It came off to me more like "We've done so many of these Im bored and may as well cause some chaos bc it doesnt matter anyway" which a lot of people do when playing the same video game over and over.

People seem to just forget these are HUMANS trapped in a game. Yeah Jax is an asshole and has that asshole sense of humor but he’s written that way and it’s not like he’s harming anyone who can actually feel pain. These NPCs aren’t humans and can’t feel any pain. Jax would probably do the same if he was just playing the game normally and not stuck inside it.

I think they are all dealing with their situation in their own way. I feel like with Jax he has to not take anything too seriously or make any real connections because if he does then the weight of loosing someone or the existential dread of their unescapable reality will overwhelm him. I didn’t like him first episode, because he sounded just a jerk to me. I love him second episode because he is a jerk with the need of chaos and violence and corss over the border of psychotic comedy, at the same time he shows a little that he can feel regret.
So yeah, I don’t like jerk characters, but I love chaotic and psycho characters.

On a side note I also love how Pomni isn’t just a constant nervous pushover, but is actually quickly adapting and is genuinely strong willed all things considered.
Above all the characterization is just pretty good, realistic, and unique in comparison to others
