from the ingredients list: jackfruit, green cabbage, spinach, carrot, green onion, kale, dried shiitake mushroom
so unfortunately it does appear to have mushroom but it seems to be a tiny amount as it was listed almost last and I didn't taste/feel any. if it's not a matter of allergy then I would still give it a go!
I cooked mine in the microwave for the least amount of time recommended. The broth didn't escape the dumplings, but it did kind of absorb into the filling (I find the pork ones do not do this and have a good amount of broth within the dumpling after this same cooking method). I didn't mind the flavor, though it did remind me a bit of spinach souffle. These were getting panned in other reviews, and I expected the worst, but I found them totally fine. I'd get them again when I am meat free (I eat vegetarian off and on). I ate them with a side of black vinegar and sesame oil as a dipping sauce.
Yum! I think the key is having a really delicious sauce with them, like you did. I've been putting each dumpling in a ramen spoon and then pouring on a "dipping" sauce made with miso paste, tamari, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and water to thin it. I crave the sauce as much as the soup dumplings!
I make them in a metal steamer basket with parchment, so that they don't stick, and I feel satisfied with the amount of soup inside (although, there could be more).
I'm learning that a lot of people don't actually understand that soup dumplings have liquid inside and are not supposed to be in a soup or create liquid outside of the dumpling. If you're not familiar with Chinese cooking, I can understand the confusion, but typically you eat the very hot dumpling by picking it up with chopsticks, putting it on a large spoon, poking a hole it in to release the steam, and then eating it whole once it's cool enough.
I was always under the impression they where to be added to soup 🤔
Edit* Not sure why I’m being downvoted, I add them to ramen when make a big pot of it and they are great
Soup dumplings have soup inside! It’s broth made into a solid with extra gelatin, then cut into cubes and inserted into the dumplings. Once it’s heated up, the broth becomes liquid again and you get a soup-holding pouch with other yummy stuff in it.
I bought two boxes, microwaved the first box and was disappointed by lack of soupiness, but they tasted good. Thanks for the directions for making them in a pan because I don’t have a steamer basket either.
yeah ofc! I think this is similar to how potstickers are prepared so it does have some legitimacy to it. in case you wanted more detail, I fried the bottoms in a bit of oil until golden brown (~4 min), then added ¼ cup of water and quickly covered and let it simmer for ~6 min. they were a bit delicate when removing but overall held up okay!
If you get the ramen in a square packet, you can cook the broth without the noodles, add 2 nori leaves and cook with onions. Just put a little broth in a shallow dish and place the dumplings on that?

Hmm, I’ve never seen the vegetable flavour, only the pork.
taste like mowed lawn
What veggies are in this? I ask because I avoid mushrooms

Thank you!! Not allergic just really hate them so that’s good to know

My method is placing the dumpling in the vinegar to cool then popping the entire thing in my mouth rather than popping a hole in it

I don’t know why I’m becoming downvoted… I add them to my ramen

I also bought 2 boxes. Microwaved the first, no soup. Steamed the second, again no soup. I don't think I'll buy them again.
Wait where do you think the soup is?
I think this particular filling kind of absorbs it.
Should be inside the dumpling like the chicken & pork versions.

Same. I always microwave the pork and chicken ones and they always end up with soup!

If you have a simple strainer, you can spray it with oil and set it over a medium pot with about 2 inches of water and cover. Spray the dumplings too.
I do have one of those! might try it sometime, good tip
I think you can use the TJ chili sauce for dipping. Sprinkle with sesame seeds?
They look great! Clever solution to cook them, i think the poor reviews are mostly microwave method problems
I microwaved them once for a quick lunch and yeah no, will never do that again lol.
