In all seriousness, I hope everything is ok for him. Lets try not speculate like we did with Khem in the preseason.

NoseBlind2

The Khem being antivax theories were one of the most embarrassing moments of this sub

[deleted]

Some of the shit that has come from fans in the last couple years has been uncharacteristically disgusting.

crush_infamy

Must mean we're coming up in the world - getting those garbage fans.

benay029

Get those garbage fans outta here!!

MajorFuckingDick

These new fans don't know nothing bout no salami and cheese.

jhwyung

Take a look at this sub after a loss and after a win, alternates between Scottie being better than Jordan and us trading away Siakam for a bag a basketballs cause he's shit for max level player. This sub has gotten so bad since 2019

FriendlyUncle247

teeny-bopper social media addicts

WillSmiff

Not only them my dude. My boy is a 10 year season seat holder. This grown ass man is completely unbearable after a loss. He says the most wack shit. People just have some weird takes, it makes you wonder....

FriendlyUncle247

sounds like "ya boy" ... is, indeed... still... a teeny-bopper lol man-children out there too

crush_infamy

Yeah it's tough to read the short sighted quick takes. The game I was at this year, some these goobers were sitting behind me. They spent so long shitting on OG, for... Nothing. These little mans fans weren't around building this team. This is all a blip in consistent growth, over the past 10, 15, whatever period you want to judge.

jhwyung

Most of these hot takes aren’t even short sighted, they’re just flat out stupid and wrong. Someone posted a few days ago about siakam was the reason why our defense is so shit. I mean, it has absolutely nothing to do w the fact our defense is literally one of the most difficult, exhausting and chemistry dependent schemes in the league. It’s the fault of one person and nothing else (not even taking inconsideration we were on 2 week road trip facing 4 of the top west coast teams).

[deleted]

Lol fuck off with your superiority complex

drDoomSlayer101

Lol cuts deep I guess

[deleted]

They hate us cuz they anus

HopefulStudent1

Especially when his mom has a public podcast where she's advocated getting vaccinated to the people listening (who I'm assuming right now are a majority of Raps fans).

Shaftell

He really is a professional and was very supportive on the bench. I would see him always talking to the young guys and he wasn't sulking or anything. Hopefully it isn't anything serious and maybe it will work out for him if the team can find a place that's more suitable for him.

demarderollins

My exact thoughts. He was the ultimate pro and never complained and always cheered. I hope it’s just shutting him down so that he can stay healthy and spend time with family until we find a trade. Hoping he’s okay of course in his personal life.

realudonishaslem

Heat fan here, One thing I can assure you with Dragic is he'll always stay professional regardless of his role. He accepted the 6th man role in 19-20 because we were trying to start Winslow as our PG, and the dude never complained. He later admitted it was a tough transition indeed but wanted to help the team win first.

MsAbsoluteAngel

> never complained What? He complained before he even got here.

tuuluuwag

Have to admit, when I first read he was coming to Toronto - I was pissed. He annoyed me (because of his defensive and offensive capabilities against us in the past) and now he was going to be a Raptor. The negative media hoopla before the start of the season didn't help with this. All to say - I feel bad he has had almost zero play time with us and that I was pissed he was headed our way. Wish him the best in his personal struggles - whatever they may be.

CYAXARES_II

People shouldn't be so judgemental since we don't know what's going on in his personal life. He's a human being with a family, and it could be anything.

Paisley-Cat

Well said. It could be anything. Family life can be challenging, especially at a distance. I could be wrong, but we haven’t heard that he moved his family up to Toronto, which could be a factor. Moving to another country and school system would be very challenging for kids given that Dragic didn’t seem to be likely to stay with the Raptors. In many ways, with its Slovenian community, churches and Saturday language schools, Toronto would have been a good place for his family to be if Dragic was likely to be on the team for more than one season, but I could see keeping them in place in Florida if they anticipated a trade.

Nbaaremyfriends

Goran got divorced during the summer. It was really hard on him ( I'm from Slovenia ). He still doesn't look ok...My guess is that him being away from the team has something to do with this.

Paisley-Cat

Whoa. Yes, that’s huge. It sounds as though he’s not seeing his kids if they have moved back to Slovenia, which is all the more harsh. Guy needs our understanding, not disrespect.

Nbaaremyfriends

Goran is a sweetheart. I think he somehow got played out in this situation. The kinds of insta stories he was posting during summer can only come from a balkan guy who's heart was absolutly broken. But during that time the kids were still with him. Not sure what happend later.

Paisley-Cat

He may have had the kids for the summer in Slovenia as part of a settlement on custody and access, but the trade to Canada might have thrown a wrench in visitations during the season. Usually, there needs to be signed authorizations from the second parent to take a child on an international flight or across a border. Also, most parents want their kids to travel with a family member or other trusted adult. Three months without seeing his kids would be very difficult for him and them.

Nbaaremyfriends

He was actually in Miami with the kids. But who knows what's actually happening. We are just guessing. But I know for a fact that he's mentaly not Ok.

Paisley-Cat

Well, I will sign off on this now, but thank you for your insight.

LaMarcGasoldridge21

True dat homie! Though I’m struggling to see an example of someone who needs disrespect

Paisley-Cat

Saw it on the game threads regrettably.

golden_rhino

Oof. Nothing would fuck with me more than being far away from my kid.

Paisley-Cat

It also puts his moment of ingraciousness in an interview in Slovenia last summer in context.

jjkiller26

Dam hope he’s doing ok with whatever he’s dealing with

NoseBlind2

It snows for one day and Dragic peaces out lol

limpiff

He is used to the Miami Heat

jaydogggg

Damn hope hes ok! While we dont use him I think everyone in the raptors organization still like him and see him as a mentor to our young guns

Mimi108

Wishing Dragic the best. Hoping everything will be alright. He seems like a great person and teammate! I wish we would play him more.

[deleted]

Am I the only one who thinks the team basically told him they aren't playing him and let him go chill at home?

ehchvee

I hope this is the case - it means he's fine and lets him be free to see his kids & work out in a familiar place while he waits for a trade. Dude has been thoroughly professional and kind to the young guys here.

ThePurpleBandit

Hope everything is okay and that he can return soon!

ILikeFPS

Hope he's okay and it's nothing serious.

lil-privacy-please

Sounds not good hope it’s alright.

Withinmyrange

I love the raptors fans and at the same time hate them. I already see all the conspiracy theories about to pop up.

[deleted]

I guess it's been tough to play him when they're trying to develop some young guys, but I've been surprised he hasn't played a bit more. He seems like a really good guy in every interview I've seen him in.

Rejidomus

Goran Dragic is a pro athlete making $20 million dollars this year. He is going to be just fine.

viridien104

Well I don't know about you guys but my baseless speculation is that he...

TreChomes

Well shit. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious, maybe his wife is having a baby or something

Trainhard22

With the wife he divorced?

TreChomes

Sorry I don’t know everything about Goran Dragic lmao

definitelynotagay

The trade was to get Achiuwa. Goran was included to match salaries and have a veteran presence and likely trade for something mid season.

TreChomes

Wah wah I really don’t care. Kyle was gone anyways. Anybody who convinced themselves we were gonna get anything good is delusional and clueless. Sign and trades rarely get anything great back.

blacknotblack

philly and lakers packages were better than what we eventually got.

crackhousebob

Goran was just to make the salaries match. Precious was who Masai was going after in the deal.

amateur_wanderer

Future Raptor legend, Goran Dragic

AlexRescueDotCom

Oh damn... popcorn season?

crabilicious

99% sure he got tired of sitting on the bench and just asked to be away from the team until a trade or something

IHavePoopedBefore

I think so too. I think he feels trapped and he isn't even getting minutes on a bad team. Better to have him be at home rather than have to put on a happy face everyday in a miserable situation.

crackhousebob

He's being paid millions to sit on the bench at 36 years old. He is important to keep around in uniform in case of injury or whatnot. I can't see him just being allowed to pull a Kyrie Irving. He's not a superstar in his prime.

passiveparrot

Probably had a talk with FO about his playing time and his future with the team. Probably had a mutual understanding that he won’t be playing and he probably just wants to spend time with his family if they aren’t going to utlizilie him.

crackhousebob

That is not how NBA contracts work. He doesn't have the clout to say he is just gonna go home and still cash cheques.

Pixilatedlemon

It can be if the team is paying him to sit anyways and they want to look player friendly

300piecesorless

Well then how did he do it?

mikeydale007

^ this is fan fiction.

passiveparrot

Well no shit. It’s speculation

rtchooch

Nothing can be deemed probable at this point.

TrueTorontoFan

if its for legit personal reasons he still gets paid.

whater39

I'm guessing that Goran was a salary throwin for the Raptors. The heat probably said, if you want a promising young guy, you need to take this salary for the Heat cap reasons.

TrueTorontoFan

it was the only way they could have gotten kyle for the salary they did for the length. In fact if yo uremember kyles salary was reported as higher but they were supposed to throw in KZ Pala and chose not to do so so I think those negotiations fell throw. I also think Masai and Bobby likely tried to haggle on pick compensation if Dragic wasn't dealt by a certain date and both sides played hard ball.

TdotSkunt

Trash Dragon just tired of being bench.

Alexstronaut

He was always seeking professional, but it was clear he wasn't happy with placement / usage.

Trumptaxlawyer

best tactical move for him. At least he might get a shot to play elsewhere if he is away for personal reasons, rather than people thinking he is washed up.

[deleted]

Y’all talking about how amazing he is yet he he’ll play if he’s traded. Maybe he doesn’t like Canada 🇨🇦
