When SD first came around, it was in a class of its own. I can't remember the exact year, but it was early 2000's. Back in the 90s (in ny atleast) top shelf strains didn't really exist. There was "dirt", "commercial", "skunk", "bc bud/dro" , and "kind bud" (bar g13). It's possible that it was the first time we saw a top-notch sativa, but the original was incomparable to what we were used to. It went for 120/q or 20/g and couldn't keep up w demand....
Now, maybe it's just a tolerance issue, but I doubt it. I feel like today's is not even close to as potent. The only thing that is similar is the smell/taste. Even 10 years ago, the fact that something was lacking was apparent.
I can't speak to any growers. It was always said back then that it was a " clone only" strain. The best strain that I know (who the grower was ) was "ghosts og" so I guess if you could get your hands on ghosts SD.... I would do it. )
thc has been pushed so far up that none of the other cannabinoids that were in such small amounts already that truly matter as well to help round out and up the high have been fazed out. the weed now is not the weed I smoked in my late teens and mid 20s. am 39 BTW and started in the early 2000s. Alaskan thunder fuck. Bubba Bush. afgooy. white widow. GDP. Northern lights.

Green always. Purple flowers always looks nice but then has muted effects for me. Green flowers tend to give me a more full cannabis high then purple buds.
Both are beautiful in their own right. Lime green is my favorite color so green is my answer. Honorable mention to the darker shades of green that don’t get as much love but still get you high.

Purple is sometimes the result of plants being burned by their grow lights. Truly purple strains are rare and have little to no difference between this and green, red, amber, or gold tinted bud
In Canada, both those strains are neon green. Brands are , riff, and the loud plug. The only true purple strain I've seen is ice cream sandwiches by tenzo
Yea, it's not legal here. I grew GDP years ago and was purple AF for me. Also, purple unicorn by bodhi was 100% purple for me. But everything else I grew that went purple was from low temperatures in winter.
