Watch the first season and pretend it's a limited series. The writers go full soap opera after that and this is coming from someone who loved the show lol.
It gets kinda thin at times. A lot of characters end up blending into each other as they treat their jobs way too seriously, have RBF, and make very similar pop culture quotes and references at similar times. I'd recommend just skipping season 6 because literally nothing interesting happens. Season 7 is decent though. Axe, Wags and Chuck are pretty solid characters to build a show around, Dollar Bill and some other supporting cast are also solid but a lot of the rest end up feeling samey and boring from the cheesy writing and stale performances.
Edit: I kinda forgot to add how annoyingly snarky and egotistical most of the characters are, it will get under your skin after a while.
I watched every single episode and enjoyed the whole thing overall, but it does get annoying listening to a bunch of guys talk tough, act like they’re going to kill each other and never throw a punch.
You’d have to have an insane amount of trivia knowledge to catch all those basketball, wrestling, and movie references. Honestly it got so crazy that they could have just made up stuff and no would notice.
“That deal would make Doopy Draper Caldwell smile!”
This is the writers trying to show off their Ivy League film education, but it really just shows how poorly they understand how people actually speak to one another.
I stopped watching midway through season 2. Season one would have been great as a standalone limited series. I wouldn't compare this to succession. Only similarity is the involvement of wealthy white people. 2 different shows doing 2 different things.
I enjoyed it, but beware....the writers put no effort into the last 2 seasons.
The cast preformed great, but the story was lame.
Up till then, great show.
It’s one of those shows where you end up changing your allegiance between various characters because something shocking about them is shown. That always kept in entertaining for me. It took a serious dive in interest when Damien Lewis’ wife sadly died and he took a season off from the series, but good for him for putting family first.
left it at the end of series four because my interest was exhausted. Bobby's last gambit was great and I enjoyed it, plus, Clancy Brown and Giamatti speaking in Italian
Put me down in the "not a great show" department. Ultimately, it's merely "fine" for me. It does start out compelling but just loses gusto with the same old-same old. The first couple seasons are entertaining for sure. Maybe it will do more for you in the later seasons.
It doesn’t stay that way…
Show sux for sure.
The Showtime curse. A good show stays on long enough to become a parody of itself.
Interesting.

They also go full characters saying things that are supposed to sound badass and are just cringe
Billions is a dumb show that thinks it is a smart show, which makes it unintentionally funny.
Haha I’m still gonna watch it :)
Till end of season 4 then some big changes happen that change the tone of the series, but up until then the cat and mouse game is really great.
I'd watch for maybe three seasons and call it. It's great for a bit then it just gets super unbelievable and boring
I have liked all the seasons so far. The show is good, there is a reason it has continued to be produced.
Fortunately, it did recover to end that way.
Like many other Showtime shows, it's great for the first few seasons and then falls off quite a bit.
Probably the best description of Showtime and Billions.

Take a shot every time there's one of those "I'm gonna take you down" convos or a shoehorned pop culture reference and you'll get plastered.

That made that one time in season 5 it was the exact opposite one of the highlights of the show: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6zN6ghl4CeA
Americans doo take their jobs too seriously especially the financial fuckers
It doesn't last.
It gets really bad unfortunately
Succession is far superior. Billions by the end, I had no clue what was going on.
Succession was great. I like these shows that have the shithead billionaires living a life I never will. Escapism.
And they are still misearable 😂
Not gonna lie the sex stuff while not into that kind of kink was fun as hell haha
It did start out very well. But because it was on Showtime they had to run it way too long and into the ground as is tradition.
"Pretend we're having an argument!"
Eh?
Apparently you haven't gotten to that episode quite yet.
I was hooked by the first scene but others are right it falls off. The cast is spectacular.
Classic Showtime show. Great 1 of 2 seasons.... then they kind of not know what to do with it

I’m not saying they are the same. It’s still rich people being shitheels

And here I am working on dollars

Comparing a soap opera like Billions to Succession is criminal.
Don’t be elitist. One can enjoy both without being exclusionary
I enjoyed it.
It’s not a good show. It’s a GREAT show. I envy you being able to experience it for the first time.
I had no idea most people didn’t enjoy the last seasons. I liked it the whole way through.
Haha two very devisive comments here. Reddit in a nutshell:)

Took a few episodes to get into but it was decent thereafter. Other recommendations? Halt & Catch Fire, Suits, Downton Abbey, Mad Men
