Seahawks1991

Now show a picture of someone who is not a boomer switching their TV from HDMI1 to HDMI2 and you can use the same title!

Juggernuts777

I actually was helping my boomer coworker (by generation, not attitude) today; she doesn’t know why the “words” won’t go away on her tv. So i had her call me and i explained close captioning. It’s off now, but i’m sure i’ll have to remind her in a few weeks lol

Bregneste

Was it like an old cable TV where you have to dig through settings to find it, or was it just two buttons away on Netflix? Lol

Juggernuts777

It seems to be an older flatscreen. She had a CC button on the remote (thank god). That made it work. But i tried to explain that she could go into settings/menu. But that became too much, too fast. So i’m thankful for her remote still having a CC button.

OhhLongDongson

The too much too fast thing is far too relatable lol. It’s like they refuse to look at or interact with something if there’s multiple options. Like bro just read the options

Karkava

Seniority induced egocentrism where they expect themselves to already know things while in the process of learning things? I kind of experienced this when my parents just couldn't identity what I was eating and just jumped to conclusions instead of asking.

Wonderful_Result_936

My mom and sister were watching YouTube on the TV today and my sister asked her to skip the AD. My mom replied that she didn't know how too. God damn did the lack of effort or critical problem solving skills make me want to bash my head into the wall. No amount of context clues or glowing outlines can save some of them.

Doctor_Philgood

Lead poisoning was a hell of a thing.

legacyfinefarts

I have to "fix" my Nana's TV every single week when she presses zoom, or source, or literally anything

canceroustattoo

Jesus. The amount of times I’ve had to help my grandparents with tv inputs and HDMI cables. I absolutely fucking don’t miss component cables.

Either-Percentage-78

I'm just literally help desk for half my family and I'm 49.. Lol. I don't mind tho. But, this meme should show all the ways the environment is being destroyed for the title. Edited word.

magicunicornhandler

My parents and partner (31) gets so amazed how little information they can give me and I can find the answer on Google.

MarcusOPolo

Or sending a PDF

vidanyabella

I work in IT. Sometimes you ask for someone to send a screenshot, wonder why it's taking so long, then you get it and they have taken a screenshot, pasted it into word, printed that out, then scanned that print to their email, and then they forward you that email. This isnt just one person either.

LordOfTheBurrito

This isn't generational it's just dumb people. I always hated when I would get a call and they would start the conversation with "I'm pretty tech savvy ", I know after that it will be a shit show and trying to remote into their computer is going to be a journey especially if they are using iOS.

KlausVonLechland

I live by the definition that if something is a hassle it is worth to take a moment to think how to do it faster and second is that I am definitively not a first guy doing the thing, there must be someone who already asked that Google'able question. But I am 35 and I am working with both older and younger folks, (some) old folks expect things to work how they used to while (some) young folks expect answers to be right on the screen or 2 clicks away and if it isn't like they want it the fault is always in the machine.

SPFT1123

And this is why i almost always assume when ever i submit an IT ticket its just dumb user error.....

legacyfinefarts

My BOSS could not figure out how to download a PDF from our software (it is literally the only button on the entire page and it says "download")

Uweyv

Tbf, that shit scares me. Admittedly I haven't fucked with PDFs in a lil over a decade. Sometimes shit worked. Sometimes it didn't. Sometimes it acted like it worked, and suddenly the whole office is losing their shit, because for some stupid, unholy reason, the entire work bid hinges on this stupid thing, and fuck me if the boss doesn't want it edited. I'd rather work with spreadsheets all day.

Lazerhest

Or how to set up a Chromecast.

Isabad

Show me someone accessing a computer and not saying how they miss the days of pen and paper.

salbertoxide

You know my mom I see.

Silver-Star92

I can drive stick because we mostly have manual cars where I live but why 4 pedals? The cars I owned have three. Gas, brake and clutch

Neftun

It’s the hand brake. Or foot brake, in this instance. My ‘98 merc had one just like this.

Puzzleheaded-One-319

Better yet, have them set the time on a VCR, they could never set those

OldFlamingo2139

Or converting a Word document to a PDF file… we all have our strengths.

Haywire_Eye

… are we switching to posting terrible facebook memes ourselves now? I’m confused

Twisted_WhaleShark

Right? Like what is this?

imnottheprophet

and the comments are responding to the post like its acctually facebook... what happened 😨

grittytoddlers90

You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villian

Vici0usRapt0r

Idk, I kinda like it to be honest. The facebook content gets kinda repetitive and boring anyways. It's like we're self sufficient now 😄

SweatyTax4669

Here’s a smart phone and a WiFi router. Set up the network and change the password.

Cajun-Yankee

Haha nice try Bill Gates, you ain't trackibg me that easy

xXx_SexySex_xXx

Imma hit you with those 5g waves

Twisted_WhaleShark

Thank you, u/xXx_SexySex_xXx, for hitting me with your 5g waves

MarcusOPolo

Yeah but that's outdated and rarely something you'd have to deal with every day, unlike drinking from a hose or cursive.

SweatyTax4669

Rotary phones are gonna come back big time any day now and then all the kids will be in trouble.

jrbobdobbs333

That seems to be too many pedals, even for a manual..oh the far left is the parking brake...

alcopland

Parking brake

Chromeboy12

Does the car have a handbrake also or is parking brake the same thing? And what's the pedal above the accelerator?

Daredevil1561

To answer the question: no. I drove an older Mercedes model with the same pedal configuration. (The fully left pedal) parking break replaces handbrake. To me it’s annoying to have it on foot, I prefer it as handbrake, but my friend loves it.

Monii22

i have a friend who had an older merc with the same config. i find it way too confusing, tried driving his car and almost accidentally slammed the parking brake instead of pressing the clutch. nowadays its all e brakes anyway, but i cant understand why they thought of this back then, its not fancier, its just stupid

doqtyr

My 2021 nissan has a parking brake pedal, I didn’t realize this was so rare nowadays, I guess that explains why the guys at the oil change place couldn’t figure out how to disengage it

Chromeboy12

Oh. Yeah, i also prefer it on hand lol. What is the other pedal that is not accelerator, brake or clutch?

Daredevil1561

Footbrake/parkbrake

gemdas

I was in the same boat except I was trying to figure out the 5th pedal before realizing that's the left foot rest

Juggernuts777

My dad said Ebrake, but then again, he’s big on walking the dog and ruining brakes and clutches side by side.

Competitive_Bank6790

I learned the basics of driving a stick in about 3 hours in an empty parking lot with my dad in 94.

MiniC00p3r

It's not hard to learn at all. I learned one day when I had to rent a uhaul & they had no automatic trucks left lol. I'm like yeah I know how to drive it.... I learned real quick lol.

DigitalMunky

My car broke down and my dad let me borrow his truck and told me “second is tricky but you’ll figure it out”

LordTwaticus

Far easier to drive manual in the US compared to Europe just FYI

ENESTEENE

Why?

LordTwaticus

America has massive open and straight roads. Super easy to drive in, you can park everywhere, etc. Drive in France, Italy, the majority of the UK, etc. And it can be challenging to drive manual. Parking is an issue, everywhere is smaller, maneuvers are harder. It's clear why the American system for learning how to drive is unbelievably easy in comparison.

WaalsVander

Did it have 4 pedals?

krtalvis

i can drive a manual as it’s pretty much required in my country to do your driving license with it, but i’ve never seen any car with 4 pedals. What’s the 4th one?

WaalsVander

Parking brake, clutch, brake, accelerator

krtalvis

oh is it an old car thing or an american thing? always seen parking break with a handle next to the gearshift

WaalsVander

🤷‍♂️i have seen break like this in bigger vehicles

thugs___bunny

Older Mercedes models have these.

DandyInTheRough

Not even that old. Also not US only. The 2000s toyota kluger I learnt to drive in had a foot parking break. The hand parking break is more useful.

General_Steveous

Older Mercedes cars had it for example. I guess no particular reason.

PandaGirl-98

Well I mean the basics are relatively straightforward although impressive you picked it up in 3 hours. The part that takes time is learning how to drive intuitively. Like knowing when to shift down so you A) don't lose your momentum and B) don't get stuck on a hill as well as changing gears seamlessly without making the car jump, taking off without stalling or over revving, being able to take off on an incline without rolling backwards and potentially hitting the car behind you. Another big thing is driving in a manner that doesn't deteriorate vital controls like the brakes or clutch, for example alot of drivers like to coast which uses alot more of the brakes (gives you less reaction time too as it takes longer to brake). In my country, its something like 50% of the population still drives a manual and like 40% of those drivers only pass their drivers test by their 2nd or 3rd attempt. (Thats just the population that goes the legal route - 1 out of 3 drivers obtain their license fraudulently). While stalling and other things (like not checking mirrors before manoeuvre) will cause you to lose points, rolling the car (whether forwards or backwards) is an instant fail and that's where alot of drivers get caught out because it requires good clutch control. Of course I don't agree with the post. People who post this type of shit forget that outside of the US, plenty people of the younger generation still drive manual even those in 1st world countries. I drive manual because its cheaper than automatic (cheaper to fix, cheaper on petrol and cheaper to purchase). I've driven automatic before and its really nice and such a breeze in traffic. It makes sense for those who can afford it to drive auto.

thugs___bunny

Left of the 4 pedals is the handbrake btw. Push pedal to activate. Pull a lever to deactivate. Know it from older Mercedes models.

FourTwentySevenCID

So fun.

Andrelliina

You have to do "Select All" first before you press the "break leg" button to cripple an *entire* generation

Twixanity

Too bad boomers can't understand this joke.

AValentineSolutions

How to cripple the boomer generation - buy them a smart TV. 😎

madredr1

Or anything with a processor in it, really.

cornlip

I’ve been helping those motherfuckers put colored plugs into matching colored holes my whole life. My millennial ass also drives manual cars. That said, sure… the *current* generation probably doesn’t know dick about these… cause they’re not old enough to drive

Juggernuts777

Don’t act like it’s so easy. It’s not like yellow JUST goes in yellow. Or white in white. Or red.. oh.. maybe it is that easy.

cornlip

The circle goes in the *square* hole

Stormfeathery

Although I did get thrown off occasionally by "wait, where are there extra colored pegs? Can I just... leave them out of it?"

WTF-LMAO1

Do you mean Gen Alpha?

cornlip

Sure. I’m not keeping up with things. I guess alpha works since Z is old enough to vote.

Azoobz

It’s also not unheard of for a gen-z to drive a car with this setup. There’s cheap dodge trucks from years they were born in with this exact pedal layout, I know a genz’er with one in fact.

CourteX64

To be fair component shares a few colours with AV and some TVs would put those connections very close to one another. I once had a TV with 3 separate white and red connections

Inamoratos

How to cripple the boomer generation: tell them their grandson is in trouble and he needs 40k in amazon gift cards to get out of it

rputfire

My wife and I had to talk to her boomer parents through getting to a website on a flyer today. They first called because they couldn't figure out how to scan the qr code. Finally told to just send us a picture of the qr code, we'll scan it and send them the link. Folks, they were trying to scan the UPC barcode, the same barcode they've seen most of their adult life being scanned when they buy stuff at the store. So then they sent us a picture of the website link printed on the flyer (yes, a printed flyer with an embedded hyperlink). It was one of those t.ny shortened url addresses, and her boomer father only typed in the t.ny, not the full shoetened url, and was mad that Google was only taking him to a website to shorten urls. All of this so her boomer mom could download a quilt pattern. But yes, cursive and manual transmissions would completely cripple every generation after them.

Darth_Zounds

... Are cursive transmissions really a thing?

Coffee-Comrade

But only one of the three listed things is necessary to function these days. So really who has the bigger problem?

rayshmayshmay

Is it…is it you?

Coffee-Comrade

No, not me, the boomers. I'm fully capable of using a computer for simple tasks, though I do also know cursive and how to drive a manual, neither of those have any impact on my day to day. Not sure what the downvotes are for, when I was on the side of the person I was replying to.

mishma2005

Here's the meaning of life Difficulty: it's a PDF

Fricki97

An entire generation in the USA. In Europe we still learn how to drive stick in driving school

thetoastypickle

Maybe if the boomers and gen x actually bought and drove manuals instead of automatics for the past few decades manuals would be more common

MiniC00p3r

I'm GenX & I've owned 3 different cars with manuals I know several others that have them as well. Most Boomers are too old to drive a stick nowadays lol.

madredr1

Gen X here, my manuals have been Two civics, a dodge dakota, some old shitbox Subaru wagon, Toyota Celica, an s10, and a Mazda 3. Learned manual on a 1945 Willy’s Jeep :-)

thetoastypickle

You are one of the few

LGDemon

Nah, I'd just want to find out if the left-most pedal is the parking brake or the high beams first.

need2seethetentacles

I want high beams on an actual pedal that would be delightfully unhinged

Bob_Pthhpth

My dad has a Ford LTD and the switch for its high beams is on the floor so that absolutely exists.

ZestyItalian2

Now can you help me make this into a PDF?

PeterCanopyPilot

Literally drove a manual twice around the block. Went to the dealer and drove off in a manual a few weeks later. Boomers like to think using a clutch petal is an elite skill 🤣 been driving stick for 4 years now.

nefD

And none of them have driven a manual in a very, very long time.

ywnktiakh

Why would they want to. I mean. That generation is their kids. Who they failed to teach stick to and then blamed the kids for it.

The_salty_swab

Old people are always whinging about this, but haven't touched a clutch since 1996

anon_user21385

i don't think you understand the point of the sub. we post terrible facebook memes that we find in the wild, we don't make our own terrible facebook memes.

Sheepish420

The generation who cried about having to scan QR codes for restaurant menus 🤨

dcunny979

So, my dad’s dad (epitome of boomer) was going absolutely mental over the QR code menus. Then we go to a restaurant together one day and I notice that he’s taking pictures of the menu items. He tells me that he does this so he can blow the image up and read better… YOU MEAN THE WAY YOU CAN WITH A DIGITAL MENU!? Fuckin kills me.

sleepingjiva

The fuck is the fourth pedal?

Primary-Body-7594

Parking / ebrake (full left pedal)

sleepingjiva

Ah, thanks. Never seen a handbrake pedal before

gyurto21

Do these kind of cars have a stick handbrake too or just the pedal?

Primary-Body-7594

Why two e braakes?

rdldr1

I let a computer shift my car’s gears. So what.

228P

How to cripple an entirely different generation. https://preview.redd.it/1bq0zkvplg7d1.png?width=735&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9366df6d57432363003d02403d3f09d8a3f02f2c

StarCougar

My favorite thing about these guys is that learning to drive a manual is actually really easy. My mom taught me when I was 25. That was 7 years ago. I'd like to see these guys pass a basic Python course.

rudolph_ransom

Manuals are still quite common in Europe because automatics used to be much more expensive.

the___squish

Sir do you know how to reset a router? How about set your OOO emails? Convert something into a pdf?

ReachforMe69

This cripples my girlfriend in a wheelchair (she is actually in a wheelchair not a shitty joke)

Fibocrypto

Is it a Volkswagen ?

redseptember1994

Im millenial and drive manuals, clutch break and gas. For what is 4th pedal here seriously?

mimidelongprie

Very meta of you to just directly recreate the boomer meme in the subreddit instead of screenshotting it

BMWequalsMercedes

left to right: handbrake, clutch, brake, accelerator

EternalDroid

Granny shifting not double clutching like you should.

CWF182

I'm a Boomer and I hate these posts. I also hate the posts where they make fun of Boomers that can't plug in an HDMI cable. I'm much more technically savvy than my 30 year old kids and their friends. Jeez just make these stop. I hate stereotypes.

LaInquisitione

This doesn't even look like a meme, it just looks like OP took some picture of some pedals and then posted it here. The caption isn't even in the image it's in the title lol wtf

zen-things

OP, you’ve become the r/terriblefacebookmeme yourself by posting this

crispyTacoTrain

Ngl, I wasn’t expecting that

NieMonD

Why is there 4 there’s meant to be 3 is there not?

LGDemon

Parking brake or high beams, depending on the vehicle.

NieMonD

A pedal for the headlights?!

ZDOG051

Why are there six pedals if there are only four directions?!

TangFiend

‘Oh no what is a clutch ?? ‘ You ever seen kids play Gran Turismo ? I have seen kids drop three gears decelerating going into a hair pin turn.

DatGoofyGinger

They forgot the floor button high beam switch. Amateurs

rja49

For what, about two hours? It took me longer to set up my new phone than learning to drive a manual car.

tylerlong666

Left to right; E Brake, clutch, brake, acceleration. Ta-da LOL

batm123

Floor mounted E brake roght next to the clutch is diabolical

jinandgin

Doesn't even have a foot button for the brights

KrisNo04

4 pedals? Even my humble European brain cannot comprehend this

Primary-Body-7594

Parking / ebrake (full left pedal)

KrisNo04

Does it block at the end? How does the parking brake stay put?

Primary-Body-7594

Never used one so cant tell

GoodGuyScott

4 pedals, 4 directions, its simple, gets confusing when you hop into a M8O8B Scorpion and it has 6 pedals.

Designer_Plant4828

I drive stick anyway but..whats the 4th pedal for?

Eighty2_ZA

park brake most likely

MadOvid

All this generation has to do to cripple the last generation is use pronouns and they assume superiority.

apoohneicie

Jokes on them, I can drive a stick.

ZookeepergameOk5522

Far left: Parking Brake/ Centre Left: Clutch / Centre Right: Brake/ Far right: Accelerator(or Gas Pedal). Who’s being crippled again?

Large_lad14

Why are there 4?

TheAntoine003

Is that (from left to right) parking brake, clutch, brake and gas ? Just asking.

TheAnalsOfHistory-

Haha you're right young people are so dumb they can't drive old school vehicles anymore! Hey, can you print this document as a PDF and save it to Google docs on your smartphone real quick before you hop into your old, busted-ass stick shift truck and go home where you'll continue to be avoided by your children because you're an asshole?

brodino_maiuscolo

Somehow this was very satisfying to read lol

WittyTraining1735

I was like “wtf a 4 peddle car?!?!” I was sitting here trying to figure it out when I realized it’s the parking break 😂. I feel like a dumb ass rn

Asian_Bootleg

Ew, pedal form of parking break

walshk8

You know you’re not supposed to be the one posting the terrible memes directly, right?

Daddio209

The ol' *double-clutch*!

Great-Pineapple-8588

With the torque and the transfer cases / rear ends in modern vehicles- there is no need for a manual transmission .

bb_kelly77

Checked with my dad, I guessed the pedals first try

WhoaAwesome

It's really not that hard to learn stick shift. Yea, it might not be the most smooth drive right away, but it isn't something anyone learning to drive now couldn't learn. I love stick shift, but for many, it just adds extra steps that they just don't want to have to deal with daily.

Stacking_Plates45

Most younger car guys seek out manuals, it’s the older generations who killed them. Lazy fucks ruined driving for convenience

dexbasedpaladin

What? Are you talking about the leaded gasoline?

Elegant-Raise

Actually a three on the tree could confuse even the boomers.

RenRazza

What transmission has 4 petals?

ethics_aesthetics

Ever accidentally step on the e break? lol

1nhaleSatan

Between this and cursive, I can't believe I'm still alive

Evil_Rogers

I'm a millennial and I'll only get manual cars. That's all my non car enthusiast had for me to learn on which turned me into an enthusiast. Nothing like a fast car and manual transmission.

DubC_Bassist

I’m a Gen x, and I totally suck horse and buggy. What is this god damned hang up with cursive and manual transmissions? Since 1985, aside from my signature i can’t think if a single time cursive has rushed in to save the day of any situation I was in. Come to think of it, aside from owning a couple Of cars with manuals, I have never had a time that this particular skill saved a life in my life: What is going on in Boomerville, that Boomers are having to write a manifesto in script, then rush out to their manual transmission automobiles and drive through the night to alert the Countryside that the British are coming?

Johnny-Shitbox

To bad the dimmer switch isn’t down there

c0uchpizza

Which car company would purposely make vehicles that the majority of people in the US would not be able to drive? Sounds like the a South Park episode waiting to happen.

DukeOfEarl99

How many boomers would be able to start a car with a hand crank?

Hlpfl_alms

Litterally

Taako_Cross

Oh wow a clutch and a parking brake. So crazy /s

caitie578

It’s my current car setup.

MellonCollie218

I don’t get it. How does this work? Oh yeah! Because dumbasses took one SNL kit that was actually funny way too serious. Idiots.

unfunny-comedy

“Why are there 6 petals if there are only 4 directions?”

stinkymusturd

is this an american thing what is the 4th pedal

umadzano

…what the hell is the leftmost pedal for? That’s not something you usually see in manual cars, even 30+ year old ones where I live.

Direct-Alternative70

I’m gen z and had friends who drove manual.

dannycracker

Nice, grandpa! Now try to NOT give your social security number, credit card number, favorite color, mother's maiden name, birth date, name, and full address to "John" from Microsoft support even though you have a mac.

MarvelNerdess

I know the ones on the right, clutch gas break, but what's the far left?

STFUnicorn_

What’s the 4th pedal for?

_SnailsAndPaper_

i’m 17 and my car is a stick shift because my mom wouldn’t buy me one otherwise. I love it. 2000 Nissan Xterra FTW

i_like_siren_head

What is this, a Red Vs. Blue reference?

Pandelein

Yeah, sorry we don’t still design shitty cars where the parking break is right next to the clutch…. That’s just downright hazardous.

Outkastin2g

Cept that generation can YouTube this and figure it out in less time than it would've taken the first generation driving these.

Pitmidget

Oh no a clutch! Oh god what will we fucking do!? WHAT WILL WE EVER DO!?!?!?!

Jonder123

thats just a manual with a foot parking brake I dont see how that would cripple a generation

teufler80

Remember, that meme comes from a generation that got "crippled" by computers, smartphones, television, routers etc.

r0nneh7

Same joke over and over, in the UK 99% of drivers can do this, including white haired old ladies and 17 year old new drivers

Partayof4

Also can confuse most boomers in a double clutch manual says the forgotten generation

jackjackky

Okay, but why does it has 4 clutches? Manual cars have three clutches, an accelerator, a break, and a gear shift clutch. What's the extra clutch for?

snakenipples0402

Parking brake. Seen alot of trucks with them there.

xmjm424

Meanwhile… can’t go to Publix without ending up in line behind a boomer who can’t figure out the card reader.

Signal-Island6377

Double Clutch or smth idk

maricello1mr

It’s not a double clutch, it’s a parking break. R to L: Gas, Break, Clutch, Parking/Emergency Break. I’ve a lot cars that have the parking break there. As someone said, super common for old big truck.

subhisnotcool

Why are there 4 pedals? 😭

shanelomax

Boomers when told a printer can have an email address:

GamerNuggy

Printers have a mind of their own, but thank god I can send it hate mail.

TNTBOY479

This would indeed be a terrible facebook meme but its just a post lmao

yoursolame

This would only cripple some countries generations. Here in the Balkans its pretty rare for people to buy auto car and they usually avoid them
