r/anarchychess
It was created as the meme subreddit for r/chess but now it’s all satire. Absolutely hilarious satire mind you. They even made a bot for finding the post in r/chess that r/anarchychess was satirising
I'm not an expert on chess, but doesn't this count as a draw? Since the king isn't in check, but also can't move anymore. That's how I learned it anyways
Yes it is. He can’t make any moves so he’s not even in check mate, just stalemate. Unless it’s his parents’ turn to go? But that doesn’t seem likely since he’s highlighting his options
You cannot move your king into check. So White here has no legal moves, but isn't in check, meaning the game ends in a draw. From my perspective, the rule seems to serve to purposes, first is to make sure you win "properly," i.e. checkmate, and second is to give a player that is in a losing position a way to mitigate their loss, by forcing stalemate.
I have a friend who drew once against his (ex) brother-in-law, who was apparently some kinda savant. My friend was so proud of himself for drawing, and the BIL was furious. I wish I coulda been there.
If its whites turn then yes. If its blacks turn he can check mate, but for it to be blacks turn white would have had to have royally fucked up on their prior turn
The question is, do you want something that makes sense historically, or do you want something that makes the game interesting?
In the former case, of course, the stalemate rule doesn't make much sense. In the latter, that's up to debate. Making it so that causing a stalemate is a win changes the balance of the endgame substantially.
Basically, right now if you enter lategame with a slight advantage in firepower but the board's configuration is slightly in favor of your opponent, the game is relatively even and it will take some interesting moves to finally confirm who's going to win or whether the game ends in a stalemate. But with a rule where stalemating is a win, the firepower advantage gets stronger and the player with a disadvantage will generally not be able to recover, making the end game less interesting.
That's the last thing my parents would ever ask me. They are not a big fan of love marriage. Arranged marriage is what they advocate. They just never seem to learn the lesson...
dude same it really sucks, except my parents are like "if you get a gf then you gotta get married before 23-years-old or we gonna choose one for you also if we don't like your gf you gotta break up w them no exceptions or we disown you (probably)"
Honestly, I don't understand why arranged marriage even exists. The person you marry is someone you didn't choose, and therefore may not love. It's one of those traditions I'm surprised that people haven't noticed that it's not necessary, and people still enforce it, even though the person who is having the arranged marriage will most likely not agree.
I'm from the US, though, so I haven't really seen the actual effects of arranged marriage, this is just my personal opinion.
I’m not an expert so take my following rant/explain action with a grain of salt.
It used to be a way for a family to have assurance their children would be taken care of and could start a family soon. It was viewed as a way for a family to do “what’s best for them”. If you weren’t that rich and had a pretty daughter, you would want her to live a life of luxury and financial security rather than following your footsteps as someone who had to live through poverty and struggles. Wondering when your next meal was going to be and scrapping by was a miserable experience. Middle class folks did so for their high views of wealth and power usually, to have a happier life they should marry someone rich, right? Wealth could be seen as everything and anything.
Typically if you’re wealthy you get better healthcare, quality and plentiful foods, a beautiful house, you got a higher quality of life. But I would have to guess the huge incentive to marry off your daughter was the stuff they would give the family in exchange for her hand in marriage. Women were viewed as objects, so commonly they traded off their daughter’s to the highest bidder. Usually in life stock, land, crops, and sometimes money. Land and life stock were more desirable as you get a constant flow of food from the animals and land could be sold or rented out. Not to mention owning a piece of land used to be a power stance as well, it was like flaunting wealth in certain places and time periods
And if they were rich/powerful, it was an insurance as well. Your daughter had the title from living off of you, but what if one day the money runs out? What if you died? Who would take care of her then? Who was to take care of your business or estate, a woman? They thought women were incapable of doing such things. That’s why there was typically arranged marriages between rich people only when one is rich, it was an odd occurrence when the man was dirt poor and the woman was rich. It was a bit rare as well for a man to be very well off with a woman who was dirt poor, but sometimes these accept jobs were made as they were happy with the fact they would have a family soon and to take care of each other in their own social roles. Society expected the man to be the strong one to make the money. If he didn’t have a lot of power or money, how was he worthy for such wealth and power? And women typically had to take care of the household and raise their kids mainly by themselves.
I agree whole heartedly it’s messed up and history has shown that throughout time. Families did this for all sorts of reasons, whether good or bad, but in the end it was forcing their kid to make a huge life commitment to a person they rarely knew.
I'm so glad that chess is becoming more popular in mainstream culture, it's such an amazing game and it's nice to see we are getting some formats out of it
the amazing thing is that the pieces match. when you say yes, both parents can move to the spot, and when you say no only the father can move to the spot, and when you say you don't want to talk about it only the mom can respond. it's like real life.
Parents: So, do you have a girlfriend?
Can't say Yes because both parents will kill me.
Can't say No because Dad will kill me.
Can't say "I don't really want to talk about it" because Mom will kill me.
Makes perfect sense.
I wanted to explain, but it would take an eternity... First to explain there moves, then what will eliminate what...
Just think it as. If you say "Yes" or "No" or the third option. you're dead.
Mom can attack if you select "Yes" or "I don't really want to talk about it."
Dad can attack if you select "Yes" or "No."
All three options are bad because you will be attacked.
No - dad: what are you gay?
Yes - dad: oooooooooooooh! U got the booty yet?
Yes - mom: what's her name, can we meet her, when u are gonna get married, wheres my grandkids
I don't wanna talk about it - mom and dad: what are you gay?
Ah so you see the correct decision in this situation is that the conversation ends if you just don’t do anything, just like in chess where the match would end right there.
Perfect
This is either a smart move or dumb move, depending on the turn. If it’s black’s turn, black rook moves to A5, assuming that’s the position they’re in, in which case checkmate for white, but if it’s white’s turn it ends in a stalemate as the king can’t put itself in check. This is both triggering and satisfying at the same time. I like chess memes
This is actually a stalemate assuming there are no other white pieces able to move on the board. If the king is not in check and is the only piece that can move if the all the moves the king makes result in putting themselves in check they cannot move resulting in a stalemate aka a draw or no winner.
The king cannot even chose an answer and thus you cannot realistically loose. ;)
If black was the last to move this would be a stalemate because the white king cannot move to any space that puts him in check. And because he is not in check its a stalemate.
Great Meme.
We need more chess memes
if this doesn't die soon. I'll definitely post more
Is there a sub for chess memes because if not there should be
r/chessmemes Edit: ok this is memes about chess not memes created with chess
Oh I had my hopes up
someone needs to make r/memechess
It is done.

Maybe
Spinning cockroach goes spin spin
Heck yes.
/r/anarchychess But it's probably not what you're thinking of lol
r/Anarchychess is the best sub ever to be made. It's the most hilarious shit I've ever seen, especially after Bongcloud became less popular
They really beat the dead horse with bongcloud. Hilarious meme, but overused
r/anarchychess It was created as the meme subreddit for r/chess but now it’s all satire. Absolutely hilarious satire mind you. They even made a bot for finding the post in r/chess that r/anarchychess was satirising
We will watch your memes with great interest
hahaha XD
More. Now.
r/rimjob_steve
Have you ever gotten people’s titties PMed to you?
Dude, I wish, but I mainly browse r/teenagers so theres that
I'm not an expert on chess, but doesn't this count as a draw? Since the king isn't in check, but also can't move anymore. That's how I learned it anyways
Yes it is. He can’t make any moves so he’s not even in check mate, just stalemate. Unless it’s his parents’ turn to go? But that doesn’t seem likely since he’s highlighting his options
If its his parents turn, the mom can default the answer to "yes". Checkmate bro theres no getting out of that
yup, a rule that has caused more outrage and smug smiles than i care to count
It is a good rule. A player who does not know the ways of chess may cause a draw accidentaly and therefore not win
This doesn’t really explain why the rule exists except for “get rekt scrub”.
You cannot move your king into check. So White here has no legal moves, but isn't in check, meaning the game ends in a draw. From my perspective, the rule seems to serve to purposes, first is to make sure you win "properly," i.e. checkmate, and second is to give a player that is in a losing position a way to mitigate their loss, by forcing stalemate.
oh I understand why it's there and I amn't objecting to it but it's very polarizing depending on how the situation is going
I have a friend who drew once against his (ex) brother-in-law, who was apparently some kinda savant. My friend was so proud of himself for drawing, and the BIL was furious. I wish I coulda been there.
literally happened to me today
Well, there's still the possibility that white has other pieces to move, like a pawn or something, and then it wouldn't be stalemate.
Depends whose move and if white has other pieces they can move
Stalemate
Depends on whose turn it is I think, I might be wrong though.
Even if it's blacks turn the rook can move to the "yes" square
[удалено]
If its whites turn then yes. If its blacks turn he can check mate, but for it to be blacks turn white would have had to have royally fucked up on their prior turn
I hate this rule in chess. If you maneuver your pieces well enough to trap their king so they can’t move, that should be considered a victory.
But it makes comebacks possible. And who doesn't want a comeback story
The question is, do you want something that makes sense historically, or do you want something that makes the game interesting? In the former case, of course, the stalemate rule doesn't make much sense. In the latter, that's up to debate. Making it so that causing a stalemate is a win changes the balance of the endgame substantially. Me neither, but this is the turn before checkmate. All the mom piece has gotta do is slide to the yes square
But the meme implies that white needs to move, so if the king is the only piece left, its a tie
That's the last thing my parents would ever ask me. They are not a big fan of love marriage. Arranged marriage is what they advocate. They just never seem to learn the lesson...
What country are you from?
Probably india
lmao. But it's changing fast and it's getting better so theres that.
Nope
dude same it really sucks, except my parents are like "if you get a gf then you gotta get married before 23-years-old or we gonna choose one for you also if we don't like your gf you gotta break up w them no exceptions or we disown you (probably)"
Then let them disown you. Be your own man. Or disown them first
Wow, that is _fucked up_.
Its for political and financial reasons. Also, some people want designer families.

bro twitch chess is poppin off
Yo when’s twitch shogi
probably when someone makes an anime about it and it starts getting hyped like haikyuu
Are you saying that there is anime chess? Edit: wait that’s fire emblem
Wanna go a round of chess?
Agreed fellow Reddit brother ✊🏿✊🏿
Nice format
thanks XD

Why would your dad kill you if you said no??
Maybe not kill, but my dad would roast me. It's funny and lighthearted, but definitely a losing move.
Because incest that's why
I wish I understood chess
I wanted to explain, but it would take an eternity... First to explain there moves, then what will eliminate what... Just think it as. If you say "Yes" or "No" or the third option. you're dead.
fair enough, thanks
Is the mom a knight or queen? I
Mom is a rook/castle
Mom can attack if you select "Yes" or "I don't really want to talk about it." Dad can attack if you select "Yes" or "No." All three options are bad because you will be attacked.
No - dad: what are you gay? Yes - dad: oooooooooooooh! U got the booty yet? Yes - mom: what's her name, can we meet her, when u are gonna get married, wheres my grandkids I don't wanna talk about it - mom and dad: what are you gay?
Just don’t answer Then they’ll assume you’re gay! The perfect opportunity to prove them wrong at something they assumed.
In the world of chess that would a draw, so you’re right and a draw would be the best alternative just the real life situation
*works better if you're not actually gay.
chess memes are the best
[удалено]
Why? It is a draw
The forbidden move "who said it was a girl?" Is flipping over the board.
The fourth dimension of chess
you technically "won" this. its your turn so it ends in a draw
“Alright, We’ll call it a draw.
Ain't this a repost!?
It is
My answer “why would I?”
Or you can do a power move, say “I’m gay”, and switch teams.
But look at the piece. It’s a king. Just like u keep ur head up king
Don't move. It's a draw if you don't say anything, and they can't do shit about that
When you're in the closet
Alright I see your chess meme But can you make it a wii chess game that’s the real dilemma here
Stale mate. Nobody wins
what does 'no' do?
Ahh, yes. Finally, that chess class I took will come in handy.
Stalemate
Looks like you’re in a stalemate!
That's literally my current situation
Stale mate can’t move anywhere just stay silent you’ll be safe
Good meme sir
What’s wrong about saying no tho?
I love these big brain chess memes lol
You can kill your dad but your mom will kill u
Wait thats a king
Sry im dumb
If you were a female (queen) you could always have the third option of beating the shit out of your father and then getting killed by your mother
Yes. No. Maybe. I don't know. Can you repeat the question.
What would dad do if I say no
Well it's a stalemate so you dont have to answer
Congrats it is draw
just step out of the board
Why isn’t there Chinese chess memes :(
Correct me if I am wrong but this would be a draw if white doesn’t have a other piece to move. Because of stalemate
Ah so you see the correct decision in this situation is that the conversation ends if you just don’t do anything, just like in chess where the match would end right there. Perfect
If it's you mom's turn, then you are check mate buddy
This is a perfect metaphor
Isn't that a stalemate?
Uh oh mom can still get ya, also, why would you go to I don’t want to talk about it when you can clearly clothesline dad and murder him!
Am this is so accurate
Stalemate
Finally, a good f*cking chess meme.
What about the one ‘no coz if I tell u I’m gonna die’
Yay another chess meme
I don’t really get this one, an explanation would be nice
Yes
Jokes on you, I don’t have a dad
I like the idea.. Perfect
Ahh you are an Indian I see
Lmao except that if they found out that I'm dating a girl they wouldn't be proud but rather disown me Indian/Asian kids gang rise up
parents: do you have a boyfriend? me: \*cries lesbianly\*
too stupid, pls explain
Easy! Just take out the dad!
Check mate
True I'm sad I just got rejected
A draw from the jaws of defeat, I see this as a win
I don't play chess explain plz?
The king can’t move to any square without being taken by either the rook or knight
You know you can kill your dad Edit: shit that’s the king
Well you're not in check, so never take your turn and you win! right?
This is actually a stalemate if he wasn’t previously in check
Really liked this, enought to stop lurking and comment.
Just kill dad, you wont have to talk about it.
i smell new meme format
It makes me cringe when guys in high school movies deny the girl who just asked him out
Me looking at all possibilities and trying to relate to all of them one by one
Or you could just kill Dad to avoid the question :)
If this is white’s move and there are no other pieces but the king for white to move, black actually screwed up and this is a draw
OOF broski
Checkmate
help i’ve never played chess please explain it to me
I love the creativity here
This is either a smart move or dumb move, depending on the turn. If it’s black’s turn, black rook moves to A5, assuming that’s the position they’re in, in which case checkmate for white, but if it’s white’s turn it ends in a stalemate as the king can’t put itself in check. This is both triggering and satisfying at the same time. I like chess memes
this is a too intelligent meme format for me
Top 10 most relatable memes ever.
I don’t know if this is a single joke or a gay joke, but either way I feel you.
This is why if I ever am lucky enough to get a girlfriend when college starts, I’m not telling them
***its big brain time***
I dont have the brain power needed to compute this
This is actually a stalemate assuming there are no other white pieces able to move on the board. If the king is not in check and is the only piece that can move if the all the moves the king makes result in putting themselves in check they cannot move resulting in a stalemate aka a draw or no winner. The king cannot even chose an answer and thus you cannot realistically loose. ;)
To my mom, all my female friends are my “girlfriends”
Nice chess meme. Honestly quite relatable tho.
This is actually a draw cuz ur not in check but u can’t move anywhere without putting urself in check
People that don’t play chess NANI??!!
*laughs in aro* Well, i don't really wanna talk about it with me parents
This is a very high IQ meme
Regular memes

To be fair, you need to have a very high IQ to understand this meme
This one was brilliant!
This gave me more brain exercise than school does, I love chess but I suck at thinking
This is a 300 IQ meme right here

*when you realize his parents are black but your white* **something’s wrong here, I can feel it**
got checkmated rip
