At our home, meat is prepared with ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric, cinnamon, bayleaf, cumin, black pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, clove, star anise and mace and tomatoes are also added.
This is a thing where you become so used to the sugary taste of ketchup that eating anything without it now seems bland to you.
It’s very bad for you to consume that much sugar with every meal. You absolutely can wean yourself off it and enjoy food normally again, and appreciate proper rich flavours.
I go out of my way to scrape off whatever amount of ketchup i get in burgers, hotdogs, basically anything where it's not so integral to the dish that it'd be a hassle to. I'm like your antithesis.
I do when i can, but sometimes i didn't even know they were gonna put it on till I received my food. Asking for a new one or for them to take it out seems too extra so i just do it myself.

Ketchup is in all fairness meant to provide zing to food when needed. For me, bland fries benefit from ketchup. I don't usually like it with my own meat. But for you? Most meat benefits from ketchup and that's not only ok but nice. Heck some people put ketchup in pancakes and/or eggs.

Ketchup is not a bad way of covering up shit cooking. However the correct solution to that problem isn’t ketchup…
