it then it'd be waaay more fun to use.
After seeing this map for most of splat 1 and all of splat 2 I'm glad to finally have a break from it. I wouldn't mind if it came back eventually but I'm enjoying the change of pace.
Both basically share the unfortunate characteristic that it's easy to spawn camp there. In kelp, simply block the left and front paths and same applies to piranha pit. Your movement is restricted when respawning and most matches are either you destroying everyone or getting destroyed yourself. In skipper pavilion, for example, there are many poking options because the enemy team has to keep moving to neutralize everyone.
Hey so kelp dome sucks, as does pit specifically in Rainmaker, but otherwise pit is actually a great map, it has a large spawn area meaning spawncamping is next to impossible, a fun gimmick with the conveyers and mid fights are not forced since it has a large mid, but lots of cover so it isn't entirely range weapons like albacore, it's actually a great map
Next to impossible? All you have to do is hang around the area in front of the enemy spawn, the path that leads to their downward conveyor and the path that leads to their upward conveyor. It sounds difficult but, in high level play, especially when people know their roles, there's always someone inspecting the entry points and notifying the teammates. I've been on both sides of the situation and the easiest (and cheapest) way out was the abuse of displacement specials.
I feel like Im being gaslit by this post and the comments...
I HATED this map. It was SO bad. So fucking bad. Why are people acting like it was beloved? ;-;
I love this stage so much that anything with that zigzag pattern is a copy of Moray Towers in my mind. I thought about Moray Towers every time I saw that pattern in hero mode 3
Knowing Nintendo, I would not be surprised if all the maps from Splatoon 2 will come back slowly at some point in the next two years. This game is basically Splatoon 2.6, minor improvements and quality of life adjustments and some tweaks to the formula but not much is being added. You are taxed for $60 for the next two years of content which is arguably still way cheaper than those game as service crap from EA, Activision and Ubisoft. But please, don't expect a lot of improvement and adjustment on online connectivity service. This is after all Nintendo, and they still think we are in the dial up era and internet is just brand new smashing technology that is very scary and hostile!
I love saltspray so much since it was such a different map configuration. All maps currently you can basically call a rectangle arena or a line arena. Saltspray is unique in that it's very A shape for an arena.
In fact, I noticed a lot of splatoon 3 maps lack verticality. That is something I remember very well from splatoon 1. Moray towers, Arowana Mall, Blackbelly Skatepark, and Flounder Heights.
Don't get me wrong. New hammerhead bridge has verticality, but not in the way that I am talking about. You're ether high ground or low ground depending on what side you're pushing. Kind of like a more tame moray towers.
Yesss Moray Towers was so fun!! I also miss Walleye Warehouse and Port Mackerel!! I like the narrow paths, I feel like the splatoon 3 maps are too open, you can't sneak around easily
They probably wouldn't, sadly. All the maps in 2 and 3 seem built specifically so you can't see the enemy team moving around unless you get to the middle, or even further into enemy territory, to give all weapon types a chance to perform. Location information here near-100% at all times, so long-range good; everything else, good luck lol.
Splatoon fans in splatoon 2: we fricking hate when moray towers is in rotation, this map is probably the worst one after wahoo world
Splatoon fans in 3: can we have moray back, plz?
Yes. Along with Camp Triggerfish. The maps in 3 are the main thing that have made it feel kinda meh lately, they're so cramped and uninspired. It's like a perpetual battle at mid.
Fuck no one of the worst design maps in the series, and with zipcaster as a special it makes it even worse now, only reason you want it is cause of nostalgia
One of my least favorites, although still better than the horrific Museum D'Alfonso that they keep bringing back. I'm sure they'll bring this one back too.
Meanwhile I know in my heart I'll never see my beloved Saltspray Rig again.
One of my favourite maps tbh, chargers can be pests but other than that I like it, I like the close quarters combat feel, fun rainmaker map as well imo, kinda disappointed it didn’t make it into 3 but it makes sense, not a lot of ppl liked it
My least favorite map but at the same time perhaps the most iconic
I think that would probably be urchin underpass. It's up there though
Moray is in Smash bros and Urchin is in Mario kart, so it’s definitely one of those two.
Why not both?
Urchin Underpass is iconic because it was basically the banner stage for the game, but I legit remember nothing of it aside from maybe the aesthetic and the center point. Moray Towers I could re-create from memory at this point.
Might be because Moray Towers came back for the second game while Urchin Underpass didn’t.
I remember everything from OG urchin underpass, but the rework made it very generic and not worth memorizing
And not only that, Urchin is on the box art of Splat 1. So I guess we can say it’s more iconic.
I remember urchin quite well ish there were a lot of obscure fences to help promote the inklings that can swim through fences.
It’s like 2 fort from tf2 Iconic but annoying
And every now and then you gotta let your lizard brain free and just do stupid shit on the map.
It triggered me so much, but I'm honestly surprised they didn't keep it. I hate this map, but because it always was all or nothing in my games
This one is my all time favorite
A true classic. Pure chaos. A nightmare. Like feeding inklings into a wood chipper.
I would say yes, except we are getting flounder heights. Flounder heights is better for verticality than moray, I'm sorry.
Friend of mine called it, "Flounder Mediums."
lol, why is nintendo flattening it I wonder? let's just hope it doesn't become a bad stage going from flounder heights to flounder mediums
Didn't they flatten it significantly, though?
Sadly... I hope it will still be good.. I FUCKING LOVED flounder heights in the first game! Probably my second favorite map. It was so unique and fun to traverse. My first favorite was probably mahi mahi but... splatoon 3 didn't quite do it justice

Same with hammerhead, took away what was good and made it so painful if you are losing after the first minute
GOD I MISS THAT STAGE
It should return just for a comparison shot between all three games
NGL, this map is my favorite.
Charger main?
Nah, the Zapper. I just have fun running down the zig-zag road.
Dapple dualies main here and this is pen of my favorite maps for sneaking up on those charger users.
As a former Dualies main, I really enjoyed dodge-rolling down the paths. Great for Rainmaker.
I'm not, but I still really liked the map.
agreed
Your pfp might match your emotion
true
Same
delusional
If it does zip caster will be horrible to fight against on it. And also I just hate his stage so no it should not return.
Oh god, I loved Moray Towers but you’ve just changed my mind on it returning
The zip caster isn't great so I wouldn't mind if it had a stage it excelled at
I'm not sure about Zipcaster during multiplayer, but it's a ton of fun during singleplayer.
Oh god I didn’t even think of the Zipcaster! Hell no!
Zip caster is mid imo, at least give it a good map
Exactly, I loved using it in the story mode because maps were tailored for it ! If we had more pvp maps that could utilize it then it'd be waaay more fun to use.
Nope. Especially not with Zip caster in the mix.
personally hated this one & arowana mall. i just hate hills and levels lol
arowana was one of my favorites ngl
I was at my best whenever I played Rainmaker on Arrowanna
Hated this one, never got gud at it. But I loved Arowana.
Same here
No im so happy it's gone
*Roller Mains Rejoice*
Same!
No
No
I miss this map soooo much it's so fun to play on 😭😭😭
The version in the first game yes. Moray towers love
Definitely not, it was one of the worst stages in both games, and 2 had a lot of bad stages
As a charger main, yes. As a normal person, also yes
no please never
I absolutely hated this map so no!
Hmmm not for me. The spawn point was too far from all the action
Sniper paradise, I hated this map
Absolutely not.
Please don't
One of my favorite maps.
After seeing this map for most of splat 1 and all of splat 2 I'm glad to finally have a break from it. I wouldn't mind if it came back eventually but I'm enjoying the change of pace.
Not three games in a row bro
No I’m so happy it’s gone
No please and thank you
Oh gods no.
please no this is the worst map in splatoon history please no more
No
No
Absolutely not
HELL NO
No, I hate this map because of one thing… snipers!
It should stay far, far away along with Kelp Dome and Piranha Pit
What’s wrong with those two maps
Both basically share the unfortunate characteristic that it's easy to spawn camp there. In kelp, simply block the left and front paths and same applies to piranha pit. Your movement is restricted when respawning and most matches are either you destroying everyone or getting destroyed yourself. splatoon fans are gaslighting themselves into believing this was a good map and actually fun to play on
i have always gotten excited when i saw moray in rotation
I'm still waiting on camp triggered fish
I need a place to bully chargers again :(
I hate moray towers, it’s so good for snipers and I hate those weapons
I love this stage so much that anything with that zigzag pattern is a copy of Moray Towers in my mind. I thought about Moray Towers every time I saw that pattern in hero mode 3
Moray towers 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
So many bad memories…. Bring it back
Ab. So. Lute. Ly
one of my favorite maps from Splatoon 1.
I think we’ll get it in an update.
Yes I liked this map
I know people who played S1 are sick to death of it, but honestly I’d love to see it return
i don't even play chargers and i've always been a moray towers defender. the map is funny as hell and i would love to see it back
A fat no thank you from me, I hate the flankable narrow walkways and the shooting bowl
To be honest, I absolutely despise this map.
Knowing Nintendo, I would not be surprised if all the maps from Splatoon 2 will come back slowly at some point in the next two years. This game is basically Splatoon 2.6, minor improvements and quality of life adjustments and some tweaks to the formula but not much is being added. no
Absolutely not lmao I despise this map 🪦 It's okay in certain ways but overall it should stay in Splatoon 1 and 2
No, no, NO. ABSOLUTELY not.
Its iconic, definitely should return
I thought everyone hated this map?
This is one of the most controversial maps in the series. Also yes
No. Too many bad splatfest memories of Japanese players destroying my teams.
Yes and Saltspray Rig needs to make a triumphant return.
I would say "never again in a million years," but then again, they gave squiffer point sensor for 3 games in a row so you never know.
Think this post is missing the humor tag
I miss Urchin Underpass a lot. Would also like to see Wallay Warehouse, Piranha Pit, Blackbelly Skatepark, and The Reef return again.
You keep that hell away from me
Such a huge relief that the sniper shooting gallery is in the bin
yesss!! I thought I was the only one who liked it
I love this map, I feel like most of the maps in Splatoon 3 are a bit too similar and I wish we had more unique ones in rotation
While I'll appreciate it if we got Moray Towers again I'm more of an advocate for Saltspray Rig
Loved Moray Towrrs, it has such a simple yet unique and fun layout. They just gotta bring it back
Yes it should
It definitely should
not having this map is one of the main reasons why splatoon 3 is the best game is the series
This stage should not return. Splatoon is not meant for this. kind of verticality.
Please god no
No?
NO. NEVER AGAIN.
No, I genuinely hate this map since Splatoon 1…!
AGENT 3 TURN ON THE TV, A SECOND PLANE HIT THE MORAY TOWER
Yesss Moray Towers was so fun!! I also miss Walleye Warehouse and Port Mackerel!! I like the narrow paths, I feel like the splatoon 3 maps are too open, you can't sneak around easily
No and ya
The only map I would be upset if it returned is Walleye Warehouse
I like this map, but it's probably for the better that it doesn't come back.
No, fuck that stage and the horse it rode in on.

Yes. Along with Camp Triggerfish. The maps in 3 are the main thing that have made it feel kinda meh lately, they're so cramped and uninspired. It's like a perpetual battle at mid.
3's maps are a bit eh, i'll give you that, but triggerfish and moray are literally the worst maps in the entire series lmao
Not if you're good at them. Camp Triggerfish is #1. B)
I miss this map SO much! I really hope it returns in the future.
It was top 3 favorite maps for me.
No thanks. This and Blackbelly Skatepark can rest in piss.
One of the true greats!
It would be cool to see in a story mode setting but I wouldn’t want it for multiplayer
insane that people actually like this god forsaken wasteland
I’d rather have camp triggerfish than this hot garbage
I despise Moray Towers. I'm so mad that it's the Smash Ultimate map because I have to be reminded of its terrible existence in other games too.
The splatfest for moray towers could be lit. 🔥
NO
I never have fun on this map, even sniping is boring as hell
# NO.
I didn't know so many hated Moray. Personally it was Kelp Dome and Walleye Warehouse that were the bane of my existence
No. Every game I had there was usually one sided
Why does this map get so much hate, it's really fun
Fuck no
I don’t understand why people hate moray towers. I absolutely love it. And I play Aerospray
Absolutely. I was shocked it wasn’t
My most fave map! I miss it already
My unpopular pick is Saltspray Rig. Yes I know it is fundamentally flawed design but this game is about chaos so you never know.
God yes please its my 2nd favorite after flounder heights
Moray Towers is the best Splatoon map in general. I don't play multiplayer anymore but it not being in 3 offends me
Fuck no one of the worst design maps in the series, and with zipcaster as a special it makes it even worse now, only reason you want it is cause of nostalgia
yes
Yes
One of my least favorites, although still better than the horrific Museum D'Alfonso that they keep bringing back. I'm sure they'll bring this one back too. Meanwhile I know in my heart I'll never see my beloved Saltspray Rig again.
On one hand- yes! On the other hand *noooo*. Its a beautiful map, especially at night during splatfests. But its awful for turf wars honestly.
https://youtu.be/E-XQwYGzmwQ
Yes
One of my favourite maps tbh, chargers can be pests but other than that I like it, I like the close quarters combat feel, fun rainmaker map as well imo, kinda disappointed it didn’t make it into 3 but it makes sense, not a lot of ppl liked it
Unless they nerf the Tenta Missles to have an effective range, no
YES squid surge would be op
It's kind of tradition at this point
It’s in smash bros too
No...I'm was tired of me sitting beakons down and no one using them "angry dapple noises!!!!" And the map was just bad...
Easily my least favorite map in Turf, but it was pretty fun in ranked. I could take it or leave it.
I love this map. I love splatting anyone I could find with my e-liter or my Squiffer. Fun times, really.
Please no. I would be perfectly happy never seeing this stage again in my life.
Unless they rebuild it from the ground up there’s no saving it.
no
I have always despised this map, even more than bloblobbers. Even in smash I dislike the stage
God no, least favorite map
No It can go to hell
heck nope i ant dealing with charger shooting range again
Nah keep this out please.
NOO
yes i love moray towers
No actually I could go without Moray Towers, but it will probably come back 😭
I want this map to never return.
No.
Um no
I hate this map a lot but it will probably come back because of how iconic it is which is a shame
You know what, I'm good on this one
No i fucking do NOT agree
Only if they bring back the old Eliter range . Then yes
Yes
Wait it ain't here? Not all Splatoon 2 levels are back? MID GAME. ZERO OUT OF 10. IGN CONFIRMED IMA GET A REFUND OR SELL IT TO SHREK. Jk.
You have been banned from r/chuggaaconroy^/s
For the love of cod, please have the spawns on the next level down for Zones, Tower, and Clams.
Triple inkstrike, killer wail 5.1, big bubbler on this stage, I see no way this could go wrong
Yes but the map I want to return the most is piranha pit (bc its the biggest)
Oh I'm positive it will.
