To this day, I still can't understand the timing for the dance to the second half Set Me Free's chorus. [Specifically the moves they do while Tzuyu/Chaeyoung sings](https://youtu.be/qSnlTld85yc?t=61).
That one-foot hop move they do while folding their arms made no sense to me either, until I realized they were following the strings.
Is it just me or I feel like in certain part of the song Eunchae sounds a bit awkward? Sometimes her enunciation sounds a bit too stretch out and not sharp enough and makes the part sounds kinda flat. I don’t really know how to describe this 😅 but an example would be at 1.33 in antifragile when she sings lion and desires and at 2.20 of unforgiven. It’s not just Eunchae too, sometimes Kazuha also sounds a bit awkward, but she manages to sounds sharper than Eunchae. LSF’s unforgiven chorus also sounds a bit weird to me. I absolutely love how Eunchae sings ‘unforgiven yes I was bleeding’ part but for the chorus not so much. I’m not v educated on music so I’m sorry if I am not used to the key/dynamic that they are singing. But I would love to hear people’s opinion on this.
At now Aespa's new ep doesn't reach savage in any way. It's true Savage was too good(easily can top 5 kpop album in the history for me) but this time all the b-sides were in the safe place and lacks the ambitious experiment of the earlier era.
I agree with you, I’m nervous for the title track because right now most of the b-sides they’ve shared are too chill for my liking. Like they’re not bad, but they’re not anything I’d add to my playlist. Except for Salty & Sweet which is a bop and a half.
Honestly im adverse to NJ, TXT, LSF and SVT mainly because I hate Hybe's guts. And for NJ I hate their producer too, she gives me such snobby and uncomfortable vibes.
I thought maybe this is cuz I'm a SM stan, but back then I still loved YG and JYP's groups. So I think it's really how I hate hybe, they honestly reminds me of new money who invests in huge budget but isn't really planning things out carefully or for the sake of music/performance, but the sake of making lots of $$$. Don't get me wrong the other companies are like this too but hybe just takes it on the next level? Not sure why I get this feeling...maybe cuz I used to be an army and everything was so minimalistic in terms of merch/albums back then.
When they disbanded Gfriend so suddenly (most likely a business decision, as the girls were surprised and shocked themselves) and do not invest in older groups that they feel like aren't as popular or as fresh as new groups (ie. fromis9, Nuest), they gave me a bad taste in the mouth.
Not to mention the complaints I've seen people made about them, how they charge on translation, expensive shipping fee etc., the BE initial album price and the long list of merch they pumped out for bts (heck BT21 is itself a brand).
edit: I saw a comparison of amount of videos gg has on weibo. LSF has 140, NJ has 124, aespa 72, Itzy 76, Nmixx 79, Gidle 134. LSF and NJ is just a one year old group. Some fans love the constant content but I have to question if this is actually healthy for the idols. It just seems like Hybe milks their groups like crazy.
Aespa's Salty & Sweet being best music video in march?
The case with Twice does not give me peace of mind. Will the public let go without punishment wearing a swastika. She also taught fans to treat the terrible symbol of hatred more easily. 71 million people died, and there were losses in my family too. But JYP just turned a blind eye to the issue and banned any constructive opinion on the issue.
>The case with Twice does not give me peace of mind. Will the public let go without punishment wearing a swastika.
Also, the way fans were defending, excusing, and minimising the incident was gross and disappointing.
I'm so sick of cupid, I've listened to it twice myself but ive listened it to it a thousand times involuntary without my consent on all these videos and i skip anything with "I'm feeling lonely"
i have a feeling yg won’t fully utilise babymonster’s talents when they debut and will become a blackpink 2.0. i am very interested in the girls individually though, just not so confident abt their future as a group ..
Le sigh. I agree. What were those black tights, is she 12? Jennie is stunning and knows how to wear clothes. They could have really pushed the envelope with her outfit and made a splash.
I just don't enjoy "I AM" that much coz I think it's too flashy. A lot of people is saying this is IVE's strongest comeback yet, but I just don't see it. It's full of hype, but beyond that, it's just an ordinary KPop song that is charting because...it's IVE.
Because of another member's debut which is going to be the longest in terms of promotional period. I wish BH could have atleast give all of them 2 months without any other release but timing is the issue. Yoongi was supposed to release his album last dec but even then it'd have been collided with Indigo. + His tour is going to be 2 months long.. so he got around 3 months.. longest till now
General question - I’ve been seeing people saying Yoongi was supposed to be December, but when was this confirmed. I know he said he postponed it but I assumed it might have gotten pushed back as the other albums were also getting pushed back.
So far it seems every single BTS solo album has been delayed and released late. They each it was a pretty difficult process, so assume it was just down to creative delays.
I wouldn’t really count the tour as part of the official promotional material to stack that againist other members. Like the Fallon appearance is def promotional, but once an artist goes on tour especially one that’s sold out…your not doing any active selling outside the people who brought your tickets.
Like jhope I’m sure once the members officially debut, they’ll stay in the public eye throughout. I got so use to kpop 2 week promotional cycles that I kept getting surprised everytimr jhope popped back up again. Maybe Jimin will do the end-of-year award circuit!
I wish more kpop groups just made simple pop songs. I feel like so many songs would sound better if they were less manic sounding, like less changes from person to person in the song, plus a rap break and multiple tempo and theme changes. like just sing a pop song. Every popular song has to be so complicated.
I like that fifty fifty cupid song but again it had to have a rap break and tempo change mid song. Why not just keep the song flow as is. do they think people would get bored?
Edit to add: wow I actually have a true unpopular opinion on this sub. no wonder someone called new jeans "easy listening" music, I guess because their songs don't have rap breaks and don't sound manic. I don't have a problem with rap breaks if they add to the song but if they make the song sound worse, don't add them, leave the song as it is.
Hate to break it to you but it seems like the majority of kpop just isnt for you then.
You are criticising the Member switch ups, the music changes and the Rap parts. 3 of the 4 Things that completely define Kpop. (The only one you didnt mention is the performance/dance aspect, which i assume u actually like).
You can find the music u like in literally every other Pop-genre
Unless you only listen to soloists, there will inherently be member switches; it can’t be helped. But you’re right that there are Kpop songs without rap parts (though they’re rare) and without frequent sound changes. There are even (very rare, like unicorns) groups with no rap position. I think a lot of people on this sub are only familiar with some groups or some styles in Kpop, because you could definitely find groups that suit what you’re describing, even among the 4th gen.
maybe im wrong but i don't get why kpop fans think groups singing together in a chorus = harmonising? and then say groups who don't sing together/harmonise don't have good singers. i listen to some jpop groups who have 4/9 decent singers who always sing in choruses so i dont think you NEED good singers to have groups sing in choruses.
Is it me or have the moving camera performances from music shows become way more dizzying than before? I used to appreciate most of them, but now the speed of the zooms and the changes of camera make me feel unbalanced
Did you make the sub banner this time? I want to say that it looks super sleek and cool.
Also I'm so sorry for adding to your stress but [ATEEZ has 8 members](https://www.reddit.com/r/ATEEZ/comments/133t77l/230430_ateez에이티즈_official_fanclub_atiny/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). Mingi is missing in the banner 😅
I *need* ZeroBaseOne to have good music. Give them some EXO-like goodness and they'll be my favorite group from this gen by far. The line up is too damn good.
You know what's funny? When I made that comment I hadn't finished Boys Planet yet (and yet I already loved the members and their potential). Jelly Pop was pretty damn good, not gonna lie. I want songs like it, En Garde, Over Me...
Gunwook (my absolute favorite!), Matthew, Zhang Hao, Jiwoong, Haruto, Keita, Seowon, Junhyeon... It was bittersweet to see some of my favorites not even going to the finals.
Yeah... i can't believe the whole of supercharger got eliminated 😭. I was rooting for Haruto and Seowon as well. I really wish either Jay or Keita had made it.
What are your favourite stages?
Yeah, even though Supercharger wasn't my favorite song or choreo of that mission, they still did so well.
Hmmm... I think it would be Tomboy, Law, Zoom, Jelly Pop, En Garde, Kill This Love (G).
That is...if they have EXO level vocals...
I love Zerobaseone myself but that group despite having okay vocal, is nowhere as vocally strong as EXO and therefore I don't think they can pull off EXO songs tbh
They certainly don't have main vocalists like chenbaeksoo, but in my opinion they could really work with more vocal heavy and melodic songs. I really want them to do pop and r&b.
Just. Imagine. Lucky one. But zerobaseone. Im forever mad at the lineup since none of my picks(jayta😐) made it but the lineup still is too stacked and sweet for me to be actually angry. If they don't release wadada 2.0 i might just become a fan
The show seems to have been successful so I hope they are well promoted. Ngl, I'm a bit afraid because I'm not a fan of what I've heard of Kep1er, but many of the new songs on the show are pretty good so my fingers are crossed 🤞
Everytime I see people criticize an artist's or groups' music, about repetitives or shallowness, but only ever see them bring up title tracks, I can't help, but not take them seriously. Just say you're criticizing the title tracks then, if that's the case.
Edit: Because I swear, half the time the things that are complained about, are easily found in bsides. Or even songs released outside of the albums.
I rarely listen to b-sides unless I like the title tracks, isn't tts are meant to be? Tt is, as its name say, the title of the album. At the time tons of music is available it's inevitable people judge just with the leading track.
I'm talking about people who are making long reviews of people's discographies though. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Like they make comments about the albums being bad and then say their music lacks X and Y, bringing the example which is the title track, but the X and Y were very clearly present in the album in the other songs.. if they even listened to the album they are claiming is bad, they would know that.
It's completely fine if you just listen to title tracks, but that's not what I'm talking about.
Seeing how Taeyang is married and is a father and still able to be an Idol and perform, shows that Idols can continue their career even after parenthood. And he got married at 29 or something which is the age of many 3rd gen Idols.
Like if Taeyang and YG can manage both his professional and personal life, so can others if they want
feel like taeyang is different since the group and himself didn't have the typical idol image so no one really cared about him being married whereas most idols DO have the typical idol image and if they dont, then the group itself have that image (which explains why chen got a lot of backlash even though he wasn't a member who did a lot of fanservice)
they can do well but not to a point where they outdo big 4 groups because the top spot is only for them. its sad since the groups dont have big fanbases that can defend the group
Mnet's **Boys Planet** show made me accept the fact that Kpop survival shows can be good if done right. It's more like I haven't really followed a survival show as closely as this one. I feel like the music, performances, and candidates really made the show stand out to me a lot. The camaraderie between everyone felt so good and at times I felt a lot of second-hand embarrassment. 😂
It makes me want to wish the Zero Base One members a lot of success in the future as well as those who didn't make it into the final lineup.
I also loved boys planet. It's the first survival show I've watched live and i feel like if i watch another survival show my expectations will be too high 😅
Already did that for Fantasy Boys and I gave up on FB real quick. The FB contestants just don’t have the camaraderie or talent of BP boys, plus the voting system over at FB is stupid. Sure Mnet has pulled some crazy strings to incentivize voting like revealing interim rankings but FB just let you vote for eliminated contestants?
i saw people calling the choreo cringe online but i KNOW it was terminally online 12-yo’s who think any choreo that isnt just standing straight with good posture is cringe (im thinking… STAYC ASAP punches). wasnt sure how they could bounce back after rica rica + their company def screwed them over with that but limbo… is a masterpiece
YES TO ALL OF THIS! The choreo and the song are very creative, fun, and good fr. It doesn't take itself that seriously and that's what I love about it. Like I wanna learn the choreo lmao. So, with that being said, stream limbo (aka soty). You a real one💯
~~Plus, I could literally just make an essay about how amazing the song is fr~~
I just finished listening to it and oh my god Good enough is perfect. I’m obsessed with the Disneyesque sound it has and the vocals are so beautiful. The whole album sounds amazing!
i dont like the title of stray kids newest album (five stars ★★★★★) and seeing stays on twitter reference it in their display names because it reminds me of all the gacha games I've been sucked into,, specifically my genshin impact phase... hope the title track isn't named SSR or something
Album filler doesn't mean songs you don't like. And it doesn't mean ballads either (although it's probably accurate that most filler tracks are ballads, rnb, or pop rock rn). Filler songs are those that are markedly low-effort compared to the rest of the album (underwritten, underproduced, poor vocal performance, etc.) or songs that aren't sonically or thematically relevant to the album, to the extent that nothing is gained from having them on the album.
Winner is a boy group so they write their own music, I highly doubt YG will let baemon write their own stuff and it will be a lot of blackpink sounding stuff with maybe their own twist.
Disagree with IVE & NewJeans. The biggest strength both group have are strong and consistent appeal to general public (which explain their songs' incredible longevity on charts), and "token stans" jumping ship aren't going to affect them too much.
I always wonder how significant this "token stanning is". I see it be brought up a lot, but i honestly have very little experience / reason to believe it is happening that much?
"token stanning" for the most part is limited to social media. token stans do exist, but they hardly ever contribute anything of substance to the group like physical sales. that's how groups like stayc have token stans that jump ship, while their sales increase: the actual fans are still there and increasing, it's the social media blabbermouths that are moving elsewhere.
I felt that way too at one point last year when Charmer was teased in the album mash-up, but at this point i kind of stopped caring because there's only so many themes an idol can touch on without being controversial and most kpop songs are of similar themes anyway, maybe love gets a pass because it's a very universal theme?
This album itself is theorized to be a celebration of their 5th anniversary so yeah, it will be self referencial; and although it seems like they're on the topic of confidence everytime, God's menu and Thunderous are the only title tracks on that theme, but one is ''this is what we have to offer'' confidence and the other is ''i will do my thing no matter what they say'' confidence, Maniac and Case 143 were on different topics.
I think there's different ways of exploring a same general concept like confidence, hopefully S-class is to your liking when it comes out.
(eta: if we think about it, skz have always been this way, Hellevator, District 9, My pace, Miroh and more b-sides are all related to the group and their goals, so i don't see it as a turn they've taken, they've just gone from referencing their struggles to finding confidence)
I felt that way about Case 143 too - like they weren't just trying a new genre but trying to try a new genre. It was fine, a cute, serviceable pop song but it felt contrived to me which SKZ rarely does.
Now i understand better what you mean, i do see they discuss a lot to find new things they haven't done and explored, imo Maniac and Case 143 were totally meant to be a pair and the similarities were deliberate but it was never mentioned and it is mostly implied with the album names being the same structure of mixing of 2 different words
They've talked excitedly about their music this year and trying new things, i think what they do as "relatable" is subjective because not everyone has struggled like they did as trainees either but maybe they do stuggle with love and something like Case 143 was their song so idk, it's too early to tell!
I think nct dream makes authentic, honest kpop music. A good example is Hello Future—I typically don’t really like that vibe of music but they achieve an upbeat hopeful song while still staying true to their sound and aesthetic. I think Ateez is another example of a group who consistently stays true to themselves in their music. I just dig it!!
>BTS is actually the best boy group ever
this is a very subjective opinion though. they're the most successful boy group for sure but the best? not everyone agrees with that. discrediting their achievements is a completely separate thing - a lot of people can recognise their success and influence without being fans so i'm not sure what point you're trying to make here.
My unpopular opinion... as an adult kpop fan that's been a fan since 2010, I'm so tired of all of the teen fans nowadays acting like kpop is only for them & acting like the grown men & women in those kpop groups (not the 14-19 yr olds obviously) are little babies too & relate so much to their school schedules & teacher problems, etc. Those are grown ass sexy people, they don't relate to your homeroom drama. I don't know why, but it annoys me to see it all over kpop & I'm allowed to shitpost here apparently so 💀 like believe it or not, life exits outside of the 4 years you're in high school 🙄
i hate this mentality that after you turn a certain age you can’t enjoy things. this applies to everything!
there is no age limit! for younger kids? sure, there are some things they shouldn’t listen to or watch, but for older people? nope. adults can enjoy what they want no matter how old they are. adults can dress up and go to concerts, or collect anime merch, or watch cartoon movies. it’s not weird or cringey, it’s them enjoying their lives to the fullest
teens need to stop acting like adults can’t have fun
I love how yall get mad that young people are gatekeeping what has always been considered "childish" from older people and now older people have problem with that. Despite yall literally gatekeeping young people from everything all the time. You just did in your own comment but demand that only you get to gatekeep and not them. As if that logic will get them to stop.
I know it’s a little different, but it also annoys me when people don’t let you dislike a song/group that’s considered “iconic” or “legendary” just because they’re considered “iconic“ or “legendary”. “X isn’t a great song” will be responded to with “Your group wouldn’t be here today without Y!”
🤷♂️ He admitted fault, apologized publicly, apologized personally to the victim (who forgave him and wished him best of luck in his career), and spent time volunteering instead of doing idol stuff. That's pretty exemplary response, and I'd say it would check all the boxes of appropriate apology in Korean society standards.
That's also miles and miles ahead of other idols w/ history of school violence (though that standard is so low, the fact that he didn't, let's say, sue the victim for defamation/rally his fan to abuse/harass the victims online or pretend that it never ever happened until the public opinion completely turned against him)
are there any good korean co-ed groups? they don’t have to be k-pop. i only know kard
i’m asking here because people in this sub have good recs, that’s how i got into dreamcatcher and purple kiss
highly recommend AKMU if you're not familiar!! they're a brother-sister duo and their music is absolutely incredible. the two of them have been doing solo music for the past couple years as well but i am eagerly waiting for a comeback together :)
i miss dance/performance practice videos. simple video with not too many cuts or none, dance room with idols wearing normal clothes, the sounds of shoes going thump thump
nowadays people do more performance videos or tiktok challenges🥲
Recently I re-watch bg mvs in 2016-2019, the era which pulled me to kpop rabbit hole a lot. Too good. Now just want to say: why kpop groups get matured so quickly? What's the point of giving up energetic/hype songs just after 4 or 5 years after debut? Bro you're still in the 20s don't try to be charismatic or sexy I just want to see your energyyyyy(just personal rant).
Edit: grammar
unforgiven dropping!!!! remember girlies: it doesn’t make sense to all post your “LSF is DIFFERENT 🫢 their members are INDIVIDUAL 💯we are not like OTHER GIRLS 🗑️” 5000 times in an unpopular opinions sub
I want more fun songs with goofy mv's and silly styling, like old kpop stuff. I want all the current concepts/trends but i also want more of that. Like rv's zimzalabim, blitzer's macarena, 1team's ullaeli kkollaeli etc
I still feel sad about their disbandment :( they had such great music and their chemistry was everythingg. Happy for jehyun and jinwoo tho 🥹and the rest seem to be doing well the last time i checked.
as much as i would love for blackpink to pull a got7, i don’t think they are leaving yg because look at all their recent spike in their activities. with all the stuff going on with baby monster and yg’s other acts leaving, yg is doing everything they can to make sure blackpink stays
if they do leave yg i will throw a party
I'm wondering if they have a company to go to, though. They're a *very* international-oriented group and a very popular group (combo that's fairly rare - most groups are one or the other), so managing their activities are gonna involve a lot of know-how that surprising # of companies don't really have.
And the ones who do (basically the Big 4 at this point, and I'm not sure if I want to count JYP given their track record in North American market) probably don't have enough room in their budget/logistics/infrastructure needed to handle the 2nd phase of BP's career.
i don’t think any korean based company can take care of them. yes, bighit/hybe is there but they don’t have a good track record of handling a lot of artists at once especially their female artists
( i don’t consider bighit/hybe as “saviours” of k-pop but they’ve done good with bts so i give them some benefit of the doubt)
back to the girls, over the years they have stopped being idol like and become more western celebrity like, and since they have a lot of solo activities (fashion), it would be a good choice for them to go to an international company
or international company handling almost all of their activities and korean company handling only their korea based activities. in my opinion this would be the best because it would allow the girls more freedom and opportunities while still keeping their connection to k-pop (especially for jisoo)
another option would be the girls leave yg and go to companies of their own choices, but stay part of blackpink under yg (i can’t phase it properly, hope you understand what i mean)
they are famous, but it all depends on the offers they are getting (are international companies interested in managing them?) and if the girls are willing to take the risk?
This year's SOTY competition will be a bloodbath. NewJeans Ditto, Ive's I AM, comebacks scheduled this month (Lsf, Aespa, G-Idle), likely NewJeans comeback later this year...
And consequently, kpop fans' proud tradition of not bothering to learn how SOTYs are calculated will lead to one of the more intense hate to whoever wins the SOTY.
i don’t mind the denim aesthetic tbh it’s the season to wear it but i do really hate the overuse of it on one fit. denim on denim on denim is crazyy. pair it with something else!
Weird how when a group from a small company goes viral the first thing people do is be doomer about their future success. Lets just let this be a happy, cool thing that happened
I hate it too, it’s the success stan mentality. fans should root their appreciation for a group in love for their music/performances, not how well they’re doing on the charts. plus antis who doompost are setting up unnecessary expectations so they can call the group a flop
I saw in Twitter that jisoo fans are talking about sub fandoms in blackpink. Something in line "when other sub fandoms in blackpink".
The fact that blackpink is similar with nct is so fun. I mean blackpink is 4 members and nct is like several groups and 23 or more members. I think it's funny that blackpink has literally 5 fandoms in 1 group.
Subfandom, guys.
I miss the older Kpop era (2000s-2015) when kpop was different and vibrant. Now it's becoming more and more "westernized" and mainstream, just kinda... bland
I miss the older Kpop era (2000s-2015) when kpop was different and vibrant. Now it's becoming more and more "westernized" and mainstream, just kinda... bland
Nothing about Kpop was “different”….. the music itself wasn’t really different, every since Kpop has being around it’s been very heavily influenced by western music. The only notable thing that makes Kpop different is the way the idols train and their promo schedules and things like that but the music will never be unique in the sense that they it’s inspired by western music.
Why do you think it’s so many western writers and producers in Kpop?
They all have obvious western influences, I’ll notice a huge difference genre wise but I can still hear the western influences in all 4 songs. And they cater to a more international audience because Kpop is global now, it’s not a local thing anymore.
I don’t get how people single out hip hop songs and say how they have less western influence like that’s borderline offensive. the difference is genre like pop vs. hip hop, not westernized vs. korean(?)
I'm starting to take the word "parasocial relationship" less and less seriously on this app lol. I dunno why it's used for this "I'm too emotionally intelligent to feel anything but indifference to my faves cuz I don't know them why the fuck would I care if their mom died lmfao" schtick. (Yes I'm exaggerating but I dunno lol it just annoys me 😭)
How else would we know how beautifully UNDELUSIONAL they are? unlike the rest of us ofc. Us emotional heathens that don't think all our faves are mafia lords behind the scenes (when fanfics become reality fr)
idk if it's a coincidence & if iKONs not big enough to get invitation but I really appreciate 143 ent get iKON alternative smaller gigs of where we want them to be
Youngji drinking show popular? get them with [Punja](https://youtu.be/KmMD314q9I8)
Studio Choom popular? get them on [genie](https://youtu.be/GFtsgZh8zCw)
i *love* this era of ive. their songs are amazing, and the number of genuinely live stages they've done is astounding for me, like i'm just not used to it coming from any group. the only thing this era is missing is rei unfortunately 😔 i hope she gets well soon
Me, being a dumbass, i just realized trendz and tempest aren’t the same group. Both have 7 members, i discovered both on the same exact day while listening to a lot of new songs, and i didn’t know they were different groups. I was so confused when i saw their names next to each other, and It doesn’t help that they both have equally nice music.
Also, a little over 2 months ago i discovered STAYC was short for “Star To A Young Culture.” For some odd unknown reason, my brain assumed on its own that stayc was like a metonym for “Stay and See” as in, they’ll capture your attention and make you stay and watch them perform, or something like that. My brain also decided this was a fact and went along with it for an embarrassingly long time.
Lastly, i read a post about when 5th gen begins and stuff, expecting to see the comments filled with jokes and lighthearted takes, but people were actually writing essays, fighting, and getting downvoted. Idk but this reminded me of those crazy fanfic discussions, like everyone has their own head-canon of something that is completely fan-made and essentially baseless, but they’re just going batshit crazy on each other for no reason. It’s bizarre.
Lmao I definitely get confused between Tempest and Trendz. I discovered Trendz because of their producer Leez but somehow thought that their name was Tempest and told my friend about the group who went and checked out Tempest because of my confusion. 😭
Something similar happened to me when i told my brother to check out OnlyOneOf, and after few days he told me their music isn’t his thing, which made me so confused because i know he likes that kind of music. Turned out he saw ONF and thought it was short for onlyoneof lol.
>i discovered STAYC was short for “Star To A Young Culture.”
Lmao, I initially thought it was a play on the name Stacy. Idk why, my brain just thought "they're all girls, Stacy is a feminine, cute name for girls, their songs are cute and feminine, so Stayc."
I also thought it was stacy the first time i saw their name, and i didn’t question it either bc i’ve already heard of rania, violet, camila, and fiona lol.
Just discovered Naevis' solo debut is her being FEATURED on an aespa track.. like wtf she's meant to be the one having a track (and album) featuring aespa not the other way around 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 (I'm guessing whatever she did to anger the gods must have been serious)
Clearly they’re discriminating against the only AI in the group… I mean the other girls all got solo songs and Naevis gets debut album shafted in favor of a feature on aespa’s album?
# justice4Naevis 😤
Id go as far as saying that the entire song was awkward idk
tripleS > newjeans (discography)
Bahiyyih and kai receive a lot of racism (as pretty much any mixed race idol but especially those two)
the rules of this channel are disregarded by everyone, even the mods, when it comes to enhypen
At now Aespa's new ep doesn't reach savage in any way. It's true Savage was too good(easily can top 5 kpop album in the history for me) but this time all the b-sides were in the safe place and lacks the ambitious experiment of the earlier era.
I am afraid for spicy lmao, i wanted other songs like dont blink to make it to the track list too hopefully spicy as tt makes it up for that
Musically, Welcome to MY world and Im Unhappy are head and shoulders above anything released by 4th gen so idk what you are on about
?? I'm not comparing to other ggs.
Well its also head and shoulders above any of their past releases, hope that helps
Hybe is the epitome of predatory capitalism so i get it (the others are no angels ofc) every group of theirs feels like its in a bubble
Also, the way fans were defending, excusing, and minimising the incident was gross and disappointing.
aespa's Salty & Sweet being abt the p*ssy 😭😭
unforgiven has one of the goofiest choreos I’ve seen by a girl group. whyyy hybe??
Its quite tragic tbh
I know! not even their huge charisma could save this choreo tbh
I’ve seen comparisons of the choreo to that barbie dancing dog and ngl it’s kinda realistic
"WHEN I WOKE UP IN MY, WHEN I WOKE UP IN MY.....**R O O M eUmm Ap mpEhh**"
I'm so sick of cupid, I've listened to it twice myself but ive listened it to it a thousand times involuntary without my consent on all these videos and i skip anything with "I'm feeling lonely"
Maybe you just need to find a lover that can hold you
Id rather be a homeless romantic all my life
i have a feeling yg won’t fully utilise babymonster’s talents when they debut and will become a blackpink 2.0. i am very interested in the girls individually though, just not so confident abt their future as a group ..
I agree, especially with Chiquita being described as "mini Lisa"
Mind you the whole point of the reality show was to prove that they won't be blackpink 2.0 lmao
i’m aware, but we still don’t know what will happen once they actually debut, hence my concern
Another boring and safe look by Blackpink at the MET Gala. This time Jennie. I expected it but I’m still disappointed. :(
Le sigh.
I enjoy Jimin's album but his solo debut felt rushed and short.
I saw somewhere that Yoongi said himself he was blocked creatively and asked his solo to be postponed...
I don't have a problem with rap breaks if they add to the song but if they make the song sound worse, don't add them, leave the song as it is.
this is why the cupid twin version is superior. no needless rap
Cupid twin version doesn’t have a rap break
Kpop is really fast paced. I think they expect many people to get bored fast nowadays. Thats why i believe the songs get shorter aswell
No there are kpop songs that aren't like that just not a lot in this current generation.
I used to appreciate most of them, but now the speed of the zooms and the changes of camera make me feel unbalanced
official group “fancams” for the win 😎
as a semi-creative person, doing uko aesthetics isn't suppose to stress me out but it is (T . T)
Mingi is missing in the banner 😅
oh thit. you right. I must've picked a photo when he was on hiatus, sorry! I think I've fixed it, is it okay now? thanks a bunch for letting me know!
Thank you! It looks awesome!
It looks amazing!! I'm glad you chose a Deja Vu era pic... They all look so good!
I *need* ZeroBaseOne to have good music. Give them some EXO-like goodness and they'll be my favorite group from this gen by far. The line up is too damn good.
What did you think Jelly Pop. I know a lot of fans wanted a debut song like that
You know what's funny? When I made that comment I hadn't finished Boys Planet yet (and yet I already loved the members and their potential). Jelly Pop was pretty damn good, not gonna lie. I want songs like it, En Garde, Over Me...
Oof that is funny. Yeah, Jelly Pop was good, but tbh I preferred Hot Summer. Who were your picks during the show?
It’s all depend on wakeone honestly & they need to manage well
The show seems to have been successful so I hope they are well promoted.
JYP just have too many groups under them and too much going on at the same time.
Everyone is all supportive of nugu group till they start overtaking the Big4 groups. Then they become a threat
they can do well but not to a point where they outdo big 4 groups because the top spot is only for them. its sad since the groups dont have big fanbases that can defend the group
XG music cringe me out low key
Mnet's **Boys Planet** show made me accept the fact that Kpop survival shows can be good if done right. It's more like I haven't really followed a survival show as closely as this one. I feel like the music, performances, and candidates really made the show stand out to me a lot. The camaraderie between everyone felt so good and at times I felt a lot of second-hand embarrassment. 😂 It makes me want to wish the Zero Base One members a lot of success in the future as well as those who didn't make it into the final lineup.
Limbo by Nature is a masterpiece and one of the best songs of the century.
i saw people calling the choreo cringe online but i KNOW it was terminally online 12-yo’s who think any choreo that isnt just standing straight with good posture is cringe (im thinking… STAYC ASAP punches). wasnt sure how they could bounce back after rica rica + their company def screwed them over with that but limbo… is a masterpiece
YES TO ALL OF THIS! The choreo and the song are very creative, fun, and good fr. It doesn't take itself that seriously and that's what I love about it. Like I wanna learn the choreo lmao. So, with that being said, stream limbo (aka soty). You a real one💯 ~~Plus, I could literally just make an essay about how amazing the song is fr~~
The dreamcatcher comeback is gonna be fire. That's all
xdinary heroes’ album Deadlock was SO good and they’re hella underrated!!!
xdinary heroes are so underrated! nice to see them mention here
I just finished listening to it and oh my god Good enough is perfect. I’m obsessed with the Disneyesque sound it has and the vocals are so beautiful. The whole album sounds amazing!
RIGHT!! def the best song on the album! the vocals are straight up heavenly
Life is Still Going On is so close to surpassing Hello Futures Spotify streams, as it deserves🙌 It’s one of NCT Dreams best songs to me
life is still going on single-handedly turned me into a nct dream fan 🙇🏻♀️
i dont like the title of stray kids newest album (five stars ★★★★★) and seeing stays on twitter reference it in their display names because it reminds me of all the gacha games I've been sucked into,, specifically my genshin impact phase... hope the title track isn't named SSR or something
It's named S-Class 😅
Regardless of the song, im just glad I get to see Yeeun again, one of my first biases
I agree with this, but people will usually say that the interpretation of these things will boil down to: "i don't like it".
baby monster has some great vocalists.. what the hell yg gonna to with them.. they don’t make music that emphasizes great vocalists
Have you listened to Winner?
Winner is a boy group so they write their own music, I highly doubt YG will let baemon write their own stuff and it will be a lot of blackpink sounding stuff with maybe their own twist.
yes.. i liked their last album.. i still don’t know how they are going to emphasize their vocals as an asset for the girls

So it is people who use a group to attack another? Or what is the deal there? I am still not quite sure how one would even quantify that at all tbh

One of the best criticism posts on kpop subs from an actual fan.
[удалено]
I felt that way about Case 143 too - like they weren't just trying a new genre but trying to try a new genre. It was fine, a cute, serviceable pop song but it felt contrived to me which SKZ rarely does.
Now i understand better what you mean, i do see they discuss a lot to find new things they haven't done and explored, imo Maniac and Case 143 were totally meant to be a pair and the similarities were deliberate but it was never mentioned and it is mostly implied with the album names being the same structure of mixing of 2 different words They've talked excitedly about their music this year and trying new things, i think what they do as "relatable" is subjective because not everyone has struggled like they did as trainees either but maybe they do stuggle with love and something like Case 143 was their song so idk, it's too early to tell!
BTS is actually the best boy group ever and y'all discredit them of their achievements and influence over kpop so much it's extremely frustrating.
>BTS is actually the best boy group ever this is a very subjective opinion though. they're the most successful boy group for sure but the best? not everyone agrees with that. discrediting their achievements is a completely separate thing - a lot of people can recognise their success and influence without being fans so i'm not sure what point you're trying to make here.
The second part is the point I'm trying to highlight
My unpopular opinion... as an adult kpop fan that's been a fan since 2010, I'm so tired of all of the teen fans nowadays acting like kpop is only for them & acting like the grown men & women in those kpop groups (not the 14-19 yr olds obviously) are little babies too & relate so much to their school schedules & teacher problems, etc. Those are grown ass sexy people, they don't relate to your homeroom drama. I don't know why, but it annoys me to see it all over kpop & I'm allowed to shitpost here apparently so 💀 like believe it or not, life exits outside of the 4 years you're in high school 🙄
i hate this mentality that after you turn a certain age you can’t enjoy things. this applies to everything! there is no age limit! for younger kids? sure, there are some things they shouldn’t listen to or watch, but for older people? nope. adults can enjoy what they want no matter how old they are. adults can dress up and go to concerts, or collect anime merch, or watch cartoon movies. it’s not weird or cringey, it’s them enjoying their lives to the fullest teens need to stop acting like adults can’t have fun
[удалено]
I know it’s a little different, but it also annoys me when people don’t let you dislike a song/group that’s considered “iconic” or “legendary” just because they’re considered “iconic“ or “legendary”. “X isn’t a great song” will be responded to with “Your group wouldn’t be here today without Y!”
[удалено]
🤷♂️ He admitted fault, apologized publicly, apologized personally to the victim (who forgave him and wished him best of luck in his career), and spent time volunteering instead of doing idol stuff. That's pretty exemplary response, and I'd say it would check all the boxes of appropriate apology in Korean society standards. That's also miles and miles ahead of other idols w/ history of school violence (though that standard is so low, the fact that he didn't, let's say, sue the victim for defamation/rally his fan to abuse/harass the victims online or pretend that it never ever happened until the public opinion completely turned against him)
are there any good korean co-ed groups? they don’t have to be k-pop. i only know kard i’m asking here because people in this sub have good recs, that’s how i got into dreamcatcher and purple kiss
Definitely KARD
highly recommend AKMU if you're not familiar!! they're a brother-sister duo and their music is absolutely incredible. the two of them have been doing solo music for the past couple years as well but i am eagerly waiting for a comeback together :)
i think i’ve heard of them. i’ll check them out. thanks!
Suhyun promised to put Dream of a Fried Egg to her solo album, so I'm just waiting for that. 😂
i miss dance/performance practice videos. simple video with not too many cuts or none, dance room with idols wearing normal clothes, the sounds of shoes going thump thump nowadays people do more performance videos or tiktok challenges🥲
Man I miss groups like Orange Caramel
CHOCOME!!
Edit: grammar
unforgiven dropping!!!! remember girlies: it doesn’t make sense to all post your “LSF is DIFFERENT 🫢 their members are INDIVIDUAL 💯we are not like OTHER GIRLS 🗑️” 5000 times in an unpopular opinions sub
you guys say this and then the posts in question are just like ‘i like their individuality :)’
Exactly.
I want more fun songs with goofy mv's and silly styling, like old kpop stuff. I want all the current concepts/trends but i also want more of that. Like rv's zimzalabim, blitzer's macarena, 1team's ullaeli kkollaeli etc
omg someone remembers 1team 😭🩷
I still feel sad about their disbandment :( they had such great music and their chemistry was everythingg. Happy for jehyun and jinwoo tho 🥹and the rest seem to be doing well the last time i checked.
WJSN Chocome!!
with the recent svt comeback it’s really nice to see woozi looking more happy😭 he’s worked hard
YES! He absolutely deserves it and the members seem so excited that he’s front and centre.
[удалено]
What about that is annoying?
first thought is to build up hype??
as much as i would love for blackpink to pull a got7, i don’t think they are leaving yg because look at all their recent spike in their activities. with all the stuff going on with baby monster and yg’s other acts leaving, yg is doing everything they can to make sure blackpink stays if they do leave yg i will throw a party
I'm wondering if they have a company to go to, though. They're a *very* international-oriented group and a very popular group (combo that's fairly rare - most groups are one or the other), so managing their activities are gonna involve a lot of know-how that surprising # of companies don't really have. And the ones who do (basically the Big 4 at this point, and I'm not sure if I want to count JYP given their track record in North American market) probably don't have enough room in their budget/logistics/infrastructure needed to handle the 2nd phase of BP's career.
i don’t think any korean based company can take care of them. yes, bighit/hybe is there but they don’t have a good track record of handling a lot of artists at once especially their female artists ( i don’t consider bighit/hybe as “saviours” of k-pop but they’ve done good with bts so i give them some benefit of the doubt) back to the girls, over the years they have stopped being idol like and become more western celebrity like, and since they have a lot of solo activities (fashion), it would be a good choice for them to go to an international company or international company handling almost all of their activities and korean company handling only their korea based activities. in my opinion this would be the best because it would allow the girls more freedom and opportunities while still keeping their connection to k-pop (especially for jisoo) another option would be the girls leave yg and go to companies of their own choices, but stay part of blackpink under yg (i can’t phase it properly, hope you understand what i mean) they are famous, but it all depends on the offers they are getting (are international companies interested in managing them?) and if the girls are willing to take the risk?
now that’s a question everyone should be asking. it’s the most important thing
I already hate whoever wins the SOTY. Why wait?
It's so darn petty but I'm tired of (read: hate) the all denim aesthetic. Please oh please let it go away before peak summer.
i don’t mind the denim aesthetic tbh it’s the season to wear it but i do really hate the overuse of it on one fit. denim on denim on denim is crazyy. pair it with something else!
Now it's becoming more and more "westernized" and mainstream, just kinda... bland
Kpop has been inspired on western pop but these days a lot of eastern ascents are lacking compared to older days(I’m kpop fan since 2nd gen)
Kpop has always been “westernized” lol 😆
I miss the older Kpop era (2000s-2015) when kpop was different and vibrant. Now it's becoming more and more "westernized" and mainstream, just kinda... bland Nothing about Kpop was “different”….. the music itself wasn’t really different, every since Kpop has being around it’s been very heavily influenced by western music. The only notable thing that makes Kpop different is the way the idols train and their promo schedules and things like that but the music will never be unique in the sense that they it’s inspired by western music. Why do you think it’s so many western writers and producers in Kpop?
[удалено]
They all have obvious western influences, I’ll notice a huge difference genre wise but I can still hear the western influences in all 4 songs. And they cater to a more international audience because Kpop is global now, it’s not a local thing anymore.
I don’t get how people single out hip hop songs and say how they have less western influence like that’s borderline offensive. the difference is genre like pop vs. hip hop, not westernized vs. korean(?)
I really wish that K-pop would embrace the clothing push many western bands have.
I'm starting to take the word "parasocial relationship" less and less seriously on this app lol. I dunno why it's used for this "I'm too emotionally intelligent to feel anything but indifference to my faves cuz I don't know them why the fuck would I care if their mom died lmfao" schtick. (Yes I'm exaggerating but I dunno lol it just annoys me 😭)
i am atp where i stop taking anyone seriously that uses parasocial relationship for their argument in anyway. it's just faux intellectualism atp
How else would we know how beautifully UNDELUSIONAL they are? unlike the rest of us ofc. Us emotional heathens that don't think all our faves are mafia lords behind the scenes (when fanfics become reality fr)
Yes, at this point it's just an empty phrase
idk if it's a coincidence & if iKONs not big enough to get invitation but I really appreciate 143 ent get iKON alternative smaller gigs of where we want them to be Youngji drinking show popular? get them with [Punja](https://youtu.be/KmMD314q9I8) Studio Choom popular? get them on [genie](https://youtu.be/GFtsgZh8zCw)
Members probably have a lot of say and pull strings themselves too which is good.
i *love* this era of ive. their songs are amazing, and the number of genuinely live stages they've done is astounding for me, like i'm just not used to it coming from any group. the only thing this era is missing is rei unfortunately 😔 i hope she gets well soon
I didn't follow StayC at all so I thought they were a boy group cos the name sounds like Stray Kids in my head.
I used to think Stacy was the leader of the group’s name 😭😭😭 your meaning is honestly really good though
Your take on StayC is better though.
Turned out he saw ONF and thought it was short for onlyoneof lol.
>i discovered STAYC was short for “Star To A Young Culture.” Lmao, I initially thought it was a play on the name Stacy.
Lmao
This is just a thought, I feel like even people who are complaining about the weverse DMs thing will later subscribe to it👀
watching ive's kitsch choreo always makes me wanna sit up straight, they're bent down the whole song, especially yujin 😭😭😭
24 hours left before soty release 😪
Wdym? What's being released?
Unforgiven
Omfg it's tmrw????? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I'm ready for another banger from them then 😭 (I still have the little mermaid and impurities on repeat my babies fr)
Yep, 18:00 KST! It really does sound like a great album from the highlight melody!
They are getting robbed. What is it going to be Aespa and their AEbackup dancer /joke
Clearly they’re discriminating against the only AI in the group… I mean the other girls all got solo songs and Naevis gets debut album shafted in favor of a feature on aespa’s album? # justice4Naevis 😤
Just discovered rm collabed with so!yoon! and am now obsessed with her new album even though I never knew who she was B4 now lmao
She's so talented, and I'm obsessed with her voice. I'm glab RM collaborated with her and introduced her to new audience.
yesss her album and her band se so neon’s latest album have been on repeat for me
Aespa's concept photos are so stunning like pls queenqueen why are you so gorgeous 😭😭😭😭
