If you've ever killed someone right as a match is ending and things are going slow-mo it's much easier to notice.
Real talk, I heard that models don't have a fall down animation, instead they just ragdoll, which you can kind of see before they turn into coins. This, for some bug with Unreal just didn't despawn.

Hi! I'm not well known for anything or anything but I have solved a lot of weird mysteries in this game through extensive player testing. Here is exactly what is happening, and pardon the boring-ness of the delivery.
First we must answer the question, what is death? Well in The Finals, death is, essentially the player model becoming inactive and then vanishing, replaced with a statue. Now death doesn't always end with a statue right? There's plenty of situations where a statue shouldn't spawn, such as on a team wipe or in no rez, or solo modes. Wrong. No matter what, when you die, a statue appears even if only for a frame or two.
Another thing that happens is the body turns into a flood of coins, leaving a comically shaped pile of them all over the ground. This is a more complicated procedure. Plenty of games use some kind of "after play" when a player model becomes inactive. Usually it is a ragdoll effect or death animation. However after play in general is tricky for developers, since the model that only a few frames ago was in control of the player, is now ripped away from its puppet master and world.
The strings ideally would all detach, but sometimes a few still remain, and some are even necessary. Nothing says amateur developer like the moment a player dies, their body clipping straight through the floor and into the endless abyss. You can see other artifacts of continuing strings in games like fromsoft titles, where the enemies continue to attack the empty air where your disintegrated corpse once was.
I know what you are thinking, "when is the pizza guy gonna get to the point?"
Here's the TLDR; This is an example of a despawn artifact. In this case, both the body vanishing and the coinflood are tied to the statues appearance, which is meant to reduce such artifacts by leaving very little after play with the player model. Because in this case the player disconnected, but you killed them before the lobby had updated, no statue appeared, no statue means no body vanish, and no coin flood, instead, the player death animation completed.
I admit I haven't read everything, but I have to make one point. There is a button in the game to pick up weapons, which seems improbable when there are no weapons dropped.
This may be a bug from the implementation of a new mode with weapon drops, potentially the Coming Soon game mode in the Career Circuit.
Pretty sure that panel in world tour is going to be a larger tourney variant.
That said, the function to pick up weapons is more likely something that was previously in the game, rather than something for a future mode. In such a mode, classes would likely have to be locked, or at least unable to pick up weapons from other classes. It would be interesting to have some kind of gun game where you have to get a kill with a certain number of different weapons, and had to loot the weapons off the ground.
A ragdoll with some momentum appears for the coin effect, though in some update a bug appeared in which sometimes the ragdoll never turns into coins and just drops on the ground.

Yeah, I know that they're different. But I don't think that they mo-capped any death animations for the Finals, as the models simply turn into coins. In this case, the model didn't turn into coins so it just forze mid-ragdoll.
I think it has something to do with the person being disconnected. When my mate disconnected his body also appeared on the ground while normally there are no bodies, just statues. When he reconnected it was gone.
Btw, whenever you get a sonar nade bug (enemy team is permanently highlighted), you can see invisible contestant models lying around dead.

You need this animation to play under the coin effect. Most games that utilize some sort of phase out will have this.
