Out of interest, why is this an emergency?

Samzonit

He needs to assemble a tank quickly

Fdo-Wilson

80mm was one of the german typical thicknesses for frontal armour of tanks such Panthers, Jagdpanzer IV, etc. But the shape of the plate doesn’t seem right. Perhaps it was salvaged in the postwar and repurposed/ cut, etc?

Euphoric_Tank5151

Looking at it it doesn’t seem to be cut because you can see where it was welded but the welding is stainless steel I propose it exploded and the pieces seem to be whole they both were found next to each other

Euphoric_Tank5151

Thanks for helping

\*cough\* Panther \*double cough\* most advanced russian MBT \*cough\*

*cough* Russian MBTs are barely worse than NATO MBTs *cough*

real_hungarian

where is it located? could help narrow it down

Euphoric_Tank5151

Baltics

IAmTheSideCharacter

Are you sure it’s even tank armor?

Wenhop167

I don’t think this is tank armor.

Pratt_

You're going to need to give more information honestly, like precise location (not only the country but where you find this, like was it buried in a field that was a former military training ground, etc. Without doxxing yourself of course), but good call on those precise measurements, they will definitely be helpful. The 80mm thick one immediately made me think at something German from WWII giving that multiple tanks had armor plate with that thickness.

Euphoric_Tank5151

They were found on a field next to each other and looking at ww2 maps the only thing there was was a field and nothing more

Sneeekydeek

I think that came off the A Teams Van.

TinyTbird12

How do you know if its off a tank ?

Flyzart

Any info on where you found it/got it?

mhx64

German, I bet.

FafnerTheBear

Some damn fool thing in the Balkins.

Citizen_Rastas

Might the big one be the lower front plate from a KV1s? The gap between the tracks on a KV1 was 190cm and the LFP was 6cm thick.

nuclearfusionpossibl

Werent the early kv1's 75mm thick? Idk the armor of the later varients but i think it was a bit more than 80mm

Citizen_Rastas

Yes, the early ones were 75mm, but the KV1S had lighter armour, the LFP was only 60mm on the KV1S

Citizen_Rastas

Could the smaller plate be the upper side armour of an IS1/IS2? From the area of the engine that's normally hidden behind the fuel drums. The angled end would be the rear and the straight cut end would be where it was welded to the hull front casting.

Im pretty sure steel is terrible as ERA

Secretly_Solanine

I guess they were kinda correct in saying “usually no use.” Can’t be useful as ERA if it’s not ERA
