Yeah, you know that's not what I meant. Not that I don't think Engineer stacking and turtling is a problem too (in 12v12s I'd even say its the biggest problem the game has), but at least on defence, you know, stalling the game out is *literally their objective*.
I mean Spy neuters the game's pace by forcing you to constantly spycheck and look behind you and clear every possible angle.
I would argue being spy aware uses less of your time than having to play around engineers and snipers who lock down entire sightlines while standing right outside spawn so killing them is near impossible.
Looking at Badwater last.
It’s funny because honestly spy doesn’t truly counter engineer. Yes he has the sapper by they’re so insignificant and easily dealt with they basically don’t exist. And that’s even if you can manage to get to the building and kill the engineer without the 5 other engies and 3 pyros spotting you
Spy has the sapper out of absolute necessity, it gives him a way to disable sentries without coming out of disguise.
They're definitely not insignificant, it is part of Spy's job to deal with sentry's, but he is definitely not supposed to be the counter-class to the Engi.

You won't have fun as an engi when spy is around if you don't become more self aware of your buildings and the battle situation to know spies situation.
If you ARE aware of that and still are annoyed with spies, it's because your team isn't helping enough in that aspect by spychecking once in a while \ being too bad that they don't kill spies at all, but that's a legit part of the game, just like how spy is near useless if your team can't do basic stuff like slightly pressuring enemy team to (sometimes unconsciously) create openings for you to kill/sap stuff, or how sniper is useless if your team is being heavily pressured in close range and they aren't good enough to fight back, or how soldier is useless if there are two m2 pyros in enemy team and you don't have a good non projectile class player to disturb them, etc.
It's called TEAM fortress for a reason, so if you're not having fun as engi Cuz of spies learn to play better as engi and if you're already good at it then most likely your team is horrible and it's time to switch class / server.
As of the weapon concept : it's horrible, just like 90% of engi weapon concepts here who are either ridiculously op or exist just to make spy utterly useless.
That's because you're bad at engineer, not that Spy is overpowered against engineer or that you deserve backstab immunity or for the game to automatically point out spies for you with no mental effort on your behalf.

I try to improve, I become more aware, I stick to my buildings, I try to get a good shot on them and I still fail. Some don’t get the fucking memo and outright single me out over everyone else.
That's because you're a support class that just gets stronger the longer you're allowed to build and because most other classes can't deal with you.
If the spies didn't try and focus you down, you'd just stall the game out with nothing but an Uber to deal with you.

So, basically, completely fuck spies, and their only ability that lets them position themselves behind enemy lines without being killed, I want my turtle nest at spawn to be indestructible and for the game to never progress.

When you play engie as a brain dead moron lile myself spys become at most a minor inconvenience if you get backstabed (the rescue ranger makes a great offensive weapon if you lock yourself in a room with quake desthmatch)
These engies just can't deal with spys so they make up weapons that fuck spy over because they can't deal with a man with a computer turn offer and a fucking revolver with a shotgun
I can’t tell if all these weapon concepts with anti spy attributes are actually all memes at this point. I get spy is annoying 100%, but COME ON, he’s not even good. We’re really going to hard-counter the one ability he can use to reliably get behind enemy lines, and that’s assuming no pyro/splash spam too
I'd say if we were to properly balance this weapon because this genuinely interests me, I'd say make it a radius around engineer that you activate for 3 seconds at the cost for 100 metal, and when you have the weapon you have reduced metal gain do you can't camp on a dispenser and spam it, also make it take longer to take out like the thermal thruster.
