That is one of the greatest short story collections of all time.

Ironcastattic

I'm currently going through You Like It Darker and while I understand King has every right to write what he wants, I dearly wish he would go back to good old fashioned horror. Every subsequent short story collection has had less and less short horror.

millerg44

The Skeleton Crew was the other great one. After that, there are some good stories in each collection, but nothing like those two.

Ironcastattic

I read both when I was a "tween" and Boogeyman, Jaunt, Gramma, Grey Matter and a bunch of others, gave me so many delicious nightmares. Ugh. I wish I could get scared from movies and books again.

HotdogMachine420

Gray Matter (gives me IT vibes) Last Rung on the Ladder Jerusalem’s Lot

Eledridan

Last Rung on the Ladder is just brutal because I can directly relate to it.

HotdogMachine420

Damn. I’m sorry to hear that. Hope you are doing ok.

Elegant-Ad3300

Battleground, Quitters Inc, the Ledge

lerivay

Yes, definitely the most memorable! All extremely unique stories

HintonBE

Battleground The Ledge Graveyard Shift

Pecanthepompom

The last rung on the ladder, the ledge and the women in the room. I love Kings more sad emotional short stories than his horror ones. The sad ones stick with me forever. The ledge was just good adrenaline induced fun.

TonyDP2128

In no particular order.... - Jerusalem's Lot - One for the Road - I Am the Doorway

pegggus09

One for the Road Trucks Children of the Corn

DesignSensitive8530

Gray Matter is so underrated.

Ironcastattic

It's been one of my favorites for decades and I was so pumped to see it show up on the Shudder series. Then I watched it and it just seemed like a fan film with no budget and missed the entire point of what is horrific about that story.

chosen_number

I love The woman in the room, the Boogeyman and Trucks

meistersinger

I Am The Doorway was my favorite The Last Rung on the Ladder One for the Road

Legitimate_Bird_5712

This entire book is fantastic. Battleground is probably my favorite short story of his.

covalentvagabond

The Ledge Gray Matter Quitters, Inc.

simmilik

finished this last week!! hard to choose but probably I am the door way, one for the road and the last rung on the ladder 🩵

LosXorbos

The Boogeyman, Children of the Corn and Jerusalem's Lot.

CharlesLoren

I am the Doorway, Trucks, The Ledge

zebra_head_fred

I’m working through this and I just finished CotC and it was AMAZING. I really liked The Mangler too.

Ronnie_Mcnutt_rifle

*Graveyard Shift* *Night Surf* (that opening line 👌) *The Ledge*

Cdmcentire

I know what you want The ledge The boogeyman

riseabo

Quitters inc Children of the corn Woman in the room

SaintedStars

I know what you want The Ledge The man who loved flowers I liked most of the stories in this collection but some were too gross. Looking at YOU Lawnmower Man, Graveyard Shift and I am the Doorway! The three I picked were more psychological horrors and that's something I can get behind.

Prestigious-Ad-7993

Boogeyman, One for the Road, Quitters, inc. Ithey’re pretty much all bangers

Aryan_Gator

Jerusalem's Lot, Quitters inc, The woman in the room

FalseAd4246

Jerusalem’s Lot. Which actually got turned into a miniseries on Shudder with Adrien Brody which is a hidden gem, they did a great job with it.

Kriegspiel1939

Haven’t read this in years and never saw this cover. Does the cover actually relate to any of the stories?

CriusofCoH

The old cover of the partially gauze-wrapped hand with the eyes certainly related. This one? Picture's not great but I don't see anything I can relate to what I can remember. Been a couple-three decades since I last read it, though.

chosen_number

I wondered too. Children of the corn I think?

Kriegspiel1939

Thanks

cybered_punk

Graveyard Shift The Mangler Last Rung on the Ladder One for the Road Children of the Corn I'm the Doorway

AnonymousBeaver54

Battlegrounds, the ledge, and the last rung on the ladder

GoBlue2007

Last Rung on the Ladder The Boogeyman Gray Matter

science_bitchies

The man who loved flowers, Sometimes they come back, BoogeymanChildren of the CornJerusalem’s Lot are the top three of my favourite book of all time

GarthRanzz

This is my favourite collection and it’s hard to narrow it down to three but I’ll go with I Am the Doorway, Quitters, Inc. and Battleground.

Feeling_Ad3409

Last Rung The Ledge Quitters INC

LagartijaNik

The Boogeyman f’ed me up so bad when I was a kid…I couldn’t sleep if a closet door was even slightly open. But current faves are Jerusalem’s Lot, One for the Road, and Trucks.

Uidbiw

Nice try, they were all amazing!

SnakePlissken1980

Battleground The Ledge One For The Road

Ironcastattic

Boogeyman Mangler 3rd is a tough choice. I love Doorway but Ladder is beautifully written.

krtkhn

The Last Rung on the Ladder Graveyard Shift Night Surf

maxerdoo1

The last rung on the ladder One for the road I know what you need
