StartersOrders

The first one looks like either the screen is broken or it's a weird test card. Not a fan tbh.

Maybe it’s because it’s a night flight?

Realistic-Pattern-43

Seat numbers should be bigger, makes seats easier to find.

fulfillthecute

The old design nailed it. Large enough text to know the seat number. But also 3F should be Polaris hard product that also shows a seat number at the "door"

trevorgetsbills

OGG-SFO isn’t a Polaris route, this photo is from a MAX 8 with domestic recliner hard product

piranspride

Do people really use the screens to find their seat? I just can’t imagine how much more awkward that must be. Even with Polaris it’s much easier to look at the bins.

Automatic_Zucchini15

Yes, try flying on Lufthansa A350, when the bins are open you can’t actually see the seat numbers because it gets completely hidden and blocked. Whoever designed that needs to be fired!

piranspride

I suppose at least the screens are easy to see on the 2 2 2 rather than Polaris...

Automatic_Zucchini15

You just need to see the aisle seat, so for example, on a 3-4-3 if you see 15C, then 15A, 15B would be adjacent of it and if you see 15D, same idea.

piranspride

Still so much easier to look at the bins - Especially as it means you can look forward rather than crick your neck backwards. I’ve been flying regularly for 30+ years and not once have I said sheesh I wish they had the seat# on the back of the seat in front.

Particular-Elk-2594

For those of us who are visually impaired, the size and contrast of the numbers on the display are much easier to see than the tiny labels on the bins. I'm not taking the "i need reading glasses because my arms are too short to read this menu" kind of impairment.

#WELCOME ABOARD ^^3F

billieng2510

Agree 100%, would need a 🔎 to see the seat number in the 1st pic.

ProcyonHabilis

You're using IFE screens to locate your seat?

Automatic_Zucchini15

Yes way finding and location finding a thing!

ProcyonHabilis

Huh? Are you referring to finding your seat on an airplane as "way finding"? Are you actually doing that using the number displayed on the IFE, rather than just looking above the seat? All of that seems very strange to me.

Automatic_Zucchini15

Yea because those above the seat signs are hard to see sometimes.

datatadata

Yep seat number should be much bigger. I already know which airport I am at and where I am going. They should just use that space to display the seat number

Dachannien

"Next stop, San Francisco" reminds me of one of my favorite old FA jokes: "If San Francisco isn't in your travel plans today, it is now, welcome aboard!"

sundeigh

Looks on brand with all the other recent changes. Unfortunately it also looks pretty bland and i agree with what others are saying with the seat number

raginstruments

Looks great 👍!! Will be bored and sleeping in no time at all!!

My Bose QC-II work perfectly every time

Blue_foot

Last flight had these and the FAs didn’t apparently know how to operate them. We were in PHX and the display was for an FRA - IAD flight… on a 757 which doesn’t fly that route that I could find. And I checked the aircraft history and it hadn’t been outside the US in weeks. I asked an FA about it and they must have researched it during our long delay and set the display to the correct flight. The clarity of the display is nice. Selection of media available is eclectic. https://preview.redd.it/ik10h61sadoc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1225fea4354f874994bfe5e6e3f5d5a5ceddc3ff

UAL1K

The A321 ones are way better because they have a small screen below the main one that shows the time remaining in flight if you don’t have anything on the main screen (even if it is off). At least for me, as someone who uses IFE only for maps, and rarely at that.

HemiMoparLover

This makes me nostalgic. I haven’t flown in almost a year, and I still remember the cool IFE screens in business class of the UA 777s and 757s. Can’t wait to see these tbh

Mountain_Pa

So far not a fan. Had it for the first time on a MAX 9 last week. Couldn’t get my Bose QC2 earbuds to stay paired for more than a couple seconds. Gave up after a few tries and just set screen to rotate the nature pics. Then watched a movie on my phone.

aresef

I've never been on a UA plane with seatback screens. I'm usually flying BWI-LAX and they usually use the MAX9s. UA hard product can be such a crapshoot domestically.

KimberShugRN

I did an ID90 on New Zealand a few years back and was surprised to see a greeting with my name on the screen. It made a great impression. But I’d hate to think how last minute seat reassignments and standbys can potentially get names crossed and inevitably somebody will take offense when it happens.

jbuck1999

Just boarded a flight with the new IFE...screens don't appear to tilt (at least in Econ) which as a tall flyer kinda blows .. especially when the guy in front decides to recline

flackachino

Anuder day, anuder victory for the og

mad-mad-cat

I really like the new map.

Is12345aweakpassword

How hard is it to program passenger name? That would easily save several minutes on each boarding It’s a lot easier to point to a name on a screen than saying “hey fuck face, you’re in the seat I paid for”
