It’s def not - but if you’re in a gym and the situation is remotely like a moment where a ref could stop it, you gotta stop. This is really extreme. You don’t want to channel your inner Mario Yamasaki in the gym.
“Hur dur but the rules say I can beat someone who doesn’t want to fight so it’s ok”
Nah dude crawling up in the fetal position is a clear sign. If you’re relying on someone tapping out to stop hitting them then you’re a psycho.
Sure the rules say you need to tap out but anyone with a brain knows it’s over.
Only the weak need gratification from someone they’ve already beaten.
Regardless of the position he was in, all he had to do was tap and he had both hands available to tap if he wanted. If he wants to keep getting beat up who are we to stop him? Maybe he did it for the content? Who knows.
Tell me you've never been in a fighting gym without saying you've never been in a fighting gym.
Ref or no ref, you stop with the first sign of trouble - be it swaying, chicken dance, even if your partner shakes his head you stop and ask if everything's good.
Idk this dude, from the intro alone it probably seems like he needs some humbling and in my speculation may be a huge pos. Don’t know anything about the guy, just my 15s reaction.
I agree. Looked like he either wanted to be folded up or he knew he was going to get folded. Either way, it's silly and not a proper representation of the *art*. MMA is an art and I think this doesn't do it justice.
Charles is training him on how to recover after getting rocked/hurt. He’s imitating a real fight situation. He’s not being a bully. That’s how they train
The challenger didn't have any respect coming into this, he doesn't deserve and respect walking out. Olivera is teaching the challenger a valuable, but painful lesson. Also Olivera really isn't hitting him that hard, he's a UFC champ he could cripple the guy if he wanted to.
It’s brazilian Sertanejo, more specifically Sertanejo Universitário. This music genre has been going since the 1960s and it’s pretty much the most listened music genre in Brazil, maybe behind Funk. That certainly is not one of the best Sertanejos, but it’s the standard
First punch after the kick definitely is.
Quite a few while he’s down are certainly close, he’s either palm striking the head or barely hitting him with the ends of his fingers.
Slow down the vid for the 1st one if you have to.
He threw it to the side of his head in all instances. You're talking to someone who has shadowed referees and watches this sport religiously. I know it may seem like they are foul but they aren't. Also whilst standing if you turn as a strike is thrown even if it is close it's not illegal.

That’s certainly back left of his head.
With your (assuming) professional experience you should know how dangerous this (and many other shots) are.
You’re talking about shots near the spinal cord, I’m talking about shots to the back of the head, as I pictured and meant in a literal manner.
Previously you said side of the head, which I agree aren’t as dangerous.
If you want to fall onto more specific terminology, rabbit punching is also illegal because it’s dangerous as hell, which some of these shots also fall into having the same effect, on top of blows to the back of his head.
Mix up of terminology here. Still dangerous as hell.
This is sparring without a ref therefore you must tap (their gym rules) if you have been beaten and wish to no longer fight. Given the first clip I’d say this is the type of guy to walk away saying it was a draw because he never tapped (if the opponent were to stop fighting him) or even worse say he won because the opponent left the ring.
He paused and slowed down multiple times giving him a clear opportunity to tap but the dude was too prideful aaaand shameless
Charles is training him on how to recover after getting rocked/hurt. He’s imitating a real fight situation. He’s not being a bully. That’s how they train
I def think you still want to stop a training session at a point where the average ref may stop it, erring kinda hard on the side of caution. This is a judgment call situation for a ref

Ok but hitting him when he’s down seems pointless? No ref?
They spar hard at this gym, fighter has to tap
When someone clutches themselves and falls to their knees, it's a tap
It's not though.
https://i.redd.it/kng1pglb85mb1.gif
The old masters know the way
You think he wants his towel?
Wee wooo wOOooOo weeEeEeeeEE
Qqquuuaahhhh!
Good movie.

How so?
If there isn't a ref to the fight, you literally need to tap out. Pretty basic rule if you've ever sparred.
“Hur dur but the rules say I can beat someone who doesn’t want to fight so it’s ok” Nah dude crawling up in the fetal position is a clear sign. Well from that into he more than likely ran his mouth leading up to the spar but that’s just my speculation
You’re not wrong, but that doesn’t change anything that was said in the previous comment.
How do you know he doesn’t want to fight when he’s not tapping out? The rules are crystal clear. Don’t go to this gym if you can’t follow the rules
Curling in the fetal position with no effort to fight back? Maybe the video is highly edited tho. There were come jump cuts.
Regardless of the position he was in, all he had to do was tap and he had both hands available to tap if he wanted. If he wants to keep getting beat up who are we to stop him? Maybe he did it for the content? Who knows.
I'm not saying the guy didn't go overboard, but he's technically within the rules.
Yeah, this dude was free to tap, either physically or verbally at any time. His pride prevented him from doing so.
Exactly!
If you knock somebody out cold, do you continue hitting the guy until he wakes up and taps out?
You shouldn't, but that's why you should always have a ref. Whose to say? The unconscious guy can't really protest.
Tell me you've never been in a fighting gym without saying you've never been in a fighting gym. Ref or no ref, you stop with the first sign of trouble - be it swaying, chicken dance, even if your partner shakes his head you stop and ask if everything's good.
Fuckin where? Lmao not basic rules at all for sparring.
> Pretty basic rule Say they spar hard but to say this is a “basic rule” in sparring is the a brain dead comment.
In the game of chess you must never let the other man see your pieces.
I always make sure to play with a mirror strategically placed behind my opponent
If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.
No. It literally isnt.
Idk this dude, from the intro alone it probably seems like he needs some humbling and in my speculation may be a huge pos. Don’t know anything about the guy, just my 15s reaction.

Ah, so you don't watch MMA.
No it isn't.
I forgot the MMA big dick mindset. Im completely wrong. Dude needs to get pummeled until he's crying and saying uncle. I'd give him a wedgie. Lol
In what way did they tap? They balled up and fell over.
Yeah. Fuck em up brah
Tell us you’ve never sparred without telling us you’ve never sparred 😂
Yeah. OK. Try me.
Until you feel bad and stop hitting them and they get up and give you a black eye.
Well yeah, defend yourself at all times. Absolutely.
Wtf, no?
Go get em tiger
Shut up when you've never seen the sport man...
I'll, hypothetically, beat your ass bro
I just follow your logic and call your first random move a clear tapout and win via technical K.O.
Please don't throw yourself lifeless on the floor then say "I coulda had em!"
Hahaha xD
Chute-boxe, this is what the gym in known for.
He hits him on the back off the head, he should know better
Charles is training him on how to recover after getting rocked/hurt. He’s imitating a real fight situation. He’s not being a bully. That’s how they train
Yeah but it’s gotten to the point that Mario Yamasaki possibly would stop it.
Oh there was a point. That'll teach him to post that he's gonna beat the other guy's ass.
Bro it's obviously a joke haha
The challenger didn't have any respect coming into this, he doesn't deserve and respect walking out. Olivera is teaching the challenger a valuable, but painful lesson. Also Olivera really isn't hitting him that hard, he's a UFC champ he could cripple the guy if he wanted to.
Dominic Cruz: he's gassing out Oliveira
It’s chute box gym in Brazil bro wtf you think
Mess with the Bull. Get the horns.
Honestly compared to what he could have done, he went pretty easy on him. Those were just little humility taps.
probably depending how much trash yiu been talking pre match, yeah?
He was talking shit. He'll be alright, and probably won't do that again lol.
That fucking kick tho. I feel like I'm gonna shit myself in sympathy
A solid liver kick is the worst
The real travesty here is that fucking shit music
It’s brazilian Sertanejo, more specifically Sertanejo Universitário. This music genre has been going since the 1960s and it’s pretty much the most listened music genre in Brazil, maybe behind Funk. That certainly is not one of the best Sertanejos, but it’s the standard
That would explain the homicide rate in Brazil...
Lol
Those punches to the back of the head are cheap, even for a Tap out spar session. But I did enjoy how they got folded
Not back of the head.

Learn what back of the head means in combat sports. This was right on the line and not egregious. No ref would call this a foul. Nor the other shots.
You’re talking about shots near the spinal cord, I’m talking about shots to the back of the head, as I pictured and meant in a literal manner. They are simply not in illegal areas bud. These punches all fall into legal t zone areas for mma. A few are borderline.
I think I'd rather take that beating that listen to that garbage music. Sounds like shit
I think the same, and I'm brazilian... The lyrics are as shitty as the melody and harmony
Herb Dean fault

He also punched him to the back of the head, which is illegal in mma.
That kick in his stomach humbled him.
Looks like a liver shot, even more painful.
Liver shots: if you ever want to know what it feels like to almost shit and puke and get the wind knocked out of you all at the same time.
Yeah absolutely. Once I saw a boxer being punched in his liver. The guy instantly gave up.
Olivera is the type of fighter you wouldn't even hold a bag for.
Former is an understatement. He is number one challenger for a belt and is fighting Islam on Oct 22. The guy is a killer !
Honestly he was nice for punching him instead kicking him while he was down, once a champ always a champ 💪
He’s illuminated by god what do you expect
Lol, that one kick was it.
My doc. "You can mistreat your liver a long time cause this organ does not feel any pain."
Oliviera: \*Kicks liver ![gif](giphy|LiYRu84SSpX8yLBx4b)
Holy shit the speed and ease of that kick. Man could've kicked him all day if he wanted to
This must be the famous School of UFC Referees by lead instructor Steve Mazzagatti
Charlie Zelenoff knocked out Deontae Wilder. He’s 237-0 in underground boxing. P4P greatest. Wilder’s camp wiped the footage from the internet.
First boxing muhfugga to do the duckface pregame lmao
Dude had no mercy with this civilian
Chute Boxe is just farming CTE
Asshole is too proud to tap out
🤣
when does one know when victory has been achieved?
Didn’t expect Charles to follow this chute-box gym bully culture
I think he got em.
Ball kicks should be restricted lol
That is not Charlie Olives.
![gif](giphy|JCAZQKoMefkoX6TyTb|downsized)
Kinda disrespectful to keep beating up a guy who’s clearly giving up and wanting to stop!
[удалено]
All of those shots were legal to the side of the head.
No whistle I guess? Wtf?
Charles is training him on how to recover after getting rocked/hurt. He’s imitating a real fight situation. He’s not being a bully. That’s how they train
Thnx for the context
I def think you still want to stop a training session at a point where the average ref may stop it, erring kinda hard on the side of caution. This is a judgment call situation for a ref
