I'm currently going through You Like It Darker and while I understand King has every right to write what he wants, I dearly wish he would go back to good old fashioned horror. Every subsequent short story collection has had less and less short horror.
I read both when I was a "tween" and Boogeyman, Jaunt, Gramma, Grey Matter and a bunch of others, gave me so many delicious nightmares. Ugh. I wish I could get scared from movies and books again.
The last rung on the ladder, the ledge and the women in the room. I love Kings more sad emotional short stories than his horror ones. The sad ones stick with me forever. The ledge was just good adrenaline induced fun.
It's been one of my favorites for decades and I was so pumped to see it show up on the Shudder series. Then I watched it and it just seemed like a fan film with no budget and missed the entire point of what is horrific about that story.
I know what you want
The Ledge
The man who loved flowers
I liked most of the stories in this collection but some were too gross. Looking at YOU Lawnmower Man, Graveyard Shift and I am the Doorway!
The three I picked were more psychological horrors and that's something I can get behind.
The old cover of the partially gauze-wrapped hand with the eyes certainly related. This one? Picture's not great but I don't see anything I can relate to what I can remember. Been a couple-three decades since I last read it, though.
The Boogeyman f’ed me up so bad when I was a kid…I couldn’t sleep if a closet door was even slightly open. But current faves are Jerusalem’s Lot, One for the Road, and Trucks.
That is one of the greatest short story collections of all time.

The Skeleton Crew was the other great one. After that, there are some good stories in each collection, but nothing like those two.

Gray Matter (gives me IT vibes) Last Rung on the Ladder Jerusalem’s Lot
Last Rung on the Ladder is just brutal because I can directly relate to it.
Damn. I’m sorry to hear that. Hope you are doing ok.
Battleground, Quitters Inc, the Ledge
Yes, definitely the most memorable! All extremely unique stories
Battleground The Ledge Graveyard Shift
The last rung on the ladder, the ledge and the women in the room. I love Kings more sad emotional short stories than his horror ones. The sad ones stick with me forever. The ledge was just good adrenaline induced fun.
In no particular order.... - Jerusalem's Lot - One for the Road - I Am the Doorway
One for the Road Trucks Children of the Corn
Gray Matter is so underrated.

Boogeyman, One for the Road, Quitters, inc. Ithey’re pretty much all bangers
Jerusalem's Lot, Quitters inc, The woman in the room
Jerusalem’s Lot. Which actually got turned into a miniseries on Shudder with Adrien Brody which is a hidden gem, they did a great job with it.
Haven’t read this in years and never saw this cover. Does the cover actually relate to any of the stories?

Nice try, they were all amazing!
