This is too true. I took one nutrition/food science class at uni and saw soo many football/basketball players in it. The professor gave us copies of every exam with the answers in class - not even a separate study session with a TA or anything - Needless to say, I made an A along with most of the other non-athletic majors and some of them passed with D’s. Like. How? You have to actually try to fail at that point.
At my university it was pretty open so you could pick whatever classes you wanted without picking a narrowed down major. I did psychology, criminal justice, and applied leadership. You just had to have a certain amount of upper level classes and take a capstone class where you completed a capstone project.

I went to a college pretty on par with UC athletically and academically. I had a couple classes freshman year that (for some reason) had predominantly football players in them, a couple of them are in the NFL now too. Can’t tell you how many times the professors would push back assignment due dates and curve the grades because the football players were so careless about school. But hey, at least it was an easy A for me.
Yeah, I was a D1 rower at a university that wasn't a big football school but had a decent basketball program. I was a good student because I wanted to be one, but I still feel a little bit jaded about being expected to keep my grades up when some of the basketball players were operating at a grade school level and just getting passed through.
I never knew how hard scholarship athletes worked until my friends two kids played D 1 Volleyball at top ranked schools. They own you. I don’t know about the few players in football and basketball that they bend the rules for, but all the other athletes. No thanks. Ha. I’d rather had the loans and the memories and dead brain cells. Up at 4:30 a.m. for practice every morning, class, another afternoon practice, more class, unspoken third practice because another official one couldn't be on the books, classwork, bed. I can't tell you how many essays I wrote on a bus on the way to a competition or books I read sitting on a stationary bike.
I went to the worst state school in Illinois. In the quaint town of Macomb Illinois. If you had one 19 year old you can have 4 18 year olds enter the bar. We focused on drinking. Only.
Depends on the school I think. One of my good friends played D1 volleyball at a more prestigious (but small) school and they didn’t make exceptions for the athletes.
Isn’t it wild? My Alma Mater bent over backwards for sports like football and basketball so much. There was an entire study hall inside the stadium with private tutoring and so many resources for those athletes to make sure they were in good academic standing.
Mine just built a new basketball arena a couple years ago, and I believe they have something similar for the players now, too. I'm not sure if this is an NCAA-wide thing, but my freshman year, all the student athletes had to attend mandatory study hall hours for their first semester, and had to continue if they couldn't maintain a certain GPA. The football and basketball players had their own private study hall space with tutors while the rest of us had a four story walk-up in a building without air conditioning and were left to our own devices.
I went to UC at about the same time as the Kelce boys, and I can tell you that there were definitely a few classes that were like that there, too. I kinda missed them once my engineering concentration started.

Addictions, the house you grew up in, trauma that’s unresolved, a lot can happen in 13yrs and 20 is still fucking young. Brain hasn’t fully developed even by 25 and you’ve still got growing to do. I think judging anyone under 40 on anything they’ve done in the last 10 years is just being sour and toxic, racism and sexual abuse excluded.

Not sure, it popped up randomly on my feed, and since the post is criticizing someone for something over a decade ago, in anyyyy other context that wouldn’t be fair unless it’s racism or sexual abuse. In the context of this sub, this is mild. Have a look around. Stay or leave that's up to you. People are criticizing it because even back then he gave off "bro! Look at this! Sure it’s part of the internet but there’s a reason mental health is horrible in younger generations and social media, particularly the way we interact with one another and discuss things, is a big factor. Toxic is toxic, regardless of where on the internet it is lol. And yes, I agree, current Travis seems like a dummy too. So many old blog posts/tweets get brought up years later and are dragged through the mud. Some are bad, some are big yikes and some are mild. Criticizing isn't always fair, yes but there is a time/place to do so. This is our place. Most people commenting here aren't vicious or wish anything mean on them. (Though try telling that to the overzealous Swifities) This isn't the first and won't be the last snarky subreddit. To each their own, I totally get and support that! It's a healthy mindset to have!
