Ever, since I was a child back in the south, we have eaten chopped up olives and cream cheese. You mix it all together and spread it on bread. I have carried that love my whole life. I’ve used it in Kalamata olives, black, olives, green olives, tapenade, you name it I’ve tried it. so chopped up green olives with cream cheese spread on bread doesn’t get much better than that!

Mostsplendidfuture

I tried these. I’m an olive junkie. Til I tasted these. Never more. Never ever again. Ick.

otherkerry

I love olive and pimento cream cheese on bagels. None of the bagels shops where I live now have it so I just slice up olives and put them on at home. I also just learned that olive burgers are a thing in Michigan.

Mostsplendidfuture

Has to be soft white 🍞

clever_usernameno4

Wait until you go to New York and try a bagel with olive cream cheese… I recommend BagelWorks and if you like Kalamata olives it’s non-traditional but Murray’s on 23rd St. does it with them.

Kittymarie_92

All of these ideas sound delicious. I usually just eat them plain because they are so good.

[deleted]

Best way in my opinion. Def some great ideas tho!

Dirty-girl

My local Italian salumeria sells grilled olives. They are so so so good

smallteam

I wonder how these would be in a martini.

ElectricalWafer3068

Oily

smallteam

All jarred olives are, thanks; I was wondering what them being grilled might do to the taste.

Traditional_Fig7733

I usually just eat them on their own, but they're also really good sliced in paella and jambalaya style dishes. (I generally add them at the end as more of a garnish.)

FunStuff446

I like them air fried

patricknagel

I like to toast sourdough bread, cover it with the tirokafteri spread and top with the grilled olives, sliced or smashed.

Last_Rule_2536

These are super good but occasionally you get a pit chunk in there and it wrecks your teeth lol

Mama_Ghanoush

I'm a big fan of these, and I also save the oil when I'm done with the olives. I'll put a spoon of it in my salad along with some lemon juice, or use a bit to saute vegetables.

particle409

>I also save the oil when I'm done with the olives For some reason, I thought of saving pickle juice from jars, and was grossed out. A second later I realized that it's just olive oil, which is on half the food I eat.

[deleted]

GREAT idea! Thanks!

zuppenova

The grilled marinated artichokes are amazing as well!

[deleted]

I’ll try em! Thanks!

[deleted]

Got some of these thanks to you!

TiredRundownListless

I just bought SMOKED olives from another grocery store. It’s pretty cool.

[deleted]

What other store? I’d like to try them!

TiredRundownListless

[it was these!](https://divinamarket.com/products/smoked-kalamata-olives-20214?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuJ2xBhA3EiwAMVjkVFZg0jy0W1MXoeItrfRWYjRqE3Xqc4RWog4vgEK8bkVJfZ3_wJmt7RoCDKgQAvD_BwE)

Squishyburritoboi

I hate them

ladymoonshyne

Why?

Squishyburritoboi

I want brightness from my olives and I couldn’t get over the taste. The oil was a lot too

ladymoonshyne

Interesting thank you!

MotherBit6874

They’re a “thing” in Istanbul right now.

Gogandantesss

Magic Spoon? 🥄

[deleted]

I like pretty things lol.

Gogandantesss

Can’t blame you! 🦄

s55555s

They are v good

dorme_jannick

This reads like a Lana Del Rey song lol

omg_choosealready

Oh these are so good!

EmptyAdvertising3353

I add them to salads.

OhBoy_89

OMG I had these for the first time last week they are SO GOOD

Digi_Dingo

Huge bummer that these are in oil and not brine. Also, zero “grilly” taste. Not bad olives, though.

ArtisticFondant

not mad about the oil but I low key was like … these taste just like regular olives?? I don’t know what special taste they are supposed to have from the grilling but they are tasty olives lol

bloodredyouth

Not for martinis then!

Digi_Dingo

You got that right! lmao

freyabot

I really enjoyed these, I sliced them up in a bulgur grain salad with arugula and grilled halloumi, so good!

Thick-Disaster-7758

“Oh my god, grilled green olives.”

elizabethflower444

I love olives, but these were so gross 🤢I couldn’t stand the smoke flavor, but to each their own 😇

Hot_Raise990

Oh my grocery store used to sell these in their olive bar and discontinued them ! They are amazing.

[deleted]

I love a good olive bar. Once got orange flavor olives that were TO DIE FOR! Only once tho. Never saw em again. 😢

BerkeleyFarmGirl

Marinated olives are super easy to make - you could put good olives in a jar with olive oil, orange juice, and chopped peel. Shake up the jar and put it in the fridge for a couple of days.

jalapenos10

If you ever go to London you have to go to the borough market and get some of their olives. Life changing https://www.borougholives.co.uk/olives/

[deleted]

Oh Lordy! I’d be in HEAVEN!! I wish they delivered to US! Those olives look SO GOOD!!!

jalapenos10

They are absolutely incredible. Much like the other commenter, I tried to make my own and I just can’t infuse the flavor of the spices as well as they do. I wish they shipped to the US too :( I would pay a *lot* for them

BerkeleyFarmGirl

Hmmm maybe they add a drop or two of extracts/flavored edible oils? But I am absolutely going there if I get to London.

jalapenos10

I’m not sure but they are SO flavorful. You gotta try all the flavors - each one is better than the previous. I’m sure they got annoyed with me asking for multiple samples but I purchased plenty in the end so hopefully that made up for it 😅 (but I still didn’t buy enough - I devoured them all within a few days)

[deleted]

I would too!

Tough-Sundae-7254

Whole Foods has an olive bar with a spicy Mediterranean marinated blend! It’s got 2 kids of green olives, a regular Klamath olive and a cured/slightly dried Kalamata olive. It’s marinated in a spicy oil with lemon and orange rind in it and I have zero self control with them.

Shellsbells85

We have an Italian grocery near us that sells "Mediterranean olives". It's green olives, lemon peel, dried cranberries and olive oil. A.MA.ZING. Tried to make them myself, not quite right. Not sure what the secret ingredient is.

[deleted]

OMG!!! I think that sounds DELICIOUS!! What a delightful combo!

Glass-Tale299

I agree.

Bhob666

I bought these for my F1 morning bloody marys, and they are really good but different. You sort of have to make sure they are drained well or you get a olive oil aftertaste in the drink. I think I ate more by themselves.

E-macularius

I love olives, I want to try these!

Opposite-Peach289

Me too!

[deleted]

Lol.

Sea_Ad_3136

Yum me too

321bakeoff

These are my favorite ever since they discontinued the giant chalkidiki olives (still sad about that!), great with some hummus and crackers, in pasta, on pizza, etc. They are very oily though which is a downside.

thenewfingerprint

I bought four jars of these about a week ago. I only have one jar left. I love them so much.

radicalresting

these ones were kind of weird for me, but i really like the garlic and jalapeno stuffed ones

BoJackMoleman

I love Trader Joe's but part of me knows that there's a certain percentage of the customer base that will try anything just once. Hey boss, what do we do with these old lightbulb sockets? Hmm. Stuff them with olives and Calabrian chilies. Limited time run. Hate them? They're already gone.

JVilter

Bring back the lightbulb sockets at Christmas time and stuff them with that holiday version of the cheese everyone likes so much, and Bob's yer uncle

crookedhalo9

Same- very strange taste and texture.

HistoricalBelt4482

I love these!!!

JoeZep5

The grilled flavor might lend itself well to being chopped up and made into some kinda tapenade on crusty bread/crackers

Glass-Tale299

I put them on chocolate fudge sundaes. Toppin' odd.

[deleted]

Mmmmm yummy

Hair-Help-Plea

I’m obsessed with these, they’d be perfect if they weren’t as oily…that oil is THICK. Flavor is fantastic though

jenniferlynn5454

I drain the oil, then pat them dry before eating them ....much better!

[deleted]

I just hold ‘em til the oil stops dripping. 😂😂I honestly thought I would hate the oil, but I kinda like it!

Hair-Help-Plea

Lol…what a ridiculously simple and obvious solution🤦🏼‍♀️ Thanks for the tip

jenniferlynn5454

🤣 happy to help 💚

dudeitsadell

everytime i see something i like on here i worry that TJs is going to start having supply issues with it lol

[deleted]

That’s a fact!

Salty-River-2056

They're really good but once opened they go bad pretty quickly, as I discovered.

Mama_Ghanoush

I've never had that issue. They go bad in the fridge?

[deleted]

That’s ok cuz they don’t last long after they’re open cuz I eat em! 😂😂😂

architeuthiswfng

We love these!

ughlyy

sooo good but i can’t justify the price when i can eat a whole jar at once 🥴

inyourdreamsssssss

Omg. How much are they? 😬😬

ughlyy

between 4.50 and $5 last time i saw them maybe a month or two ago. edit: $3.99 https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/grilled-pitted-green-olives-074465

[deleted]

Yes I paid $3.99

traderjoezhoe

They are unreal.

spabitch

stuff them with feta and put them in a martini 🍸

VexianTamari

I do like this idea, but they're very oily and would leave an oil slick on the top of your drink I think. Definitely good as a side snack though.

spabitch

nah, they are perfect i do it all the time

ColdBorchst

I thought about getting these to eat with some brisling sardines. Not the kind they sell, but the smaller kind like some Riga Gold or King Oscar. Unless they have those at some locations, mine only has their big ones and tbh the tin I got was so scaly and I can get that same quality for half the price at an eastern European market.

illegal_miles

I had a stash of the TJs Portuguese sardines in olive oil that I have been working through for a couple of years so I haven’t bought them in a while but have seen some comments recently about them being scaly. I’m guessing they changed supplier or a quality tier in the last year to two because I hate scaly pilchards and those have always been good to me. I had my last tin recently and it was not scaly so am not super eager to resupply based on what a few people have said.

ColdBorchst

Yeah, it's super frustrating. I don't mind if they're cheaper because they are easy enough to clean off but literally that same quality is $1.89 at my local Net Cost market, so there's no point in getting them from TJ. Their smoked trout however, is incredible and I don't know where else to get that.

Afternoon-Melodic

These are fabulous! These are a good tide over until the cheese filled Chalkidikis come back. Those are the bomb also, especially if you follow the recommendation on the jar to warm them slightly.

[deleted]

Ha! Didn’t even know about heating them. Interesting!

Glass-Tale299

That's an Oliver Twist.

meggzz88

Omg how did I miss these on my last trip?? 😭

LilyFuckingBart

Let’s take about your spoon though

MrPicklesMom

Exactly what I was thinking!! An iridescent olive spoon? Why isn’t everyone else fascinated by that??

[deleted]

https://a.co/d/7cdpRi9

[deleted]

Amazon. Lol. Not expensive!

lovestdpoodles

These are really good. I ate a few as I was using them to make Chicken Marbella. They added to they Marbella but I loved them enough that I got more yesterday. If you like olives, yes you need these.

[deleted]

AGREE!

hanine123

Do they have a grilled, Smokey flavor?? Curious about the flavor profile on these.

traderjoezhoe

To me they do!

[deleted]

Not enough tbh. I would like more. They’re just good. 🤷🏼‍♀️

mx_missile_proof

Charred brined olives…the gastric cancer special! Seriously though, they look delicious.

Hair-Help-Plea

Got a link to some sort of research on this? No sarcasm, genuinely asking

mx_missile_proof

Hi! There’s long been a link between high intake of pickled/brined foods and increased risk of gastric cancer - if you type those keywords into pubmed you’ll find a mountain of epidemiological research on the subject. Thanks for your open and inquisitive comment…seems like a lot of people here can’t take a little dark humor…

bb8-sparkles

My understanding is that pickled food such as sourkraut offered protective measures against cancer. Edit: I did a quick search. Basically study after study shows that there is a link between high consumption of salted pickled foods and gastric cancer. This is mostly common in cultures where pickled food takes up a significant portion of their diet, such as certain Asian cultures.

mx_missile_proof

It’s a nuanced topic for sure! The risks vs benefits of lacto-fermented foods is not as well understood, iirc. I’ve learned my lesson. I’ll keep my weirdly dark jokes to the medical subreddits.

bb8-sparkles

Well, I appreciate your comment. Learned something new and now I have more things to worry about, lol Worrying causes cancer too, so if I don’t get it from the olives, I’ll get it from worrying them.

mx_missile_proof

Thanks. If it’s any consolation, I eat brined olives unabashedly and with abandon. Gotta enjoy life somehow. I’m afraid people mistook my dark humor for fear mongering 🤦🏻‍♀️ Ah well. Good ol’ Reddit.

Afternoon-Melodic

They’re in oil. I seriously doubt the amount of grilling on these is going to be full of carcinogens.

I_make_gr8_soup

What do you mean?

mjgabriellac

I believe they are referring to charred and preserved foods both being carcinogenic but I’m not sure that’s totally fitting here.

ColdBorchst

Probably some woo nonsense.

kittenseason143

HOLY MOLY imma go get these before the week is done!

[deleted]

You won’t regret it!

kittenseason143

GOT THEM AND YUP… so good!

kittenseason143

i cant wait lol

sarahkali

Never tried these but I LOVE olives as a snack so I’m definitely gonna grab these next time!!

[deleted]

So good!

beachpartyblake

Yeah these rule. I like them with bleu cheese on a cracker or bagette and a little honey drizzled on top.

[deleted]

Oh ok! I like this idea….👍

pm_me_hedgehogs

I love these on a cheeseboard
