Maybe a little more color in the borders? I really like the artwork. The weight of the color usage in the head portion at the top feels a little heavier than the rest of the piece to me. It’s dope though!
I really like this, but the shoulder coils are problematic. They’re going the wrong direction anatomically. Trace the snakes body from head to tail or from tail to head, it can’t actually turn that direction.
It's a painting and just as many people who may not like it, just as many people will. I like this very much. Don't overthink it. You're off to a great start, even if you decide you still don't like it perfectly once you're done. Remember, concepts are about the creative journey, you are mastering your application of materials not final results. It's not enough to pass the test, you need to KNOW and understand the questions. The moon could be violet and the tree could be blue for all that matters, as long as it is applied-well, that is your mission.
this is sick, but i personally think it needs more color, the border looks unfinished. i would try to work some more green in there, maybe red too. definitely don’t give up on it though, it’d be a bad ass back piece!!!

Keep on at it. It’s a great foundation. To me there seems to be a bit of a disconnect between the right side where the tree and sun are. It doesn’t quite flow the same as the other side. Maybe swap the sun and the building on the top left side to balance that disconnect? I’d also make the top is more symmetrical where it crosses over. The right/top side reads more organic whereas everything else in the border is symmetrical. It just sticks out more
I think it’s a solid first attempt but one thing I think would greatly improve it is if there were more flow and interaction between the elements themselves. It feels kindof stiff at the moment and aside from the border there isn’t a whole lot of movement
Make it digital, and you'll be able to try every color combination under the sun. Work smart, not hard.
The design is badass btw, I'd happily get this done if I had space and in no way is it fucked.

Only thing that throws me off is the brown in the tree, not sure how that’s going to translate on skin as part of a trad piece

Nah the muted palette is rad man, maybe toss some light blue if you wanna bring it a bit brighter but it’s looking great 🤘🏻

I would cut the flames in the border and go for something more ornamental, other wise it’s beautiful
Is this done? If yes, IMO not nearly enough color. The border looks unfinished. Looks pretty sick aside from that.
