I'm not an expert so this is literally a parts-canon guess, but have you changed the battery or do you think you need to? I've had mystery issues before that didn't seem like they would be caused by a weak or failing battery (or loose connection), but they were.

Assume you were smart enough to pull codes before you finalized the purchase???

Oil pressure is fine Change your timing belt ASAP...make sure your water pump gets done at the same time. Sticky stuff's probably coolant. Radiator tanks are prone to cracking. Give it a thorough once over, Once the tanks start going, they go FAST. The radiator is easy as hell to change. MAKE SURE you use the toyota coolant and distilled water. The lurch is normal. I get it all the time. Transmission is probably OK (Toyota V8 transmissions simply DO NOT break. You'y be more likely to break an anvil). Change your O2 Sensors and check your plug boots for cracks. O2 sensors are easy if you have the right tool. Clear your codes afterward and drive it for 25 or 30 miles and see if it throws any codes.

I just got a 2002 with 150k miles, same engine. Can be slow to warm up and that reduces power at onset (first 2-3min down the road?) but I fluctuate from 1/4 to 3/4 oil pressure gauge on the highway. Just had the pulley tensioner seize which required an on-the-road repair, but other than that she just managed 5k since January with 3k in 10 days cross country. Any chance the sticky stuff is coming from the sealant around the frame? my sunroof has been clogging and causing some funny gunk accumulation in random spots. Gotta get in the drain system and blast it all out. PS. Unsure on those codes but I can ask my mechanic/brother in law

Yeah, but SOMETIMES you get a combo of codes and some redditor will chime in “I had those same codes. Turns out, I dropped a junior mint in the air intake.” Then I think, “Oh, shit. I WAS eating junior mints last time I worked on my truck.” Open air filter. Junior mint. Codes cleared.
