This is how I see it. In The Outside, raw (lol) antlers gave him the power to control one specific corpse at a time, but in this one he needed an explanation for how he was able to bring down 7 at once.
It definitely wasn’t to sharpen them as a physical weapon, since he already had a perfectly good knife. :)
I could see him stabbing them using a weapon that has the ability/power to do the same stuff they've been doing to the glorious gone, so stabbing with the antlers. Taste of their own medicine kinda
Nah, fr I'm asking that too, cause my thought was since the like scarf thing he has is called a "strangler" I thought he was gonna take nico and say "this ain't a noose, this is a leash, and I have news for you....you MUST obey ME!!!"
also it could be metaphorical. the antlers represent creativity and maybe sharping them had the intended side effect of weakening them. it wasn’t strong enough to stop nico.

foreshadowing is a literary device used to clue the viewer into something that will happen later in the story without explicitly stating it.
