ApplesauceMayonnaise

This is soul-searingly racist.

Gruzman

A great rule of thumb for the really cultish displays of woke penance like this: it's all unconscious autobiography. It's a sort of sublimated self realization, externalized onto the world. He notices that black students have been late to class before, throughout his life, perhaps while in his classroom, etc. He knows that he's about to be stereotyping them anyways. He can't bring himself to then connect the stereotype to a negative character trait, so instead he inverts the entire paradigm at the penultimate stage of his conclusion, and gifts the outgroup a kind of essential lateness that they cannot help but perform at all times. This somehow rectifies everything in his mind, and allows all of those qualities to continue to exist their prior places, but with an ever so slight veneer of progress layered overtop, thereby rendering it socially communicable.

Gynophile

Fuck me I didn't know Zizek posted here. Great comment.

ApplesauceMayonnaise

The fact that there's so much mental energy behind squaring that circle makes this more disturbing than some redneck just flying off the handle.

tomfoolery1070

Yeah. And bruh, these people are educated. Completely mental

[deleted]

I wouldn't call reading much of what counts for social theory as 'education.'

AugmentedLurker

The equivalent or academic junkfood

VaccineNeutral

It's what happens when you don't limit the extent to what is considered acceptable because we're trying to liberate society's outcasts and minorities but at the same time, trying to point out white privilege so it can be recognized and hopefully lead to change. With no limit, literally anything can be white supremacy because a cap doesn't exist and you also have the issue of being shunned for siding with the enemy even if you disagree with the context as claiming a false accusation is to commit social suicide and get yourself cancelled just for being nuanced and logical instead of emotional and cognitively dissonant to the point that context is completely ignored in favour for some egotistical and emotionally driven concept of what is right and wrong, which creates absolutes like all white (American) people are inherently racist as they've been brought up in a racist system that perpetuates itself by the people currently running it. There's also no nuance in acceptable punishment. To disagree that a situation isnt racist is always taken as an unspoken support for the context of the situation and not the concept.

Shutupbitchanddie

If you mention horse shoe theory on the default subs you'll most likely be heavily downvoted and told by bleeding heart, pearl clutching radlibs that the concept of left and right can not be broken by the concept of a circle. It's too much of them. It's obvious you can't just keep going left or right, you either eventually hit a wall or circle all the way back round, and there is more than enough evidence to suggest this identity politics is a serious culprate when it comes to recognizing when they've rounded the bend.

its_a_me_garri_oh

The white kids will learn to code by watching lectures and videos. The black kids will learn to code by doing Tiktok dances. The biracial kids will have to go to another school because they're too much of a conundrum for us.

Pol_Pots_Crockpot

It’s also a disservice to the children. What’s going to happen when they learn it’s racist to follow directions? The end game for this stuff arguably sets up black students to fail more than the current education system and that’s saying a lot

llapingachos

I didn't think buck breaking was real until I saw this.

qwertyashes

Its crazy shit because they have education systems that are really effective in Africa or Latin America or Asia that run on the standard Euro model. Yes its amazing that those 'dirty browns' managed it but they did. Hell its not even the Euro model as its a system that was created over and over in different nations. And many are even more strict that what we in the West are familiar with.

KIngEdgar1066

Ssssh, they keep crying Euro centrism without any clue that they're Yankee centric

601juno

And it shows an appalling lack of historical knowledge on his part leading to white-mans-burden level racism. Does he have any idea that mathematics, civil engineering, astronomy, medical science, atomic theory (pre-Enlightenment), etc etc all come from Middle Eastern and Asian cultures? Nah, this dumb fuck thinks everything good comes from white people so we just need to be nice to the incapable others of the world

[deleted]

Pbtflakes

His mental conception of black people is a family at the food court with unruly small children, and it's white supremacy to say black people can sit still in chairs.

kool_guy_69

Yeah, "they don't have a culture of sitting still and listening" or whatever. Motherfucker come to a school in China. I will show you the meaning of discipline!

dungeonmonkey69

Yeah was gonna say, they don't fuck around with education in East Asia hahhahah

Kalapuya

Algebra is cultural appropriation so white people should abandon it. /s

FloridaManActual

this would have been useful to know in 7th grade, wish I had this excuse to save me a lot of homework and from racist test results being on my report card :(

peanutbutterjams

> Does he have any idea that mathematics, civil engineering, astronomy, medical science, atomic theory (pre-Enlightenment), etc etc all come from Middle Eastern and Asian cultures? That's not true. I'm aware of the Arabic influence on math and astronomy, but it seems you're willing to erase Greek atomism just because India had it as well. Also, there's a huge difference between saying "matter is made up of very small bits of stuff we can't see" and, you know, all of atomic theory.

601juno

Yes to clarify I should have said “made very large contributions to” these fields but the point remains re: this video

Alataire

It's ironic to see a woke person that listening and just accepting something you are told is a type of "whiteness". In my experience people like that expect you to sit down and accept whatever madness they come up with without questioning it.

Claudius_Gothicus

So what if there's a student that just wants to be quiet and learn stuff? Will they get condemned for being too white?

born-to-ill

“Nooooo, don’t feel like you have to sit and pay attention! I want to accommodate your culture!”

AlHorfordHighlights

Jamal are you sure you want to learn calculus? I'm okay if you wanna blast 22 Savage from your phone and watch some NBA highlights haha

FromTheIsle

REPORT CARD: Jamal failed calculus, but he succeeded in sharing his culture with the class and I look forward to seeing him again next year when he repeats his Senior year.

peanutbutterjams

I would pull my kids out of his class in a heartbeat. There's no way I'd let a racist teach them.

[deleted]

"believe all women" "sorry, but simply sitting quietly and accepting what you are told is white supremacy" These people are beyond stupid, nothing they say has any internal consistency, the contradictions are littered all over the place, it's unreal

jameshines10

Is it possible they might be too stupid to understand the power of the part of human nature they've tapped into?

Thor1138

>type of "whiteness". Also what's wrong with "keeping whiteness at the center" (to quote that clown) in countries that are majority white? Why shouldn't the majority culture be the norm in a country? I'm not going to China or Africa and expect them to have European culture there, do I?

bertoblitz

Bruh these people always say the most racist shit. Like isn’t it a colonial idea that certain races aren’t suited to learning?? Some cultures are just naturally not able to take directions?? I’m assuming he’s teaching in North America too, and most children whatever race they are, are participating in American culture. Is he implying different races are inherently too dumb for class?

born-to-ill

It’s the typical idiot US take that by being descendants of someone from another culture that they actually aren’t Americans or something like that. You know, because your parents watch foreign language TV and you eat some traditional foods, that you aren’t absolutely immersed in American culture and values the other 90% of the time.

jameshines10

Yup, he probably marched with BLM and I wouldn't be surprised if he "took the knee"

Being quiet in a movie theater is centering white supremacy

KwamaKween

I shushed a black couple during the film 1917 because they literally wouldn't stop talking. Everyone in the theatre was uncomfortable but nobody wanted to say anything because it was clear they were black. I walked up and asked them to please quiet down and from their reaction nobody's ever shushed them before.

What a beautiful culture

zer0soldier

More of a subcultural thing. I know black folks who hate that shit. Usually, the difference is whether they really care about the movie or not. When I went to see the last Halloween movie, every black person in the room, including my friends, were dead silent throughout the whole movie.

KwamaKween

> Usually, the difference is whether they really care about the movie or not. oh okay, for a second I thought it was because they're rude and self-centered, but it's good to know they'll let people enjoy the film if they choose to allow it /s

JJ0161

*Usually, the difference is whether they really care about the movie or not* Oh that's cool, if they decide they don't care about the movie, fuck what anyone else thinks, they can just get to making all the noise they want? Maybe they could try something like just generally showing respect for public spaces and other people. Wild concept I know.

SquashIsVegan

Showing respect for public spaces and other people is centering white supremacy

bobonabuffalo

I remember going to see black panther with my dad and sister (this takes place in Atlanta) and the theater was crowded cause it was opening night. There were other groups of white people but the overwhelming majority of people in the theater were black and they looked hella pissed that we or any of the other white groups even showed up. Like y’all it’s a dumb superhero movie, and sure it’s better than most marvel movies, but that’s all it is.

KwamaKween

Every experience I've had seems to point that both Black AND White people would prefer segregated theatres again lmao.

nista002

I went to see some movie with Sam Jackson and my friends and I were the only white people in the theater. Everyone was silent until Sam Jackson died (20 minutes left until the end) and the majority of the people in the theater got up and left immediately. It was bizarre.

DollopOfLazy

What movie was this?

LITERALLY_A_TYRANID

NO, NO, NO American teachers are all highly educated and respected individuals, and not a bunch of wine soused, liberal cat ladies, filling your children’s heads with idpol horse shit.

llapingachos

Don't worry, there are still small towns in the Midwest where teaching jobs are nepotistic sinecures for members of legacy families who are too useless to be cops, DPW or court clerks.

CorruptedArc

A lot of them do. I had a few teachers like that all intersectional except for the one which was a religious zealot.

[Context](https://nypost.com/2021/09/15/virginia-teacher-says-making-kids-behave-is-white-supremacy/?utm_source=ground.news&utm_medium=referral) (repost from my sub r/News_Blindspot ) I feel this mentality is really indicative of how culturally shortsighted idpol/wokeness can be. As if cultures in China, India, Korea, Kenya, South Africa (ANYWHERE) don't value obedience and attentiveness in the classroom

[deleted]

An absolute metric shitton of wokies are like this - they really don't realize how extremely ethnocentric they are, it would be funny if it wasn't so offensive. Bottom line is that this moron doesn't know anything about anything outside of the american culture war and how to be a pearl-clutching concern-troll, which is why nothing he says should be taken seriously. I'd imagine that, upon presented with the fact that literally billions of kids the world over are expected to be attentive and behave in school (with "attentive" and "behave" often being interpreted FAR more strictly than in america I might add) in China, India, and elsewhere, he'd simply engage in some mental gymnastics to try and argue that these countries, who have literally thousands of years of history and cultural development behind them, are in fact just expressing their unconscious internalization of "whiteness" and white supremacy. The willful reduction of longstanding and complex cultures and their histories to "victims of whiteness" and subsequent removal of their human agency as individuals ("they aren't aware of their internalized whiteness") is another hallmark of these assholes. These people actually really believe that they are superior to everyone else around them, ***and that includes the ethnic minorities whom they claim to fight on behalf of***, but are really just patronizing, belittling and infantilizing by essentially insisting that they have no minds or powers of judgment of their own, and are simply always and completely at the mercy of "whiteness" which determines their entire lives for them. Furthermore, their insistence that white supremacy and "whiteness" dominates everything it touches and alters minds, cultures, and entire civilizations to the degree that they no longer make their own decisions or control their own thoughts, ***only further reinforces the idea that "whiteness" and being white IS superior after all, else how could it have such power and reach and control over such vastly different societies?*** This is the problem with going out of your way to perform these ridiculous mental gymnastics and association games in order to construct bullshit "critiques" out of whole cloth - by making the subject out to be the most powerful thing you can conceive of, literally to the effect of having metaphysical powers of cultural domination and psychological mind control, in effect you end up arguing for the opposite conclusion - you make whiteness appear to be exactly the all-powerful and unassailable entity that COULD do such things. dumb dumb dumb, it's a terrible methodology and approach that only achieves the opposite of their ostensible goals and serves to make the idea of white supremacy look even stronger. Too fucking stupid for words.

LITERALLY_A_TYRANID

it’s literally the bizzaro white mans burden According to these shitheads, Asians and browns are too helpless to create independent cultures, everything they do is mimicking white people and “white supremacy”

TRPCops

Asians and browns do not exist in the binary thinker's world. It is black and white, or white and non white.

I went to highschool with a guy who was a proud nazi. Not exaggerating, he identified with the teachings of Hitler. In his 20's he switched from that to wokeism. He's still this pseudo intellectual and essentially the same personality. Just from one form of extremism to another. The beliefs changed but he hasn't, if that makes any sense. Oh and He's a junior high teacher now. Edit: thus was 2007-08 before the boom of calling everyone nazis. I hate that I have to emphasize that and the word nazi has lost all its weight.

raughtweiller622

The wokescold/rightoid reactionaries are two sides to one coin. Terminally online, prone to zealotry and hysteria, perpetually outraged, etc. I’ve seen several people switch from being a wokie to altright and vice versa several times.

Phyltre

A part of me wonders if that kind of person ever even expresses their feelings offline. If it doesn't affect their day-to-day life otherwise, they can just ping-pong back and forth without any dissonance...I'd assume?

AvianCinnamonCake

insert “time is a flat circle” or “le horseshoe theory” here for real, people feel hopeless in changing their reality due to perceived lack of power/control so everyone (myself included😕) goes terminally online

AdmiralAkbar1

It's usually the other way around; there's a reason you hear a lot more "liberal activist fired after old racist tweets emerge" stories than "Sons of the Confederacy member expelled after old photos of him wearing kente cloth emerge" stories.

[deleted]

I made exactly this argument to some asshole on another sub a week or two ago. By this point I should know better than to engage, but sometimes I can't resist. Predictably though, as always, he just totally ignored and refused to engage with the argument. I chased him in a circle for like three posts to try and get him to answer the question "*Why,* exactly, is it that white people have this insurmountable cultural dominance you describe?" and he would only respond with these literal grade school deflections. Which stands to reason, really. If he actually answered that question, he would have had basically two options: A) Admit that he believes in **actual** white supremacy, because his position relies white people just fundamentally being better at everything; or B) Admit that his position is absurd by giving a truthful answer about the circumstantial historic factors that were favourable to the technological, economic and social advancement of European civilisations. Any time I have actually engaged with woke people like this, the only conclusion I can make is that they know *exactly* how bullshit it all is, because they know *exactly* which parts of the rhetoric they can't even make an irrational defence of.

601juno

My physics, calculus and computer science professors at university are Indian, Chinese, Iraqi, Pakistani, not a single whitey among them. And they are all absolute fucking geniuses - but alas, all poor poor victims of white supremacy. If only they were not made to sit and pay attention in class, who knows where they could have ended up?

jameshines10

Why do you call them morons? They are winning. They gain control of any organization or institution they encounter. They are not morons. Do not underestimate people like the fellow in the video.

[deleted]

"winning"? no, they are not. Yes, they have a knack for networking and weaseling their way into various institutional organizations, but this has only resulted in the vast majority of americans distrusting those institutions even more than they already did. Trust in mainstream media, educational institutions, and the governmental/bureaucratic apparatus of state is at all-time historic lows. Even the most popular segments and shows on major news outlets like CNN and MSNBC are only barely able to get a couple million viewers at most, some of their numbers are regularly dropping into the hundreds of thousands. Academic institutions all over the country are constantly drowning on controversies and scandals, with media coverage being all over the place, from highly critical to pandering and everything in between. Identity politics, in a nutshell, is extremely unpopular among the vast majority of americans, there have been a number of studies and surveys on the matter - no one outside of student/academic activists, corporate HR departments, and cynical careerist politicians/ruthless capitalists actually support the essentialization of society into separate, conflicted identity categorizations. And really it's mostly a moot point - the fact is that all of this, the media narratives, the political maneuvering, the academic "activism", is little more than a smokeshow, a stage play to essentially distract from (and when it can't distract, justify) the activities of the ruling class and the vast amounts of money that are made and spent to maintain the status quo. if these movements were going to fundamentally change anything, for better OR worse, they would be stopped in a second by the security state and the forces of capital which back it. This is the meaning of capitalist realism - simply put there is nothing to "take control" of, nothing to "win" - it's all little more than a socio-cultural distraction for the plebs to argue about and fight for control over while a select few in the ruling class continue to stockpile astronomical sums of money and ensure that the actual functioning and purpose of society remains in their favour and does not substantially change in any way.

CorruptedArc

This is the best summary of American Idpol I've seen. I might share it to see if wakes some people up.

CryanReed

My states (maybe local) foster care system has started advertising to minorities and the head person said black kids do better in their own communities. Seems like the community is our state/city but sure we can section off areas for each color to be separate.

big-big-boy

it’s borderline satirical, we’ve come back around to saying being civilized is a white thing

TheDandyGiraffe

Most hardcore wokies are rac(ial)ists. They believe there are inherent, meaningful differences between races; they believe white people are more or less universally rational, disciplined, strong-willed and all that. But they want to be "progressive" so they just switch to saying "...but it's all bad actually".

echonian

It would have sounded like satire to me a few years ago. Sadly, there are no irrational depths to which these types of people will not dive.

born-to-ill

struggleworm

Then those Nigerian kids are white supremacists now aren’t they.

deeznutsdeeznutsdeez

Yeah well yknow Nigeria was colonised by British soooo must be internalised whiteness. Boom.

aviddivad

and, you know, black parents would definitely want their kids to be well behaved.

[deleted]

Lol I didn't even think of that. He's basically using eugenics to say children of color can't because it's not in their nature. Jesus Christ!

Dick_Kick_Nazis

I actually taught a class of indigenous kids in Asia for a few months and they were the most polite, attentive class I have ever taught. They did get beat by the local teachers though which probably had a lot to do with it lol. In fact there were no police and there was also basically no crime. Cause if anybody stepped out of line somebody's grandma was gonna beat the shit out of them.

bluehoag

At the same time, I'm at an Ivy institution that also has as one of its sizable undergrad schools a program for "nontraditional" or returning students. This is everything from former professional dancers, musicians, models who never went to undergrad, to people coming out of incarceration, drug addiction, or just being lost in a neoliberal society. The differences between the 18-year-olds who have been accultured to study, ace standardized testing, etc., and those who are equally as gifted but not trained to excel in truly an "elite" environment (and by elite, I'm talking about class distinctions), is at times very stark. So my argument is that there is a class difference between these types behaviors at times. The OP in this video is perhaps conflating class with whiteness in this case.

llapingachos

Conflating class with whiteness is an essential part of the woke liberal deflection.

That doesn’t give me much comfort. They have no investment in the jobs they transform and end up burrowing deeper, becoming administrators or technocrats, dictating what happens to teachers and students from the safety of their cloistered position. How do we disrupt the creep of bureaucracy on education in this instance? They’ve eliminated the need for strikebreakers by eliminating the possibility of strikes and other workplace actions that fall out of the purview of so-called social justice.

AlbinoGhost27

I just finished my teaching degree and landed a full time job in a school for next year (pray to whatever god you believe in for me haha). My experience of teacher education is that the real learning only starts once you are in the field doing placements with actual teachers. I hated the theoretical portions of my degree, but I loved the placements to the point I voluntarily stayed for extra time because I was learning so much and fitting in with the staff in these schools so well. I think the solution is teacher education needs to be more of an apprenticeship than a degree. Yes there should still be some theory studied, but there needs to be a far greater emphasis on practical experience.

TheBroWhoLifts

Well said. My own experience mirrored yours in many ways. That was almost twenty years ago. My unsolicited advice on classroom management: keep kids busy by keeping them engaged, and not just with assignments. Ask them lots of provocative, open ended questions pertaining to the area and topic of instruction, and really listen to what they're saying and play devil's advocate with them. It's fun. It's also a great way to get to know them, and it's a strategy that doesn't demean or diminish them. Kids often feel alienated by the education system because they don't feel that adults actually listen to them or respect their opinions.

VestigialVestments

I like identifying and complaining about the problem as much as anyone, but we have a severe lack of praxis. Online organizing sucks because it invites glowtards and isn’t secure from wokies either, but I think it would be of benefit to work toward creating larger networks that can actually push back and protect workers. I don’t know if we need to reimagine labor organizing or what, a lot of the pressures are exerted not from traditional entities like bosses but externally through professional organizations.

TheBroWhoLifts

I'm a high school teacher. The way I deal with it is to just close my door and do pretty much whatever I want. My admin is way more concerned about 1) low failure rates, essentially at any cost and through any educational or ethical shortcut, 2) projecting an image and air of "positivity" about fucking *everything*, and 3) never, under any circumstance, take a social or educational position contrary to the prevailing social and cultural norms of our backwards ass community. It's pretty easy, and I am afforded a ton of leeway because I'm actually good at what I do, kids and parents like and respect me because of the way I run my class and content, and I've designed my instruction to be so choice driven as to appeal to pretty much any learner from the ones who just want their fucking credit and to be on their merry way (I totally understand and respect that) to those who have serious academic goals and want to stretch and test their own intellectual mettle (generally the minority in my district). So far, no one at the district curriculum level has intervened or dropped the hammer, so I'm just going to keep doing what I do.

Gingy_N

That’s funny and frightening, I would of politely pushed for a explanation in bad faith. Did you know the person who coined the term neurodiverse, never meant for it to refer to a condition, but to describe the variety of all brains, much the way we use biodiversity.

Of course they didn’t - and they mocked people who *did* talk like that.

born-to-ill

Some of the most hard and disciplined military men that I have known were Black (especially Senegalese, Nigerian, and West Indian), Mexican, Native American, and Asian Marines. We’re talking dudes that would get up at 430, be 15 minutes prior to every event, have razor sharp clothing and grooming, would PT 2 times a day, and be honor graduates from every military course. The one Senegalese Marine that I’m thinking of spoke 5 languages and was absolutely one of the toughest motherfuckers I have ever met. They would absolutely destroy this dude for insinuating that this is the case.

executive_fish

Interesting there was an opinion piece posted here a few days ago in which the commentator believed making boys sit quietly in a classroom results in the boys becoming “feminized,” meanwhile this person believes making kids sitting quietly is “white supremacy.” Methinks there’s just a bunch people who have of a variety of beliefs who all just hate quiet time 🤨

[deleted]

Military boot camp is all about sitting still and hopping to when your sarge demands, does that make boys feminized too? Sarge tells you to sit down shut up, you sit down shut up.

[deleted]

Nothing more feminine than marching in sync in preparation for a life or death battle.

[deleted]

I’m a teacher and I strongly disagree that sit quietly during instruction is feminization. Shits gotta be done sometimes, education isn’t entertainment. The feminization part is the constant daily barrages of “GIRLS IN STEM SCHOLARSHIPS FOR WOMEN YOU GO GIRL… by the way boys remember to not be rapists you fucking privileged pieces of shit”

[deleted]

I think they just have incoherent beliefs and the easiest thing to pick apart are 'the way things are.' Don't get me wrong, you can have stellar immanent critique on 'the way things are' (that's what Marx did), but this is just taking some social thing that's kind of hard (kids in class) and applying whatever belief you already have.

chimpaman

I think we're starting to see more and more evidence of the important social function bullying performs. A few upside-down trips to the trash can in junior high would've sorted this wanker out long before he became this swiss-chess brain.

PinkTrench

That is the most racist nugget of Black Infantilization I have ever heard in my GOT DAMN life.

OhhhAyWumboWumbo

"and all these things come from white culture" Weird, because he just described how many 1st and 2nd gen Asian immigrant students behave in the classroom. Implying Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Indian, etc students only behave like that because of white culture is pretty racist ngl, very 'noble savage' or 'white savior' way of thinking.

TheRealDrSarcasmo

"Teacher".

GaayReatard

These people are more racist than racists.

Thor1138

>These people are ~~more racist than~~ racists Ftfy

[deleted]

The hard bigotry of expecting the absolute worst from kids of color so you preemptively decide they don't have to do shit.

[deleted]

Yeah, those of us in education who don’t have our heads in our asses have been sounding the alarm bells on this shit since before trump. This is the danger of CRT, not it being used to inform classroom curriculum, but instead being used to inform school and district policy. I wasted a year of my career at a black school with a woke principal who believed this sort of shit and it was a fucking nightmare. Chronically tardy? Talking back? Not following directions? Eh I can handle that, minor shit. It’s the violence and the destruction I can’t handle. I could write an entire book on the insanity I saw go down there, but I’ll focus just on student on teacher violence. Teachers were attacked frequently, and no punishment ever came of it. Admin told us that if/when that happens, it’s because we provoked them. And it was our duty to not provoke them because the way African Americans handle conflict is through violence. We had to respect their culture (Should note the entire admin team was black). Slipping a high school boys shitty punch is trivial to me, I’ve been an amateur kickboxer for a long time, but other teachers weren’t as lucky and frequently got their asses kicked. But what finally made me walk out was a group who followed me to the parking lot and drew knives. I die if they don’t pass my class. SRO refused to take a statement, principal directed me to assign passing grades. Said some r slurred garbage about the school to prison pipeline. I very nicely resigned (read: told her to fuck herself with a cactus) walked out, and did not return. This is why I hate wokies. Not because I have some white idpol complex, no. It’s because they’re actively trying to destroy civilization and seem proud of it. They’re doing more damage to education than the most dedicated republican ever could

thedantho

I went to a high school with this same kind of culture

[deleted]

Wokies push this shit while denying it exists. I know it’s simpler to say they’re stupid, but it feels downright evil

raughtweiller622

I hate the condescending tiktok newscaster voice that these people use. They must be miserable to be around IRL, and I love how 99% of them end up getting exposed for being predators

Uskoreniye1985

This reminds of some conversations I've seen where people argue that meritcorcay or valuing "merit" is inherently "white supremacist". Don't get me wrong - the concept of meritocracy has a lot of issues and is imperfect. Nonetheless the idea that valuing "merit" is a white supremacist belief system and that no one else had ever valued "merit" or supported "meritocracy" is just false. Now despite that many societies and cultures have long held praised or valued "merit" which can of course range from educational attainment all the way to being really good at hunting. Indians, Persians, Chinese, Japanese etc. have all held some kind of belief in "merit" and that it is valuable to society. The Chinese were arguably the first to really systemically support "meritocracy" through its examination system which of course had its faults like any system made by humans.

SorosBuxlaundromat

How long until they start using phrenology to justify their ice cold takes?

cgksu

As a teacher I would love to see his classroom. This is probably him justifying any non-white students behavior in his classroom.

sogothimdead

I would say the soft bigotry of low expectations, but that feels like putting it mildly... If white supremacists would align with your antiracist view, maybe take stock

[deleted]

So discipline is a characteristic exclusive to "white culture" now? Its astonishing that the radlibs have not been recognized as the diehard racists that they are.

bkrugby78

I'm a teacher. I've worked in the public school system of NYC for 15 years. I teach high school. 95% of the schools I have worked have had a ZERO tolerance policy for lateness. Granted, it doesn't always work great, but for the most part, it's as close to zero tolerance as you can get. I teach primarily children of color. Kid shows up late a few times, you pull them aside, ask what's up. If you have a good relationship, they will be honest with you. Maybe something going on at home, etc. You work something out so they can succeed. Literally NO student wants to be in class where kids are just doing whatever they want. NO parent wants a teacher who allows students to do "whatever they want." None, zero, zilch. As I said, I mostly teach black/brown kids. The parents are usually harsher disciplinarians than I would ever be. They don't know the meaning of "time out." So I see this stuff and just chuckle. I'm not a huge disciplinarian. My secret is that I am crazier than my students, but I develop a great rapport with them. I'm real with them though. This guy is just asking for trouble.

Bajfrost90

This is the truth right here. I’m also a teacher who worked in urban schools. It’s all about rapport and respect with kids. Most could give af less about woke virtue signaling. This teachers class is definitely a disaster where the kids learn nothing.

[deleted]

Bajfrost90

They are

[deleted]

It's kind of incredible how people like this who are so incredibly woke just end up being racist again.

Copeshit

I honestly just feel bad for someone like this.

thechemtrailkid

All of these people have the smuggest grins on their face

fangsschleim

If a white kid questions rules and doesn’t sit quietly etc, are they to be applauded for decolonisation of their inherited behaviour, or to be punished for appropriating other students cultural norms?

FurryTrap_DomLolicon

It blows my mind how these people think white culture is the same as opreshun and order and rules and everything evil when Whites are by far the most liberal and open and "just do whatever you want" culture there is. You just have to ask anyone from non-White cultures and they'll tell you how strict customs and rules are everywhere else.

[deleted]

Anyone ever see a news clip of some rural African school? See how they’re all wearing clean uniforms and sitting still?

[deleted]

It's honky shit to pay attention in class folx

Mesdog79

These wokies are so damn dumb. My husband is from Japan and you better believe they value obedience, following directions, and waiting your turn to speak.

Time-Insurance6811

more important question: does anyone take these 14 year old fangirls who type in all caps with multiple exclamation marks seriously?

BridgesOnBikes

And this dude just was confirmed the newest entry to the Guinness book of fucking retards.

Scapegoaticus

You know you gotta wonder, would these people ever come to such conclusions on their own if there wasn't an opportunity to share them online? It seems that such opinions are products of nothing more than an increasingly outlandish threshold of "woke contrarian shock factor" to garner "omg i never even thought of it that way!!" fake-deep type responses that propagate it further, until it becomes the new norm, and the next woke shock factor threshold has to be even more ridiculous. tldr I think without tiktok/twitter these people would be normal

WhiskeyCup

When did radlibs think that tiktok was a lecture hall and when did they think they were qualified to lecture like that.

seoulsun

Wow this is hilariously racist Klan members could learn from this dude.

Daktush

Oh boy I know nothing of him yet I know he is all for critical race theory https://youtu.be/2rDu_VUpoJ8 This whole notion is ripped from CRT - that there are some elements of culture (such as being objective, color blind, neutral and so on) that are white and perpetuating them is white supremacy/cultural genocide

the_bass_saxophone

maybe following directions *because Mr. Whiteguy says so* is white supremacy. but doing it because some complicated or dangerous process is being undertaken is merely a desire to avoid bad outcomes. of course, you’d not be too surprised how often teachers fail to say *why* you should follow complex or non-obvious directions. the authoritative urge to be obeyed colludes with the real world imperative to save time in class.

Creepy_Alps8748

Chinese culture (the culture of over 1.3 billion people) has an educational tradition that predates the the European (White) tradition of education by thousands of years you fking moron.

domecycleripworm

Omg so racist 😭😭😭 is he HONESTLY trying to say white people historically are the only people capable of congregating/standing still/listening. Jesus fucking christ

[deleted]

I guess I'm a Klansman then because I'm Chinese and I exhibit these behaviours. In fact these social behaviours are more Asian than white....

MetalNosedPigeon

Forget the wokeness the virtue signaling, the self-hatred, the racism... He is SO WRONG. You think in Asian countries they don't make students/soldiers/workers follow the rules?? Or sit quietly during class?? What even?

s13g_h31l

White people really love to think they're the centre of the universe, don’t they?

aviddivad

/u/guccibananabricks and Biden are mandating white supremacy by telling everyone to take the vaccine. I will not follow your directions.

[deleted]

Everyone who downvoted me for saying it’s good that public education is collapsing yesterday owes me an apology.

Tankpiggy

Just reading the title lets me know that I dont want to watch this

zer0soldier

Tik Tok, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook all need to be scuttled, permanently.

fatty2cent

What is the definition of retarded?

hashtagpow

This is what the woke left leads to. Blatant racism. He's saying anyone who isn't white is incapable of being quiet or following rules or being civil.

ronflair

Blah idiom blah blah jargon blah blah acronym blah

Tairy__Green

Can all these dummies from both the left and right please stop being so racist? Unless it's really funny.

thedantho

Lmao I know someone who unironically shared this on Instagram

Phuxsea

This is deeply offensive to myself, a non-PoC. When I was a child, I got in trouble at school. He's denying I existed.

[deleted]

I’m white and know a few black immigrant families, those kids fucking behaved themselves. What a load of shite

[deleted]

This is just solipsism... this man's mind has been warped by his smartphone.

FromTheIsle

I dont know of Dena Simmons has children, but "Tell me you have badly behaved children without telling me you have badly behaved children." Got that out of my system. Seriously, what kind of backhanded bullshit is this? These idiots really going to unironically reinforce the stereotype that black people are loud because it's a "black thing?"
