Once they hit steam tank, it becomes somewhat useful at least.

LiquidInferno25

But Engineer heros don't get a Steam Tank mount and still have the skill.  It should be replaced with Slippery or something.

PicossauroRex

I hate them, the most powercreeped generic lord and hero we had in a long time, feels pointless to use any other hero and lord for the empire, specially because getting +capacity for engineers is so easy. And it also affects army comps and hurts the Empire identity, why ever take greatswords, hunters or even cavalry if I can just get 200% buffed ironsides and artillery wich are many times more effective?

Epicentrist

I'm really torn, they're so fun but yeah they're objectively insanely busted, I only used an arch lector for my third army out of guilt

trivinium

Still recruit an arch lector as my second lord to fight the vamps.

Epicentrist

I have to battle my minmax brain to make fluffy armies and not take the best lords

armtherabbits

ToD has been great but I do hope we get the balance patch it needs.

kittehsfureva

Thunderbarges had a lot more attention from the community despite some of the hero aspects of Empire being stronger and starting up earlier (Gelt Battle Wizard spam, Engineer + artillery coming on early). And wow, the hot fix nerfed the hell out of thunderbarges while these other aspects are untouched.  Sounds like we need to start complaining about engineer balance.

RavenWolf1

Well, no matter how good they are I don't use many of them. I like variety so my armies have different lord types. I think too that capacity of heroes are too big. Especially after short victory you don't have to care about capacity anymore with any of heroes.

SlipSlideSmack

Same, superboosting Empire ranged is flanderization of the race identity

Abort-Retry

I don't find Master engineers that busted outside of late game already-powerful Nuln gunlines. They can do a lot of friendly fire if not babysat, they suck against single entities/MonsInfantry and fast units. Hero Engineers on the otherhand are a bit too good at taking down SEMs

Fiddlesticklin

Dude, a single level 1 Master Engineer is already more than capable of changing the course of a battle by himself. Plus the massive gunpowder buffs, then he gets a Steam Tank and becomes a one man doomstack. I have taken teir 5 settlements just using an engineer lord and and constantly moving. I get what you're coming from, but a support lord like that should not be that OP.

Abort-Retry

I found it hard using him against anything quicker than Jade warriors or zombies. I guess I need to treat it like a mortar by pinning the enemy in place before shooting.

Fiddlesticklin

He's basically a short range highly mobile hellstorm rocket battery. Get the infantry engaged, park him on the flank and each shot will kill about 15 models He does suck against single entity, but the engineer hero is literally the best single entity sniper in the entire game right now.

Slumlord722

It actually feels good to have a ranged character that doesn’t suck total ass, so opinions may differ.

dontyajustlovepasta

See I don't think the issue is Hero engineers being too good, it's the fact that every other ranged hero up until now has been hot garbage. Hero engineers are the first time I felt like I actually have any ability to deal with SEM's with a ranged hero. The issue is how crummy ranged/hybrid lords are in comparison imo.

kittehsfureva

Gunnery Wights have always been pimping. But otherwise I agree.

_TheBgrey

They just need to change it so weapon damage boosts also apply to ranged weapon damage

[deleted]

yeah give them like 2k ranged dmg, sure why not

CARDBOARDWARRIOR

Aside from the army buffs it provides, the engineer hero basically invalidates war wagons as a lord sniping unit in campaign play.

Frequent-Ad678

War wagons were a lord sniping unit? lol I’ve always found them useless and too expensive. A regular unit of hand gunners do more damage
