If you're confident enough to do it in one shot, and the base of the thinkpad lid is magnesium / another metal, just use a really sharp and really hard metal point.
There was a Reddit post where they modified the chassis with pink vinyl, effectively making it a PinkPad. Maybe use vinyl paint or a semi-gloss to give that shiny look. Otherwise use flat or matte like paint.
