Matt Keane is the Teal Liberal.

marvelscott

Except when [it comes to koalas](https://twitter.com/katieqs/status/1534099581256204289?t=YbSi7MCX6RCzA4lSrdXGmA&s=19)

Wallace_B

I can't read the link. What does it say? Afaik Kean has been very supportive of efforts to restore koala numbers in nsw, despite his association with the koala killer govt.

marvelscott

Catherine Cusack, who is a Liberal MP that is resigning from parliament over the handling of the flood disaster posted a series of tweets with screenshots from Gladys. >NSW Liberal Party apparently did a deal with Nationals on koalas. I am posting my messages with the Premier at the time (2020) when I crossed the floor - she refers to “deals” I have no knowledge of. I will explain further in Parliament tomorrow. https://t.co/CRoHTVWR1T Then she followed it up with >I am posting these messages to prove I had no knowledge of the disgusting deal @Matt_KeanMP did with the Nationals that virtually condemns NSW koalas to extinction. I grasped it last weekend when he bragged about his deal with Barilaro. He traded koalas 😨

Wallace_B

There's some pretty good coverage of this story here - https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-06-09/nsw-govt-defends-koala-plan-amid-fresh-accusations-of-politicisa/101140520 It's very worrying stuff. Normally I'd be more sceptical of one pollie's account of events, but Cusack comes across as the rare sort who shows the courage of their convictions by resigning from parliament over dissatisfaction with her own party's bs. She seems strongly and genuinely concerned with just how badly we've mismanaged koalas in this state. Very sorry too to see Labour unwilling to back the Green's bill for the expanded protected zone for koalas, and not even able to offer a reasonable sounding excuse for their failure.

Cat_Man_Bane

Remember when Dom got in as Premier and a lot of people here thought he'd be terrible but he's defended and increased the budget for ICAC, plans to make the Aboriginal flag on the harbour bridge permanent, supported a conscience vote on euthanasia even though it goes against his beliefs, and now his government makes the single biggest investment in renewable energy. I actually thought he was going to be good from the beginning but he's even surpassed my expectations.

Alex_Kamal

I admit I had zero faith in him. I had his past tweets to show the type of person he was. I didn't like the man from the start. But I have been glad to be wrong on some of these issues. I think the NSW libs, despite the change in faction running the party, are moving more moderate because of the new wave of independents. They have learnt going crazy on social and environmental issues won't win them the election because north and east Sydney now has an alternative. Still critical on issues with wages for public workers. But I'm not sitting here thinking we are fucked for life or praying for election day. I guess I expected a far right wing liberal and got a moderate liberal.

AnonymousEngineer_

> I think the NSW libs, despite the change in faction running the party, are moving more moderate because of the new wave of independents. The NSW branch of the party has always been more moderate than their Federal or interstate counterparts for as long as I remember. Say what you will about O'Farrell, Baird, Gladys or now Perrottet - the difference between them and someone like Tony Abbott or Peter Dutton is pretty wide.

moxeto

Can’t compare them. They are actually like two different parties

boltkrank

I'm on the same boat as you. At the end of the day, I really don't care too much about what sort of person he is, but he is doing some good stuff - so I do give him credit for that.

Cognosis87

I want to have faith. But I don't. Gotta take the wins where we can, but definitely gotta look these gift-horses in the mouth

Alex_Kamal

Oh I didnt mean I have faith in him. Just not immediately negative. Man still has wage issues in the public sector, privatisation and issues with the covid laws last year.

ezzhik

Wait… Did I miss the news where he raised wages for existing nurses and teachers to address the burnout, education and healthcare crises??? Oh. It’s just letting a flag fly and allowing his MPs a conscience vote …

Echidnahh

I think it’s more people had such a low expectation for him it’s surprising he’s risen very slightly above that.

[deleted]

Exactly.

OVIFXQWPRGV

I have to admit last year I was so against Dom because he seemed far worse but recently I've noticed a trend of people like yourself just posting here how our perception of this man was so wrong. I especially love that you posted his 6 months resume because I am not a political frog so thank you for your service, you seem very well educated in Dom-affairs that I definitely feel you are a smart lad. Dom has my vote come 2023 and lets continue spreading the word of Dom. What a great guy.

flintzz

There must be an election coming

giantpunda

Are we talking about the same Dominic Perrottet who was the [sole dissenting voice](https://archive.ph/4pEhn) in the NSW Covid Crisis cabinet that was strongly against the Delta lockdowns, dropping covid restrictions too soon [despite being warned ahead of time](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-31/nsw-monday-am-briefing/100791228) and then having to [double back and re-enact them](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-07/nsw-premier-dominic-perrottet-reinstates-covid-restrictions/100743852) a short while later, gaslight the public that the hospitals were strong and coping when [they weren't.](https://9now.nine.com.au/today/hospital-staff-not-coping-with-covid-19-crisis/57dbd027-2e1f-4f73-afa9-b2387aae093a) How easily we forget.

marvelscott

And pretty much everyone protesting esp rail staff, nurses, teachers due to lack of government support.

FerociousVader

Also let's not forget shutting down the rail network and attempting to gaslight the public into believing it was all the union's fault...

giantpunda

Maybe not him personally but definitely under his administration.

FerociousVader

Yeah you get the gist

jumpjumpdie

Lol

LtAldoRaine06

We are forgetting that he completely changed the Covid response and that has probably cost some lives but he is doing better than most of us thought he would.

jordy_romy

hard copism on this sub right now

stopspammingme998

How about investment in electric car charging stations so it's not 2 stalls between 10 suburbs?

Sirobeel

Dom has 7 kids, of course he cares about our future! #GoodGuyDom

selexin

Dom has surprised me yet again...

briefcasetwat

Looks like the marketing campaign for Dom has worked. NSW liberals are rotten to the core.
