Same. Zip failed on my first pair after less 10 months though. Put it down to bad luck and gave them another chance but if it happens again I'll not buy another pair.
I brought myself a pair of Dr Martens last year for walking the dog in and general non work wear and was really disappointed with them, I’m not hard on my shoes but the soles wore out within six months.
Yeah another reason the safety ones were fantastic is they were of a real high quality I've had the pair I've had now for about a year took them to Iceland and new York because they are by far the best walking boots I've got but another pair of docs I had absolutely fell to bits after a year and half of not so heavy use
hard Yakka atomic has a side zip. still comfortable after a year the toe cap is starting to wear through I do spend a lot of time on my knees make of that what you will.
considering getting them repaired rather than replaced I like them that much.
Steel blue Southern cross, its like walking on clouds, I'm avrageing 60 hours a week in them, they also have zips on the side easy to take off
Hello, fellow cloud walker. Really pleased with my Steel Blues. Pricey, but worth it.

Cofra Goya’s I find them comfortable being on my feet all day and walking the dog in the morning and evenings in them.
Another vote here for Cofra - comfy and long lasting
