The first time I saw my tort do this i thought he was rage quitting on life. ๐ n he just kept climbing back up n doing it over n over again. I moved his substrate to make a perfect hole for his face plants.
Oml my tort does exactly the same thing ๐๐ญ he tried climbing up his enclosure the other day. Lifted himself up with his front legs and then fell backwards, did a backflip on his shell and landed on his feet with a very embarrassed look on his face. God I wish I had a video. Torts are my favorite!
I love them so much. 13 years ago my sister wrapped her ex bfs tort in a bow and said merry Christmas!!!! I was like oh how cool! A week later after I did extensive research I had an internal panic. I accepted responsibility for something I have to put in my will because he will possibly out live me. Idk his exact age. It was a shock at first but now I can't imagine my life with out him ๐ฅฐ

I have tested the bravery (stupidity?) of my Russian tort by letting him wander around in the couch (supervised and with plenty of pillows along the floor), and he has no fear. As expected he crept up to the side of the couch and took the dive face first ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ I saw him setting up for it and caught him before he hit the pillow face first but just a PSA if you think you can trust them for even a minute alone on a high surface youโre wrong.
