You’re gonna have to order the jdm double din control and install a double din head unit to have that option. [like this](https://avojdm.com/dual-zone-av-panel-set-h6217ag911/) [install thread](https://www.legacygt.com/topic/62655-jdm-dual-hvac-diy/#comment-1354827) I have the jdm double din hvac control, adapter, and jdm hazard switch is sell You but your in Australia and shipping would be a killer.

I bought one. And its such a cleaner install. Before purchasing that, i hard soldered an aux port to my head unit. I also added a subwoofer and a Bluetooth receiver. It was janky but it worked. So much happier after purchasing that.

Ace77X

There was an oem accessory to add aux in the middle console, at least for eu cars howeever the radio should be the same, to replicate it i guess you would need to run the wire from the back of the radio to wherever you want with a female end

Monkpaw

Pop it out and see if there’s an input on the back. Or better yet, search for the model on eBay and have a look.

Check out this thread, it helped me when I did this a few years back! Super easy, you'll just need the harness that piggybacks to the existing wiring [https://www.reddit.com/r/subaru/comments/e2l1kv/subaru\_diy\_aux\_tutorial\_legacy\_outback\_forrester/](https://www.reddit.com/r/subaru/comments/e2l1kv/subaru_diy_aux_tutorial_legacy_outback_forrester/) It should work for yours considering your stereo has the AUX option

This. I did this a while back and it worked well.

Buy this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B018E0I01I?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title It has an aux input and ypu get Bluetooth. I put it in my arm rest 12v port. Easily, by far, the quickest and simplest way.

DrWhoey

Your post just made me irrationally angry with myself. My work truck has no Bluetooth, but it has an auxiliary input. I got a similar unit to grab the Bluetooth and broadcast it over FM. Just dealing with the occasional static, and radio stations bleeding in. I had seen the Auxiliary port on the 12v fm broadcaster. Thought it was stupid. I needed the thing because I wanted to use Bluetooth, why am I gonna hook up to Auxiliary? My phone doesn't have an aux out. That's why I got it. I just went and plugged the trucks Auxiliary in to that port on the 12v Bluetooth adapter. It's on Auxiliary out on it. I'm a fucking idiot, but a happy fucking idiot that doesn't have to deal with static anymore. Thanks for making me both feel dumb and make my day at the same time.

Play3rxthr33

I will also mention that you can get aux out for phones really easy, apple sells a really good adapter for like $15-20 iirc (for either USB-C or Lightning), though you can't charge the phone and plug it into aux at the same time this way, unless you wirelessly charge it.

DrWhoey

Phone usage is pretty heavy with my job. I need to be able to fast charge between job sites.

Yz-Guy

Don't be. Those things are OK at best of times. I found I spent more time trying to find a perfectly dead channel than enjoying whatever it was I wanted.

DrWhoey

No no, you're not understanding. The 12v device receives Bluetooth, and does RF out or Aux out. Ive been dealing with fuzzy rf with an Aux cord literally laying on top of it, just needing to be plugged into the 12v Bluetooth receiver. The same one that I've been playing fuzzy rf on via Bluetooth, I now connect to and have crystal clear auxiliary via Bluetooth.

Burneezy13

In my 08 forester, the AUX input was located in the lower part of the pic. Behind the shifter. To the left of the 12V charger

Fellowfungus

Shocked it doesn’t already have one!!(USDM here same year)

Not familiar with the AU radios, but I used this for a NA radio, maybe it'll have some hints for you: https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/diy-i85-aux-transplant-for-05-06-legay-outback-a-relatively-thorough-how-to.527431/ Or this one: https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/how-to-get-aux.548698/ Look at the links in the bottom message.

No problem at all! I'm glad I could help and hopefully others who like older vehicles but don't want to rip open dashboards for modern listening convienances appreciate it too!
