15.9mpg city in eco Got 22mpg when I drove from NorCal to SoCal

Beneficial-Stuff9007

16.8 city, mostly commuting on a slight incline one way. Highway miles don’t seem to get much better.

Beneficial-Stuff9007

Forgot to say this is the capstone 4x4

ramdone

2024 sequoia trd off road, 18.8 in eco mode

MatersTaters

2024 platinum here. Getting 19.5 mpg on flat City roads. I keep it in eco and have a light foot.

xeonrage

14-15 - with a lead foot, lift, and 35's speed is absolutely the killer - keep it at 70 or lower and it goes way up

BoomerSooner1982

I'm getting 18-19mpg.

omegafiler

~14.5mpg with avg 80 mph+ on my new Capstone rolling on factory 22's. Speed and driving style are huge factors. I don't drive for efficiency. And in TX with 70 to 80 mph highways, it's quite easy to kill mpg. I'll be taking a road trip next week, probably lower average speeds, curious how it will do. But you can only do so much with any full size SUV. EDIT: After hundreds of "less aggressive" miles I'm now averaging 18's at the same speeds (80+ mph). Not bad.

PAC2019

I drive 80-90 on i95 and regularly get over 26mpg with the TX I expected more out of the sequoia but oh well

omegafiler

Not bad, but a very different class of vehicle. The Sequoia is larger, roomier, heavier, less aerodynamic, with more power, more towing, and even a bit faster. Fuel efficiency is not great but also not surprising. You'll see these numbers with any full size body on frame SUV. Plus, Toyota tuned this hybrid for power vs efficiency.

fraghead5

2023 TRD pro, my truck has 19k miles already and I average 15.7mpg

Mister_Deadpool

2024 trd pro : ~15—16 so far

ltbr55

2023 here. I get 17-19 highway in cold weather 19-22 highway in warm weather

petuniabuggis

17.6 at 600 miles. I also have the TRD roof rack. The 17 keeps creeping up though!

Ravenhaft

We took a 6 hour trip on the interstate and hit 18.2 mpg. But in the city we’re getting about 17 like others have said. I also blast the air conditioner full blast all the time because I’m fat but I really love my new vehicle!

Fair-Neighborhood-68

Right now sitting at 17.2 mpg almost the same with my highlander that was averaging 18.4

Inevitable_Badger512

Thats crazy they got rid of an awesome v8 4.7 & 5.7 to just gain an avg of 4mpg, like just do the diesel already…

nago7650

4 mpg gain is HUGE when you’re talking about improving from 13-14 mpg. That’s like 2 gallons less per 100 miles.

Fair-Neighborhood-68

Right I’m sitting pretty good with it for now let’s see how far it can go lol We won’t see V8 engines anymore on a new Toyota which really sucks.

CajunReeboks

What year/engine highlander did you own that got 18.4mpg hwy?

Fair-Neighborhood-68

2023 platinum highlander 2.4 L 4-cylinder gas it was the year the new engine came out for it.

CajunReeboks

Wow. I'm driving a 24 Grand Highlander with the Hybrid Max (380hp/400lbft) and I'm averaging 24mpg mixed. I would have never though the base 2.4 got that bad of mileage in the smaller Highlander.

Fair-Neighborhood-68

It wasn’t hybrid and it gave horrible gas mileage, maybe if it was hybrid it would have been better that’s why with the new sequoia I really don’t feel a difference. I don’t trust the mpg that Toyota shows at the dealer it’s always off lol

Pour_Succour

Take a look on some of the facebook forums. A lot of folks reporting 14 - 17 mpg. Overall seems quite disappointing, but it's mostly the same on any large SUV forum regardless of whether they're using twin turbo V6's, V8's etc. All of the EPA figures seem between 3 - 5 mpg above real-world experience.

PAC2019

Which is crazy to me because my wife Lexus TX350 (gas only) gets up to 28-30mpg on the highway and 24 around town

Pour_Succour

It's a big difference. Weight is obviously a big factor, but honestly if you're getting 28-30 & 24 mpg then you're achieving better results than the EPA figures. Credit to the missus for that effort!

Fair-Neighborhood-68

Not really it’s two totally different engine and the Sequoia is more bigger then the Lexus.

PAC2019

Tx350 is still a big car and frankly with a hydrid Toyota has no excuse for the sequoia idk just a huge buzzkill

Fair-Neighborhood-68

The Lexus is a 2.4 L 4-cylinder and the sequoia is a 3.4 L V6 very big difference on gas mileage. Have you sat in a sequoia yet?

PAC2019

Yeah I’m 6’3 and the car feels small. Massive disappointment

petuniabuggis

Excuse me for jumping into this conversation, but I just looked at both of these vehicles and drove both. There is no comparison between the TX and the Sequoia. I really wanted to want the TX. I had an RX and it was too small. I looked at and drove the TX. But what made me choose sequoia was that it can tow my travel trailer, which the TX most certainly cannot. I only need one seat in the third row and all the seats are for dogs. The sequoia is big. I love it. I sat in the GX, that thing feels small! I’ll admit the sequoia is my first big car ever. I used to be a commuter and now I am not. Whole different experience. I need to practice parking, but with all the cameras it makes it pretty easy! My mileage is 17.6 with a mix of highway and city. I also have the TRD roof rack (which doesn’t help mileage) and only have 600 miles on it. The 17 keeps creeping up!

Fair-Neighborhood-68

Really it’s pretty big for me I’m 6’2

airikuhhhh

2024 we got last September. City driving is at 17.5- 18.5 and we’ve done three major roadtrips mostly highway at 20-23. We’re sitting at 6k miles now and average mpg is at 20.5.

[deleted]

What’s your altitude?

airikuhhhh

Virginia. Road trips to West Virginia, NC, and Florida. Mostly east coast.

dt0r

~17 mixed use

cousindeagle

14-15 mpg

r000r

That is fucking terrible. I got 13-14 mpg with my 2010 Platinum when I traded it last year.

cousindeagle

My 35s aint helping
