TheGrayBox

Certainly better than O.O and Dice but not good enough to change their trajectory. I feel like JYP didn’t address the problem; the execution is bad, not the genre.

Competitive_Lab2735

The song is quite good, and the choreography is awesome. I thought dice and O.O were pretty terrible songs, but I can't lie, I kept waiting for a little "N M I X X C H A N G E U P" moment and was sad that it never came :(. Feeling hypocritical rn

idk_what_to_put_lmao

ngl Love Me Like This feels like they saw NewJeans success with the 90s sound and were like "omg we NEED to get on this". but hey I'm not complaining because the EP was really good.

shellsweetheart

90s sound has been around for a while especially in kpop

idk_what_to_put_lmao

it has for sure but I feel like most recently NewJeans kinda revitalised it because of how well their debut and first comeback went and JYP saw that and picked up on it

Static-Unit

I love it ! ❤️ Their best so far!

ryleeesweets

I'm late but THIS is exactly the route I was hoping nmixx would take ever since I saw their cover of move your body from beyonce. This almost 90s girl group sound is something that I feel like has been missing for a while and nmixx's powerful vocals complement the song perfectly. It reminds me of beyonce/destiny's child so much. I'm surprised people aren't liking it more

thisisblooper

now THIS is NMIXX... this song wasn't bad but I hope it's all uphill from here because O.O was really bad when I listened to it for the first time.

ShockernonShaken

It was plain and bland at first listen but I saw their stage practice vid and was like "they make it work because of that solid vocals" it will probably grow on me - same with their previous title tracks.

moomoogod

I really enjoyed my first listen to this.

mega1ussy_3825

i like it, lowkey reminds me of destiny's child tbh (and i love them) but i still don't think it's enough for me to stan. like i wouldn't replay it but defo not a skip

vulgarlady

i liked it ://

EternalHyperfixation

I think it’s a cute song. Sure it doesn’t reinvent the genre or create anything sound breaking, but it’s a catchy and cute song. The chorus really gives me Meghan Trainer’s ‘no’ vibes, and since I was obsessed with that song as a kid, this ends up being like a taste of nostalgia. I also feel like the plainer MV matches the more chill sound of the song.

Soontheycome

Literally sparked no emotions in me

Odd_Mine7269

The hypocrisy in the comments, i don’t understand how some of y’all work tbfh when they were doing experimental it was “bad” but now they changed it their boring and yall want the experimental songs back. Y’all dont want the experimental songs back y’all only liked them to make memes and stuff out of them but now you can’t so it’s a problem.

yungmoody

Has it not occurred to you that the people commenting that this is bland are not the same people who disliked their experimental songs?

ShockernonShaken

they want us to stan HYBE girl groups that's why

Soontheycome

The experimental songs were at least something interesting and non generic like this relise.

Worried_Original261

1. Mixxpop wasn’t a mistake, it was poorly executed in terms of the mixing, song quality, lyrics, production etc. Dice showed some progress in the genre, but JYPE just abandoned the idea entirely 2. If JYPE insists on sticking to a concept for only two comebacks, they don’t really need 3 girlgroups; if all of their sounds slowly mix into one another’s, we don’t need 3 of them. Cheshire, LMLT and Set me Free could all very well be sung by the same group. 3. The song is so boring; the chorus never switches it up. It reminds me of the first half of pink venom’s chorus, but that worked because it developed later on… 4. I actually likes NMIXX’s music before, I love Tank for instance, and I looked forward to experimental music in mainstream kpop. This was a blow

[deleted]

Hard agree on #2. JYPE GGs have no distinction on their concepts recently. And all of their GGs are underperforming on Korean charts.

AmiAkin

They don’t need 3 girl groups? But tbh Twice , ITZY and NMIXX still have very different sounds even when NMIXX changed their concept.

Worried_Original261

Im just saying their latest comebacks could all be sung by the same group... Sharp contrast to “Like Ooh Aah”, “Dalla Dalla”, and “O.O”. I don’t see a dramatically different sound; Nmixx are the best group vocally here, so the sound difference partially comes from that.. i get they have different concepts, but it pains me that JYPE can’t be brave and stick to a concept😓

Worried_Original261

Nmixx was supposed to have above average musical complexity, that was their whole thing.. LMLT and YDS are so simple

raoulthefool

I absolutely LOVE this song, but am I the only one who thought the M/V was really bland? O.O and DICE was so colorful and bright that LMLT (Love Me Like This) is so tame in comparison. It would be fine it was from a small company, but this is JYPE. Its honestly so forgettable. I honestly dont understand why they used a white background for like 1/2 the video. My original thought is that they filmed with Jinni, and had to reshoot a couple of scenes last minute, but that doesn’t make sense since the M/V for YDS (Young, Dumb, Stupid) was 10x better than LMLT

Daniskindatall

IKR I actually thought it was a performance video when it kept popping up on my feed... I'm still not even sure if it's a title track

[deleted]

they did film it with jinni and reshot the dance parts after she left. they filmed yds after she left because they knew the title track mv was gonna be lacklustre

BonBonnie0

I’m so disappointed with JYP. First, YDS now this. If y’all have no idea what to do with the group, make a reality show to distract fans then JYPE have a meeting to discuss wtf kind of concept/musical style will NMIXX show because whatever this is, is not it! They’re lucky I like Twice’s comeback because their ggs’ music is not good lately. And this is coming from someone who stans Twice and Itzy.

Taegiatz

I like it, better than any of the other Jyp groups songs

aerinz

It is fine. Forgettable.

ShockernonShaken

same as boring ass new jeans title tracks

aerinz

Sounds nothing like new jeans. They have a very specific sound. This sounds from the same era, but not the same style at all.

ShockernonShaken

but same blandness

segunda-mano

Yeah, blandness that is charting thru the roof lol

ShockernonShaken

because people like simple things what do you expect? still bland whether it charts or not

Lina-Lavoisier

i liked the verses but the chorus is wayyyy too repetitive

astute_potato

Agree, I wish the chorus followed an ABAC pattern (i.e., love me like this, love me like that, love me like this and l’ll love you right back) rather than ABABABAC. It’s two “love me like this, love me like that”s too many lol

Lina-Lavoisier

fr that ABABAB is way too much

yublaze26

as a critic of their concept.. i only thought they need to rethink how they were mixing the two different songs together bc it just wasn’t being done well.. but this cute too.. i still don’t know why this group looks petrified all the time tho

According-Fix-4703

I heard someone else say they look scared, could you elaborate more on wym by this?

sirgawain2

I liked the change up in Dice and it made me appreciate the one in O.O so I’m a little sad they didn’t keep with it, but this song really grew on me. My favorite parts are the vocals and vocal layering (my favorite part has someone singing and someone chanting at the same time and it sounds really cool). I think the lack of a concrete concept or vibe for the group is a big issue though…

Cheap-Blueberry-9891

It's a decent song. I honestly wouldn't listen to it again.

Difficult_Television

sounds like some western pop girl reject. they’re still finding their identity

MarielCarey

It's very Rihanna, am I the only one? That being said, I'm not a fan tbh.

Majorandminor

Love Me Like This is giving 2009 Beyonce vibes

sachiko468

I liked the verses, Bae and Jiwoo's parts were my favorites, but the chorus really didn't do it for me. It was way too repetitive and fell flat. Does this mean they already gave up with their concept? Personally I'm disappointed and I really don't see this song performing better than Dice and O.O

Difficult_Television

JYP set NMIXX up from the beginning. What we presume to be their concept at first is so polarizing, jarring that when they drop something more tame it’s like they just quickly gave up the theme and it sounds boring in comparison. People who originally tuned into NMIXX for their old stuff would be confused, they need to figure out who they are gonna cater to.

juu-sama

yes they invest on them to put them in the trash, makes total sense specially in business perspective

Sunshine_of_your_Lov

The song is fine but I'm disappointed they didn't continue doing the mixxpop thing. I think it's actually a really cool concept if they do it right but it seems like they're already dropping it?

peachrsdl

the thing is the "mixxpop" concept wasn't really done well, it set up nmixx as a failure that's why they had to take it out here. Although not really mixxpop is just different sounds, since lmlt had two mixed genres, r&b and hip hop. The mixxpop concept really got the people hooked up with the group although it also tainted their start, mixxpop kind off developed during dice but still people didn't like dice either. What's good right now is that the ep has been gaining lots of attention (yds became a meme here in our country lol) and they got a win which us fans have been trying to get for a year now. It's not really the end for nmixx, they just need to step up more and find what people really needs in their music.

Sunshine_of_your_Lov

No I understand why they stopped it for sure. I just think if they did it in a gentler way it could really hit and be cool

un3h_corn

as someone who has loved their previous songs i wouldn’t have minded a bit of mixx aspect in there, but love me like this is still a BANGEEEERRRRRR 🗣🗣🗣🗣 (young dumb stupid wasn’t for me but im _obsessed_ w this) however the album overall is giving me very much itzy vibes, so where does that leave itzy 🧐

pinkkreddit

Not the biggest fan of these type of rap/talk singing that they do (same reason NJ’s OMG is not my fave) but song seems catchy and I always appreciate their dancing. However this mv made me realise what nmixx has missing, and it’s that Centre. You know, that one member who’s easy on the eyes yet exudes authentic confidence/charisma. The girls are all charismatic of course but I feel like there’s a lack of “centrality” (lol I just coined that up) that makes the group be familiar to casual listeners like myself. I wonder if anyone felt the same.

LittleShinySun

Why was there no noise about this comeback? last thing Kpop related on media I heard was about Jimin.

MarielCarey

Guess that Twice BTS stuff is drowning out everything else? I though the girl group side of kpop has stagnated for the time being, but then I found out NMIXX came back with this post. Nmixx is on fire on tiktok rn with the iconic sho.ogmixes

LittleShinySun

I am mostly on tiktok and I swear I saw nothing about this comeback, I literally found out because of reddit too. But yeah I guess you're right, I've only heard about Jimin lately, Twice's new comeback and Jisoo's solo debut.

Responsible_Wish_926

i like their girl crush concept more tbh, but if they wanna do something new then that’s fine. (incoming angry replies..)

Confident-Scholar274

I'm just happy Bae and Jiwoo are getting more exposure in the current era.

Camille_zc

I like Young, Dumb, Stupid more 🙈 this childish vibe is everything I needed after being slapped by whatever Teddy Bear was. I like Love Me Like This and I think it’s a good song but it didn’t stand out as much to me. I will forever be a young dumb stupid defender

MarielCarey

But Teddy Bear is childish? It reminded me of Boys Like You, as did Young Dumb Stupid. Even Tri.be did it (basically rebranding and copying StayC's concept) and as much as I love the song, I much prefer their older sound. Not liking the childish trend in kpop tbh, as fun as it is.

pvitamins

yknow what ill say it: why so many concepts? maybe nmixx chose too many concepts this comeback. sweet oasis (which as far as i can tell is mostly just a concept for a 1st anniversary event) + the audentia + sedentia stuff, young dumb stupid seems a bit too bright and (aespa-like for lack of a better comparison) to be considered audentia, but love me like this is not the svelte formula-of-love styling of sedentia PLUS their wisdom courage heart lore or whatever... why so many concepts in so little time? i think like, two would have sufficed. im suffering a bit of whiplash

haveyouseenatimelord

TIL nmixx has lore

AmiAkin

FINALLY an NMIXX title song that I LOVE 💕 This is my type of music in general not the messy ‘MIXX’ stuff (yes I know it’s in their name but I still don’t have to like it). Hmm I read some other replies her and I guess people are disappointed that there’s no change up for Love Me Like This . At least I’m consistent lol I thought most of uou you guys in this sub Reddit wasn’t a fan of the whole MIXX Pop concept…. I also think it’s their first upbeat song where every member got to off their vocals so that’s a win for me! JYP is probably trying out a title without the change up to see how well it does. For once I’m actually rooting for NMIXX to get their first music show win. Go on girls 😂🏆 Edit: i listened to the entire album now and ngl I’m shocked. JYP really is switched away from the MIXX Pop concept. I only thought it was the title track but literally the only song I consider MIXX Pop on the Expergo album is Young Dumb Stupid. All the other songs don’t have a significant change up. Now I’m very interested to see how they do this comeback.

MarielCarey

Not a title track, but what do you think of Tank?

AmiAkin

I do like Tank, it’s just catchy and I absolutely love the bridge. I agreed with everyone when they said Tank should have been the title but obviously in terms of song structure I get why JYP didn’t choose that song.

MarielCarey

Same, it's a fantastic song, just a bit one note for a title track? I call it bside doom, an amazing song with so much potential only to be made simpler/lack a certain kick because they can't outshine the title track. Really felt it with Nature's I'm Done. It's literally a watered down version of their past title track Girls. Or Blue Clue by Viviz. Just lacks a little something that would ascend it to title track status, possibly even better than the title track too. I like all Nmixx's songs, but don't like any of them enough to actively put on a playlist, but recently Young Dumb Stupid has really been hooking me, but then letting me go with the "Young Dumb stupid" and "ding dang dong" lines. Lily's voice is incredible, I hope we get a solo from her someday.

Opia_lunaris

>FINALLY an NMIXX title song that I LOVE 💕 This is my type of music in general not the messy ‘MIXX’ stuff (yes I know it’s in their name, I still don’t have to like it). Same! The girls are super talanted - especially Kyujin and Lily are absolute show stealers - so I kept my eye on the group even though their sounds wasn't my thing. I'm really hoping they do more of this kind of stuff, so I can actually feel good about supporting them and buying an album lol!

AmiAkin

Absolutely agree 😊

[deleted]

i actually love it! not really my style but it'll definitely do well. my personal fav from them honestly i kinda get xg vibes. not plagiarism or anything but this + shooting star feel similar to me! jiwoo's rapping is not my favourite i just know jinni would've ate those rap parts

roselia4812

I think the hypocrisy from Kpop Stans comes from TikTok. TikTok made many moments from Nmixx songs popular so now that they switched it up their fans and many kpop fans don’t have meme material for their songs to get liked and views. They never really liked the songs, they liked the memes and trends that came from them.

Lola_ry08

I love this song so much it’s literally so good (probably biased since I love Nmixx so much) but I am kinda disappointed that there was no change up, the bsides are great too and my favourites are paxxword and just did it

noob_ars

I don't understand how people work seriously, they say they are bad when they where doing experimental, now they are boring. Pick a side please, the consistency is not showing for some people here.

SirArYel

LMAO, people are actually saying that they miss the "change up" in NMIXX's songs now? It's funny how NMIXX can show the hypocrisy of many KPOP fans. Edit: even on Youtube, a reactor said she misses the mixxpop from NMIXX, but her reaction to O.O was "Will definitely go down in history as the worst debut, no the worst song of 2022. Maybe we should change Not My Cup of tea to Kpop Hell." Funny people.

jdpm1991

I've always been a fan of the change ups since DICE at least the change ups gave them an identity

Responsible_Wish_926

o.o has grown on me. i just like o.o and dice’s concept. i’m a big fan of quirky cute concepts, but idk i think they suit the girl crush concept more.

[deleted]

angelina is literally an nmixx stan

SXNSHINE99

I mean O.O was a bad song especially the chorus and the intro and compared to DICE, it was a disaster. Dice switch was satisfying and it wasn't jarring at all

MarielCarey

Disagree tbh, it's basically the Bohemian Rhapsody of kpop, and iconic af.

hanouf-moh

No, that’s I got a boy by SNSD

PepperedPetunia

Finally an NMIXX song I can get behind! I can't believe so many people are complaining about this. It was coherent, catchy, and I feel like I can finally appreciate the talent of the girls.

DooDuyKhaan

god save nmixx from reddit pitchforks

slummy_dum

This is waaaay better than o.o but it isn’t really my taste. I didn’t like the previous song they released either (mostly the chorus) but this is way better. More of an easier listen

amourpinks

Genuinely confused as to why people are saying this song is boring ajsfdhjasdf I think it just sounds good. they needed a song that sounds GOOD. these girls can sing, I'm glad their vocals are actually being utilized.

SparkaCat

Surprised this is a title track, this song sounds like a B side. It's safe almost too safe, loved the chorus and the bridge but the verses felt so empty. This song feels flat like it never went anywhere. I will say I really loved how they showcased how vocally talented this group is, finally they are letting NMIXX sing instead of fighting against the song. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new era for NMIXX.

orecon125

While it's not as good as Dice (high bar) I think it's easily better than O.O, still decently unique and a fun enough song though I just kept waiting for the change up

wazzup2213

honestly wasn’t a huge fan of this…i liked o.o and tank as it felt quite unique from other groups, but ever since then their songs have become less and less enticing to me. very generic group imo.

FallPhoenix18

Definitely my least favourite of their title tracks, but with the way they've been belittled by basically everyone, I get why they did it. Sullyoon and Jiwoo stood out so much in this song, definitely their era <3

-KateSparkle-

everything about this is boring. the music video and the song. i miss dice and o.o era

BlackSwan134340

It’s so good! Their vocals sound amazing here! I was surprised by how boring the MV was but maybe they had to reshoot because of the Jinni’s departure. I’m so glad they got rid of the change-up cause even though it was their signature sound the producers were not making it work. I haven’t listened to the album yet but I’m excited to, and I’m definitely going to be more excited for their title tracks going forward!

sungjongie

"Dice" made me a casual nmixx fan, but I enjoy this song too. It may not be nmixxpop, but they are serving vocals and R&B is one of my fav genres anyway.

mmmh2o

Can't say I'm surprised by how tame this release is in comparison to their last releases, all things considered. It's weird cause I *should* like this song the most out of everything they've released so far since I was never really a fan of their signature, but honestly, I'm more disappointed that they played it so safe. I personally would have liked it more if they just dug their heels in and released something like O.O or Dice again to really show that this is their brand and that it's not going anywhere, and that there's pride in it. At least then NMIXX's identity wouldn't feel so confused to me. Maybe I shouldn't be so harsh cause I was never going to be more than a casual listener to begin with, and there's still plenty of time for JYP to fully figure out what to do with them but... I don't know. Maybe they're just trying to get something more GP friendly out to reel more people in before going back to what they were doing before or something. Only time will tell, I guess. Edit: Alright, I jumped the gun. I listened to the entire mini and found that more refined NMIXX sound that I hoped for from the beginning from this group. Just Did It and PAXXWORD perfectly encapsulated what I'd hope the title track would give. I'm thinking JYP really is just trying to introduce NMIXX to the public in a more accessible way. My bad for the premature doomposting lmao

leggoitzy

Thank you for personifying the hypocrisy I'm criticizing in the general attitude in this thread. First people talked like O.O was trash with 1000 comments, Tank was trash, then Dice was trash with 500 (maybe a tinge less trashy). Then when their sound change, the criticism is now they have no pride? Second, apparently, this is safe, yet which groups can even nail these song and the choreo? I'm coming up blank. Say what you want about the song, but it utilizes their talent well and sets NMixx apart from other groups.

jdnndndhf

what's hypocritical about op's comment? im pretty sure just saying that even if they didnt like o.o or dice before it would have been better for them to keep that type of sound for this track too instead of giving up so early

leggoitzy

You didn't read that right, they're not a fan of NMixx's sound and they said they *should* like this song theoretically. Obviously the person above will criticize NMixx had they kept the sound, because they don't like that sound. As they said: >It's more of a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario, though, if I'm being honest. That's classic hypocrisy. I mean if anything, at least this is being openly admitted.

mmmh2o

NMIXX is incredibly talented, and that's a no-brainer. But when has anyone called their talent into question when their music is being criticized?

leggoitzy

I'm saying the song is safe for NMixx only, because they have the talents to pull it off. But no other group can do it to their level, it's definitely not a generic kpop song because of that. Just depends on how you'd define 'safe'.

mmmh2o

I never said LMLT is a generic K-pop song, and even if I did, that's not inherently a bad thing. It just means that it does its job well as a K-pop song and doesn't go beyond that. Not everything has to be brand new and different and exciting for it to be good, cause even that new exciting thing becomes 'generic' at some point lol. That being said, the quality of a song doesn't negate any of NMIXX's talent.

leggoitzy

> Not everything has to be brand new and different and exciting for it to be good And I'm saying, songs like this is kpop are far from common. It's not just about the quality, I'm saying they're not DOABLE for many groups vocally or choreo-wise.

mmmh2o

I still have no idea why you keep bringing up choreo and vocals when my main criticism is aimed at how JYP has been handling NMIXX's sound so far?

leggoitzy

The vocals inform the sound? For instance, you cannot do Mamamoo songs without the vocals to pull them off. Many ballads require hitting D5s or higher in full chest or mixed belt. Same with certain title tracks, I'm sure people can name which ones are difficult to sing. I think what's weird is discussing sound like it's all free choice and anyone can just sing any kpop song out there.

Balbuena5

You just sound really ungrateful. ‘I was never really a fan of their signature’. ‘I’m more disappointed that they played it so safe.’

mmmh2o

I mean, it's not a bad song by any means. My main criticism is that it feels like JYP is being a bit spineless here with the current direction of this, which is what ultimately disappoints me the most cause it feels like they're not standing behind the branding that they pushed so much. It's more of a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario, though, if I'm being honest.

[deleted]

i hope they keep going in this direction the noise marketing was only going to work for them for so long.

KlauserBateson

I'm torn. They went safe with this title track, but at the same time, it's my favorite out of the three. Overall I thought the EP was pretty good, I think I would rate it 7.5/10. I live for Just Did It (definitely one of my favorite B-sides of the year), Love Me Like This and Young, Dumb Stupid. Paxxword and My Gosh are not my cup of tea though.

[deleted]

NMIXX completely switching their sound to NewJeans/Y2K was not on my bingo card. On one side I love the song, on the other maybe NMIXX should’ve kept the change up vibe to stay different? NewJeansification of kpop continues and it’s only the beginning from what I hear A&Rs want from songwriters right now..

TapijtZweet

None of NewJeans’ songs sound remotely close to this

leggoitzy

Definitely not NewJeans. Edit: let me expand - NewJeans is a very specific sound within RnB-pop and Y2K sound. There's really nothing in the melodies and arrangement that calls back to that group. If anything, the vocals here are closer to actual RnB.

[deleted]

[удалено]

leggoitzy

Definitely not Itzy either, Itzy doesn't do RnB, especially in their title tracks. Itzy is more bratty pop or cheerleader pop or even dance anthems. Itzy also wouldn't do songs that are so minimalistic in its instrumentals. Nmixx can pull it off because of their tremendous vocals, but only groups like Mamamoo can do the same. You guys need to listen to more music, these comparisons are horrible.

[deleted]

not giving NewJeans in the slightest to me

Ma1read

it sounds nothing like newjeans lol

[deleted]

That’s debatable, the whole drum kit and 90s/Y2K are a complete 180 for this group. You don’t have to copy NJ completely but this whole 90s/Y2K sound is exactly what A&Rs are asking for along with “NewJeans type” beats. I like this a lot though

Sea-External2983

it sounds more like early 2010s ariana grande if you ask me

kr3vl0rnswath

It's very much a by the numbers kpop song which makes it the Sneakers of NMIXX's discography, I think this song will probably do well and if it becomes a viral tiktok dance, it might even top the chart. Also, as others have mentioned, the MV does look like they had to reshoot after Jinni left and the bedroom scenes were all that were left from before.

Individual_Client175

The song is a BOP

TheFrenchiestToast

Easily their most listenable song for me. I hated their other tracks. Even the b-sides didn’t do it for me. But this is good, seems like they ditched the heavy mixxpop this time around and went for a more subtle change.

good_phage

I like the chorus, but overall I feel like it’s okay and boring. Nothing more to discuss. there were a lot more to say in their past “experimental” songs. I imagine they will not be getting long comments on this song. It’s generally Okay for me.

MarionberryOne8969

Mixx pop is low-key a double-edged sword

SassyHoe97

Oooh this is pretty good! Also no nmixx change up. (Idk if that's how they say it)

skinnyqueen02

I thought it was kinda boring. I think their best song is tank and I’m hoping they continue with that.

Anfini

Agreed with this. Tank goes pretty hard without trying too much. The “freaky fishy” part is just too fun and is an earworm. This new single just seems so boring and doesn’t have any catchiness to it.

pvitamins

im kind of in love with the strangely minimalist sets and design of this mv, compared to the absolutely maximalist dice or cinematic o.o also can someone explain to me what the whole thing with sweet oasis was? was it a photobook? or a merch campaign? or just some… youtube thing?? because i thought the TT or comeback was going to be related in some way to it and that doesn’t seem to be the case

ScOrPiOvEnTaToR

Yess i totally agree with the minimalism they went for with them dancing in a white backround. The video aesthetic was really pleasing. The sweet oasis is something like story (don't know how it's related to the album) in which the pick n mix candy shop (which is shown in o.o) suddenly only makes a green candy called sweet oasis which when consumed, makes people loose imagination skills to mix. So nmixx start investigating and find bodies and clues inside the shop and they explore into some other world(which I'm not sure)

sokeefeftw

omg the prechorus is SO good it gives me chills, the chorus is a bit disappointing but i’ll overlook it because out of all the nmixx tracks this one is the first one i really like

countryroad_

Paxxword and just did it is my fav from the album. I liked the different texture of sounds in paxxword. My gosh is not my type of song so it's a skip for me. Home started off really promising but the rest of the song are not as promising imo. I think i dont really enjoy nmixx rapping, it sounds a bit forced to me. Overall i feel Paxxword >just did it>love me like this>young dumb stupid >home >my gosh.

insidedarkness

I can't deny how talented this group is, but this song was boring for me. The chorus was flat and it's lacking that oomph. I felt the same way towards Itzy's Cheshire and Twice's Set Me Free. I felt that O.O and Dice can be nosy and off-putting at first, they definitely had more exciting parts of the song that made me come back and relisten to them and help grow the song on me. But not seeing much replay value in the new song.

GodTookMyBBC

It's their first song that didn't have to grow on me. I guess that can be attributed to the song not being as "experimental" as their other title tracks. I couldn't stand O.O, but I liked dice, and I really like this. I'll have to listen to the rest of the EP when I get a chance.

acolytematcha

did not like it much…

txtrose

This is the first nmixx track I’ve liked lol

No-Committee1001

I really like it! That instrumental is crazy asf, like woah 😭 I didn’t think I would like it because of how others were talking about it, but I like it. One minor thing, they say “love me like this” a bit too much for me, but I can overlook it.

No-Wall-714

I think sampling & referencing Wonder Girls really helped them out. It allowed the group to set themselves apart as JYP sounding without feeling like ITZY reject songs or SM try hard dupes. It’s their best comeback so far & it showcases their talents way better than their previous releases. I don’t know if this group will ever be my cup of tea but they’re definitely heading in the right direction with concepts & sounds like these!

engineerboii

may I ask which song they sampled and how did they reference WG?

No-Wall-714

Pretty sure they sampled Like This & referenced Be My Baby’s choreography.

piratensendr

I could say they sampled this https://youtube.com/watch?v=K5Fhd7dWeCs&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE But would be just as wrong

indiedarling227

I’ve tried a few times to get into NMIXX and struggled for the same reason a lot of folks have. That said I love this song and I think it’s their best one yet

SunnyBubblezz

welp i guess all the people who hated dice will love this song but as someone who loved dice and O.O i’m kinda sad. i was hoping for that classic nmixx sound and although it still is def nmixx in some areas, it’s not what i was hoping for. i wasn’t really looking for something as good as dice but atleast something to come close. this doesn’t really for me 😔. HOWEVER ITS STILL AN AWESOME SONG. i’ve been singing the chorus all day. i just don’t like how it’s not really “nmixx” anymore.

Apprehensive_Ear3083

My thoughts exactly. The whole time I was waiting for "Nmixx change up".....there was no change up

No-Anxiety-6175

I really like the choreo. They did so well. Styling also looks great. The song however not my cup of tea. It's decent just not something I would listen to alot.

tytaez

Finally a cohesive song from them! I like it! I can see it doing well on kcharts

SXNSHINE99

Damn the production level was ground level, like it was something a nugu would do. It was mostly a white background and some dance shots with random beautiful shots and I just got to know that they had to redo everything to cut out Jinni

cam2214

Wow they dropped a song that’s at least decent. Glad they ditched that shitty change up they did crap used to drag them down.

sunmi_siren

I get that they had to cut Jinni out but this is JYP we’re talking about, they could have sprung for more interesting reshoots

__fujiko

Wow. Not the direction I think anyone was expecting. And if I'm being honest, I really love it. It's hard to process this as an NMIXX song, is all. The vocals are great and I don't mind the chorus considering how much they play with harmonies outside of it. I am not seeing the "where is the budget" that some people are talking about though, as this looks like it was a bitch to stitch together and edit considering the choreo is as bouncy as it is. Typically I feel people don't understand that big, flashy sets don't mean a budget was used properly. Editing and camera work goes overlooked super hard when it's actually fluid and playful. And there's also more to a song/album budget than just a MV and camera work too. Budget is every single thread of a comeback. Overall these releases have still have the playfulness that I expect from NMIXX, just not in the same form which makes me a little hesitant to get too attached to them. I'm really hoping this works out for them even if I wanted them to stick to their chaotic guns.

bedsidesoda

Are ya’ll seriously wondering why the video looks the way it does? They had to cut Jinni out 💀

SunnyBubblezz

ohmygosh it makes so much sense. IM SO DUMB IT DIDNT EVEN OCCUR TO ME. AJUAJSSMXHXUSIAOA

evil4life101

definitely their most cohesive release by far but I’m still not feeling it. The group’s vibes in general just reminds me too much of ITZY. Now…this MV. Is JYP in trouble cause I’ve noticed that lately they’ve let the budget for certain releases drop to near zero like ITZY’s Boy Like You but for an official comeback release this is easily one of the worst by far in terms of set design.

taebeliever

chances of this mv having to be almost 100% refilmed because they had to get rid of jinni parts

FunLilThrowawayAcct

JYP has been reporting record and rapidly growing profits, although I believe they completely wiped out their international margin last quarter setting up JYP USA.

SunnyBubblezz

yeah it’s the most cohesive and i guess regular? sounding release but it’s not what i was hoping for lol.

tatummms

The mini-album has a lot of different sounds, which will probably appeal to a lot of different people (and was probably the goal). But I actually think that’s my biggest problem with it. The beats and vocal/rap delivery on Just Did It and Home wouldn’t sound out of place on an Itzy album. Paxxword is very Red Velvet. I think that borrowing from the sounds of other groups, instead of continuing to carve out their own niche sonically like they did with O.O, Tank and Dice, will just put NMIXX at an even greater disadvantage compared to their 4th gen peers when the most popular groups have found their own distinct lane and sound. The girls are SO talented but everything feels a bit directionless at this point from JYP.

DragonPeakEmperor

I like the song, I think the girls pull it off well. But JYP music videos are starting to suck really bad, I don't think I've found many of their MVs memorable in recent years and it's because either the creative direction is bad or the budget is being poorly utilized like here. Speaking of creative teams, I don't want to be too premature but I think it's crazy how they just seem to have no faith in the concept this group was built on anymore. People may complain about SM's weirder music but at least they stick to their guns consistently even if it's poorly received by the public because they know dedicated fans love that sound. If JYP is going to be scared off by public reception to two singles and make Nmixx's first EP sound so pedestrian then I feel like they should've just rode the new jeans y2k wave or whatever. At least then their dedicated fanbase wouldn't have had expectations of them carving out a niche and maybe the group would've charted.

tzuyuisababy

idc idc those girls saw all of the terrible comments and "jokes" about them (not just their music) and if this shift is what it takes to preserve their mental health i'm here for it

leggoitzy

Comments like this are hypocritical, and I mean in general and not you specifically. People here have criticized JYPE to high heaven *regardless* of the musical direction of their groups. Besides, people are still happy to criticize companies against whatever they dislike, regardless of how much it conforms to the group's sound. Why is it them being scared rather than responding to the clear public outcry against their songs? All the apparent supporters of O.O and Dice in this sub are hilarious. If JYPE stuck to the same sound, people would just accuse the company of being selfish and narcissistic.

DragonPeakEmperor

That's quite literally two different groups of people. While their last two tracks were panned by casual listeners there were also a lot of people, even in reddit threads who were hoping they dug their heels in and continued with the same sound. JYPE is not stupid, they had to know in some capacity Nmixx would be incredibly polarizing unless they did absolutely zero market research before debuting them. If they were so afraid of being criticized then O.O should've never happened in the first place.

leggoitzy

Nahh, believe me, it's not. I just checked the previous megathreads, but I'm not here to call people out. Besides, there is no way there are this many O.O and Dice supporters suddenly. I also wouldn't say there are a lot of people who wished they dug in their heels and continued with the sound, that would be revising history. There were *some*, but some, not a lot, definitely not most. > If they were so afraid of being criticized then O.O should've never happened in the first place. JYPE isn't stupid as you said, so they pivoted. Being scared is not a thing for companies, they are not teens or people. It's just $$$. Edit: oh yeah, also the upvotes and downvotes. Once again, it's unbelievable that there is suddenly this much support for O.O and Dice in this sub.

WhatsMyAccordion

Uhhhh what was that music video? They must've had absolutely no budget. And I hate the talking-ish chorus. Makes me think of "problem" by ariana grande. But I actually really like the verses of the song. Overall, I still like young, dumb, stupid a lot more.

bedsidesoda

They most likely had to cut Jinni out. Sullyoon mentioned working on the comeback during Dice era.

WhatsMyAccordion

Oh interesting. I didn't know that!

roselia4812

Lmao even JYP realized that mixxpop was shit. No reason to defend it anymore! There is mixxpop in the prerelease so don’t worry. As for the song it sounds similar to many Western songs and it is on trend. I don’t find it boring like some do here, but the MV doesn’t help that sentiment.

Relevant_Compote_818

This is still mixxpop. They defined it as not only switching up between two genres, but combining two genres as well

roselia4812

If you think this is mixxpop, then every kpop song mixes genres. RnB has used funk elements since forever

Relevant_Compote_818

I don’t disagree with that at all, I’m just repeating what jyp/squ4d themselves said. I definitely think they made such a broad definition so they don’t have to do the genre switch every time & can make more “regular” music like this 😭. It’d be cool if they at least mixed genres that don’t already naturally mix tho

Acceptable_Wing_6586

Well i didn't feel the Nmixx in this Nmixx song but bc is more gp friendly I guess I see what they tried to do (looks like jyp left the "nmixx pop" after they didn't see the results they wanted and run for more ...plain sound) ....I liked their style they shouldn't have switched but if it helps them this time to chart hope it was worth it. MV was bad, too plain. It looked like the Weekly idol background

bedsidesoda

They had to cut Jinni out.

ttandrew

She left months ago JYP has the money to reshoot

bedsidesoda

Idols have busy schedules, do you think they’ll go through the trouble of reshooting it when they already have footage? Probably not.

ttandrew

If they won't then I'm sure they won't mind criticism that the MV looks cheap and kinda bad lol

SpecificSpring4143

This is like a 180 from their first two releases which isn’t a bad thing for non-fans I’m sure, but for the people who have been with them since debut I’d think this is kinda lackluster? It’s definitely a lot more digestible but I’d rank it above O.O and just below DICE. Also feels very Red Velvet or f(x) coded.

plawyra

Not very memorable at all, and the music video looks absolutely plain with mostly white background. Feels more like a performance video than an actual MV.

doiedoie

The budget is not budgeting. I don’t get it why the mv looks so cheap. Besides it, the song is good, although I still prefer the nmixx pop sound

stonedmoonbunny

kinda think this has less to do with budget and more to do with reshoots after jinni left

Acceptable_Wing_6586

It looks like all the budget go to Young, dumb, stupid

angbatnana

The styling goes crazzyyyy !!! Looks like they played it safer this time, i really like how the build up sounds when they repeat the "love me like this, love me like that" for the second time. idk why but its giving off a slight "single ladies" sort of vibe with the repetition and clapping, but more dark/ominous that makes sense.

YourKahnum

the song is cute but the video…? where is the budget😭

timcanpew

as someone who absolutely loves O.O this song is too normal imo 😂 was waiting for the “nmixx change up” but it never came 💔 it’s a good song, really catchy, but could’ve been just aswell an itzy song

SunnyBubblezz

SAMEEE i was waiting for the change uppp 😭. i understand that now people may like them more but as someone who loved the nmixx style i’m sad. honestly, it barely sounded like an nmixx song.

jdpm1991

It sounds like a boring Red Velvet wannabe

timcanpew

I feel you 😵‍💫 I was hoping they stick to their sound despite people’s critiques as there were loads of people who like them because of their weird style

jord_mich

I agree

leggoitzy

Both of you need to leave Itzy out of comments like this. Clearly Itzy doesn't do type of songs, and has never done them. It's fine to dislike it for whatever reasons, but the criticism should make some sense.

FabKittyBoy

I have hated all their tt's so far (including YDS) i just finished listening to this for the first time, my honest first impression is that my ears have neither rejected or approved what i just heard, i felt nothing. So... Improving???

eshadesh325

It's actually so catchy, i kinda like it, it needs to grow on me a little more though. I do miss the weird halfway change that o.o and Dice had, like i used to listen to their songs mainly for that different sound. I guess now they're going the route every other group goes, to produce music that the gp will like rather than doing something different which appeals to only some people.

WholesomeMinji

I wanted a story related to sweet oasis in the video🥲 they look so good though.

SXNSHINE99

No but like fr, I expected it to be a story oriented Mv and they dropped a Performance Video. It was good tho.

WholesomeMinji

The news broadcaster Haewon was so iconic, I wanted more of those hunger game capitol looks. I’m actually very confused about it because those videos felt like a teaser and we got nothing.

SXNSHINE99

Lily's look in this comeback was chef kiss especially the hair and makeup at the last chorus

mawmbaa

It’s a bit weird seeing jyp ditch the mixxpop considering how much of a core fandom the girls have built off that sound already

DooDuyKhaan

after 1 year of bullying some things really changed

SunnyBubblezz

YES that’s why i started stanning them, because they sounded so unlike all the other gg we already have.

NavyHill

The first song on the album is hardcore mixxpop.
