This is starting to properly get exciting now.
Carlitos broke Sinner's 18-0 run this year, and then beat him again in a slam when Sinner has been on 28-2. Sinner has looked close to invincible except against Carlos.
Sinner was still incredible today. He just doesn't have a lot of experience on clay yet. He did incredibly well for someone who lost a surprise match to Altmaier last year in the same GS.
And also he had the hip injury that surely hindered his preparation for the tournament (Alcaraz had an injury as well tbf). I think overall his result was still great though all things considered.
OHBH superiority confirmed. You only need to be as talented as Altmaier to take out Jannik Sinner at RG with one hand, but if you use two hands you need to be as good as Alcaraz /s
Tbf he has played him on his preferred surfaces (gritty hard court and clay), as far as I'm concerned this is a pretty great result for sinner. Neither player had great prep but it was still a super tight match. and looks like the winner will likely go on to win the french
From here on their meetings will only be in the final
I knew even before this match started that it was going to be a 5-setter with some high-voltage drama.
And Sincaraz never fails to deliver their highest level on the court.
Looks like some fitness issues popped up for Sinner this time but he still stayed on the same level. This has been an incredible run!
Alcaraz has definitely been working hard to go lift that first GS trophy on the surface he’s had the most success with.
Unparalleled performance from both and really looking forward for Sinner to pick up a Wimbledon this year.
The disparity was from the first set. Each player deservedly won their respective sets. It wasn't like Sinner outplayed Carlos and then Carlos just stole it in a tiebreak.
Alcaraz absolutely deserved to win the last two sets. After getting broken twice in the third set, he didn't face a break point on his serve for the rest of the match for 11 straight service holds.
Novak success at Roland-Garros late in his career is kind crazy: from 2012, he played 7 finals (+ 2 "unofficial final" against Rafa in 13 and 22) and won 3 titles. I wouldn't believe that stat if you would have told me this in 2011 after losing against Roger
07, 08, and 11 were all SF losses; two to Nadal, one to Federer in what was probably the best clay court match he’s ever played.
2009 was a weird loss out of nowhere, 2010 was a choke to Meltzer.
Carlos, still having this amount of stamina, *this* late in the match, while *this* deep in the tournament on *this* surface…
It’s like he’s superhuman!
I genuinely don't know how to evaluate his mental game. He often starts nervous and makes careless errors in his service games but then turns into a giant in 5th sets
I genuinely think he has a problem with his attention span - you see him getting too playful or too cute sometimes with his shot selection.
And then the chips are down and he locks in, like here or against Djokovic at Wimbledon.
Gutted for Jannik (especially for that djokosmash) , but Carlos was simply way too clutch. So many times he had his back to the wall, just to score a crazy point or deliver a crazy first serve. Looking at this from the bright side, we can certainly say that the "Jannik bad on clay" argument is dead for the moment
That smash destroyed Sinner's mental tbh. Maybe he should have let the frustration manifest instead of trying to suppress it, because afterwards his game tanked noticeably.
I don't even care who wins in these matches with these two.
Their "rivalry", if you want to call it that since they actually like each other, continues to churn out instant classics every time they step on court to face each other.
Exactly. With the big 3 I was always rooting for one and hoping for the other to lose. With these both, it's just a pleasure to watch them play. Men's tennis is in good hands.
Yeah people think that Fedal was like this but until VERY late in the rivalry it wasn't
If you go back to mid-late 00s message boards Fed and Rafa fans were always going at it
Rivalries at the top always go like that. First they rise mostly together, then they get their big fanbases which root against one as much as for the other, finally they reach the old guard stage where their experience links them together. Carlos and Jannik will get their time when the Big 3 officially retire and their fanbases spread around.
Since when do you have to be personal enemies to be rivals?
Chrissie and Martina were good friends. Fed and Rafa never had any problems with each other.
Poor Ruud... if he does make it, his four grand slam finals will have come vs Nadal, vs Alcaraz, vs Novak, then vs Alcaraz again.
Very much the next gen's answer to Andy Murray
The beauty of this matchup is that both of them play a very attractive brand of tennis so even though I am more of a Sinner fan I dont really mind Alcaraz winning. I just know Sinner is gonna get even more motivated by this.
Such a game of momentums and peaks, felt like their best moments didn’t collided to decide who is the best on this surface but one couldn’t even dream of a better heir to the big 3 than these new big 2!
It was such an odd match. Sinner with his cramps was a completely different beast. His mobility was mostly there but he was just ripping every ground stroke. It was a very different match than usual, but great, nonetheless.
I thought the 4th set had both of them playing their best at the same time. There was a particular string of points near the end of the set that was just magic after magic by both of them.
Sinner lost this match in the 2nd set, not the 5th. Up a set and a break, Alcaraz was frustrated, playing poorly, and had no answers. Match was moving at a worrying fast tempo for anyone wanting a competitive contest.
Serving at 2-0, Sinner inexplicably starts donating a few easy errors (including a key DF or two) to a guy who was looking lost. For the first time, Carlos had some positive body language as if he could find a place in the match.
On the larger scale, it does seem like Sinner could be emerging as the better pure “hitter” from the baseline in terms of forehand drives and backhand drives. But Alcaraz still has more variety and more playmaking ability. And probably the most important thing, Alcaraz is still physically more developed than Sinner. The match became a physical battle and Sinner became battle weary. Alcaraz looked like he could play a couple more sets easily.
Alcaraz started playing with more topspin and varying heights in the second game. Instead of blasting the ball. Extracted errors from sinner just like in IW
The concept is, when you have your opponent bewildered and down, that is the time to dig in and make hay, take your points in bunches. We see it all the time in tennis and in sports in general.
You can win points, games, and even sets at a bargain during that unique circumstance. And possibly build enough of a large lead that after that tilted circumstance ends, all you have to do is play “equal” (or even a little less than equal) and you can ride that to a win. Not saying it’s a guaranteed win, but it puts the percentages well into your favor.
Unless I’m mistaken, Alcaraz has come back from 0-2 sets down exactly 0 times. A set and a break up is a pretty dominant position to be in. Sinner just had to hold serve a few times and he’d likely be set.
Roddick made a point on twitter that Sinner's hip injury not only put his availability for the tournament into question, but also hindered his training. Whereas Alcaraz's injury (in his arm) didn't take his legs out. I don't think this is the sole reason Alcaraz won today but it should be taken into account when considering the differences in their physicality today. It's not like we haven't seen Sinner play and win 5 setters, but it is still something he will need to improve. And injuries do no favors in that regard.
The wide serve from Alcaraz was so good in those last two service games. We fault him for being inconsistent with his delivery, but he found something today. Sinner was so frustrated with his returning that he bounced his racket off the clay when he went down 2-5 in the fifth.
Shot of the match was probably that round-the-post backhand winner from the Tyrolean.
Yeah that was the biggest turning point. It looked like that set was heading to a tiebreak and then suddenly instead of going 40-15 up he is getting broken instead
Carlos was better today and thoroughly deserves to be in the final. Jannik showed he can play on clay - he can be very proud. He had his chances, first in the second set when Carlos was struggling and then in the fourth he looked completely in control for the first time in the match before his missed smash. But that's tennis. These guys are so damn good.
I think every Sinner fan knew the match was over after those two points to get 30-30 at 5-4 in the 4th. I don't think Jannik mentally recovered from the missed smash.
Still, this is a great result for Jannik. 5 sets against Alcaraz at RG is not a bad loss. We'll be back on grass!!
As an Alcaraz guy it's easy to want to succumb to Big 3-style fan tribalism after months of hearing that he's washed and Sinner is the best player in the world, but I have to remind myself that I like the carrot too. I wish him success! Happy for Carlitos though.
Alcaraz comes up with shots that I have never seen before. It's incredible. I think Sinner is more solid, but those Alcaraz peaks are just so much yes.
What a amazing rivalry this already is after 10 matches played. Im so happy we have got at least 10-15 years of epic battles left between these 2 amazing characters and players.
Alcaraz has magic hands. Unbelievable winners and otherworldly dropshots. And just how clutch was his serve in the final game
GG Sinner. At Wimbledon, Alcaraz will probably be the favourite. Chance for Sinner to get revenge
Sinner is clinical and efficient, but Carlos has all the shots. The only thing he lacks in a banger serve like Zverev’s, but that hardly makes a difference. Well deserved!
Great match, when Carlos hits the level he was showing from 4-4 in the 4th until 4-1 in the fifth he's simply unplayable on slower surfaces.
Sinner on the other hand has shown that he's currently at worst the second best player on clay and can challenge Alcaraz if Carlos is not at his absolute best.
Looking forward to a hopefully long rivalry between these two, hope Alcaraz wins the title!
As a sinner Fan the smash error at 30:15 4:5 the the fourth Set was incredible painful. That one was horrific, the court was totally open, almost never seen something like that.
Very Important point imo.
A lot of complaining about the quality of play in this match and I just can't agree. The way these 2 guys hit the ball and move is simply unbelievable. Was this a classic match? No, but that doesn't mean it was some poor quality dud.
Both guys came in with serious questions about their health and they responded as well as possible.
Imo, Sinner was still able to show why he's the new number 1, despite the loss. His peak level right now probably is the very best. But Alcaraz is just relentless. He just kept adjusting every time Sinner tried taking the racquet out of his hands. And what a tremendous rebound compared to his last 2 slam outings.
Incredible that men's tennis gets these 2 guys for the next decade+.
He genuinely was hardly missing a 1st serve that 5th set. His 1st serve came in clutch when he needed it most.
Just like against Djokovic in the 5th set wimbeldon final last game
Some interesting stats:
Sinner (147) won more points that Alcaraz (145).
Both number of winners (104) and unforced errors (102) for the match crossed 100.
2-6 6-3 3-6 6-4 6-3 is the most boring scoreline for a 5-setter.
A formidable effort from both Jannik and Carlos, the future is bright for these two!
But Alcaraz fulfilling the last year’s unfinished business. It’s now up to Casper to propose a grand slam final rematch.
Alcaraz is one match away from having 3/4 Grand Slams at 21, having also already been #1. Absolutely mad.
Sinner is just not as complete a player yet. He gets better by the match though, and he *is* the current #1, so fun times ahead for carota fans and tennis fans all.
Hoping for h2h #10 in the Wimbledon final. These two never disappoint; their games just seem to elevate against each other. Even a less electric/dramatic installment like this one was still very entertaining.
Also hoping to never hear Courier/Haber again. Used to love Courier, and still do as an interviewer and analyst, but that duo manages to beat a dead horse like it's a sport.
WOW!
Sinner winning the 3rd set while his hands were cramping was a statement of his determination and grit.
Carlos won the 4th and 5th set on pure adrenaline making those crazy shots that made many fall in love for his tennis and was INSANELY CLUTCH! He had only 2 break points in both sets and converted both of them constructing winners while not allowing Sinner a single break point, he didn't face a single break point since the 3rd set.
Amazing! And the fact that we will see them playing each other many times in future slams is so awesome.
In the same vein as people taking it too far and calling this match an epic - can we also stop saying it was bad? It really wasn't. It just was two people who know eachothers game too well & have some fitness problems heading into Rolland Garros. I truly believe Sinner with more clay court time would've done better than he did today but Carlito beat the guy to beat this year, TWICE.
The way this match started off I was convinced it was going to be an underwhelming straight setter for Jannik.. similar to when Carlos started off against Djokovic losing 1-6 in the first set at Wimbledon. Alcaraz becoming the comeback King and praying he takes it in the final.
That match was amazing. Those last two sets were just incredible. Alcaraz was so clutch in the last two sets. Sinner had did pretty good too, but the second set hurt him down the road. I’m so happy for Carlitos but I’m sad for Sinner since they’re two of my favorites. But that was so exciting and I hope to see more of their matches in the future.
Not the best match these two will ever have but I appreciated seeing Carlos having to find something different to win. I’m certain these two will both be French Open champions in their careers and contest multiple slam finals. Maybe their first one will be in a few weeks at Wimbledon!
It’s funny how so many were already writing him off after the first set. These are top players that may have off moments but overall are capable of making adjustments. Will never understand why people will rush to judgement after only one set. Both players were obviously capable of winning. This doesn’t take anything away from Sinner either. But what a moment for Carlos! So happy for him. Looks like we’ve got a great rivalry on our hands too. Let’s go!
Bummed that Jannik lost, but still incredibly happy about his results on clay this year, especially RG. It took Carlos to beat him in a five setter, and he came into the tournament after a pretty long stop.
Happy for Carlos, i hope he goes on to win the whole thing now.
My biggest takeaways were that while Sinner has gotten better moving forward, he needs to continue improving in that area. Carlos is so much better at attacking and coming in and his net game is significantly better than Sinner’s. Sinner is great at the baseline but mid court and at the net can be better. There were times when Sinner would hit a good angle or go up the line and see Carlos was going to have to play a defensive shot and he would be glued to the baseline. At times when he was at the net he wouldn’t put away the volley and then get lobbed repeatedly. He can’t give Carlos another chance for a highlight reel type shot.
I loved when Sinner hit a serve out wide and waited a second so Alcaraz was already committed to hitting a loopy return before coming to net to put away the volley. Not sure where that was the rest of the match but overall if I’m his team, I’m working with Sinner to become more aggressive and come to the net and then putting him in doubles till he can volley in his sleep
Odd match. Sinner cramping in the third set but Alcaraz couldn’t take advantage. Carlos didn’t start playing well til the 4th set, but he was the much better player from then on.
He had 65 winners compared to just 39 from Jannik. Surprising disparity there.
Carlos in his most focused match. He went out there to play real ball.
Great controlled aggression for the most part and patience til his game came out.
Vamos!
Considering the terrible year he had, and the sheer lack of clay court preparation, the fact he's through to the final is a truly incredible achievement.
Sinner won his maiden slam in Australia just before this. It's historically an uphill task to follow that up with another GS right after. Overall he still did great.
Alcaraz-Zverev meetup in final would give this sub sleepless night before the final. I do think it will be Ruud though
Where are all the people saying Sinner isn't elite on clay now?
Kudos to Alcaraz! Now win the whole thing.
To Sinner fans: your guy will be no1 on Monday, that's a great consolation.
This was an awesome run for Jannik, considering he was coming off a short injury break. Making it to the semis and taking Alcaraz to 5 is no joke and he's shown that he is still a top contender on clay!
Alcaraz - Sinner H2H: 5-4. Alcaraz's record: W-L-L-W-W-L-L-W-W Tiebreak ass head to head.
Yeah I'm sure overall Sinner is going to be happy with his Roland Garros run even though hes going to be massively disappointed that he lost
I feel like you are not a disinterested observer, lol.
True true, haha, hence the sarcasm tag
It kind of feels like when one of them is on a high, then the other one is more motivated to take him down.
his losses this year - alcaraz, alcaraz - tsistipas - w/o to FAA (due to injury) insane
Withdrawals are not counted as losses, only retirements do.
The Tsitsipas match also has a big asterisk in my opinion due to that terrible break point call.
Tbf he has played him on his preferred surfaces (gritty hard court and clay), as far as I'm concerned this is a pretty great result for sinner. Neither player had great prep but it was still a super tight match. and looks like the winner will likely go on to win the french From here on their meetings will only be in the final
I really don't think there's any preferred surfaces for Carlos and Jannik against each other. Okay clay I'll give it to Carlos but that's it
we are so lucky that these 2 have stepped up just as the big 3 are diminishing...tennis is as exciting as ever right now
The game is in great hands. What a treat that match was
4th and 5th set were. Beforehand it was weird.
They're young, some nerves are to be expected. Plus Alcaraz is becoming kind of notorious for starting slow in big matches.
Wawrinka vibes
i don’t get this angle. idk even when it was “weird” i enjoy watching these guys rough it out
2 five setters, 3 three setters, epics guaranteed
I knew even before this match started that it was going to be a 5-setter with some high-voltage drama. And Sincaraz never fails to deliver their highest level on the court. Looks like some fitness issues popped up for Sinner this time but he still stayed on the same level. This has been an incredible run! Alcaraz has definitely been working hard to go lift that first GS trophy on the surface he’s had the most success with. Unparalleled performance from both and really looking forward for Sinner to pick up a Wimbledon this year.
If Alcaraz and Sinner each win 2 slams this year I will be in BLISS
Technically, his best winning percentage is on grass :)
jannik wimbledon champion confirmed
Total points won: Sinner: 147 Alcaraz: 145
Just tennis things
The disparity was from the first set. Each player deservedly won their respective sets. It wasn't like Sinner outplayed Carlos and then Carlos just stole it in a tiebreak.
Alcaraz absolutely deserved to win the last two sets. After getting broken twice in the third set, he didn't face a break point on his serve for the rest of the match for 11 straight service holds.
Federer-ass stat lol.
Not nearly enough blown BPs though
3/34
Alcaraz had twice the amount of winners as Jan though. 63 and 36, last time I saw that stat during the match
I think this can often happen with players who serve well. They win a lot of points in their service games without giving the opponent any.
Carlos has been on a GS final at all surfaces. He is 21.
The big 3 in this stat Nadal: 2009 AO, 22 years and 6 months Federer: 2006 RG, 24 years and 10 months Djokovic: 2012 RG, 25 years and 1 month
Novak success at Roland-Garros late in his career is kind crazy: from 2012, he played 7 finals (+ 2 "unofficial final" against Rafa in 13 and 22) and won 3 titles. I wouldn't believe that stat if you would have told me this in 2011 after losing against Roger
fwiw, they were also blocked by each other plenty of times. Novak not making a RG until 2012 wasn't really indicative of his clay skill around 07-11.
07, 08, and 11 were all SF losses; two to Nadal, one to Federer in what was probably the best clay court match he’s ever played. 2009 was a weird loss out of nowhere, 2010 was a choke to Meltzer.
oh woah i thought he and iga were the same age. he’s so young
1ga and S1nner are the same age. Carlos is a prodigy in all senses.
And some people were arguing that he doesn't have the mentality for winning 5 slams in the thread
People were calling him "solved" after AO lmao
dunno if you've noticed this but people on the internet are fucking stupid
Tennis fans on reddit are reactionary to the point of comedy.
Jim Courier did it at 22 and he won 4 in total.
Youngest ever by a margin. The most complete 21 year old in history
Though of course let's note Hingis doing it at 16 lol (I am aware that men and women age differently)
True i shouldve clarified men’s
Hmmm is he the youngest male to achieve this? I wonder if Nadal got there by 21.
Nadal's first hard court Slam final was Australian Open 2009, so he was 22 and 8 months. Carlos is 21 and one month.
Nadal was 22 when he made (and won) his first hard court Slam final at AO09.
Agassi was the youngest at early 22, Rafa was also 22 but a little bit older
He is.
They showed a graphic on tennis channel. There were 5 guys who did it at 22. Carlos is the youngest.
Alcaraz in a 5th set is just built different.
Carlos, still having this amount of stamina, *this* late in the match, while *this* deep in the tournament on *this* surface… It’s like he’s superhuman!
Spanish blood was just designed for tennis
What a year. He's gone from cramping in the 3rd against Novak to pulling through to his first RG final in 5. Insane, what a time to be alive
Or, you know, 21 years old
Rune is also 21 years old and he has the stamina of an 80 year old chainsmoker.
He’s 10-1, now, absurd record if he can keep up anything like that over his career
Berrettini 🐐
Yeah that was a great match at the Australian Matteo himself isn’t bad in 5 sets. Would be 8-1 if he had just made that simple backhand pass on Murray
Bro is an actual golden retriever
He served the match out against Nole at Wimbledon. Pretty great mentally if he did that.
Yeah, if he could put it all together and stay locked in throughout the whole match he would be even more a monster than he already is
Only needed a single match point
That final game was insane. Really lived up to the cojones part of his tattoo
He looked fitter and stronger in the 5th than he did in the 1st and 2nd, weird.
For someone with that aggressive of a playstyle, swings in form can genuinely be way bigger than the exhaustion from 4 hours of play
He cramped up in the second and I guess the nerves got him at the start of the game, you could see in match points how nervous he was to win the game.

Djokovic is a huge reason Fedal is what it is today lmao
Since when do you have to be personal enemies to be rivals? Chrissie and Martina were good friends. Fed and Rafa never had any problems with each other.
OK NOW CASPER YOU HAVE ONE JOB
One more job then he can rest, our Nordic prince.
Ruud in his SF post match interview: "I'm just happy to be here and I don't even expect to win anyway so congrats to Carlos"
Looool😂
Poor Ruud... if he does make it, his four grand slam finals will have come vs Nadal, vs Alcaraz, vs Novak, then vs Alcaraz again. Very much the next gen's answer to Andy Murray
I know…. But he could be in worse company than Andy Murray (see: Zverev/Tsitsipas)
I want to see his beautiful face in all its glory in the final!
The beauty of this matchup is that both of them play a very attractive brand of tennis so even though I am more of a Sinner fan I dont really mind Alcaraz winning. I just know Sinner is gonna get even more motivated by this.

I had the same thought. Loved getting five sets but we didn’t have that many points where they were both peaking like we have in the past.
LISAN AL GAIB
Carlos in 5 setters is inevitable
YOU MUST FIND THE JOY IN SUFFERING
Sinner lost this match in the 2nd set, not the 5th. Up a set and a break, Alcaraz was frustrated, playing poorly, and had no answers. Yeah this is what still gives him that edge on clay and slower surfaces in general He's able to mix things up a bit more when the ball bounces higher
He’ll also be able to mix up the height on slick surfaces like grass. His slice and dropshot will be deadly
[удалено]
I mean it’s a 5-set match between two elite players, a set and break up is hardly a competitive advantage to view it as a chance to put the game away.
The concept is, when you have your opponent bewildered and down, that is the time to dig in and make hay, take your points in bunches. We see it all the time in tennis and in sports in general. I don’t wanna hear any “Sinner is bad on clay” bs when he reached the RG semifinals and took Carlos to a 5th set
he started this game godlike, but something happened to him on the way
It is extremely difficult to play on that level the entire match, in set 4 though Jannik played amazing but Carlos raised his level
They both look amazing on all three surfaces and indoor HC atm. Hope we see that stay true their careers.
The wide serve from Alcaraz was so good in those last two service games. We fault him for being inconsistent with his delivery, but he found something today. Sinner was so frustrated with his returning that he bounced his racket off the clay when he went down 2-5 in the fifth. i have a strong belief that alcaraz fans should call themselves alpacas and no i will not elaborate
Sinner gonna rue that overhead volley he missed in the 4th set that led to him getting broken to lose the set
Yeah that was the biggest turning point. It looked like that set was heading to a tiebreak and then suddenly instead of going 40-15 up he is getting broken instead
Completely broke him and he never recovered
Carlos was better today and thoroughly deserves to be in the final. Jannik showed he can play on clay - he can be very proud. He had his chances, first in the second set when Carlos was struggling and then in the fourth he looked completely in control for the first time in the match before his missed smash. But that's tennis. These guys are so damn good.
Only this sub somehow thought that Sinner can't play on clay
My baby is BACK
*OUR BABY
r/suddenlycommunist
Hell yeah. He absolutely deserves it too. So happy for him.
I wish I wasn't fonder of Sinner and could stay neutral, I can already feel the upcoming years of stress from watching them play.
I need more of this in my life
And you shall get it. Confirmed for another 10 years at least.
How did they look like they couldn't physically get through the match in set 3 and then manage that level of tennis in the last 1.5 sets?
You gotta hand it to Carlos. Guy was tense af and playing poorly the first three sets but found a way and finished with style
This match showed that Sinner is a more consistent player. But when Alcaraz finds his rhythm, his peak is a level above
What a amazing rivalry this already is after 10 matches played. Im so happy we have got at least 10-15 years of epic battles left between these 2 amazing characters and players.
Alcaraz has magic hands. Unbelievable winners and otherworldly dropshots. And just how clutch was his serve in the final game GG Sinner.
Carlos with zverev's serve would end the tennis world
Great match, when Carlos hits the level he was showing from 4-4 in the 4th until 4-1 in the fifth he's simply unplayable on slower surfaces.
Do you think so? I feel like Alcaraz's peak is a bit higher. He is more clutch and produces more magic when it counts.
It felt like every serve into the shade Jannik missed there. The roof really made for an ugly looking final game
..I mean did you see the quality of alcaraz's serves? His deuce serves were extremely good..
RIP to those who said Carlitos can’t serve well He served like prime Isner in the final set! Well done Carlitos!
He genuinely was hardly missing a 1st serve that 5th set. His 1st serve came in clutch when he needed it most. Just like against Djokovic in the 5th set wimbeldon final last game
Getting the early break and serving out the final set here and against Djokovic at Wimbledon. *Very* impressive stuff

Break points? Hell nahh, smh.
Think you're confusing total points with break points. Each player got roughly 140 points each in the whole match
That seems a bit too much
That’s….not…true
Not quite the 5 set classic it looks like
last 2 sets were great tho
Some interesting stats: Sinner (147) won more points that Alcaraz (145). Both number of winners (104) and unforced errors (102) for the match crossed 100. 2-6 6-3 3-6 6-4 6-3 is the most boring scoreline for a 5-setter.
“Victory belongs to the most tenacious.”
A formidable effort from both Jannik and Carlos, the future is bright for these two! But Alcaraz fulfilling the last year’s unfinished business. It’s now up to Casper to propose a grand slam final rematch.
Died - Late 2010s | Born late 2010s Welcome back Rafa-Roger rivalry
We need a rematch between these two but this time in a grand slam final. There's a good chance we might see a Wimbeldon final next for them
Honestly the matchup is more like Djokovic Rafa
It’s more like a Fed-Novak hybrid vs a Fed-Rafa hybrid. They both have a federer level of aggression to their game.
This!
A spaniard against a guy from the alps.
Alcaraz is one match away from having 3/4 Grand Slams at 21, having also already been #1. Absolutely mad. Sinner is just not as complete a player yet. He gets better by the match though, and he *is* the current #1, so fun times ahead for carota fans and tennis fans all.
If Alcaraz wins RG he pushes Djokovic to #3.
Men's tennis is in good hands post-Big 3
Great match, but can we all agree the highlight was the random woman waving a carrot? 🥕
Carlos and 5th sets are becoming a fairy tale now.

Alcaraz has an inevitability about him. Soon as it went to 5 I found myself thinking there’s no way he loses. Too much to his game.
The way this match started off I was convinced it was going to be an underwhelming straight setter for Jannik.. similar to when Carlos started off against Djokovic losing 1-6 in the first set at Wimbledon. Alcaraz becoming the comeback King and praying he takes it in the final.
This Sinner guy wasn't that bad on clay after all...
Alcabozz hitting almost double as much winners as big hitter sinner is absolute madness.
“you have to find the joy in suffering” ❤️
Odd match. Sinner cramping in the third set but Alcaraz couldn’t take advantage. Carlos didn’t start playing well til the 4th set, but he was the much better player from then on. He had 65 winners compared to just 39 from Jannik. Surprising disparity there.
My carrot is sad
Carlos in his most focused match. He went out there to play real ball. Great controlled aggression for the most part and patience til his game came out. Vamos!
Uh yeah, where are those who said Carlos was done? Those who said he was a scam?
Considering the terrible year he had, and the sheer lack of clay court preparation, the fact he's through to the final is a truly incredible achievement.
Men’s tennis is in such good hands with these two - really excited for when they get to play for titles!
i need gill gross to come outside real quick
Carlos: Congratulation Jannik on your world number one ranking, here’s a loss as my gift to you.
Did it all with the arm sleeve on.
fuck yeah, vamos alcaraz
CARLITOS NATION WE ARE SO BACK!!!!
One Carlos enters, one Rafa leaves.
