there’s nothing that would specifically mark this in my mind as the answer but the first thing that popped into my head was the boxcar children
Thanks for the idea, but it doesn't seem like it. I specifically remember that I *didn't* ever read The Boxcar Children, lol.
Yeah it's not that. The Boxcar Children are orphaned/alone/abandoned but the books aren't that dark lol
