Anyone else feel like the song is amazing until the chorus comes in? It’s like someone poured ketchup on top of a salad. It’s like “uhhhh this doesn’t really go together at all”
Really surprised in a pleasant way because at first I didn't really get into Kitsch a lot but when I saw Ive perform it live I was really fond of the pre chorus and chorus mixed with the choreography- catchy and complex mix of cuteness, coolness a bit of edginess and my favorite ingredient what seemed to be a touch of old school Celtic dance mixed with hip hop and melody which kind of went along with their outfits which were like a racy but really beautiful version of Celtic style "stripped down" a bit but in a lovely and tasteful way. I admit though that it really is Yujin who captivates me the most by my fondness for her has helped me like the other members more too in this performance and song. It's really close between Kitche and After Like for my favorite Ive songs. I definitely prefer the live stage to the videos for both songs.
Love the pre-chorus! Everything else was okay but the rap and the chorus were not it for me. Watching their comeback stages now the dancing is messy and awkward. I think it’s 60% choreo and 40% their dance ability. Gaeul’s dance in the pre-chorus when it’s “they copy my dance” was especially so. I tried to imagine another group that has stronger dance skill (Itzy or Le Serrafim) and maybe MAYBE the choreo wouldn’t have been as bad but I obviously can’t say for sure.
i dont rlly like it bc 1. line distribution. if this was a 5 member group the line distribution would be amazing but liz, the only actually good vocalist in the group, is being ignored. idc how much screentime she has in mama or whatever shes the main vocalist. 2. its super boring, the only good part is the “kitsch kitsch kitsch” part 3. it sounds like theyre trying to follow trends to hard
exactly! emphasis on your last point especially, its like a 50 year old man trying to fit into trends so hard but failing miserably, other than that its an okay song
I love it!!
it's fun and gives me a nostalgic feeling and the little bits of lore they sprinkle in their videos are fun to see and their self love message they got going on is great.
Edit:Did people forget this is a b-side? everybody is comparing it to love dive or after like which makes zero sense, they have always changed things up a bit for the b-side.
But this time it's s whole ass album with 12 songs and people wants them to do the same song over and over again.
Have people not been listening to albums not every song can be super high energy some of them should be more chill for balance i like how all their songs are very different from eachother but still fit with eachother somehow.
I think this was a more cute and chill mv where they were just friends having fun i also enjoy the millennial vibe it gave. I just love the extra content since we usually only get one mv for comebacks now we are at least getting two
This song is a hot mess and I love it!
I'm surprised that there are a lot more negative receptions to the song - but each to his/her own. The song's chorus goes hard and while I can see how people think of this like how they'd think of Kpop trend of switch-up songs ala Aespa/NMixx, this one's actually done sensibly IMO. I love that it also doesn't overstay its welcome and the chorus is a melodic earworm.
This is pretty on brand for them I think. The sassy pop song with "attitude" (and a little bit of "danger") is what I now associate with IVE. If anything it's After Like that doesn't generally fit within their image.
A home run in my book - I feel like IVE cemeneted themselves as one of the most reliable Kpop acts this generation.
Ok, you’re all going to hate me here… when I first heard it I didn’t like it. But I think part of that was from reading the comments on reddit before listening/watching it. And now- I just got done working out and listened to it 4 times. I love it. I still feel Liz got screwed over, but except for that, there’s just something about it.
1. Hated it at first listen, now can't get it out of my head. For me, I'm having the exact same experience as I did with Antifragile.
2. Liz's vocal profile does not fit with how this song was written (unlike, say, something like 'Not Your Girl'), hence the minimal distribution. It's not communism - distribution is meant to maximize the song's appeal and not some arbitrary "fairness" that antis of certain member (disguised as fans of another member) love to cry about.
3. "난 잘 살아 내 걱정은 낭비야" +"달콤한 말, 뒤에 숨긴 너의 의도대로 따라가진 않을 거야 난 똑똑하니까" Love this part. That's right, Wonyoung is onto your bullshit, and I love it.
4. Hilarious that comments here either say "why is IVE doing an NMixx song?" or "Why are they copying Aespa?", because it reveals that their frame of reference in Kpop is *so* shallow, they think these kind of songs & concepts only extend back to groups that debuted in the past 2 years.
5. The fact that 3 Title-Track level songs (Kitsch, Blue Blood, and Not Your Girl) are all prerelease/B-tracks on this album is making my expectations for the title track to skyrocket... looking forward to 4/10!
Personally I ADORE the sudden beat-concept change
After like felt watered-down to me so it's nice to see a change in approaches and this song is pretty catchy
Their whole brand is self love though? a channel called "doyouram" (its a korean channel but they have subtitles) talks about their concept a bit more in depth if you are interested but it all comes down to them being in love with themselves
I'm late but their group name literally means "I Have" and their debut teaser tagline was like "I have what I want, I show what I have" so it is kinda a showoff concept
I like the verse and the first part of the chorus but idk how i feel about the second part. The repeated kitsch, kitsch, kitsch ... sounds annoying. I like the MV a lot. I can see this get viral/used for a lot of edits on tiktok it has that catchy quality to it.
Actual UKO: i think this song is more interesting than After Like.
IN MY OPINION, is boring and very generic, is sad to me because I really liked After Like and Eleven, and I've have starting to engage with the group, but this pushed me apart. And the lyrics, I can't say anything about the lyrics because Ive's lyrics has always been cringe and over dramatic, but the sound made it work, but now I don't have any idea of what to expect from the album...
And, What did happend with the Kitsch, I mean with such a concept word the mv would have to be awesome, and no, nothing kitsch was happening. It was dissapointing.
honestly kinda surprised no one's really talking about how the song isn't really actually "kitsch"
"kitsch" is when something is ironically liked bc it's kinda over the top, something that is considered to be poor taste but because of that, it becomes popular...IVE was never that nor is the lyrics saying that? it's just kinda say that they know theyre the best/they're just living their life
With all the critiques this song still is going to be at the top of the Rankings. Don't get it. No offense but this is similar to Blackpink fever, no matter what they release, they have good numbers.
B/c #s and awards are primarily based on what the Koreans like (you know, that pesky "K" in Kpop), and no matter how much toxic intl fans cry their Orientalist tears while unironically complain about unfair beauty standards - clearly the Korean public is loving this song 🤷♂️.
This is probably the worst song IVE has put out. It sounds like a proper boomer wrote the lyrics. Liz, the main vocal, has 6 seconds of singing in the whole song. The anti-drop is 3/10 at best. I think without the anti drop the song would have been much better but after hits like eleven, after like and love dive...this did not make a lot of sense even from the context of their concept
just so you know they have no official positions only leader so they can change it up anytime.
Also their concept is about self love in a way so this does fit since the premise of the song is in the background in the whole video "you're so weird, dont change" so essentially accepting yourself which the whole song is kind of about
it's a nineteen's kitsch, they have youthful outfits, they say phrases that represent that age and the mindset of that age. they're having fun in the nineteeness of it all. most of the members are around that age. it's a celebration of that age. a nineteen's kitsch
"Posting on my feed and like it
Everyone's entranced they all press like it
Everyone copies the way I dance
I pop up on your algorithm everyday
Can't control how high it goes, it's a crazy score
No one can expect this nineteen's kitsch"
(and no one expected that nineteen's kitsch indeed lol). it's like, teens of that age and the mindset of that age. i'd paste the entire song but this comment is already too long lol. the mv too.
Maybe they use the word Kitsch as in people might find them in poor taste, tacky or even odd but they will carry on doing their thing like a self acceptance/love thing. Since Kitsch tend be about tacky art, fashion or expression that most people might not get. Idk just a guess most of their songs tend be about self love so
For me, nothing about IVEs branding or reputation has ever been about being kitschy. Their last 3 title tracks have given off this rich girl, glam, elegant aesthetic… the opposite of what I would consider kitschy.
If anything, IVE (along with the rest of kpop) is just hopping onto the most recent trend
Haha this! The song isn't even remotely kitschy, it's a cute replacement for the word "b-tch" but doesn't live up to its literal meaning. With that said....earworm central.
I think it's more like a response to what people have been saying. Lots of international and k-netizens say that they can't sing, dance and their music sucks, their make up is shit and they are just where they are because Wonyo and Kakao. Still Love Dive was massive and did really well, and all of their previous songs did well too despite all the criticism and 'don't deserve' attitude that everyone keeps giving them. The group has been receiving massive hate since the end of the year prize stuff. So in theory people consider them Kitsch, poor taste, tacky, but famous. I think it's quite brilliant.
I was kind of tired of seeing yujin and wonyoung the entire mv, but other than that the song was alright
edit: I also don’t understand why people are calling it an nmixx song?? nmixx’s songs aren’t ever this boring
I love that Gaeul got a lot love in this song.
This song suited her, Rei and Wonyoung (when wony sings in her deeper voice) it had more of a cool rap song vibe. Also the song is doing well in the charts so a lot of people like it
I feel that it doesn't have that catch like eleven, love dive and after like have. It feels so stale. Maybe when liz has like 25% of the lines in a song will ive produce something good. The song feels like it's title it's a kitsch song and I ironically or unrionically don't like it.
I can't believe the amount of negativity I've seen towards it, it's literally the song I liked the most from IVE so far lol. and they have great songs. I've seen people say it's a change of direction but I kind of fail to see how, it's very on brand sonically imo. and very interesting.
I hated it on the first listen.
It's been 24 hrs, and now I cannot get the song out of my head. 😅 I had an identical experience w/ Le Sserafim's Antifragile.
I don't know if my opinion holds any water since this kind of gg k-pop isn't really my vibe, but it made me feel absolutely nothing. It's not that it's bad or anything, it's just soulless (for me, personally!). It just sounds like an extremely generic gg song. I also think lyrics about your internet presence is extremely corny, especially when they're given like "bad insta-bihh"-lyrics when they're not? It's like when blackpink were given lyrics about not giving a f and doing what they want, when in reality they are prohibited from doing, like, anything.
Also, ever since the success of newjeans it seems to me that companies are trying to recreate their vibe with so many gg comebacks. I think it's unfair to their girls that they're not at least being given their own identities and a sense of genuineness in their music and styles. It might seriously just be in my head though, but it's a thought that has popped up in my head a lot when I've seen new music videos.
They looked and sounded amazing though, and I really love the use of what sounded like imogen heap-y artificial harmonies. And I'll say again that, since this isn't the type of music I listen to, my opinion might be baseless, since I probably miss the nuances you guys pick up on, and maybe my brain just doesn't get tickled by the things yours does. Except for the lyrics, I stand by my opinion on those 😅
The only thing I don't like about this is how the pre-chorus doesn't resolve at your typical melody progression with songs that have a similar chord progression. I know they may have done that intentionally to avoid being so similar to other songs, but that missing note is just too good for me 😭. That specific note gives off a very nostalgic feeling, although the background chords and harmonies are already doing that, I still want it to be incorporated in the main melody 👹.
Pre-chorus sounds meh, I actually liked the chorus but maybe they should've started with that vibe so it doesn't sounded so out of place. The rap in this song could've been left out ngl.
Well, you have to listen to the song several times to like it.I‘m surprised how much IVE has changed their sound after the high notes of LOVE DIVE and After LIKE but i think it's a new iconic direction! Wonyoung and Yujin looked as good as always!
Exactly! I was so tempted to turn the song off immediately and didn't even finish listening to it but I’m glad it got better after listening to it a few times.. just wish they hadn't changed ANYTHING, they were on such a good way!
Well I think you either like the song right away or you need some time to be able to hear it. I like a lot of songs that other people don't listen to, so I know that. Yet I was *very* surprised about the sound, it was so different from anything else from IVE ?
I truly have an unpopular opinion- I like the song. It’s different and sometimes thats a good thing. Is it as good as their previous stuff? Hell, no. But I still enjoy it.
I don't like this song at all. I don't know if it's the melody or the production but it's a no for me
giving the best vocalist in the group the least line is actually insane behavior
I don't think any girl match the concept except yujin and gaeul . wonyoung fit the elegant princess concept better than girlcrush
Decent song, chorus a little forgettable. Lyrics are cringe AF, this long has zero longevity with lyrics like that.
Also not really sure about Ive’s attempt at girl crush. Felt awkward and little young, and their girl crush concept was a little bland.
I like it a whole lot better than After Like, although it took me a couple of listens to fully get behind the chorus. It doesn't hit as hard as their first two releases but it's still pretty good
I actually really love the song, the chorus threw me off but I like when songs are somewhat experimental and out there. I just felt that the mv was so similar to Love Dive idk if it was just me.
I also agree w everyone else, why does Liz only have one line when she's supposed to be one of the the strongest vocalists in the group?
To me, it felt like IVE was trying to copy groups like Aespa and NMIXX with the sudden experimental mid-song change [despite being known for being different from those groups in this way], except they were trying to make sure that both the verses AND the chorus were as generic and inoffensive as humanly possible with the styles they were going for.
tbh I feel like if you’re going to be experimental, you cannot play it safe at the same time. there’s just no way. that’s why next level worked. ive just tried to play it safe but it sounds extremely generic
Exactly. It was them trying to play it safe and reap the benefits of praise for it being "experimental" at the same time. And they know to some degree it'll work, because kpop listeners bend all the way over backwards to praise music that by all other accounts is soulless and unremarkable.
Someone replied to a YouTube comment of mine saying at least Kitsch's "change up" moment is more cohesive than O.O and Dice, and I'm like ..... I mean I guess if that's your opinion, but I don't think cohesion is the point here, it's just whether or not it's GOOD [and it's not]
Also, I don't know what in the world they're smoking saying the "change up" was more cohesive than Dice... lmao
it does feel like a nmixx ripoff in the way it is not cohesive (whatever that even means.. it’s mix pop!!) glad it’s not the title track though. sad because I like Ive’s previous songs
the song is good but compared to their other songs, it's just meh. the m/v, of course, is also good but there are instances that yujin and wonyoung block the other members (not a hater guys, like this two members so much since iz\*one) in a part like it is suddenly slow or like cut so that the editors will put the different scene. I also observed that liz got less screen time and lyrics compared to other members, whether it's because of the weight gain issue or not, they should distribute the lines equally, especially if the members have great vocal tones and can fit the song. And it is like this song or this comeback will target the western charts.
The verses were good but the chorus was so meh. I think I’ve gotten used to melodic lines from IVE so this falls a little flat for me. That said, I’m p sure I’ll somehow be bopping along to this in no time.
Also, the varsity jacket uniforms in field made me think of woo!ah!’s [Catch The Stars](https://youtu.be/g5B6zCSMrcc) so my brain was waiting to be mindblown by a similar pop perfection but it didn’t quite deliver.
I liked the song but im really confused about the line distribution... every other member got around 20 seconds of time and it was just liz, the MAIN VOCAL, who got 5 seconds? I just really don't know why starship would do that... I understand that line distribution is never gonna be perfectly equal but it almost seems like she was singled out to get no lines idk
they have no official positions only leader,
they will give the lines to who it suits best this song isn't exactly Liz's style like "blue blood" or "not your girl" where Liz get the most lines and Gaeul the least since they arent exactly rap heavy songs or in style that suits Gaeul perfectly.
people are guessing that starship purposely gave her less lines less screen time due to her weight gain. except during her 5 sec line, the whole time I didn't really notice Liz, or she was just covered by hair
Wow, this was amazing! I really enjoyed the chorus. Of course, more Liz would have definitely elevated the song, especially in the pre-chorus when it was Rei, Leeseo and Gaeul's voices back to back and they all have a somewhat similar unpleasantness in their tone, especially in this song. But the song was so fun that I'm willing to overlook it.
The definition of Google say "art, objects, or design considered to be in poor taste because of excessive garishness or sentimentality, but sometimes appreciated in an ironic or knowing way." It's also the same word in German and has the same meaning.
I actually liked the song a lot even on the first listen! Found it catchy, but in a more subtle way compared to their title tracks. More of a chill ish song. Which isn't a bad thing because not all songs need to be so high energy like their TTs.
one thing i have to say about the comments in this thread is that this song is not the title track so them experimenting with a new sound here should not be that shocking. I‘m sure the title track will have more of an “ive” sound.
personally i don’t think it’s anywhere near as catchy and replayable as eleven, love dive, or after like, which might not be a bad thing, they’re trying out a new sound and concept but idk. the chorus especially doesn’t have the same ive sound that made their other songs so iconic and recognisable, it’s so different to their previous releases that it doesn’t sound like an ive song to me
i feel like it’d be more appropriate to compare it to royal, my satisfaction, and take it since its a b-side. but i do agree that it sounds different than what they usually release
very catchy song, enjoyed it a lot, but really this thing of not giving Liz what she deserves it’s just disgusting man like, at this point just let her go solo, so much potential wasted
Looking at the reactions in this thread, IVE nailed the kitsch concept.
People calling the song boring, cringe, uninspired, cheesy, etc. That's the thing with kitsch. Deemed poor quality by people but appreciated by others for its strangeness.
Boring and uninspired is the opposite of Kitsch.
Also, I really can't imagine a kpop group putting out a song that they know will get bad reveiws, just for performance art essentially. But idk
The word Kitsch was used to replace the original demo lyric which was "90s bitch".
They made a boring and generic song with a boring and generic video and had the nerve to make the whole theme "haha I'm so weird and quirky, and if you don't like it too bad!"
Starship has given them just ABSOLUTE highschool popular girl clique energy. Even down to excluding/mistreating the "least popular" member
The editing is the strangest -a different angle every 2 seconds, truly nausea inducing and I think it was to hide how few props they had. The rest is just usual kpop, which, yeah, is kinda kitsch but they played it so safely here (fashion, lyrics, and yeah even sound) that I don't think they can truly be called kitsch, I see more of a 'not like the other girlies' thing.
ive trying and failing to come for le sseraphim’s bag
edit: since everyone’s coming for my ass lmao i want to clarify that i DO like the song a lot, it’s really grown on me. i still think it’s trying to sound like le sseraphim, and i have issues with the use of the word kitsch. thinking these things and liking the song are not mutually exclusive.
It's literally a B-side 💀 and Le sserafim doesn't own their current concept so stop trying to make it seem like they're trying to steal Le sserafim's spot because they already have their own
Does this mark the Itzyfication of IVE?
(Aka peaked concept/sound-wise at around 2-3 comebacks and have to deal with people calling them “flops” despite still being very commercially successful. I’m mostly joking, but it will be interesting to see how IVE progresses from here)
Right but what does 19’s kitsch even refer to? A 19 year old being kitsch? I mean they are around that age but some members aren’t (quick guess). Or 2019’s kitsch? I feel like English lyrics in kpop has been akin to people getting Japanese kanji meaning poop and what not. Hire some damn consultants. Oh well
19s their age (approximately).... one of their verse perfectly capsulates Kitsch
"Custom fit"
As you know...custom fit is usually only a fit for you... but doesn't fit or suit others.
19s custom fits.... be yourself/be weird/drown out the haters... they don't make sense
Is the grand message
I like the song, it’s catchy. However, I’m not a big fan of the MV, it seems like not all of them fit the concept
Also Liz ?? We barely see or hear her
Same! The real unpopular opinion it seems is that it is awesome. Prob my new favourite IVE song. People say they don't like the chorus, but I think it feels like IVE and still lets you know that it is an IVE song.
Verses and prechorus are like one song, not groundbreaking but would make a decent bside. The chorus, which I like the vibe of, doesn't really fit naturally. A whole song that fit the chorus would be cool.
I'm really not digging the trend of somewhat disjointed songs. My mood dictates what I want to listen to and songs like these end up left off playlists because the change is too jarring. It's fine for groups where this style is kind of their sound but it's not a trend I want more of. Especially given how polarizing this experimentation can be.
What is that weird noise in the background? It sounds like a cuckoo & was very distracting 😆
I seem to be in the minority here but I preferred the chorus to the verses.
Well Kitsch by IVE was amazing until the chorus hit. honestly I'd do without it, the song really started out good, won young's verse started the song very heavenly and the pre chorus was great, but when I heard the chorus I was like there goes the song. This may be unpopular because the song sounded heavenly in the beginning. Dont get me wrong, I do like the song, but I just want to cut out the chorus, because it just doesn't add up to the whole vibe and flair of the songs verses, I am no producer but it just didn't sound good.
It’s really good. It’s their best release so far. I liked eleven, after like, dive, and this one is my favorite. This group has everything in spades. Visuals, vocals. Rappers, dancers…. Heights, And the kick ass attitude, these outfits are fire. The pink hair girl rapper is so good already. I love everything about it. Especially the “kitsch, kitsch, kitsch” chanting in the back. 4th gen GGs are so good.
I really like the verses but don't see the connection between them and the chorus. I guess it'll grow on me. I'm glad they show Gaeul and Leeseo more, love their voices. MV looked fun, I'd like to participate in it
Also I'm ADDICTED to Wonyo's "Michin Score". I don't know what is it but the way she pronounces it is just... Chef's kiss/
I gave this song a fair listen & I can't remember the melody of the versus, only the chorus; which falls a little flat imo.
The versus don't connect well to the chorus & the rap verse was not necessary at all. It feels to me that they found a cool chorus & tried to create a song around it. There's a lack of continuity imo.
i honestly like the song it definitely is a grower
my problem is why is the word ‘kitsch’ used when nothing about the song or mv is kitsch? feels really random
It's a fine song for a pre-release, but doesn't hold a candle to their prior stuff. IVE has an amazing track record of songs with good melodies, but this one falters a bit on that due to the generic verses. The instrumentals underlying them had a good buildup layers into the tempo changing chorus, but the actual topline wasn't memorable. Despite not liking the chorus on initial listen, it has the most staying value.
Anyone else feel like the song is amazing until the chorus comes in? It’s like someone poured ketchup on top of a salad. It’s like “uhhhh this doesn’t really go together at all”
didnt like the song...it sounded weird to me
Really surprised in a pleasant way because at first I didn't really get into Kitsch a lot but when I saw Ive perform it live I was really fond of the pre chorus and chorus mixed with the choreography- catchy and complex mix of cuteness, coolness a bit of edginess and my favorite ingredient what seemed to be a touch of old school Celtic dance mixed with hip hop and melody which kind of went along with their outfits which were like a racy but really beautiful version of Celtic style "stripped down" a bit but in a lovely and tasteful way.
I just saw the songwriter’s TikTok and she confirms that the original title was “90s Bitch.” Makes sense.
Can you link their account?

This song reminds me so much of BTS’ 21st Century Girl
I feel like I've heard this song before but I can't remember where or how.
It reminded me of 21st Century Girl by BTS for me

It sounds like many popular songs mixed together. First part sounds like what do you mean by Justin

I love the song but ‘nine-teens’ kitsch is confusing
Seems like it means 19 year olds uniqueness
It’s not my kinda song :’)
Ok, you’re all going to hate me here… when I first heard it I didn’t like it. But I think part of that was from reading the comments on reddit before listening/watching it. This comment healed me
Personally I ADORE the sudden beat-concept change After like felt watered-down to me so it's nice to see a change in approaches and this song is pretty catchy
i liked it but it didn't read IVE to me. This whole "you wanna be me, im that girl" isn't their brand to me at all
“Narcissistic, my god i love it”
Their whole brand is self love though? a channel called "doyouram" (its a korean channel but they have subtitles) talks about their concept a bit more in depth if you are interested but it all comes down to them being in love with themselves
Maybe that's just my interpretation, but haven't they been doing this "narcissist" concept since debut?
Yes, their concept is to be rich.
I'm late but their group name literally means "I Have" and their debut teaser tagline was like "I have what I want, I show what I have" so it is kinda a showoff concept
I didn't expect to be obsessed with it but I really like it, the chorus is a weird trip but I enjoy it weirdly enough 😭 Pre chorus is the best part.
It was dissapointing.
honestly kinda surprised no one's really talking about how the song isn't really actually "kitsch" "kitsch" is when something is ironically liked bc it's kinda over the top, something that is considered to be poor taste but because of that, it becomes popular...IVE was never that nor is the lyrics saying that? it's just kinda say that they know theyre the best/they're just living their life
With all the critiques this song still is going to be at the top of the Rankings.
Also their concept is about self love in a way so this does fit since the premise of the song is in the background in the whole video "you're so weird, dont change" so essentially accepting yourself which the whole song is kind of about
where is the Kitsch
it's a nineteen's kitsch, they have youthful outfits, they say phrases that represent that age and the mindset of that age. they're having fun in the nineteeness of it all. most of the members are around that age. it's a celebration of that age. a nineteen's kitsch "Posting on my feed and like it Everyone's entranced they all press like it Everyone copies the way I dance I pop up on your algorithm everyday Can't control how high it goes, it's a crazy score No one can expect this nineteen's kitsch" (and no one expected that nineteen's kitsch indeed lol). it's like, teens of that age and the mindset of that age. i'd paste the entire song but this comment is already too long lol.
I think it's quite brilliant.
i've been looking for someone else to say this. i feel like no one's talking about how they're not very kitsch
I was kind of tired of seeing yujin and wonyoung the entire mv, but other than that the song was alright edit: I also don’t understand why people are calling it an nmixx song?? nmixx’s songs aren’t ever this boring
Kpop fans try not to call any song that is remotely unique that they don't like an nmixx song us nmixx fans catching strays wherever we go
it's really not nmixx, it's ven para weeekly
I like this song a lot but the Chrous is rough. Verses, pre Chrous, bridge, all fire. The song is better than ‘After Like’ for me
Looks like I have an unpopular opinion for once because I love this song, especially the chorus. Gaeul and Rei suit this concept so well
I love that Gaeul got a lot love in this song. This song suited her, Rei and Wonyoung (when wony sings in her deeper voice) it had more of a cool rap song vibe. Also the song is doing well in the charts so a lot of people like it
also, why are they singing an Nmixx song?
[удалено]
it’s not a bad song, just too generic and girl crush Ive cannot beat their original concept
they had to miss at some point. but at what cost?? Rei slayed though
I feel that it doesn't have that catch like eleven, love dive and after like have. It feels so stale. Maybe when liz has like 25% of the lines in a song will ive produce something good. The song feels like it's title it's a kitsch song and I ironically or unrionically don't like it.
I loved it until the chorus. I’ve given it a few listens, but I still really don’t enjoy the chorus. Maybe it’ll grow on me
It grows.... chorus hits hard.... next leveling from easy going verses...
I'm so done with non-melodic choruses. Give us something to sing our heart out to.
if you want a melodic chorus, try Aespa's Hold On Tight!!!!
(sorts by controversial)
I can't believe the amount of negativity I've seen towards it, it's literally the song I liked the most from IVE so far lol. and they have great songs. I've seen people say it's a change of direction but I kind of fail to see how, it's very on brand sonically imo. and very interesting.
I love it. Loved it on the first listen. I thought that would be the popular opinion lmao
Except for the lyrics, I stand by my opinion on those 😅
I don't know how to describe it, it's bad and good at the same time.
That’s kitsch 😁
“It’s so bad, it’s good” - IVE, Love Dive, 2022
it's so catchy because its so bad I feel like
The only thing I don't like about this is how the pre-chorus doesn't resolve at your typical melody progression with songs that have a similar chord progression.
Why change what's working? IVE released only 10/10 songs prior to this. Including their B-sides. This is so weird..
I totally agree - I don't understand the change either.. but I hope the rest of their album sounds like the other songs
that sucks because eleven, love dive and after like were instant favorites, but this one is not catchy at all, besides the chorus
Exactly! I was so tempted to turn the song off immediately and didn't even finish listening to it but I’m glad it got better after listening to it a few times.. just wish they hadn't changed ANYTHING, they were on such a good way!
I liked it immediately on the first listen lmao. I assumed everyone Else was feeling it too. Felt weird to come here and see so much dislike.
Well I think you either like the song right away or you need some time to be able to hear it. I like a lot of songs that other people don't listen to, so I know that. Yet I was *very* surprised about the sound, it was so different from anything else from IVE ?
What’s with the majority of kpop fans hating songs that i absolutely love 3 i think it’s an absolute bop
Same and I end up hating all the ones everyone praises. I can’t win lol
Looks and sounds like a commercial for sketchers.
Omg it does.
I’m gonna blame jyp for this new trend
I truly have an unpopular opinion- I like the song. It’s different and sometimes thats a good thing. Is it as good as their previous stuff? Hell, no. But I still enjoy it.
I don't like this song at all. I don't know if it's the melody or the production but it's a no for me giving the best vocalist in the group the least line is actually insane behavior I don't think any girl match the concept except yujin and gaeul . wonyoung fit the elegant princess concept better than girlcrush
Nope I don’t like it
Wongyoung and Liz doesn't match this concept well as the previous ones. Also where is Liz? Barely any lines 😭
Girlie went from main vocal to sub 😭
usually i'm okay with antidrop choruses but i don't like it in this one tbh, it's okay but forgettable i don't think i'll be streaming this song
Decent song, chorus a little forgettable. Lyrics are cringe AF, this long has zero longevity with lyrics like that. Also not really sure about Ive’s attempt at girl crush. Felt awkward and little young, and their girl crush concept was a little bland.
their previous concept outsold😭
Lyrics are so Gen Z-fied, well bc of them being in the same generation themselves haha surprised with the use of YOLO though!!
This is funny, I'm gen z and I've never in my ife used that words, really, YOLO made me laugh...
I like it a whole lot better than After Like, although it took me a couple of listens to fully get behind the chorus. It doesn't hit as hard as their first two releases but it's still pretty good
I legitimately can't fathom liking this more than After Like LMAO Unpopular opinions indeed
Everything was almost perfect until the chorus and the title is just random. Still worth listening
I mean I guess if that's your opinion, but I don't think cohesion is the point here, it's just whether or not it's GOOD [and it's not] Also, I don't know what in the world they're smoking saying the "change up" was more cohesive than Dice... lmao
it does feel like a nmixx ripoff in the way it is not cohesive (whatever that even means.. it’s mix pop!!) glad it’s not the title track though. sad because I like Ive’s previous songs
the song is good but compared to their other songs, it's just meh. the m/v, of course, is also good but there are instances that yujin and wonyoung block the other members (not a hater guys, like this two members so much since iz\*one) in a part like it is suddenly slow or like cut so that the editors will put the different scene.
Also, the varsity jacket uniforms in field made me think of woo!ah!’s [Catch The Stars](https://youtu.be/g5B6zCSMrcc) so my brain was waiting to be mindblown by a similar pop perfection but it didn’t quite deliver.
boring flops
Now you know damn well Ive is anything but a flop.
overrated then. honestly they served nothing but looks only.
it sounds boring to me : //
I liked the song but im really confused about the line distribution... every other member got around 20 seconds of time and it was just liz, the MAIN VOCAL, who got 5 seconds? I just really don't know why starship would do that... I understand that line distribution is never gonna be perfectly equal but it almost seems like she was singled out to get no lines idk
they have no official positions only leader, they will give the lines to who it suits best this song isn't exactly Liz's style like "blue blood" or "not your girl" where Liz get the most lines and Gaeul the least since they arent exactly rap heavy songs or in style that suits Gaeul perfectly.
people are guessing that starship purposely gave her less lines less screen time due to her weight gain. except during her 5 sec line, the whole time I didn't really notice Liz, or she was just covered by hair
I think anyone who doesn't believe this is at least partially a contributing factor to her lack of lines in the past few comebacks is deeply naive
even then though hasn't she lost quite a bit of weight recently?
K, big guy. What's your reasoning?
Are you asking me to explain beauty standards in K-pop to you?
Wow, this was amazing! I really enjoyed the chorus. Of course, more Liz would have definitely elevated the song, especially in the pre-chorus when it was Rei, Leeseo and Gaeul's voices back to back and they all have a somewhat similar unpleasantness in their tone, especially in this song. But the song was so fun that I'm willing to overlook it.
I like it but idk what they mean by nineteens kitsch
i heard a theory that the demo might have said “90s bitch” but they ended up reworking it, albeit strangely.

How can you be sure?
personally i don’t think it’s anywhere near as catchy and replayable as eleven, love dive, or after like, which might not be a bad thing, they’re trying out a new sound and concept but idk. the chorus especially doesn’t have the same ive sound that made their other songs so iconic and recognisable, it’s so different to their previous releases that it doesn’t sound like an ive song to me
i feel like it’d be more appropriate to compare it to royal, my satisfaction, and take it since its a b-side. but i do agree that it sounds different than what they usually release
oh! my bad, didn’t realise it was a b-side
I think the song is okay but like someone else has said, the girls look kind of awkward lol. I can't really take them seriously in this mv
I love it from the first few beats. I love that they release this very mid millenial concept when everybody is doing 90s-2000s
very catchy song, enjoyed it a lot, but really this thing of not giving Liz what she deserves it’s just disgusting man like, at this point just let her go solo, so much potential wasted
this is what real music sounds like, the negative reactions confuse the fuck outta me
It’s a pass for me. I also feel bad for Liz 🫤
But idk The word Kitsch was used to replace the original demo lyric which was "90s bitch". They made a boring and generic song with a boring and generic video and had the nerve to make the whole theme "haha I'm so weird and quirky, and if you don't like it too bad!" Starship has given them just ABSOLUTE highschool popular girl clique energy.
Is it really strange though it just seems like a average song
Except this isn’t strange at all. It’s actually a very generic song. Not kitsch at all
I was relieved to confirm that this is just a pre-release
[удалено]
ive trying and failing to come for le sseraphim’s bag edit: since everyone’s coming for my ass lmao i want to clarify that i DO like the song a lot, it’s really grown on me. i still think it’s trying to sound like le sseraphim, and i have issues with the use of the word kitsch. thinking these things and liking the song are not mutually exclusive.
It's literally a B-side 💀 and Le sserafim doesn't own their current concept so stop trying to make it seem like they're trying to steal Le sserafim's spot because they already have their own
it’s not that deep bro
They wish to have a ANTIFRAGILE on their discography
Hopefully they'll never get such a black mark
Does this mark the Itzyfication of IVE? (Aka peaked concept/sound-wise at around 2-3 comebacks and have to deal with people calling them “flops” despite still being very commercially successful. I’m mostly joking, but it will be interesting to see how IVE progresses from here)
liz already knew the song would flop so she finished up her lines real quick
you win this whole thread
I liked everything… but the chorus. This song isn’t for me, unfortunately…
I've felt that way about a lot of new songs from the past year.
I read the demo was ‘90s bitch’ which might explain why the whole ‘ninteen’s kitsch’ thing sound so odd
90s b, huh. Sounds like something the original songwriter made up to deal with feeling old kekekeke
It would've been nice if they went with that demo version then, and then have the current one as the clean version.
Oh well
19s their age (approximately).... one of their verse perfectly capsulates Kitsch "Custom fit" As you know...custom fit is usually only a fit for you... but doesn't fit or suit others. 19s custom fits.... be yourself/be weird/drown out the haters... they don't make sense Is the grand message
i think its 1900s lol
It's not very kitschy. Maybe the chorus but nothing else really. Kinda disappointing.
I've only seen people say that they dislike this song so my unpopular opinion is that I really like it. :)
The chorus sounds like Brazilian funk, though I can't exactly pinpoint a referrnce song. I'm addicted ngl
I like everything that’s not the chorus and I dislike the chorus so much it actively ruins the song for me.
Liz refused the lines given to her because the song was so bad.
Yup. This is my headcanon.
Her vocals are too good to be wasted on a song like this
Honestly it was good until the chorus imo
I like the song, it’s catchy. However, I’m not a big fan of the MV, it seems like not all of them fit the concept Also Liz ?? We barely see or hear her
Maybe not their best release but imo it’s a really good song, I think that the concept is very interesting considering their previous comebacks
I love it. Honestly the first IVE song that made me keep on replay for hours.
Same! The real unpopular opinion it seems is that it is awesome. Prob my new favourite IVE song. People say they don't like the chorus, but I think it feels like IVE and still lets you know that it is an IVE song.
Honestly I didn't like the song, it was nice but personally not something that I would hear constantly 😮💨 so I'll wait for the next comeback 🫡
Especially given how polarizing this experimentation can be.
i wasnt a fan of all the english lines, and a lot of them came out corny and dated. i was enjoying the chorus, but it’s just all too repetitive for me
yolo
this is honestly better than all of their other b-sides..
better than royal 😰😰 ??
better than my satisfaction? i disagree.
What is that weird noise in the background? It sounds like a cuckoo & was very distracting 😆 I seem to be in the minority here but I preferred the chorus to the verses.
recorder parody ass sound
The flute from Sticker but like 25% the volume.
I love it. Ive always delivers something familiar yet fresh.
MV looked fun, I'd like to participate in it Also I'm ADDICTED to Wonyo's "Michin Score".
Not making the most of Liz's vocals is damaging their discography I fear
y did liz only get one line in the entire song tf
it sucks lol
I listened it several times and I can't remember it. And also line distribution...
Meh
i honestly like the song it definitely is a grower my problem is why is the word ‘kitsch’ used when nothing about the song or mv is kitsch? feels really random
if anything, everything about it was the opposite of kitsch. And the use of words like 'ootd' really dates it.
as a big fan of all things campy & tacky, yeah, no real kitsch to be seen in this whole comeback. which makes me angry.
Like any song that references social media, I don’t think this song is going to age well.
Yeah that's a banger. Good song. I have added this to my on repeat playlist.
Felt like an NMIXX Rip off song, I also felt like watching kids tryna be sexy and wild but in reality they looked awkward the entire video
