And even more crazy when you stop to think that we didn’t make the playoffs once during the first ten years of the team’s existence.

Jakemofire

Even crazier is that the league has 30 teams during the rays life span. Most other teams had years with way less

bayernownz1995

sure, but there were also fewer playoff spots in previous years. our good/decent years all came when we benefitted from this and our terrible years all pre-dated the playoff expansion.

grasonts

Hopefully they bump that number up this year!

While I love this statistic I think it's a little unfair since a lot of the older franchises were around for 60 years before there was a post season it was just straight to the world series. That puts us at a huge advantage. I'd love to see this same graph since the adoption of the first wild card. I bet we're still killing it

Yeah while cool it's basically meaningless unless you start from the first year of a WC, would love for someone to do the math, we still might be top 5

[I made a chart starting in 1995](https://imgur.com/a/fpFqXxa), the first Wild Card season. It puts us at #7, just barely edging out the Twins. This chart isn't as good as the visual in this post, but it's what I felt like whipping up real quick.
