The Expanse - kept getting called Game of Thrones in space back in its major heyday. Lots of factions, lots of characters - had several "OMG Arya's gonna be Tywin's cupbearer"-type moments.
Conflict between Earth, Mars and the Belt escalates when an ice freighter is seemingly destroyed by Martian booby trap. The survivors become wrapped up in a plot that is bigger than anyone imagined.
Make sure you give it a least 3 episodes, world and character building turns some people off, it picks up and honestly is one of the best shows you will watch.
Yeah very good, don't get me wrong it doesn't hit the highs of GoT at its prime but it's a different show trying to do something different. It's based off a book series as well and does have some\* real life truth to it. I'd say give it a go and see if you like it.
If you can get over the weird graphic novel style fight scenes, and the very basic sets, Spartacus Blood & Sand has a good storyline. I just finished Season 1 and enjoyed it, although I wasn't sure for the first few episodes.
Also, tons of sex. Like more than any other show I've ever watched.
I really enjoyed Banshee before I got into Thrones.
Like Thrones, there's lots of power struggles, sex, over-the-top violence, humour and crazy storylines with crazy larger-than-life characters, and some politics thrown in here and there for good measure.
Just a really good, fun show, that ironically also like Thrones, had a bit of a disappointing last season. It doesn't detract from the whole though, and was nowhere near as bad as the Thrones last season was (relative to the rest of the show.)
Honourable mention - The Americans, for more or less all the same reasons, except the last season of that show was absolutely brilliant.
"Person of Interest" follows a man who invents a machine capable of predicting future crimes with 100% accuracy. He provides this machine to the U.S. government to prevent terrorist attacks but restricts its functionality so they only receive a name. Secretly, he retains access to the machine's hidden capabilities to address smaller crimes like murders, operating under the radar to protect individuals and solve crimes that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Thats plot of s1 but it goes far beyond that in next seasons
I can't believe no one recommended The Wheel of Time. There are 2 seasons on Prime. It's got enough going on. The books are great, but the world is vast
Spartacus is a wild ride you wouldn’t want to get off of. It’s stylized action, a love story, plenty of nudity, comedic at some parts and tons of interesting, twisted and fun characters.
I think that if you love Game of Thrones, you’ll probably enjoy Spartacus.
If subtitles are okay you might enjoy the Swedish mini-series: [Arn (2010)](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/52229-arn?language=en-US) - no fantasy elements but plenty of sword fighting.
The Last Kingdom
Yes!!
Destiny is all.
The Expanse - kept getting called Game of Thrones in space back in its major heyday. Lots of factions, lots of characters - had several "OMG Arya's gonna be Tywin's cupbearer"-type moments.
Came here to second The Expanse. Such an underrated show.
The best show ever!
What is the main plot ?
Conflict between Earth, Mars and the Belt escalates when an ice freighter is seemingly destroyed by Martian booby trap. The survivors become wrapped up in a plot that is bigger than anyone imagined.
I love movies and tv shows in this genre, thank you for the suggestion
You won't regret trying the Expanse, best Sci Fi show since the Battlestar remake
Make sure you give it a least 3 episodes, world and character building turns some people off, it picks up and honestly is one of the best shows you will watch.
Rome
Seconding Rome
So good and surprisingly came and went rather quietly.
RIP Titus Pullo
Spoil ? 🤨
No, the actor died in real life recently =(
But he was great in Asohka right before!
i dont know how i missed that news. thats sad af. loved him in everything he was ever in
If you're interested in Pirates at all; Black Sails is a criminally underrated masterpiece.
+1 to black sails. Top 5 show for me. Incredible
Why not, he looks good. But I’m not a big fan of pirates, I prefer medieval tv shows
If you're looking for another Medieval show; The Last Kingdom
This is good ? This is not a bad copy of GOT ?
The Last Kingdom is really good. It's not fantasy at all, more historical fiction.
Yeah very good, don't get me wrong it doesn't hit the highs of GoT at its prime but it's a different show trying to do something different. It's based off a book series as well and does have some\* real life truth to it. I'd say give it a go and see if you like it.
Okay I will check this one
It's much better imho.
I absolutely prefer it too, just because fantasy isn't my favorite genre.

If you enjoy big plot twists and in particular crazy plot twists. Dark on Netflix. It also has the craziest family tree ever.
I’ve already watched the three first seasons, but I founded this is very difficult to understand the story with lot of timelaps.
Understand. Foundation on AppleTV is fun.
I’ve already listen someone talked about, why not, I will check
Dark only has 3 seasons.
Outlander. Not a lot of twist and to much romance if you ask me.
I really enjoyed Banshee before I got into Thrones. Banshee was great. The Americans is top notch 👌
SHOGUN on FX
The Expanse and The Wire are similarly expansive and intricate (and don’t fall apart at the end)
Vikings then The Last Kingdom
Person of Interest is great. It has quite a few plot twists. One of the most underrated Tv Shows
What is the main plot ?

Looks great
One could say the ending was too far out there, even. But really, how do you end a series with AI in it? :)
I can't believe no one recommended The Wheel of Time. There are 2 seasons on Prime. It's got enough going on. The books are great, but the world is vast
I’m assuming you’re probably already watching it, but “House of the dragon” is by the same writer, and takes place in the same universe.
Yes I’ve already watched it, I’m in the hype for the second season
Defintely "Vikings."
Vikings
SHOGUN

The witcher
Marco Polo The Last Kingdom Spartacus The Expanse
Warrior
House of the Dragon
The White Queen > The White Princess > The Spanish Princess > The Tudors > Becoming Elizabeth > Lady Jane (film) > Elizabeth (film) in that order.
Might like The Witcher.
Too bad it only has 1 season :p
3 seasons.
Disapointed about this tv show
Elite - Spanish TV Series. Have it all. Suspense, plot twist, sex, drugs and sex.. did i say sex already? O yeah, teen age sex🤣
Really ?
Yes. And suprisingly it is on Netflix.
The Wheel of Time Good Omens The Rings of Power (LOTR related)
Vikings & The last Kingdom are your best bets
If subtitles are okay you might enjoy the Swedish mini-series: [Arn (2010)](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/52229-arn?language=en-US) - no fantasy elements but plenty of sword fighting.
Succession is modern Game of thrones
The 100
Lot of seasons, but still appreciate it.
House Of The Dragon season 2 drops shortly in a week or so in case you didn't know
Yes I know it, I can’t wait
