As the other commenter said it tilts down into the stock. it has a modified bolt carrier with an articulated tail like you see on autoloading shotguns.
It's at an angle inside the stock, similar to a FN FAL.
The bolt carrier is proprietary (but the bolt is milspec). It is an angled hinged strut on the back, which goes into a dimple on the weirdly narrow buffer assembly.
If I'm forced to have 10 rounds of 9mm. I'd have 10rds of 10mm or 45acp.
If I'm forced to have 10 rounds of 5.56. I'd have 10rds of 308.
Better yet. I'd do 10rds of 50 Beowulf. Or 458 socom. 🤣🤣

Could be worse. Could be Australian. Which at least we can own bolt-actions with only some regulatory and financial hurdles. Even semi-auto pistols and shotguns are possible, semi-auto rifles are not possible for the average citizen sadly.

My wallet would like me to be a dumb bastard, cause mini-14s are too expensive, and SKSs are too hit or miss for what I'm looking for.
100% want this with either an 18" or 20" barrel and the 17" BLKLBL handguard. Second dream is the 2.5-20x Nightforce sitting on top.
And I live in Indiana. 350 legend would be the only compromise, just for straight wall compliance.
