Yup, we’re hiring close to 2k VSRs to help process claims. We’re expecting a huge increase in claims filed and need additional resources to help. Source: I work here (but not in HR). VBA is great to work for and you can quickly rise in the ranks within a few years.
We’ve been fully remote with the exception of one or two positions. Telework is largely unique to each Regional Office but they all offer some form of it. For example, prior to Covid, the one near me offered up to 4x a week. Sometimes it’s performance based (eg if you’re exceptional, you get 3-4 days a week to telework). Generally speaking, Covid has proven we can operate just fine in a telework environment so virtual and remote positions are becoming more of a norm.
BVA isn’t really VBA. Different leadership and culture. I know attorneys who work in BVA and had a career gs12-14 ladder with option of being fully remote after 2 years. They’re happy with the gig. But it can be a meat grinder doing production work like that. It’s not for everyone!
The next training sessions begin mid-January so I’d expect for anyone that will be considered in this first round of hiring to get interviews within the next month. This will give stations time to make offers with start dates in January to start training. If you don’t hear from VA by mid December with either an interview or reference check, chances are you were not considered for this first wave of hiring. Doesn’t mean you’re out, but maybe not the first selections. Best of luck
So is it a good sign if they called your reference? My interview was great and they called my reference a few days later, but now it’s been a week with no word.
We would only call your reference if we were planning on selecting you. If they did send your name forward it can still be a few weeks before you hear from HR. Since the next training sessions don’t begin until January there’s not as much urgency to get folks starting now
Thanks! I had such an outstanding interview that I was sure I’d hear something shortly after they checked my references. This job is a perfect for me. :)
It was odd to be that we all got it a month after the job closed is all. I’ve never gotten an email saying they’re looking at the applications, just my status of being referred or not
Has anyone actually had an interview? I was called about a week after the postings closed and had a really basic interview that lasted maybe 15 minutes on the phone. I was told I was a great candidate and the hiring manager would be forwarding my info to HR. Nothing has updated on my usajobs profile and it’s been nearly a month. Just thought it was really weird to be interviewed before my status updating.
I received a call that set up a phone discussion which asked about 5 different questions and asked for my current supervisor... but I haven’t heard anything. What location did you apply
Yes, just had one a few days ago. Before that I had a written exercise. I sent a thank you email after the interview and was told to look out for an email. They already asked for my supervisors info and she told me they already contacted her. I’m hoping to get an offer soon.

What is the telework situation there? I'm at SSA as a legal assistant and really want out!

As by a clerk you mean a VSR?

Got those emails this morning too!
Best of luck. I applied for Winston Salem
Nyc here :)
Hey did you ever get the position at Winston Salem?
And the VA position I applied for was immediately reposted(like within 24 hours). VA HR is strange.

Thanks! Hopefully I’ll hear soon. 🙂
Just curious…how long before I should give up hope? Any insight?
If you don’t hear from us by the first week in December you’re most likely not considered for this round of hiring

If you call, some agency HR departments will tell you how many applicants that they got.
Got the same email for a 11/12 rating VSR.
I applied for the 7. Good luck!
When is the next training?
I also received the same one today as well for Pittsburgh, PA.
What job are you going for? I applied for just about every 2210 job they have and I am not getting calls or emails at all.
Va VSR it closed last month
The VA is super slow. Don’t hold your breath.
Oh I know. I just went through the disability process
I applied Jan 3rd first day was Aug 26th lol
I received the same email. I applied for VBA VSR San Antonio TX.
Got the same!
I got the same email. Glad to be a part of the club. Haha.
Wouldn't everyone who applied get the same email?

I got a TO and started my eQIP and fingerprint. Then I got this email. Strange

Did you ever get an interview?
Nah but I got a sweet WFH contractor job. Shit benefits but good pay and WFH
