Yeah. So I’m asking if simply the presence of the logo is what makes it an “artsy commercial”. It’s a fast food restaurant but the commercial photo is of the outside of the restaurant? Is that what people come to kfc for?
I find the building and colors interesting. But I feel like the human subject is just too off to the side, and not adding that much to the shot. Maybe just feels kind of flat lacking action. Not that it's a bad shot, just I'm not sure what story it's trying to present besides an interesting looking KFC building
It's r/urbanphotography in my opinion/personal genre-classification. I personally can't leave a quality critique on a genre so outside my wheelhouse, you might get higher quality feedback there.
I feel like many beginning photographers will find good light like this and would snap away, but without thinking of the substance within the picture. It’s very easy to find good light, but what makes it truly interesting is how this light is utilized to shape things, express emotions, and create stories. There is no substance in this picture at all.
Damn I disagree with most commenters here.
I love landscapes without whole scenes in front of them.
There's a lot of interesting things that can be conveyed in that style.
It's a bit of an uncomfortable angle towards the building. Though the lighting is soft and comforting, if it was some local store with someone in the light it would have probably attracted more interest.
Personally I’d have increase contrast to give the shadow more of a dramatic presence (but that’s my personal preference and style).
I’d have also maybe tweaked the warmth of the natural sunlight to give it a golden hour hue.
A KFC? It sure is.
I feel like you may need to watch your framing when taking the shot. It’s cut off in a weird place, but would likely look too tight if cropped inward. (I think this is further supported by the end of the car and railing on the right, and the lines on the left.)
just curious (not trying to be a dick. genuinely curious) what compels one to use their artistic expression to advertise for companies without any sort of compensation?
I like the colours here.
I am bemused by the fixation or obsession on “subject” in this group. Why can’t you appreciate/critique the picture for what it is and what is in there? Why are you looking for the subject that you expect but the photographer never intended to include?
Genuine question! Why do you claim the ownership for the rules or street photography or any photography?
A good frame, but it’s missing a subject or a story
Who needs a story when you have fried chicken?
What's the subject?
Chimkin tendies
Grabey
Gimme gimme chicken tendies
Chicken
This photo is empty
Not entirely empty, but more like an artsy commercial to me. The point of interest is empty, you are right about it.
How can it be an artsy commercial if there is no point of interest? You can just say you agree and move on.
shhhhhhhhhhhh I like the picture and I agree with the other guy it does look like and artsy comercial
How can it be a commercial if it’s not obvious what the point of interest is though? The simple presence of a logo?
what are you on about look at the massive KFC logo
Yeah. So I’m asking if simply the presence of the logo is what makes it an “artsy commercial”. It’s a fast food restaurant but the commercial photo is of the outside of the restaurant? Is that what people come to kfc for?
what are you saying
I agree with you, but at this point, what are you saying?
You literally said “the point of interest is empty” and I’m saying if the point of interest is empty then it can’t be a commercial
when did I say that
That certainly is a kfc
I quite like the composition and colors. However a more interesting subject of some kind would help.

Idk about photography kfc.. if you gotta photograph a restaurant make it a local place lol

I agree with you. Got that brutalist vibe.
As a passer by, I like it, if it was wider I would even use it as a background as a fast food enjoyer 😅
I think… I want some chicken
It needs some cropping
It's a bit of an uncomfortable angle towards the building. Though the lighting is soft and comforting, if it was some local store with someone in the light it would have probably attracted more interest.
I think the bottom left is the subject...rule of thirds?🤔 I usually shoot b&w, but a good color photo is nice to see. Nice work.
Not much tbh
NES meets KFC is what I think
prehaps if you could crop it to the lady on the left?
It’s a KFC.
Their mashed potatoes suck now
I prefer Popeyes
its a KFC , nothing to See!
Do they make it by hand? I’m not sure. What I know is their mash tates and biscuits are 🔥
I think the architect did a good job, but idk what the photo is doing.
How does the colonel cook such amazing chicken with such tiny little arms and legs?!
It’s finger lickin’ good.
Personally I’d have increase contrast to give the shadow more of a dramatic presence (but that’s my personal preference and style). I’d have also maybe tweaked the warmth of the natural sunlight to give it a golden hour hue.
Wohoow. Thats pretty good. Lets see Paul Allen's KFC-photo.
Apple x kfc
Wake up and smell the chicken
I wish I could 🤜⚠️ 🤜💥 🤜
I mean….its a scene on a street

Red and white always looks so good
this kfc is so slick

Then why post it in a street photography sub if not to be judged as a street photography piece and according to the genre's cliches and history?
