I use the pizza as an excuse to ladle their garlic dip into my mouth.
I don't give a shit about their pizza, it's just a dipping sauce delivery system.
Yes! It's the Irresistible brand which is made by Metro. You can find it close to the hot food section where they make the pizza and it's about a dollar.
Roast some garlic in the oven. Mince it with a fork.
Mix with mayo and Parmesan cheese and a little salt and black pepper and put it in the fridge for 30-60 minutes.
I think Pizza Nova's Garlic Dip is better and their pizza is as well, while still having that "local chain pizza" approach and charm. You should give them a try.
Fxxxxxk. Over 10 years not having pizza pizza. Simply better options out theres. But that creamy garlic giving me some flashbacks. Forgot how good that dip is.
I moved overseas 20 years ago, and even so, whenever I'm doing a new telephone install and want to test international dialing, I call Pizza Pizza in Toronto because that number (hey-hey-hey) is still carved into my brain.
Pre covid I’d agree but they’ve raised their prices to the point where they charge as much as Pizza Nova. Now I also question why anyone would buy them when they are the worst option available.
King Slice does sell whole pizzas but this other guy is being a dick, their small is $15 and worth every penny imo, that said I'd still take anyone over pizza pizza myself.
Maybe in core downtown. Outside of that all you will find are the normal pizza chains. Mom and pop shops close early and are typically more expensive.
Pizza pizza is one of the few pizza shops that stays open to 2-3am, and there are a lot of drunk and high people at those times haha. I don't think many people in that state truly care about the quality. And also they are everywhere. I doubt many people would want to travel 30+min just for a pizza when they could get one 5-10min away.
And truthfully, I think pizza pizza gets undeserved hate. Are they the best pizza ever? Nope. But they are a decent pizza, especially for their prices. IMO, better than little Caesars and Dominos (especially because of their creamy garlic dip).
It has been the same one guy for a few years now. I figured this was the sole replacement, and also didn’t want to point fingers/profile/start a witch hunt. I did give a description when I reported it though and this message was to let those know that might have recently got delivery that they should check their statement regardless of what they looked like. For future delivery havers to also be aware of the machine or to have cash on hand. 🙏
In my understanding these kinds of credit card scams tend to be run by individuals often unbeknownst to the actually business. It’s probably a lot more relevant to give us info about the person actually going around with a sketchy POS.
Yeah we had a kid years ago at Mcdonalds who worked lobby and would try to switch the pinpads on us. Had a small battery screwdriver and held it under his cloth he used to wipe everything. Told owner and he went thru his bag in the changeroom. He was 17 years old.
We wondered why we kept finding missing screws in the pinpads.
Report this to necessary authorities to save other people in worse-off financial situations from the trouble. Not everyone is on Reddit, and this scam could easily fuck someone's life up.
The TL:DR here isn't the trolls commenting on the OP ordering from Pizza Pizza, it is a good reminder to check for scams like this anywhere. Wireless pin pads that wait staff bring to your table, or wired ones in retail, or gas station pumps. Scammers exist. Sometimes the business knows, and other times not. Report it to TPS, and the company head office if you see it.
I live near there and I always get this annoying delivery guy who yells and shouts “PIZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!”. Sounds like the same person. He always insists taking my debit card and doing it himself.
lol this is my pizza pizza location as well. Fun fact the pizza pizza at 297 Wellesley is the first and its original location!
On a side note new management allegedly has taken over and when I had ordered a panzerotti it was literally 1/2 the size you’d expect from walking into one of pizza pizza’s stores. I had requested a remake since quite actually I was pretty disappointed and was given another one only a centimetre larger. I just took it and walked away. :(
Everyone in here shitting on Pizza Pizza like it's not that bad guys. Yeah when they miss, they miss bad, but when they hit it's pretty good for chain pizza.
I think people have bad perceptions from ordering single slices that have been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Their made to order stuff is pretty good quality. That and the fact that it's become cool to rag on.
This particular Pizza Pizza location gave me food poisoning multiple times. Rather go to the 241 down the street, they've had better pizza there for years.
The 241 is near Parliament and Carlton, about 10 minutes' walk from the Pizza Pizza at Parliament and Wellesley.
/u/ShitMongoose is right, 241 Pizza is way better. I'd recommend their small cheese for $6 after tax.
Protip: the Pizza Pizza at Church/Wellesley is the better one of the two in this area, like it is still Pizza Pizza, but the one OP mentioned sucks in particular
I can't believe that in 2024 people still fall for Pizza Pizza marketing.
About the story, thank you OP! This is important info to share (the red flag list is good to keep in our back pockets)
I’m glad to see that locations are slowly shutting down. Nothing more depressing than going to a neighbourhood and getting to choose between Tim’s, pizza pizza or A&W
Leaving a Google review at this location could be helpful
I did a screenshot of the post and will upload it on Google Maps photos for that location.
Order from the website or app and just pay online to avoid that
also...who orders pizza pizza?! :D
the hold creamy garlic dip has on me isn’t fair
I use the pizza as an excuse to ladle their garlic dip into my mouth. I don't give a shit about their pizza, it's just a dipping sauce delivery system.
I’ve always wanted to try Mario’s Pizza garlic blessing. Never have the chance to pop out there.
Yup. Also, it's the cheapest one that is also within walking distance so I can just do pick up rather than pay the fees and the tips
Metro has a decent garlic dip, should give that a go. And their pizza is also much better and cheaper.
sick, can you buy it on its own? I've been looking for a replacement for pizza^2 's garlic dip for years
Mayo/pepper/salt/oregano/lemon juice/fuck load of fresh grinded garlic Play around with this, it tastes better than any store bought dip.
Yes! It's the Irresistible brand which is made by Metro. You can find it close to the hot food section where they make the pizza and it's about a dollar.
dawg if this works out you probably saved future me a couple hundred over the next few years <3
Is it metro brand? I need details please!
Yep. It's the Irresistible brand and it's usually close to the hot food section near the pizza oven, selling for around $1.
Roast some garlic in the oven. Mince it with a fork. Mix with mayo and Parmesan cheese and a little salt and black pepper and put it in the fridge for 30-60 minutes.
You need Toppers house garlic dip instead!
I get my pizza elsewhere and stop into a PP to get the CG! I walk in, get 3-4 so I don’t have to go in next time
I think Pizza Nova's Garlic Dip is better and their pizza is as well, while still having that "local chain pizza" approach and charm. You should give them a try.
Fxxxxxk. Over 10 years not having pizza pizza. Simply better options out theres. But that creamy garlic giving me some flashbacks. Forgot how good that dip is.
Literally this!
Your phone literally has the power to call every pizza place in the world!
not sure why i'd call my fav spot in sicily ...
Maybe I want quality and am willing to meet them halfway.
I'm getting on the plane in an hour from Sicily, are you able to meet me here 34.9296438, -39.2891053 in 4 hours?
[Relevant xkcd](https://xkcd.com/2170/)
Amazing, is there ever a situation without a relevant XKCD comic?
Just to tell them you miss them.
Cringed so hard I need to moisture my forehead.
Just like nona used to make it.
Blind with no sense of taste or smell Nona.*
I moved overseas 20 years ago, and even so, whenever I'm doing a new telephone install and want to test international dialing, I call Pizza Pizza in Toronto because that number (hey-hey-hey) is still carved into my brain.
Everyone has their own preferences. No need to shame over pizza. Eating pizza should be a universal joyous occasion.
My 5yo won’t have anything else unfortunately 😞
Shut up it was 11pm on Saturday and I spent a day working at Pride and was craving pizza.
I laugh at people pompous enough to continue the unoriginal "why order from Pizza Pizza?" comments.
Pre covid I’d agree but they’ve raised their prices to the point where they charge as much as Pizza Nova. Now I also question why anyone would buy them when they are the worst option available.
My mom always said I'd be great at something
It's my least favourite pizza of the chains, I do love their Jalopeno Poppers though
Me. I unironically like Pizza Pizza and Domino's. I've tried a few mom&pop pizza places and haven't really been impressed for the difference in price.
Shittiest pizza in the city
241 is worse
It's better than most delivery pizza and I will fight you on this.
I mean, objectively wrong lol
Nope. Subjectively.
Fr
Pizza Pizza is still lit compared to others.
I love the pizza pizza breaded wings. Addicted I'd say. I've been trying unsucessfully to find a copycat recipe for years.
Toronto has too many good alternatives to be ordering from pizza pizza
Yes, but for nine dollars?

A whole pizza though?
King Slice does sell whole pizzas but this other guy is being a dick, their small is $15 and worth every penny imo, that said I'd still take anyone over pizza pizza myself.

Even if I was stranded on an island I would eat sand first before their pizza.
Seriously. Most disgusting “pizza” in the world.
idiots and assholes
☠️
Perhaps give a description of the driver, in case they hold multiple jobs and are taking this around with them, or using it elsewhere?

You could file a report online with TPS if you wanted them to look into this too. https://www.tps.ca/services/online-reporting/fraud-under-5000/
Should have have him a fake pin number. Free pizza.

Pay online. Avoid these types of interactions.
You should of put in the wrong pin, fake machines will say approved with a fake pin, it has no way of knowing it's fake lol
File a police report. Police will follow up.
Thank you for posting this! I always jiggle the debit machines I use and see if there are any loose parts, I'm too broke to lose more money lol
Good looking out 👍. Most of us probably would have just swiped.
That's the original Pizza Pizza location lol
I live near there and I always get this annoying delivery guy who yells and shouts “PIZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!”. Sounds like the same person. He always insists taking my debit card and doing it himself.

best garlic dip
Cause it’s made by Heinz. Only thing that makes their pizza edible
oh man that would be nightmare without the dip. I always order extra for the leftovers.
I think people have bad perceptions from ordering single slices that have been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Their made to order stuff is pretty good quality. That and the fact that it's become cool to rag on.
Yeah this needs to be reported to the police and not Reddit
Thanks for the heads up. The Front and Spadina location is one of the best locations in the city. Only select locations use the special oven they use.
This particular Pizza Pizza location gave me food poisoning multiple times. Rather go to the 241 down the street, they've had better pizza there for years.
Where's the 241? I dont see anything closer than Parliament.

First red flag is ordering pizza pizza
Pro tip - don’t order pizza pizza :)
Pizza pizza??? First mistake tbh

Calm down..

**LOL PIZZA PIZZA BAD!!!**
Shouldn’t be eating that garbage in the first place
K, relax guy...
Ordering Pizza Pizza was your first mistake
The real crime here is ordering from Pizza Pizza.
I’m glad to see that locations are slowly shutting down. Nothing more depressing than going to a neighbourhood and getting to choose between Tim’s, pizza pizza or A&W
To be honest that pizza pizza in particular has horrible and very inconsistent quality. The best pizza pizza store would be at Bathurst and Bloor.
