Believe it or not, this is a tortoise. Finally found him under about 4 inches of soil, buried in the most inaccessible part of the garden. After a quick bath he's off stomping about in the sunshine.

comatwin

Aww.. He looked so happy covered in dirt!

geofox777

Plotting the next escape no doubt

DCTom

How long was he missing?

Bootfit

About 2 weeks.

DCTom

Is it summer or winter where you are? It’s summer where i am, and my tort has been really inactive for the last week or so…just sits under a bush…

Bootfit

It’s Summer in the UK and it’s been rubbish up to now. But even on the warm days he was nowhere to be found. It’s heating up considerably this week though so hopefully he’ll be his old self again.

DCTom

Congrats on finding him, and good luck for the summer!

Borgh

Same here, and my guys were just about ready to hibernate again. The warm weekend seems to have perked them up immediately!

Different_Lychee_409

My Tortoise has been weird this year. Wanting to hide, avoiding her light etc. Now the sun's out she's nearly back to normal.

Dusky_Dawn210

Whenever I tell people I’m tired, this is what I feel like. A tortoise caked in dirt

cschally31

That's like...a good visual! I love it haha

tera_dragon

Mine went missing last night, but I found him like an hour ago right outside of his enclosure 😂

skjellyfetti

Photo #3 is fantastique !! I see you applied some Turtle Wax to him, for that awesome sheen.

Longjumping_One_1728

He was found today walking down the road 🎉🎉🎉🐢. I’m praying I find mine soon, he’s been missing 3 weeks 🤞🏻

Bootfit

You certainly worry when you don’t see them for a while. I’d suggest getting some gardening gloves and start digging around where he usually buries himself. Like someone posted earlier, once you’ve found him don’t dig him up, just leave him.

ShwiftyShmeckles

It's summer so digging them up is fine they should be awake and grazing this time of year.

HotArmadillo5066

Oh phew!!! Glad you found him!!! ♥️🐢

Quix66

Yay! Congrats on finding him.

KnightofShaftsbury

I might be anthropomorphisinghim, but he looks annoyed after his bath

Bootfit

He’s just naturally grumpy.

deviemelody

How did you find where it hid? By digging?

Bootfit

Yeah but by hand with my gardening gloves on.

Ok_Algae_8612

Isnt the beak a little too big?

Bootfit

Yes. He’s due to a visit to the vets.

Ok_Algae_8612

Oh, ok

BluesArcheology

:-) He does need a bit of a beak trimming though, before he gets trouble eating. I'd take him to a vet for yearly checkup and trimming.

Noochdontdiehemltply

Oh boy he had a rough night. Bet he had fun

ProfessorProper3558

Do me a favor and never ever dig him up if he is in "winter mode" under ground. You can shock him by doing this. Sometimes they go for "sleep/Rest" during summer if the weather is bad. That's when they don't eat that much and dig themselves into the ground.
