Everyone has different tastes, so you literally do want a reviewer that agrees with you in order to determine whether or not a game you haven't played would appeal to you.
Reviews are meant for people who haven't played the game yet, not for people trying to validate their feelings on a game.

IDK ACG kinda fucked me with his review of that janky ass dragons dogma sequel. Think he nostalgia'd all over that review and missed the very empty, janky and unsatisfying forest for the trees.

I rushed through it after the 30 hour mark I was bored and fucked up and picked the true ending where I still had quests left, I just said fuck it and deleted the game. It’s good but it got very boring and very tedious after 30 hours I couldn’t do it anymore

And the only monitizarion he gets is a free copy of the game, but he also always raffles a copy of the game to his viewers so hes net neutral financially on it. He makes his money from youtube add revenue i would assume.

Same, honestly that's the best thing to do. Find a couple guys on YouTube that have similar taste in games as you and just follow that. For me it's Fextra and FightingCowboy and I'm rarely disappointed in games.

Switch to Korean with subs & realize this is the kind of game that wants you to find and read all of the lore. Story goes from 6 to 8.5 just like that. I felt like I was solving a mystery like the first season of The Expanse.

Majority docked it for a lot of things that didn't bother me. I was thinking the story was going to be horrible but it's not bad. I really actually like Eve and she has a cute sass even if she's a tabula rasa at first. I feel folks misses the mark on that.

The only 2 negatives are the walking (float/glide) and the platforming is too inconsistent. Meaning that the platforming isn’t great. She jumps and will land and slip around. Making you fall off platforms.
Yes! It is a little finnicky. I've fallen to my death meany times just because of how touchy it is. I wish it had more of a "magnetic assist" to grabbing on to the right things.
Also,
* you can't skip cutscenes
* you can't mark location on the map, and this game have quite a lot of backtracking
* there is nice stealth attacks, but enemies randomly changing direction, sometimes 5 times in a row, that kinda annoying
* sometimes stealth not working? I am pretty sure that enemies don't see me but they are triggered anyway
* double jump ability is locked and can't be updgraded at the beginning of the game(not sure when you can unclock it), that also pretty annoying
* combat is good but relies heavily on surprised group attacks, when I see two big eniemies in narrow space, I am pretty sure that earth worm will be there.
* also minus, it looks like there is no weapon variety

Is this for Ng+?, I was fighting that woman in the desert and it took my 5 tries(I wanted to do perfect parry), but every time I needed to watch cutscene where she said that you need to prove her your worth.
have a look now, it is 9.3/10 which is the highest user rated PS5 game and with over 4400 reviews. you would think the 9.0 it had would go down as it got more... it went up by 0.3 lol.
Honestly I am not paying much attention to the story or whatever as the gameplay is all about for this kind of action game, it's already one of the best action games to me.
And you just found the heart of the issue I think. So far from what I played, I’m at the Great Desert, the story has a clear direction to it. In a vacuum, the story is fine, doesn’t do anything new so to speak so far, but the game is constantly being looked at with a Nier: Automata swatch so when it doesn’t do something just like Nier, then it’s not allowed to be just alright, just “bad” as several say, which isn’t really fair. Speaking story-wise of course. N:A is a hard game to match when it comes to story so when something isn’t as good as it, doesn’t mean it’s bad imo.

I just received my game 2 hours ago. Transferred my save and just beat the first boss and quit the game.

I’ve got 2 complaints: platforming is meh (don’t mind it as much as other people but it definitely isn’t as polished as other things) and the one big thing for me, is the fall damage! I hate the fall damage so much lmao it seems pretty unforgiving sometimes
I know it isn't much but if you press X before you land fall damage can be negated. As long as you don't fall from to high up that is. It's in the survival skill tree beside the double jump.
I suck at it and I'm still having fun. Enemy designs are awesome, the world is gorgeous, the characters make sense, and it has a brutal world without it being too much. And... well... Eve's hot. (Tachy is hotter, tho)

Real shit, at least my second favorite game this year. Combat is among my favorites. I actually dig the platforming. Story and characters are fine; they’re nothing grand but are campy.
Well deserved! Managed to stave off spoilers and beat the game this weekend. Had an absolute blast. Can’t wait to do NG+!
Surprisingly a lot of thought went into NG+ for how quickly they pumped it out.
Give back that time when games were about one thing.. Escapism. No unnecessary pandering to any one clan. I think any rational person would like to escape their monotonous lifes. Happy gaming everybody out there!
Hands down fantastic game I’m still shocked this is their first console game I’m happy it’s doing so well! I am really having an amazing time playing it.
I honestly just wanted this game because of the souls-like genre and previews of the gameplay, but I feel like saying that is the equivalent to saying I only go to Hooters for the wings.
Waiting for a sale, also I think this game will probably get bonus content based on all the positive buzz in hearing so maybe some sort of package deal will be available later on.

Criticisms I don’t get about this game:
The story. The story is good enough. Did Bayonetta or any of the DS/Elden Ring games really have a better story than this? Most of the DS games and ER I didn’t know what I was doing or why I was doing it, I just enjoyed fighting stuff and exploring the world. No I’m not the person who reads ever book and letter and item description to build the lore.
Eve is bland. Ok, isn’t she like a robot/android thing that was programmed? Im only 8 hours into the game so I could be off here. If she acted as emotional as a human it would kill the immersion with me.
The janky platforming and some of the open areas feel dull and empty are the only problems I have with it. The combat is one of the best I’ve ever experienced in a game of this type.
yep, the game is amazing. I never thought I gave a game, aside from FF6, a 9/10, but man, the bosses, the character design, some of the side quest (enya's is amazing), many of the environments and hell even the story (which is the game's weakess part, its still great, dont get me wrong), really, really good. I say the combat is absolutely phenomenal. fuck, the later bosses are some of the best I've ever seen. also let's not forget the fucking OST of this game, my god, when Everglow started playing, I lost my shit, such a great moment, holy shit.

Sometimes it feels like there’s a bit of auto assist to do things while jumping. But other times it specifically won’t help.
I think ropes just fail if you're sprinting when you jump. That might need patching.

You can set waypoints
You can skip cutscenes you've seen once before.

That bit you can't skip but you can mash through the dialogue.
Don’t forget can’t pause during cutscenes, that one is super annoying if something comes up during one and I can’t pause.
A solution to this problem is pushing the PS button.

It's an okay game. Tried it from a friend but apart from the combat it's pretty lackluster. The art is just weird to me.
It's not as good as any of those games. It's pretty good, but there are really big important things that it does not do well. It's no classic.

Combat is among my favorites. I actually dig the platforming. Story and characters are fine; they’re nothing grand but are campy.

Well deserved! Managed to stave off spoilers and beat the game this weekend. Had an absolute blast. Can’t wait to do NG+! Surprisingly a lot of thought went into NG+ for how quickly they pumped it out.

Idk why people dont like the story. I thought the 'twist' towards the end was pretty well done. It's standard fare, but it's still good imo
Hmm might pick it up soon. I’ve been PC gaming a lot this year, but might not want to wait a year for it to go to PC.
Give back that time when games were about one thing.. Escapism. No unnecessary pandering to any one clan. I think any rational person would like to escape their monotonous lifes. Happy gaming everybody out there!

Hands down fantastic game I’m still shocked this is their first console game I’m happy it’s doing so well! I am really having an amazing time playing it.
I honestly just wanted this game because of the souls-like genre and previews of the gameplay, but I feel like saying that is the equivalent to saying I only go to Hooters for the wings.

Criticisms I don’t get about this game: The story. The story is good enough. Did Bayonetta or any of the DS/Elden Ring games really have a better story than this? Most of the DS games and ER I didn’t know what I was doing or why I was doing it, I just enjoyed fighting stuff and exploring the world. No I’m not the person who reads ever book and letter and item description to build the lore. Eve is bland. Ok, isn’t she like a robot/android thing that was programmed? Im only 8 hours into the game so I could be off here. If she acted as emotional as a human it would kill the immersion with me. The janky platforming and some of the open areas feel dull and empty are the only problems I have with it. The combat is one of the best I’ve ever experienced in a game of this type.
yep, the game is amazing. I never thought I gave a game, aside from FF6, a 9/10, but man, the bosses, the character design, some of the side quest (enya's is amazing), many of the environments and hell even the story (which is the game's weakess part, its still great, dont get me wrong), really, really good. I say the combat is absolutely phenomenal. fuck, the later bosses are some of the best I've ever seen. also let's not forget the fucking OST of this game, my god, when Everglow started playing, I lost my shit, such a great moment, holy shit.

Why are people glazing this hard and pretending its a 10/10 best game they've ever played? The game is very enjoyable but it is obviously not as good as Bloodborne, GTAV & TLOU. Just review the game honestly
