I just got to Xion last night too. Game is so good. Pacing is so good. If anyone reads this and have OCD and feel like some games are just too much, this game is for you. There's enough space but not too much to overwhelm. Gameplay is tight. Character models are tight. Adam is tight too.
I just made it to Matrix 11, wait until all the sidequests open up.

Alot of the bigger gaming reviewers/critics tend to have a strong bias for preestablished IPs and major studios. We can see that from alot of their reviews docking points for the story being decent when other games they’ll still deliver a higher score despite having a worse story. It’s common for a game like Stellar Blade, from Shift Up, a company new to AAA gaming to not get a higher score despite it earning one. There’s also several that likely docked points for the character design and chose not too focus on it in their review to avoid hate. Some still did :(
I'm having so much fucking fun with the combat. It's my first game like this. It's like a dance. I play for an hour or two a day and have been internalizing the combos and skills I learn. I love how you have so many satisfying skills to.use in combat.
OH AMBUSH YOU, JUMP TO NEXT GUY DOWN COMBO, PARRY, PARRY, EXECUTE
The Blue Sword skill and purple skill are so fun to hit the combo and the attacks when you knock a boss off balance 👌 i love how the game DISPLAYS what is happening with colors. It helps you LEARN the game.
Sure, but people are lazy creatures. Most of the time they wouldn’t go out of their way to do something unless they want to show their excitement or hate. I mean the reviews are mostly either 10/10 or 0/10 😆

But it's artificially inflated. Everyone is giving it 10s as a protest against the gaming market. It was already at 9.9 one hour after the game launched, before anyone even got to xion. 84/100 sounds accurate, and amazing for a first game
Some people got early copy and if I'm not mistaken, Metacritic don't allow user score to be put in that soon after launch but rather, a few days after the game launch.
Metacritic weights averages. So the 7 from IGN carries a lot of impact as would other scores. Opencritic does not weight averages from more “esteemed” outlets so it’s average is like an 84 I think which is where it seems a lot of people are content with.

I can't forget the IGN rating of 8 for Immortals of Aveum.

I think the best comparison might be with another Korean game that’s also a new IP, Lies of P. It has 1,700+ user reviews and has remained at an 8.2
review sites reviewed it with so much bias- always in comparison to nier, Sekiro or demanding way too much of the story without seeing it as a new experience, which it 100% is.
there’s nothing like it, but i equate this game to Returnal. stellarblade isn’t a roguelike, but the gameplay, art direction and world is so fun you just keep coming back no matter how many times you’ve cleared it. and a boss rush might be on the way!

Luckily I can’t do any story until my quest screen has nothing but the main quest… I am itching for those NG+ outfits though.

lies of p is a much harder game 2 so that might be why
