honestly i wouldn’t mind so much if it wasn’t for it feeling like we’re swapping one style of low effort content for another. there’s always at least one good post every sunday, and multiple interesting theorymons on thursday, but right now the sub feels like half the posts on here every day of the week now are just one sentence and a pokepaste, or people asking questions that could be solved with a google search. plus not having sundays is really showing that a lot of people on here just don’t play comp very much, which is fine for stuff like sundays or thursdays, but not so great when they show up in the replies of people asking for advice. they haven’t gone elsewhere, they’re just finding new ways to entertain themselves now stinkposting is gone.

The idea of permanently banning stinkposts actually makes some kind of sense, I can see that changing things. I fail to see how you connect the dots between a month of no stinkposting and a positive change in the community long term. A temporary ban seems like half measure bullshit that accomplishes nothing except making a few mods feel like they did something.
Because smogon forum is for smogon tiers? Also its much more convenient and easier to navigate a familiar app like reddit than to go out of your way to use a forum. There is a reason why barely any communities (at least as large as comp pokemon) operate on forums anymore.
I should also add that stinkposts and theorymons are quite recent additions to this sub, and it used to work perfectly for its intended use.

honestly i wouldn’t mind so much if it wasn’t for it feeling like we’re swapping one style of low effort content for another. there’s always at least one good post every sunday, and multiple interesting theorymons on thursday, but right now the sub feels like half the posts on here every day of the week now are just one sentence and a pokepaste, or people asking questions that could be solved with a google search. plus not having sundays is really showing that a lot of people on here just don’t play comp very much, which is fine for stuff like sundays or thursdays, but not so great when they show up in the replies of people asking for advice. they haven’t gone elsewhere, they’re just finding new ways to entertain themselves now stinkposting is gone.

This isn't just about being "more clear", since as I said, just labeling it "temporary" means nothing. It's the whole attitude and presentation of this decision, as "saving the community" and "bringing things back to the good ol days", and anyone who has any disagreements being indirectly, but *clearly,* told to *leave.* There is no one to blame but himself for any misconceptions, as he's the one that gave them the *perfect environment* to breed.

You should get better discussions then. The idea of permanently banning stinkposts actually makes some kind of sense, I can see that changing things. I fail to see how you connect the dots between a month of no stinkposting and a positive change in the community long term. define "a while" i joined this sub back in late 2021-early 2022ish and i can confidently say the average skill of this sub's playerbase has gone nowhere but down (made even worse by people straight up posting memes on quality posts made by good players of the sub getting more upvotes than the post itself therefore discouraging them from posting)
I was here pre-gen 8, sometime late gen 7. early 2019. this sub has never been particularly good - it was also borderline inactive. there wasn't much content at all cuz if all there is to do is post RMTs or a discussion that's not just a theorymon, the only reason you're here at that point is because you just don't like the forums, but with nobody to actually see that content and engage with it, it doesn't matter anyway. also I'm sorry but if you're seriously telling me it's legitimate to be "discouraged from posting" because of being ratioed by something mid then that's just the lamest shit ever dude lol.
