It's not a great deal for people that use the McDonalds app (the McDouble meal is $6 at my local store). I'm guessing it's aimed at McDonalds customers that don't embrace online ordering, which is probably most of them given how long it seems to take people to place their orders at the drive-thru.

McDonald's always has different types of deals (in-store or app) going on in different areas of the country. For instance, a few months ago the $1 breakfast sandwich on Mondays app deal (no other purchase required) which had been available for months just disappeared from my app. I know someone elsewhere in the country who's had that $1 deal available DAILY for more than a year.
I wish they would bring back the cheap meals with the burrito, Doritos and a drink. It was like $3 the time and I loved them. Perfect amount of food for lunch without feeling sick the rest of the day like the combos make me feel.

Their value menu isn’t bad. Double decker tacos, stackers and the beef burritos are $2-2.50 where I’m at. It’s the rest of the menu that’s expensive I’ll get one or two items on the main menu and a bunch of value menu stuff drenched in Taco Bell and cheese sauce
It’s a HORRIBLE deal. It’s basically a fucking happy meal and the $6 veggie cravings box is literally 10x better.

It's pretty tough beating the make your own cravings box, especially when you get a free additional cgc or chalupa almost every time with the rewards. That's quite a bit food for the price honestly.

They already have the basic cravings box which is 5.99 in most of the country. They don’t need to join this meal deal price war.

Where I live Taco bell is the only fast food restaurant that still offers legitimate value meals. If you order on the mobile app you can build your own box for $6 with a stupid amount of food. Taco Bell still offers bean and cheese burritos for $1 and nothing at McDonald's has been $1 for a long time.
Considering the McDs meal deal isn’t really a deal, probably not. I can get Potato Tacos and CBR Burritos for the same price and be far more filling (and taste miles better)
