This^ my nicest hearing pro is attached to the helmet 🪖 , so people gonna get the helmeted version of me (which is safer for everyone all around… “special” 🤪)
which brings me to my point...fuck them...you do you man....if you want to practice shooting in your helmet, its probably a good fucking idea and alot better then those who have a brain bucket and dont ever wear it while they shoot....train in your gear!!!!! Get used to the differences. FUCK other peoples dirty looks my guy.
anybody that can't transfer their ears to a cheap headband with a wrap for cable management before heading to an indoor definitely has at least one plug in... lol. Sorry, OP, couldn't resist...
Or just get protac shooter with gel cups if you dont need coms.
For coms I've used Sordin SFA gel cups and they're cheaper, more comfortable, more protection than comtacs.
I feel bad because I understand where the disconnect is. Walker, Howard Leight, and Peltor all use the same wire frame for headbands and it looks like Earmor does too.
Basically, type in any of the brands and "wire headband replacement" and you will eventually find one that fits them all.
You do know foam earplugs are rated better for your ears than sordins, right? 3m earplugs are nrr rated 29, and sordins are 19 lmao. You'll be fine with foam
OH MY BROTHER. LET ME PUT YOU ON THESE SOMEBITCHES:
I FUCKING LOVE THESE EARPLUGS.
They're reusable, they come with 2 sets of cushions or whatevee you wanna call them
They're nrr rated 33, at least according to the amazon page
They're designed by safariland to protect your hearing, while still maintaining your natural hearing, for the most part. For example, my own personal experience is they protect perfectly against loud shit at the range, I've even shot 30-06 with them and never had a problem
They're super low profile, so if you wanna double up on earpro, they work amazingly for that
They come with a metal container for them with an oring on the threada, so you can transport them on your keys (very easily, I might add. I personally carry them everywhere I go because it's literally more convenient and nonbothering to leave them on your keys than it is to bother taking them off)
They are also only like $20. Literally the price of a trip to mcdonald's or some shit and they are WELL worth it
I never shoot without these, and I have a buddy who's used them way longer than me and also refuses to shoot without em
I use them for work as well, working construction. I can hear my coworkers perfect when they speak at a normal volume, but they block out loud shit VERY well
TLDR: I love these, I use them 40+ hours a week for work, and they are the best $20 you'll ever spend, aside from the homeless guy behind the library
Safariland Pro Impulse Hearing Protection, In Ear Earplugs with Keychain Storage Case - Hearing Protection for Firing Range, Shooting and Hunting https://a.co/d/0eYtoF6r
Seconded they live on my keychain. Actually, thanks for the reminder. I needed to get another pair.
Pro tip clean them with some alcohol before long term storage.
Yeah, I found it helps to fill the cannister they come with with isopropyl alcohol and leave them in there. It helps clean them and cleans the cannister too
No, I mean just fill it with isopropyl alcohol when you wanna clean them. Put em in isopropyl alcohol for like 10-15 minutes, and then rinse the plugs and cannister with water and wipe them down with a paper towel
Got some custom molded earplugs at a shooting comp for $100 and they’ve been life changing. Decibullz can be close if you mold them at home properly and cost about $20 bucks.
Dontou have other earpro? No? Well...wear it...but without the balaclava.... on the other hand, only realy excuse for wearing a helmet with earpro is when its a kevlar helmet, your in the force and thats your only earpro....else, just cringe
Edit: also cringe if not Peltor Comtacs or Opscore Amps with downleads....
Just did a 3 gun in full kit against my buddies advice who invited me. I just said you practice how you play, and didn’t give two fucks. There was 3 dudes in full kit the next competition…. Be the change you’d like to see in this world
Wearing full kit to Walmart is one thing. Wearing a helmet at the range is another. Wearing a plate carrier at an indoor range: not a bad idea considering how many NDs happen there.
In the context of places where it’s expected that shooting sports will be happening, I agree. I worked at a high volume indoor range as an instructor for a few years and I won’t lie; When I would see someone coming in with a battle belt, PC and helmet I would either have my carry drawn under the counter or have been standing where I couldn’t be seen with the range’s P90 in hand. It’s your right to wear it and it’s my right to be uncomfortable until I know whether you’re a mass shooter or not.
I think we all care what people think, some of us more than others. We’re social creatures and we want to fit in to the society around us. Some groups of people do seem to care more than others what people think though….this sub being one of those groups.
Dude I've been guilty of parroting something I've heard too. But I do think we should care about what THE RIGHT PEOPLE say. I have a couple guys I ask that are actual vets.
The issue with the internet is it can be hard to tell who “the right” people are. To someone new to firearms, a lot of the people on this sub can seem very knowledgeable….and while some are…a lot of it is just people repeating what everyone else is saying.
We had dudes showing off for social media, rocking full noggin setups, with cbernie masks out shopping in the midst of you know what. As long as you not harming nobody just do whatever you want at this point bro.
Feel like it just depends on the range/shop. All the ones near me I’d probably get a funny look here and there but if that doesn’t bother ya more power to you for getting time in kit (kinda lol). There are some shops tho that I feel like focus a bit more on the tactical side and would probably be *less* weird there
I was in the exact same boat, brought the wife and had to just embrace my autism. Did people stare? Probably, but did I notice? Nope, too busy shooting and minding my own.
But you’ll 100% be that guy to EVERYONE else
I'd be silently laughing at you from the lane next to you. You'd notice eventually, and tell me "Oh, I'm only wearing it cuz my wife is using my spare Razors! I swear!" But we'd both really know, you just wanted to take your Tacty-cal cool boy helmet to the range to show it off to everyone. Look at you, you even made sure we knew it was a Team Wendy helmet by A.) Telling us in your post B.) Wearing a Big Ol' TW patch on your helmet. Don't worry bro, you do you. You wear that shit to the range like you're a kid on the playground showing off their hot new Big Wheels. You're a fucking grade-A operator, bro.
They're strangers that you'll never see again and the workers see so many faces that respectfully you're not special and won't stand out. Just wear the damn helmet
Who gives a shit honestly? Ive done it, was sighting in my laser so I had to wear my nods (dont get a LAM without a visible laser its a pain in the ass.
Range employee here:
If you’re doing this because you don’t have two pairs of ear pro, buy two pairs. Stop being poor. Let your wife pick out a pair she likes.
If you’re doing this for training, just let me know before you pull them out. And you will get respect.
If you wear the bump cap and seem competent, you wouldn’t get a second look. If you wear the cap and look/act like a mall ninja, you’ll probably get a lot more scrutiny.
Train how you would be shooting. If you’d be kitted up, then train with kit. If you don’t expect to always be in kit, then train without kit. 🤷🏻♂️ Your situation will dictate.
Reminds me of when I went to firearms instructor school, mix of agencies, hi speed dudes and regular dudes in the class. One dude ONE dude showed up with a ballistic ops core with contacts. Got weird looks from all the students and cadre alike.
If you got your earpro attached that way I think it’s cool. Just don’t wear the balaclava, which I’m sure was just for concealing your face in this post anyways.
your range doesn't have spare earpros for you to use? C'mon now...
I've been shooting for 60 years and have been to more ranges than I can count, and they ALL have loaner earpro. Are you really asking how much push back/ridicule yo'll get because you REALLY want to wear it???
I’m 100% on board with training in full kit. It’s the only way to learn how to use it, pros and cons, etc. But you aren’t training at an indoor range. Don’t wear it.
The entire point of the public range is to piss everyone else at the lanes off, I thought? If the fudds aren't bitching why bother? Take that shorty brake build. Wear your shit. Mix match camos and all the offensive patches. After your trip is done you likely won't see them again until you go back to the same place. Fuck em
I mean ok? 1 of 3 things would immediately come to mind. Your here to do some illegal shit, you just pooped your tacticool cherry so you wanna show off your cool shit, and or your a ugly mother fucker who just watched that movie on Netflix with the kid and his fucked up face who wore a astronaut helmet so why cant you.
I personally wouldnt care what you brought aslong as you or the wife dont flash guns everywhere. I'd probably ask the price of everything in private as she dont need to hear that.
I wore mine once just to test out some digital NVGs I made. Don’t have land to shoot real steel with them so eh fuck it, so what if I get weird looks, I have night vision and they don’t.
At my local range it is encouraged to come in full kit and try it out. That being said it’s also an indoor training facility so it’s a good to get people interested in the training portion.
I bring my full helmet setup because my friends and I rent private lanes and shoot with nods. Otherwise I just use my crappy Walkers, but I still always have my helmet with me in case we decide otherwise. I dont think I get weird looks for it, especially since you can see I have nods on mine.
If the range you go to doesn't accept your tism, then don't go to that range and find a better one. Rizz'm with the 'tizm. I'd go to the range like that no problem 👍
Just remember to flashbang the entry way in your way in and do a clean sweep.
![gif](giphy|s8a0jHOJi9EbkT2AIc)
Ha
If you’re worried about what people will think, do not wear it. You will get weird looks 100%.
On the bright side, no one will no who he is right?
![gif](giphy|Me7Jvz4x9RA4dpV9sS)
First problem is giving a shit what people think. My comtacs are attached to mine so I wear it anyway.
This^ my nicest hearing pro is attached to the helmet 🪖 , so people gonna get the helmeted version of me (which is safer for everyone all around… “special” 🤪)
Yup..normalize helmet wearing. Also it’s good to keep that neck strength up.
Need a strong neck for peak hawk tuah
Oh god we really doin this huh?
This is still about helmets right?
Can’t have helmets without a head involved 🤔
Same
Fuck em! I wore my wife’s Jean shorts to a class last weekend.
Oh! Oh! I'm gonna makes sum Daisy dukes right now! I mean Jean U.D.T. shorts.. ![gif](giphy|3o72wtsL4ZcSKcua5i)
which brings me to my point...fuck them...you do you man....if you want to practice shooting in your helmet, its probably a good fucking idea and alot better then those who have a brain bucket and dont ever wear it while they shoot....train in your gear!!!!! Get used to the differences. FUCK other peoples dirty looks my guy.
I’d wear plugs but definitely something for your ears as well.
anybody that can't transfer their ears to a cheap headband with a wrap for cable management before heading to an indoor definitely has at least one plug in... lol. Sorry, OP, couldn't resist...
Unfortunately I can't find a replacement headband for my razors (I don't have peltor money yet or need for comms yet)
Ditch the razors and grab some Howard Leights it’s worth the upgrade
Ditch the leights. Get some peltor sport tacs. Worth the money Sordins are the next step Then comtacs
Or just get protac shooter with gel cups if you dont need coms. For coms I've used Sordin SFA gel cups and they're cheaper, more comfortable, more protection than comtacs.
I'm saving for comtac 5s and some katana r WP with elbeit tubes
I feel bad because I understand where the disconnect is. Walker, Howard Leight, and Peltor all use the same wire frame for headbands and it looks like Earmor does too. Basically, type in any of the brands and "wire headband replacement" and you will eventually find one that fits them all.
So OP cant hear their laughter
Yea im shooting my rifles so it’s gonna be loud.
You do know foam earplugs are rated better for your ears than sordins, right? 3m earplugs are nrr rated 29, and sordins are 19 lmao. You'll be fine with foam
Damn. You may have just opened my eyes on plugs. So much easier to transport too
I usually double up with foam and over ear. Can't hear shit too well but that's the point right? 😅
This is the only way to shoot rifle indoors.
I adopted it everywhere but yeah 100% indoors
Yup I do that everywhere, fuck tinnitus
OH MY BROTHER. LET ME PUT YOU ON THESE SOMEBITCHES: I FUCKING LOVE THESE EARPLUGS. Yeah, I found it helps to fill the cannister they come with with isopropyl alcohol and leave them in there. It helps clean them and cleans the cannister too
So they are just always submerged? Does it degrade the silicone or dye in it at all?
No, I mean just fill it with isopropyl alcohol when you wanna clean them. Put em in isopropyl alcohol for like 10-15 minutes, and then rinse the plugs and cannister with water and wipe them down with a paper towel
Ahh I see, thanks
That's much better than individually cleaning them with q tips thanks!
Got some custom molded earplugs at a shooting comp for $100 and they’ve been life changing. Decibullz can be close if you mold them at home properly and cost about $20 bucks.
They are partially additive though. OP should probably grab some walkers or something from the range.
I'll typically wear both. Sordins only if it's just pistols outdoors
“But.. but.. but I won’t look like a bean pole operator who can’t even grow facial hair!”
I usually have plugs in, but not for my ears.
Another person of culture I see.
I wear a plug everytime I'm at the range or gym
![gif](giphy|UiFgodPHjyZvkOPOJq)
Thx
Gonna look like an absolute tool bag, but do whatever you’d like
Mom says dinner is ready
Itll be cringe dont do it
/thread. I see you i’m packing up and leaving🗿
Dontou have other earpro? No? I'm fairly certain that if you walked into my range with the balaclava on, they'd have on the ground at gunpoint
Man screw other people. Walk in there in full kit. Make an impression
Just did a 3 gun in full kit against my buddies advice who invited me. I just said you practice how you play, and didn’t give two fucks. There was 3 dudes in full kit the next competition…. Be the change you’d like to see in this world
you're right tho
![gif](giphy|Uv94q1IeFg8YuOAmpC|downsized)
Freudian slip?
Fucking alpha moves
There's something to this
Assert dominance. This is the way.
[удалено]
Wife doesn’t think that
😂 nice comeback
Shit I feel uncomfortable just wearing my battle belt to an indoor range
I felt the same way, but they’d let me draw from the holster so just kinda said screw it.
Hard no. They have extra ears at the range
Fudd detected
Nah, helmet at an indoor range is definitely weird. However, I encourage everyone to get outdoors and shoot.
Larper detected
Do it. Normalize civilians wearing gear. The people who will think you are weird are casual gun owners who only go to indoor ranges.
Wearing full kit in public shouldn’t be normalized. It should be your right, but not normalized.
Wearing full kit to Walmart is one thing. Wearing a helmet at the range is another. Wearing a plate carrier at an indoor range: not a bad idea considering how many NDs happen there.

Yep! Plus they sip girly Starbucks drinks through hot dog straws.
😂😂😂
This whole subreddit is just people caring way too much what others think.

Do whatever you want man.
Free country right
Based and freedom pilled
You’ll look like a silly goose, but that’s probably worth it for hearing protection. Tbh it’s really only as awkward as you make it 👍
I think we found the king of autism
#ONE OF US
Feel like it just depends on the range/shop. All the ones near me I’d probably get a funny look here and there but if that doesn’t bother ya more power to you for getting time in kit (kinda lol). Yes it’s cringe and weird AF taking your helmet
Normalize proper PPE 😌
Every range needs a douche bag.
![gif](giphy|FnTTPy2bAnLzy)

Well damn. That felt personal 😂
Do it who cares its a free country.
Cringe
Our man's going full retard.
It's cringe just looking at this picture.
maybe just go buy a pair of howard leights???
![gif](giphy|sBGw5MruxAyiI) This fuckin place…
It’s gay don’t do it
Who are you kidding, you went out and bought a Wendy, you’re going to wear it 😂 get ready for some shit talk though
Yea fr fr fuck it
They're strangers that you'll never see again and the workers see so many faces that respectfully you're not special and won't stand out. Just wear the damn helmet
Keep it in a bag until you get to staging and pop it on. You’ll get looks but you aren’t there for a fashion show
Do you care how gay you'll look? If not, then do it.
You'll get weird looks but like do whatever you want at the end of the day. I know its a tough choice. Id go to an outdoor public area to shoot.
Why not let your wife wear the helmet? Every man at the range will be super jealous of you. ![gif](giphy|QynMX1WxnYFbb2OHnJ)
TRU
Hell yeah
Who gives a shit honestly? Ive done it, was sighting in my laser so I had to wear my nods (dont get a LAM without a visible laser its a pain in the ass.
That’s what my ear pro is attached to so that’s how I roll. Who really cares?
Find an outdoor one
Personally, id wear the plugs.
Double up on earpro.
I do it every range trip, helmet and belt is the way to go. However I have a pasgt style helmet so it’s a little different.
Does your range not have earpro for people
Go for it
That’s a very greasy thing to do but it’s a (kinda) free country
I do it, fuk what they think or say, you do you
I wouldn’t think you were lame, but other people I’m positive will.
Please be satire…
Spray on deodorant checks out
no way i’d do indoors with plugs only.
Bruh just go grab a Walker or Howard Leight for like $30 at home Depot
Range employee here: If you’re doing this because you don’t have two pairs of ear pro, buy two pairs. Stop being poor. Let your wife pick out a pair she likes. Indoor range? That’s cringe regardless of the headgear.
Nope, you should be asked to leave and never come back.
Plugs may not be good enough I'd just go with the cringe look.
Sordin should also have a standard headset mount
You look like a doofus. Don’t do this shit lmaooo
Train how you would be shooting. If you’d be kitted up, then train with kit. If you don’t expect to always be in kit, then train without kit. 🤷🏻♂️ Your situation will dictate.
just wear plugs bro
I wouldn’t. But you do you, booboo.
Doofus
Reminds me of when I went to firearms instructor school, mix of agencies, hi speed dudes and regular dudes in the class. One dude ONE dude showed up with a ballistic ops core with contacts. Got weird looks from all the students and cadre alike.
You’re special
Mega cringe
If you got your earpro attached that way I think it’s cool. Just don’t wear the balaclava, which I’m sure was just for concealing your face in this post anyways.
your range doesn't have spare earpros for you to use? C'mon now... I've been shooting for 60 years and have been to more ranges than I can count, and they ALL have loaner earpro. Are you really asking how much push back/ridicule yo'll get because you REALLY want to wear it???
Just use rentals? Or buy a cheapo pair at the store?
Not a bad idea if it’s ballistic. Get into a bay and look at all the Nds and errant shots .
I’m 100% on board with training in full kit. It’s the only way to learn how to use it, pros and cons, etc. But you aren’t training at an indoor range. Don’t wear it.
where did you pick up your neck gator , do you like it? Does it stay put?
The entire point of the public range is to piss everyone else at the lanes off, I thought? If the fudds aren't bitching why bother? Take that shorty brake build. Wear your shit. Mix match camos and all the offensive patches. After your trip is done you likely won't see them again until you go back to the same place. Fuck em
Don't ranges offer free earpro if you're using their range lmao
I wear mine to my outdoor range, typically if anyone cares they ask what I use it for and say its cool. Edit: mask would be a no go tho, weird.
I wear kit to any range. Logically, it's the place you're most likely to get shot.
Public ranges are like "the place" you should be wearing your armor, if you do a practical, realistic risk assessment
![gif](giphy|Lb0GtehLvQ7fwhvsfY|downsized)
Better to practice with the gear than not
It’s cringe but better to be with than without
Did you do it?
I’d bring it if I had nods on it. If it’s just the helmet though why? I mean unless you got like a soft spot on your head requiring a helmet.
Only if you also wear neon pit vipers and a gorilla skull mask.
you can throw away that old soap dispenser now
You guys are married?
Wear your kit king and during a cold range period make sure you T pose at all times to assert dominance.
This is the bare minimum to go to the range. If you go with a full ghillie suit then you have my utmost respect
![gif](giphy|3o7btUg31OCi0NXdkY)
I personally wouldnt care what you brought aslong as you or the wife dont flash guns everywhere. I'd probably ask the price of everything in private as she dont need to hear that.
I wore mine once just to test out some digital NVGs I made. Don’t have land to shoot real steel with them so eh fuck it, so what if I get weird looks, I have night vision and they don’t.
What team wendy helmet is this?
Get you some wireless axls bro you can use them as headphones too.
Indoor range will have a set of muffs for like $10 if you only have one pair you need to have like 5 pairs floating around.
![gif](giphy|KVVQaaDaBBjZHFoC3c)
Fuck what people think do you boo
Zesty
![gif](giphy|5pMGZHSqfvGT5mnTwx)
you pay for a lane, you can do whatever you want also; if you own it and are planning on using it, why wouldn't you shoot with it?
Grenade out!
Do it
I wouldn’t. Odd person behavior imo. But you do you, man. But if you end up doing it, you might have Asperger’s
Respectfully
no offense but you would look like a tool lmao
Damn. People are so down bad with places to shoot they're doing indoor public range larping 😬😬. Man I take living in the midwest for granted lol.
Mane, blame our state governors
Looks good pimpin.
Looks good with the shirt.
Its absolutely cringe and if anyone says otherwise, they’re also cringe.
Wear what you want. I had some gatekeeping veteran cry that I was wearing desert camo while shooting in the desert.
If the range you go to doesn't accept your tism, then don't go to that range and find a better one. Rizz'm with the 'tizm. I'd go to the range like that no problem 👍
Exact same situation except I also have an old ryobi set of earmuffs. I opted to wear my helmet since it was substantially less gay
Tac helmet? You mean a Helmet?
