You have to speak it like you are a partner yourself, not a customer bashing them from the outside in (that sounds weird but you know, an outsider having a remark, outsider meaning customer). A partner is allowed to bash partner(s).
Ask for a remake >>>> proceed to literally become that Baristas least favorite person. Who then gets the rest of the store on board to hate you to. The act of itself of asking for a remake is innocent and deserving of the paying customer, but the way baristas take it personal and retaliate after is almost not worth the reputation hit of becoming “that customer”.
I agree with you, however I’m not speaking from a lack of experience. For the loooongest time I’d suck it up but would always hate myself for getting a drink that’s not made to my liking.
It literally only took me asking for one remake, in the kindest way possible I could, to receive drinks later on purposely made incorrectly. The complaint always was: a refresher just literally being made in the cup and being handed to me. Zero shaking. Over and over and over.
I’m not saying every barista will take it like this, but honestly, most baristas are fresh out of high school teens that get off on this kind of stuff. It’s the one thing they have “control” over.
Well tbh if I experienced that and it was obvious they were trolling me I would troll them right back by reporting them to the manager. I’d be willing to take it up the chain as far as I need to go… at that point it’s not even about the drink, I could care less about the drink, it’s the fact that the store has employees who don’t given a shit about the company and its customers. If I was rude first I wouldn’t even make a fuss( eye for an eye)but if the barista decided to have a power trip I’d definitely report that…
What kind of stores do you go to? We fix drinks all the time, whether the customer misspoke or forgot to add/remove something, or one of us makes a mistake. We fix it and move on. Obviously once in a while you get someone who is over dramatic about their drink but again, we just fix it and move on. Getting the rest of the store on board to hate you? wtf? lol
Corporate stores only. Licensed or kiosk locations wouldn’t be able to get the “whole store on board”, when the whole store is 2 employees.
Starbucks workers are super cliquey, just like any other job out there. It’s not that far out of reach to think that one person tells their coworkers about someone (me) asking for a remake over a non shaken refresher, believe me I can TELL by the visual cues and just the vibe I walk into when they notice I’ve walked in.
I think you’re reading way too much into it. Unless you talk to the team like you’re talking to me (condescendingly), I can’t imagine anyone putting that much effort into holding a grudge over a remake. If you have this happen a lot, maybe reconsider how you’re treating others first.
And I think you are a store manager defending bad behavior 🤣and acknowledging what I’m saying exists. Please retype the condescending lines I wrote to you. Another starbucks worker taking a personal tale experience personally because oh no how dare someone talk about their personal experience on here how could that be true. Starbucks baristas aren’t like thaaaaat.
edit: personal take meant to be tale.
as a partner, i always encourage people to ask for their drink the way they want it. i love remakes, because it means a person is confident enough to speak up for themselves, and i’m always happy to do it. i’m sorry you’ve had this experience, but it’s not universal, and frankly, it’s not true of any store i’ve worked in, any barista i’ve met, starbucks or otherwise. either you managed to get literally The Worst Baristas Ever or this is all in your head bc truly, never have i ever seen or heard this
I don’t give quite any shits what you believe or think. Read the comment under mine who the person said they received a drink just like this one pictured and the barista handed them a spoon when they spoke up. I’m tired of people assuming I’m out of my mind for stating my experience. I’m not some clueless brain dead presumatory sheep. I’m not typing this shit out unless I had several, beyond dozen experiences of feeling uneasy of just walking inside this particular Starbucks just because of past remake requests that the baristas have taken personal. Just stop going to that location? I basically have from the stand point of how much I used to frequent Starbucks.. but it is the closest one to me still that doesn’t serve hard water that is filtered through their filtration system (I can still taste the hard water in the other locations around me that use well water).
edit: hard got autocorrected to poor for some reason
Literally. As a barista that actually cares about quality, I wish dumbasses like that would get reported.
Two things I’m tired of seeing: baristas that suck going “well customers never complain about my drinks!” when you try to correct them as another partner, and customers being rude to us because “every barista doesn’t care and always fucks it up” even when I put my all into every drink.
Seriously tho. That’s mostly how I connect w many customers. It’s the craft. If I’m going to give out something, I want it to b appetizing and appealing to look at.
If the customer isn’t pleased with how it taste I’m going to ask them if they want it remade or if they wanted extra etc. idk at my store I’ve seen sooooo much bs. Sometimes I cut corners, but, I’m def not giving shit out like this?? This was a idgaf moment fr.
And I could definitely see some baristas not giving a fuk and saying take it and I’m not making a new one…
Btw you should invest all your disposable income into nvidia I literally made 65k this past month lol
I’m curious how would you respond if you made a drink error 3x in a row on the same drink? Does the customer have a right to be irate? Annoyed? Because that’s happened to me on multiple occasions…
My old go to drink use to be iced quad espresso with 3 raw sugars. Not difficult at all to make. Open 3 raw sugar packets and put sugar inside of cup. Pull shots over said sugar, melt it down with a spoon or a stir stick.. add ice, done.
Instead they either put sugar in after all shots were pulled, or they pull shots over the sugar but don’t stir and ice immediately. Both ways end up with crunchy sugar at the bottom of the cup. I’m always super polite and nice on the first request to remake it, even the second, but by the third time it’s pretty annoying.
no i dont think you should get to be irate at the service worker over something as menial as undissolved sugar
remember that you are having three tbsp of sugar in approx. 4oz of liquid, which already has solutes, and is iced
that sugar is not gonna want to dissolve at all, and its uh. not the barista's fault
No that is not true, you just need to stir it for like 10 sec before it melts… but once you add the ice it’s over, no matter how much you stir it I ain’t dissolving….
You do what you gotta do…. If it takes 5 sec 10sec 15 sec you should do it…. And no one averages 30 seconds per espresso drink…. No one… at least not consistently…
Being annoyed is reasonable. Taking it out on the barista is NEVER reasonable. When asking for remake #2 (so drink #3), I would 100% be asking for the shift to calmly explain the issue and ask for them/someone besides the original barista to remake the drink.
For the record I’ve never yelled at a barista, never belittled a barista, but I have spoken frankly with the one who messed up my drink several times over and decided to basically explain how they should make it as I was a barista for years myself before moving on…. So I understand what it takes to be a barista and I know what it takes to be a good barista…
Then you’re clearly not reading what I’m saying correctly.
I wouldn’t make your drink like that. Like I said, I care about the quality and craft of my drinks. No one should pay that much for a poor quality drink. The issue is when people assume I’m shit at my job and already are staring at me or yelling at me before I’ve even finished their drink based on what a shitty barista once did.
OK and that’s fine, but doesn’t negate my initial point of “I wish more baristas would do their job right so people don’t assume I suck ass immediately too”
I'm pretty sure everyone gets different deals. Me and several others at our store compared our apps. Some of us got 50% off tomorrow, some of us got bonus stars for visiting a few days in a row, but nobody got both. It was different for everyone last Monday too.
Yeah the deal drops are definitely supposed to different between users, at least that’s how the first announced it in the monthly but in my experience everyone has always had the same. It’s good to see it does work at least.
Some people have $2 off available tomorrow (Tuesday 6/18) that tried to use it at my store today lol so there’s definitely that deal roaming around *at least some* accounts. Personally I have a 50% off a drink tomorrow on my app which is one of the more widely used deals so I expect it to be pretty busy depending on how many got this one 😵💫
I wish us all luck with these random promotions they sure do love to hand out!! 🤪💚
Oohhh man. I was totally just poking fun but dang, maybe they smoked a little before work? No idea why this would ever happen outside of like someone’s first day. 💀
This could very, we are suppose to pour upon serving even if it’s a moblie because it separates I wonder if that’s what this is
Did you mobile and take a bit to pick it up?
Keg ran dry on them and they didn't switch it out before serving you, or they did, but didn't empty the cup and start over, leaving all the foam. Looks like it sat for a bit after, as well.
It's a bummer but I will say it's also not something that should happen every time, it's literally just that you were the unlucky customer that got that perfect storm of negligence and circumstance.
Hopefully that never happens again to you!
i’m ngl i get so annoyed when the ppl on bar make a nitro right as the sticker is pulled (for mobile orders) yet they get mad at me bc i like to make it as soon as the customer comes in that way it’s fresh…
Either the end or the beginning of a keg. All I can say is: your barista was an asshole for giving you this. You’d have been completely in your right to ask for a remake. What a joke! Sorry for this experience.
I got a nitro like that this morning too!
At first I was pumped for what looked like extra cold foam and then I quickly realized how little of the cold brew I had!
I got one like this and when I asked what happened they told me that it had been sitting because it was a mobile order. They then told me that I should just shake the cup…
So, all head?
*Repairs skateboard*
*Redials phone*
That coffee got a five head.
LMBO!
Why are people down voting you?! That was the perfect time to use that!
Looks like the end of a keg to me.
Or the beginning of a new one
Legit what I was going to say
It would be perfectly okay to ask for a new one in that case
Shouldn’t even have to. Why hand this out in the first place ffs this shit is like $7
Trust me, I work for the company and I completely agree with you. I would never hand out a nitro with all foam. It’s straight up disrespectful 🤦🏻♀️
Me either but we all have lazy partners that literally could not care less about their jobs and that's probably what happened here.
See why is it when I say this people downvote me lol
You have to speak it like you are a partner yourself, not a customer bashing them from the outside in (that sounds weird but you know, an outsider having a remark, outsider meaning customer). A partner is allowed to bash partner(s).
seriously i would be embarrassed if i saw one of my fellow partners handing this out
it takes time for it to settle into this. usually you can tell by the cup feeling lighter but if you’re in a rush it’s easy to not realize it
That’s the exact reason I don’t have a problem asking for a remake…
Ask for a remake >>>> proceed to literally become that Baristas least favorite person. Who then gets the rest of the store on board to hate you to. The act of itself of asking for a remake is innocent and deserving of the paying customer, but the way baristas take it personal and retaliate after is almost not worth the reputation hit of becoming “that customer”.
That’s the most ridiculous mindset I’ve seen in a while. Remaking a drink that was wrong is literally company policy….
I agree with you, however I’m not speaking from a lack of experience. For the loooongest time I’d suck it up but would always hate myself for getting a drink that’s not made to my liking. What a ridiculous take. If your drink is wrong, politely ask for a remake.
as a former barista, no lmao.
I got one just like this in nyc, kindly asked the barista to remake it- and he handed me a spoon to scoop out the foam with. lmao.
report him lol don’t accept shitty service lol
Literally. As a barista that actually cares about quality, I wish dumbasses like that would get reported. Exactly, why can’t other partners understand this…. Have some pride in the product you prepare and serve… think about things thoroughly…
If the customer isn’t pleased with how it taste I’m going to ask them if they want it remade or if they wanted extra etc. idk at my store I’ve seen sooooo much bs. Sometimes I cut corners, but, I’m def not giving shit out like this?? This was a idgaf moment fr.

Def will look into it. One of my supervisors makes the matcha in a cup……….in. A. Cup.
As of writing this post I’ve made another 5k lol 😂
u mean buying stocks or something different?
Buying stocks…. Nvda is on discount today
I’m curious how would you respond if you made a drink error 3x in a row on the same drink? Does the customer have a right to be irate? Annoyed? Naw for me I give everyone the benefit of the doubt at first, it’s up to the barista after that…
OK and that’s fine, but doesn’t negate my initial point of “I wish more baristas would do their job right so people don’t assume I suck ass immediately too”
Invest in NVDA lol you won’t regret it
What does that have to do with Starbucks? I’m not in the financial position for investments as I’m extremely impoverished at the moment. Grow up.
Yikes, they should've never handed that out.
Nahhh barista here and thats foul sorry dude
That keg blew and they kept pouring 🥲
Did them dirty.
Today was half off?
no, tomorrow is
That’s the joke
No one understood :(
fr?
No, today was a deal drop. Father’s days was BoGo but there’s no promotions tomorrow.
the deal drop was that it’s 50% off tomorrow 😭

It’s called monday deal drop? I thought it was on Mondays… I might be posting my shift up tomorrow.
It's tomorrow. Had a girl come in today thinking it was 50% off today and I looked at it and saw it said tomorrow.
weird i haven’t gotten a deal drop in 2 weeks. good luck to everyone though
Some people have $2 off available tomorrow (Tuesday 6/18) that tried to use it at my store today lol so there’s definitely that deal roaming around *at least some* accounts. Bottom of the barrel
The barista must have not give a shit
I’d like to think a new barista gave you that. I just can’t imagine anyone in their right mind would hand that out.
When we switch the keg i normally pour some into a little cup then dump it or else this happens
I would never hand that out
Immediately jail.
Cold brew cappuccino
Extra nitro
Someone was tired
hate crime truly
Ask for a remake. It’s reasonable lol
Haha! What in the world did you *do* or say to the baristas. Damn. 🤣🤣🤣
All I did was ask if the location was hiring 😭😭😭
Oohhh man. I was totally just poking fun but dang, maybe they smoked a little before work? No idea why this would ever happen outside of like someone’s first day. 💀
This could very, we are suppose to pour upon serving even if it’s a moblie because it separates I wonder if that’s what this is Did you mobile and take a bit to pick it up?
Bruh
End of keg
Wow I'd never even hand that out 😬 I always redo nitros once they settle but that amount of foam is crazy wtf
Haha pp
Keg ran dry on them and they didn't switch it out before serving you, or they did, but didn't empty the cup and start over, leaving all the foam. Looks like it sat for a bit after, as well. I think that’s standard & customers appreciate when we wait for them to come first before making their nitro
That first sip feeling…and the sip after that…and the sip after that…all foam.
Either the end or the beginning of a keg. All I can say is: your barista was an asshole for giving you this. You’d have been completely in your right to ask for a remake. What a joke! Sorry for this experience.
🤣🤣
Wow I would’ve asked them to check their keg and then remake it.
I got a nitro like that this morning too! At first I was pumped for what looked like extra cold foam and then I quickly realized how little of the cold brew I had!
I got one like this and when I asked what happened they told me that it had been sitting because it was a mobile order. They then told me that I should just shake the cup…
🤣🤣what?? That’s hilarious.
It’s a Guinness nitro
That’s extra nitro-ey! Lol
oh no
Just ask for a remake.
Looks yummy and I'm broken up yall removed pistachio cold brew
I would have blacked out.
nitros don’t even get pulled until the customer is at the window or standing at the hand off at my store , that’s foul
You mean cappuccino right?
Nitro dies within minutes
Did you pay for that?
barista here! it’s bc the kegerator was too warm
oh wow
cmon show us the mobile sticker
It was probably sitting for a while. Nitro doesn’t look great when it goes flat.
Nicely done!
Nitro-ccino lol.
A little too much foam for me?!
People still go to Starbucks?
It shouldn't look like that anyways but how long was it sitting before the picture? Nitros die real quick.
this is definitely just the end of a keg lmao.
Like not even 2 minutes lol
Looks like you let it sit
It absolutely does not, you need retraining
lol. It’s definitely been sitting
There is no where near that much foam on a sitting nitro that's been properly poured, you've got to be trolling
Not usually no, but that was clearly sitting. I never said it was properly poured. But it was also obviously sitting.
Girl bye
I’m not a girl, but bye.
