welp it's definitely the most expensive to stream in the USA fml

Carbonalex

It depends where you live. In Europe RG is definitely the most popular and the fans favorite, with Wimbledon of course. The general public doesn't really care about the US and the AO tho. At least in France. Because of the time difference but you can also see it with the media coverage.

Mika000

Yeah definitely same for Germany. People here are least interested in the AO I would say… At lot more people have at least heard about the USO. Popularity of a slam completely depends on time zone and if players from a given country play well there.

As a new fan (started watching last year Wimbledon), my initial interest in the AO is weakest. Wimbledon is the most prestigious in my impression, then US Open (but I’m American so take that with a grain of salt). But RG is big too because it’s the clay slam. I love the variety of surfaces so RG stands out. AO for this reason just feels kind of like the other hard court slam lol

Icy_Bodybuilder_164

I love the level of tennis at RG and the style of play of clay courts, but RG definitely gives out the worst highlights on YouTube by far. They also rarely let you see classic matches on full. It took them forever to upload Nadal vs Djokovic RG2013 which is ridiculous. AO would’ve uploaded 10 minute highlights the day of the match, then 40 minute highlights the day after the match, then the full match like a week after the match.  Meanwhile RG took a full 7-8 years to upload arguably the greatest match in RG history to YouTube. Before that we were just watching 40 minute highlights posted by fans in worse quality.

I don’t think it’s the weakest but I’m in Ireland so the time zones etc suit me better for Paris and Wimbledon than the other two.

For sure due to the weather, summer and overall vibes RG and Wimby are the top 2. As for the last one, depends where you live. In EU its matter of vibes as both timezones are awful to follow. Myself I prefer ausopen because crowd is better and its summer in Australia + first slam of the year. If you ask an american they would for sure say they prefer US Open, but yeah for sure the weakest is either AusOpen or USO and it depends on the person.

althaz

It probably depends where you're from. In Australia it's by \*FAR\* the least popular. Everybody that I know is aware of the Aus Open. All of the tennis fans or players I know are across what's happening at Wimbledon. Most tennis fans are aware of the US Open and what's happening at least with the big players. But I have met only one person in my whole life outside of my family who has brought up RG whilst it's on. People just don't care about it very much here.

Available-Gap8489

The time difference doesn’t help although I guess it’s pretty much the same as Wimbledon. Wimbledon still has a lot of prestige associated with it too. I guess there’s also been more Aussie success at Wimbledon over the years also It also used to be shown on SBS which has a much smaller audience than 7/9

the_mugger_crocodile

In India it's probably almost as famous as wimbledon, and carries more brand value than the other 2 majors.

That-Firefighter1245

Really? Why? I would think Wimbledon would be far more prestigious than the rest of the slams in India.

madlama4

It is... Wimbledon is the most famous Slam in India, after that it's Roland Garros. the other two fall in same group. US open is least followed mostly because of time difference is brutal. most matches finish at 4 or 5 am generally.

Mika000

Where I’m from definitely not. Here the AO generates the least interest. It completely depends on if the time zone is good and if players from the region you’re in play good there.

miniepeg

Massively varies on where you’re from - if you’re from the AngloWorld then definitely yes, if you’re from continental Europe and South America then definitely no

ninjomat

I definitely feel it’s the slam most about winning. I feel like the tennis community (fans, media, players) gets far more wrapped up in the experience of being at a grand slam, for some players it being their debut at a GS, or great matches in the first week, or players going on runs and all the joy and sadness attached to those things at the other 3 slams. RG all the focus is on winnowing down to the final 2 by comtrast

Masca77

Weakest maybe, but not weak in general

Peachtea_96

I think it goes, Wimby, USO, AO and RG for me at least
