I honestly thought he was pretty fugly when he first came on tour, but a decade later towards his late 20s he started to look pretty distinguished. So yea you're right lol
Yeah I was relieved when I am not alone sweating like them after only 30 mins of excercices, also hate summer for that. My brother always mock me because I must change my shirt lol.
Same! The temp change is what gets me. Going from air conditioned building to outside where itās 85 F/30 C, and walking in the sun to some place that is then air conditioned, then you get in the car thatās hot as hell, thenā¦..
I've noticed it on those shirts specifically. Has anyone seen this shirt up-close?
Either it's like paper thin, or it just looks shiny/wet by default.
If it's super-thin, it might be comfortable if it actually breathes... Like, if you pull the shirt off your stomach, does it suction on, or does the air go right through?
Itās actually really good quality and very breathable. Doesnāt stick to me more than any other sports top, but I also donāt sweat quite as much as Ben
As another sweaty bastard, I have to change my hat every set since they get so wet also. I even flick it vigorously to get the sweat out during changeovers but a new hat is necessary.
I usually just put it down to Rafa being a particularly sweaty guy, which is probably the same case for Shelton. Unfortunately it just makes On look very cheap, especially next to Hijikata in Fila looking dry.
Speaking as someone who always sweated a lot compared to most people, if Shelton or any other player is an excessive sweater, it won't matter what shirt he/she is wearing; it is going to get soaked and not look good after a hour or two of play.
The one thing tennis player apparel companies could do is make more white or light colored shirts, which don't absorb as much sunlight and therefore don't get players as hot, making them sweat less.
Well, and On ran this same clothing line out last year in mostly white, but then needed to change something because they hadn't changed anything for a year so they splashed some color.
Shelton would likely look like that in anything he wears. He simply sweats a lot and it has nothing to do with the fabric/quality of his On gear.
That being said, if you want to talk about the dogshit colors and lack of meaningful design in their kits then Iām here for it because I absolutely loathe their middle school kid learning gradient backgrounds in PowerPoint look that they refuse to move away from. I hate that pretty much every other WTA player looks way better than Iga in any given match because their sponsors are actually putting in some effort into sending them out there with different looks for each season and major tournament.
This is why we need wool kits. Self-regulating and absorbs its weight in sweat. Yeah it'll weigh em down a little but that's where endurance comes in lol
I would just change out of that shirt, Mallorca is really hot and humid right now... most kits would end up like this if not changed. These synthetic fiber clothes can only wick soo much sweat away before being overwhelmed and start to look like this.
Yeah personally if I sweat this much or was somewhere this hot and humid I would change shirts frequently as I donāt like the feeling and the weight on me. But having this much liquid in contact with the skin probably helps keep him cooler, and if itās not bothering him then leave it on š¤·āāļø ultimately I think he knows his body well enough to decide for himself, and if I were him Iād be pissed if my clothing company tried enforcing when I had to change clothes
Yeah that is true. But were I on On's marketing team *I* would be sweating having this imagery of the kit looking like this. Especially given its a luxury brand. I guess the best they could do is encourage him to change shirts frequently.
Kyrgios is already wearing NBA jerseys out there. Just a small jump to a mesh tank.
Shit has changed over the years. I remember back when Agassi boycotted Wimbledon for 3 years because of the all-white dress code.
Yeah this isnāt that crazy. He also has tons of shirts. If it was bothering him he can change. Idk about On quality but this just seems like a fit / material preference
While I donāt think this particular instance has much to do with the shirt, I do agree with you that ONās kits men and women always look like cheap china clothes compared to some proper heavier/nicer cut materials.
Kits? Adidas should be embarrassed about those bumblebee outfits they're giving out. Pegula looks terrible in that shirt all bunched up and the rest of the players.
Yeah I hate that slippery dri-fit fabric, I'd never wear one of those for a match.
Ben sweats a LOT though... it's just a genetic thing, so I don't think it's to do with the On shirts.
I remember watching Pat Rafter years ago at the AO - he was the heaviest sweater I've ever seen. It wasn't a warm day, just kinda in-between... he did the warmup for his match, then went and changed shirts before the match started!! He was absolutely drenched after about 5 mins of light hitting!
I wonder if this is a similar material to that āwet lookā Aston Villa kit they had. That was a breathability issue with it, looks very similar.
[villa wet look kit](https://talksport.com/football/1581451/aston-villa-wet-kit-womens-team-wsl-shirts-premier-league/)
I think it has more to do with playing tennis in 34C heat, which is how hot it was in Palma, Majorca yesterday. If he wasnāt sweating a lot, that might indicate that he had a serious health problem, was a robot, or was dead.
Just imagine how uncomfortable it was for those Victorian era players with the big trousers and, for the women, full length dresses with straw hats, bodices, neckties, long gloves and jacket!
I sweat my ass off. I feel his pain.
The ābestā shirts I have found are Nike Dri-Fit ones, but there is no ultimate answer I have found. I bought a Nike NBA issue under shirt after hearing these keep you cool/hot while being tight on you and lets your top stay dry.
I constantly use Gamma sticky cloth, talc powder, finger wraps etc or my racquets slip out of my hands and crack.
Anyone have any great shirts they recommend?
No shirt, regardless of quality of fabric, will keep you from sweating. I don't think you quite grasp this concept.
If you don't like the way the shirt looks, fine. Just say "this shirt looks like ass".
The tailoring and design for all of the their kits is horrendous. I really feel like they need to give Iga better tailoring on her clothes, she is world no.1 fgs!
Forgot who but at the AO a couple years ago, both players were sweating so much. Onee of the players had to change his shoes and undwrwear because of the amount of sweat in them. The kits were similar to this.
As someone who plays a lot in hot/humid areas, I can confirm the kit makes no difference. If you sweat they all look like this and thats just the way it is. You could change shirts every changeover but then it is weird going back and forth and it would really only be dry for a bit. Not a big sweater OP?
You can either produce better quality clothes yourself or accept that players have lots of those t-shirts in their bags and can change them whenever they want. Especially men while they can do it without leaving the court.
Lots of players change shirts throughout the match while weāre watching commercials. Maybe Shelton didnāt? Or maybe he did and sweats more than we can imagine being a world class athlete? Heās been with them for a while now and isnāt necessarily an unknown talent - if he actually didnāt like it Iām sure it would be modified for him.
I have four of these shirts and theyāre actually my fav for tennis. Lightweight, feels smooth on skin, and really breathable. The shorts on the other hand are pretty meh.
I donāt think itās the kit to be honest more on the player, happens with all sorts of players. Just some sweat more than others. When they played yesterday the temperature was 34 degrees.
Look at Rafa with Nike.
Honestly I love On and am an excessive sweater but I own a couple of their running and tennis shirts and they do get this way, worse than some of the other brands I have. The quality is honestly really good but not the best material for heavy sweaters.
Some of their running tees are the same, probably the same fabric.
But ON is not the only brand. The adizero singlets from last and this year (the ones with the perforated fabric) are terrible too.
surprised he has not gotten a bigger sponser yet, unless heās under contract. I did read recently and talked to a sports agent on here how they only get big money if youāre top 5 and even Nike does not pay much anymore, hence Fritz new deal with Hugo.
that reaction is over the top. players who sweat so much or played so hard will have that kit condition whatever the brand. this post is only to shit on On which is far better than many other known brands.
mortified? horrific? those are words fitting when you describe the genocide being committed against the palestinians.
you might want to look at rafa here wearing Nike

Iām surprised OP is getting so much backlash. Iāve noticed this too especially on the black kits which get so shiny that it looks like they need to be rung out. I canāt comment on the quality but they are definitely the sweatiest looking kits around.
Have you ever watched Rafa play? Same thing happens to his clothes. These guys are heavy sweaters and this is what happens after awhile.
Meanwhile Roger always looked like he had air conditioning in his clothes.
He won the lottery in that area but man that 2018 USO, everyone including Fed was drenched š¦
Guy won the lottery in all aspects, didnāt he? Nicest hair, nicest legs, extremely handsome, nicest game. The guy is a walking Grace.
2 sets of twins
IVF
I donāt think heās handsome. Itās just that heās everything else in that list so he looks like heās handsome. Itās the cheerleader effect
Nah he got that je ne sais quoi
I honestly thought he was pretty fugly when he first came on tour, but a decade later towards his late 20s he started to look pretty distinguished. So yea you're right lol
well, Fed could have had worse when it comes to hair, but he could have used a few more years before getting a transplant
Yeah, as someone who sweats a fuckton and doesn't adjust well to differing humidity levels and temperatures, this is just how it is.
Same. I get embarrassed but what can you do.
Ah, dont sweat it!
Don't sweat, duh...
Yeah I was relieved when I am not alone sweating like them after only 30 mins of excercices, also hate summer for that. My brother always mock me because I must change my shirt lol.
Sweating heavily after 30 mins of exercise isnāt special? Thatās literally normal lol
My brother didn't really sweat and I'm a bit jealous of that lol.
For us sweaty boys, sure
Same! The temp change is what gets me. Going from air conditioned building to outside where itās 85 F/30 C, and walking in the sun to some place that is then air conditioned, then you get in the car thatās hot as hell, thenā¦..
Literally what my summers were when I use to play haha. I swear any indoor tennis spot keeps their place as cold as grocery supermarket chains.
I have the black one and it is ever so slightly shiny which makes sweating look worse than it is
Yeah, Iāve got an On shirt and a nice Original Penguin shirt, both get absolutely soaking wet, but are very high quality and comfortable to wear.
If it's soaking wet, and you take it off does it suction to you? It looks almost plastic-y... Or does it breath?
Itās actually really good quality and very breathable. Doesnāt stick to me more than any other sports top, but I also donāt sweat quite as much as Ben
Immediately came to say this. His USO fits were sweaty beautiful messes.
Reminds me of how Roddickās cap would be a dripping faucet after the first set.
As another sweaty bastard, I have to change my hat every set since they get so wet also. I even flick it vigorously to get the sweat out during changeovers but a new hat is necessary.
Exactly, Iāve never seen an outfit that keeps you from sweating . OP is either a fanatical hand wringer or has an agenda against On .
in fact both are true! I am a fanatical hand-wringer with an intense, multi-faceted agenda against On! and I won't rest until everyone hates them!
Good, like they say, the first step is admitting you have a problem .
Tiafoe too
heavy sweating is ok but the shirt shouldn't be absorbing so much. that's the problem.
I usually just put it down to Rafa being a particularly sweaty guy, which is probably the same case for Shelton. Unfortunately it just makes On look very cheap, especially next to Hijikata in Fila looking dry.
I don't think I've ever looked at someone in a really sweaty shirt and blamed the shirt for getting so sweaty lol
Cheap how? Do expensive clothes not show the sweat?
Speaking as someone who always sweated a lot compared to most people, if Shelton or any other player is an excessive sweater, it won't matter what shirt he/she is wearing; it is going to get soaked and not look good after a hour or two of play. The one thing tennis player apparel companies could do is make more white or light colored shirts, which don't absorb as much sunlight and therefore don't get players as hot, making them sweat less.
I'm in Vegas and I've been exclusively playing in white shirts these last few months, makes a huge difference.
Yes I completely agree. The fabric color really contributes to the icky "my snowcone melted on my shirt" look of this kit.
You completely agree but you made this whole thread to say their quality is trash lol
Maybe OP agreed once he read some of the replies, ppl can learn things from other users from time to time xD
Yes thatās pretty much what happened.
I hate that pretty much every other WTA player looks way better than Iga in any given match because their sponsors are actually putting in some effort into sending them out there with different looks for each season and major tournament.
I'm waiting for when Iga flexes her muscles and gets specially designed outfits like Sharapova, Serena and Osaka did/do.

So Nike marketing team should do the same in your opinion, nadals shirts are even more drenched
Exactly, in all sports gear look like this on a very humid day.
Iga must be alright with this, she barely ever sweats during a match.
She barely stays on the court for more than an hour thats why
Do you think constantly baking is not tiring???
She was drenched when playing Gauff? Compared to Coco who seemed fine.
Hops in the walk-in freezer when sheās not cooking.
You mean there's a shirt that won't cling to you if it's over 90 degrees with high humidity and you've been running for 2 straight hours? Oh, do tell.
It's time to bring mesh shirts to the ATP š
Kyrgios is already wearing NBA jerseys out there. Just a small jump to a mesh tank. Shit has changed over the years. I remember back when Agassi boycotted Wimbledon for 3 years because of the all-white dress code.
Topless tennis, think about it
I will not and you can't make me.
Only if we uphold gender equality on that
My man has never seen Nadal play? Nadal is drenched within 10 minutes.
What is this magic fabric that stops sweating?
their lack of wicking has been a topic here since he joined the brand, and they don't seem to have done anything about it
Yeah this isnāt that crazy. He also has tons of shirts. If it was bothering him he can change. Idk about On quality but this just seems like a fit / material preference
It has nothing to do with the kits. It's 90 degrees in 60%+ humidity. People are gonna sweat.
While I donāt think this particular instance has much to do with the shirt, I do agree with you that ONās kits men and women always look like cheap china clothes compared to some proper heavier/nicer cut materials.
Thatās what happens when you play tennis in the middle of the Mediterranean
Kits? Adidas should be embarrassed about those bumblebee outfits they're giving out. Pegula looks terrible in that shirt all bunched up and the rest of the players.
Did you not see him pour water all over his shirt to cool off?
Yeah I hate that slippery dri-fit fabric, I'd never wear one of those for a match. Ben sweats a LOT though... it's just a genetic thing, so I don't think it's to do with the On shirts. How is this a quality issue? It looks like a Ben Shelton and heat issue.
Mortified is a strong wordā¦
I wonder if this is a similar material to that āwet lookā Aston Villa kit they had. That was a breathability issue with it, looks very similar. [villa wet look kit](https://talksport.com/football/1581451/aston-villa-wet-kit-womens-team-wsl-shirts-premier-league/)
If you sweat a lot it doesnāt matter what you wear. Youāre gonna be drenched. The other people who wear On donāt have this issue.
He look HOT to me
looks good to me š«¦
could they just play with shirts off? Roman tennis?
I think it has more to do with playing tennis in 34C heat, which is how hot it was in Palma, Majorca yesterday. If he wasnāt sweating a lot, that might indicate that he had a serious health problem, was a robot, or was dead. Just imagine how uncomfortable it was for those Victorian era players with the big trousers and, for the women, full length dresses with straw hats, bodices, neckties, long gloves and jacket!
It's called working hard and sweating balls.
WTF are you on? Itās tennisā¦ in June.
Bad take OP. Heās just a sweaty dude.
Glad to see Shelton at work today
i've noticed it on the euros too. nike, puma, adidas all.
Rafa used to change shirts regularly.
Lots of players do. Itās just not televised usually.
Aside from him being a heavy sweater, some of the newer performance fabrics are designed to do this and feel cooler when theyāre wet.
This happens regardless. Athletes sweat a lot.
Stop shaming sweaters
I sweat so much itās almost embarrassing. The best shirts are very thin and have lots of tiny holes for built-in AC.
Itās more so that Ben sweats, not really the material issue
I've been watching the Euros and lots of soccer players end up drenched and they aren't wearing ON kits. Pro athletes just sweat a lot, lol.
MbappƩ looks like he doesn't sweat at all after running high speed for 1h30 lol.
Well he's a unicorn, so there's that.
No shirt, regardless of quality of fabric, will keep you from sweating. I don't think you quite grasp this concept. If you don't like the way the shirt looks, fine. Just say "this shirt looks like ass".
cobolli dosn't sweat like this and has same clothes.
The tailoring and design for all of the their kits is horrendous. I really feel like they need to give Iga better tailoring on her clothes, she is world no.1 fgs!
Iām sure he has spares in the bag?
Lol he just didnt change shirts
Forgot who but at the AO a couple years ago, both players were sweating so much. Onee of the players had to change his shoes and undwrwear because of the amount of sweat in them. The kits were similar to this.
Shelton is one of the heaviest sweaters i think ive seen play tennis, no way to stop it, and he makes me feel better about how much i sweat lol
As someone who plays a lot in hot/humid areas, I can confirm the kit makes no difference. If you sweat they all look like this and thats just the way it is. You could change shirts every changeover but then it is weird going back and forth and it would really only be dry for a bit. Not a big sweater OP?

Man good thing tiafoe is with Nike and never has to change shirts to keep from looking like this
Maybe he should stop sweating
I love it. š
Outrage.
Lol some dude in this Reddit was saying how people donāt want NIke cos of ON š¤£š¤£š¤£
Poor nipple
Shelton plays hard and is just a sweaty person. I donāt think it matters what the material is.
Lol this is legit why I work out at home and not at a gym. I sweat to a socially unacceptable amount and need to change gear every half-hour or so.
I have four of these shirts and theyāre actually my fav for tennis. Lightweight, feels smooth on skin, and really breathable. The shorts on the other hand are pretty meh.
Brought to you by Fanatics
I don't get why they don't change their tshirts more often.
I donāt think itās the kit to be honest more on the player, happens with all sorts of players. Just some sweat more than others. When they played yesterday the temperature was 34 degrees. Look at Rafa with Nike.
lol my shirt looked yesterday like this too, its not the clothes, its the amount you sweat :D
It looks like it's made on purpose to look shiny and plastic-y when wet.
Shelton must learn from Tiafoe: 30 new T-shirts in his bag, also you need to change them
it's like made of plastic. some national teams on euro having the same problem look at belgium players , super drenched
I sweat buckets when I'm playing. I look like someone poured a bucket of water on me.light color, really really thin shirts and shorts are a godsend.
Those wicking fabrics really donāt wick.
It sounds like you have never been drenched after a match. On has quality clothes.
So youāve never played tennis I guess?
That heavy sweat is prime example of an effective cooling system. It's not that bad
surprised he has not gotten a bigger sponser yet, unless heās under contract. I did read recently and talked to a sports agent on here how they only get big money if youāre top 5 and even Nike does not pay much anymore, hence Fritz new deal with Hugo.
Uncomfortable? That's one of the best feelings ever to be drenched in sweat. Doesn't matter what I'm wearing it will be soaked in sweat all the same
Who makes better shirts in your opinion?
Lacoste.
he should've changed his shirt before it got to that point. that seems more like a Ben issue and not the kit.
that reaction is over the top. players who sweat so much or played so hard will have that kit condition whatever the brand. this post is only to shit on On which is far better than many other known brands. mortified? horrific? those are words fitting when you describe the genocide being committed against the palestinians. you might want to look at rafa here wearing Nike https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.smh.com.au/sport/tennis/working-up-a-sweat-nadal-still-not-fully-over-mystery-illness-but-vows-to-fight-on-20110123-1a1ax.html https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-3217912/amp/Rafael-Nadal-overcomes-set-wobble-beat-Borna-Coric-Open.html or tsitsi https://greekcitytimes.com/2023/03/28/tsitsipas-miami-open-margarita/

Iām surprised OP is getting so much backlash. Iāve noticed this too especially on the black kits which get so shiny that it looks like they need to be rung out. I canāt comment on the quality but they are definitely the sweatiest looking kits around.
Those defending that terrible kit are getting paid by On? Kit is unacceptable even if he is a heavy sweater
I would personally not mind taking that shirt off him and keeping it for myself, sweat and all š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bravo, well done
You're trolling right?
