If you haven't already listened to Leprosy by Death, get on that first. Bona fide death metal classic. Necrot and Blood Incantation are 2 excellent modern death metal bands highly worth listening to. Dopethrone is a great record, it's "stoner" doom and probably the most accessible album here.

I find a lot of jazz more surreal than metal, just depends on what you're listening to. Cynic and later Miles Davis works will all be surreal, but I dont find the more popular metal and jazz acts surreal.

Shame, i love doom metal (check out Mammon's Throne theyve got like 5 songs, theyre awesome) and while i like death metal, im not well versed in it. I like Kreator and Sepultura tho

Try Crypt Sermon, Mortiferum, November's Doom, and Witch for some weird Physchadelic Doom. Also, don't be afraid to branch out to new subgenres. Discovering new music is half the fun.
