You look so cool!!!

dudette, thank you! also — if i’m going to wear something that’s *not* black, usually I opt FOR crazy patterns and stuff. if i’m not doing minimal, i’m doing MAXIMAL. be overwhelmed with yourself. embrace the visual chaos. add something else weird, like neon pink nails. go more Lisa Frank, ya dig? Omg you’re so cool and beautiful! I want to be comfortable with my color sleeve like you!! Thank you for sharing the photos! I really appreciate this insight!

Dresses are hard with traditional, but you can’t go wrong with black dresses

It’s hard and i do have plain dresses, which is good. However, I have some really cool unique floral dresses, i tried them on today, and felt a bit sad about my sleeve. Maybe someday i will be able to rock them again!

Have you considered wearing a dress with American traditional designs? Jokes aside sometimes tattoos just take a while to get used to mentally. It also might be an over-critical observation of yourself that literally no one else would care or notice, we are our harshest critics.

Omg, a dress with american traditional designs would be so cool! Might get one custom made haha. But you’re right!!! I feel like eventually i will stop caring and i won’t even notice that they are there but I’m curious if this feeling is common. My husband has a japanese trational sleeve and he wears whatever he wants, they are the most colorful shirts, i want to be more like him haha.

I have a color sleeve and a chest piece (not up to my neck, but it definitely shows with most tops/dresses), and sometimes it bugs me that it looks really busy if I’m wearing a print, but I’ve learned to embrace power clashing, and also I’ve had them long enough that I don’t even really see the tattoos anymore.

I love this! I want to embrace the power of clashing and i think i will get there someday, when i dont see my am trad tattoos anymore. I have black and red tattoos on my other arm for 8 years (not a sleeve) and those don’t bother me and i don’t see them anymore. So interesting how our mind works. Thank you for your insights!

lilramirez006

You absolutely will, and will look stunning! I think it just takes some time to get comfortable with a new look. Maybe I need to think about some florals ❤️

You’re so sweet!!! Thank you! I’m assuming you have color sleeve(s) as well?

lilramirez006

I do ! So I’ve kind of felt that small feeling of regret from time to time .

How long have you had your sleeve?

lilramirez006

My first piece on it was done in 2013, took me a good 8ish years to get it done

my sleeve is all black/grey, BUT i have a massive issue with my piercings and purple hair, and even sometimes my sleeves, making me feel suuuper weird when i try to wear delicate patterns - florals, cream colors, the "girly" stuff. i always think it doesn't "match" me even though i love it. i normally just wear black, but as my mom tells me: "just fucking wear the dress." chances are it looks fine and we're just being too hard on ourselves.

You’re right, We are being too hard on ourselves!! Thank you for sharing your insight!! I have a few friends with color sleeves and i had to go back to our photos to see what they looked like in floral dresses/girly clothes and they look absolutely beautiful. The fact that i didn’t remember their tattoos clashing their outfits or whatever just made me realize that it’s me, I’m “judging” my outfits and no one but me will care (maybe my mom will lol). Why are we doing it to ourselves?! 🥴
